How can I modify the system orientations -- lets say I want my four softkeys at the top of my phone rather than on the bottom of my phone in portrait mode. (as in permanently)

[Solved] Gallery Wallpaper Problem

I'm not able to get my Gallery pics to work as backgrounds. I can get launchers and live wallpapers to work but when I crop a picture, I press save and nothing happens. It stays as the Amazon crap.
Please note that I know how to change the permissions for a wallpaper to stay or change.
I have the same problem. As a workaround I use file expert to set new wallpapers.

File Expert did work - thank you. I noticed that the pictures are grainy and they also do not move along with the screen. Any way to fix those?
Not sure on the grainy. And unfortunately wallpaper scrolling doesn't work on the stock Rom.

It seems like 600x1024 images work fine but 1024x600, it zooms in on the picture or only a section of the picture will show up.

Tried a 1024x1024 wallpaper and it looks normal now.
try root explorer ...

[Q] Resolution ...

What is the actual "home/lock" screen(s) resolution on this S3? Cropping a small portion to show of a beautiful full picture is getting maddening.
Install home and lock screen wallpapers separately, don't choose the combined option. Cropping is only for the lock screen, you'll get full picture/resolution on home and lock screens doing them separately.

FWIW: I have never tried to set them both together. I do them separately, & still have the same issue.
The "images" I have are to large & constantly start with the crop tool in the center of the image & I can only move it around & make the crop area smaller & essentially zoom in on the image, not "engulf" the entire image.
Use quickpic from the playstore

Interesting. Been using live wallpapers/stock images so haven't played with any custom images yet. Stock ones did not crop on the home screen setting, but did when choosing to apply to both home and lock.

Easy way to rotate pictures?

I noticed that there doesnt seem to be a rotate clockwise/counter clockwise feature in the stock gallery. Clicking edit gives an option to open the image with PS Touch or Paper Artist. There should be an easy way to change image orientation, right?

Sv: Easy way to rotate pictures?
Right! In the stock gallery application, click menu (the three horizontal bars) and rotate image to the left or right. Or don't you have that setting avaliable?

This is a bit strange.
They dont have that feature when in the "screenshots" folder. I didnt bother checking the other folders before, as I thought they would all be the same.
I guess I can bypass that by just moving the pictures to a different folder but still not sure why its not available in that folder.

It turns out that screenshots can't be rotated no matter which folder you place it in.

So actually you can't from the gallery app but a way around it is if you use the Google Photos app, just edit it in there and then you can rotate a screenshot in this way. Not perfect, but a nice workaround.

[Q] Wallpaper not centering

Hey folks.
So I have this weird problem where my wallpaper won't centre properly. It looks fine on the preview but when it's set it looks zoomed in and and a little off centre to the right.
I'm rooted and using Nova Launcher Prime as well but these issues were there before that anyway.
Anyone have any thoughts or a work around? It's only mildly annoying and not a huge deal but I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I'd like to get it sorted.

How are you setting the wallpaper? Are you going into your actual S6 settings, then wallpaper? or are you long pressing the home screen and using Nova to set it?
I've noticed this too, wallpaper sets like it should on lock screen but on home screen it's zoomed and moved down..
Also I noticed this is a problem with a nova launcher..
Samsung screws with the cropping to implement the dynamic perspective feature in the default launcher.
Add a border of 10% around the image you want to set and then try again. May need to play with it a bit depending on the launcher. Works for GNL. For example, if your image is 2000x2000 pixels, add a border to make it 2200x2200. I use the "Fit" feature of this app to do it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iudesk.android.photo.editor
I think I found the issue. I turned off wallpaper scrolling in Nova settings and the wallpapers seem to centre correctly now.

Had a similar problem using ADW Launcher, and disabling the wallpaper hack (system>adv settings) fixed the problem. I believe it's off by default but I restored a backup after a format.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to ThatChinskiGuy for pointing me in the right direction.
