Bluetooth issues - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just upgraded from my sgs3 and streaming to my car radio worked flawless before. Now I have the sgs5 and I'm getting connection issues every few seconds... I saw an app on the play store called "bluetooth fix repair" but scared to test it out

I would try, if you have time, just Factory reset/wipe cache. See if fresh install helps. I have no Bluetooth issues as of yet. So try this to see. May just be problem with device.

UCLD2 Bluetooth Problems

I'm one of the unlucky few who can't get Bluetooth to work with UCLD2 leak ICS.
It doesn't affect everyone. Just some folks.
It crashes for me and I've tried three different ROM's.
UCALC4 doesn't have the problem with bluetooth for me.
Just wondering if anyone out there has come up with a fix for it, or if you have found any custom ROM's that don't have the problem?
Please don't say CM9 because it's using the older Bluetooth code from Gingerbread (IMO) and has a couple other issues that aren't working out for me. Great ROM otherwise though.
CZ, u tried sky ics ucld2 base with the different cwm flashable Bluetooth fixes seanscreamz has? It seems he tried to import the stack from uclc4

Yep, tried the base by itself, then also tried the #1 and #2 bluetooth fix.
None work for me.
Had to go back to SkyICS UCALC.
My stereo is the double-din JVC unit.
bluetooth fix
I read that a new base is out for SKY ICS and a lot of people are saying that it fixes the bluetooth issue for them.
Tried it. Twice.

Are you using darkside to wipe between flashes if so don't. And check your md5s with the files on the SD

I do use darkside.
Sometimes before wiping and sometimes after.
Have downloaded UCLD2 twice, so that's *probably* not the problem.
I hope this Canadian ICS release has some additional Bluetooth fixes.
Otherwise, I may go back to Gingerbread before long.
did you install the radio following Sean's instructs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600420
My first ICS rom was a bust.
Then I installed the radio and afterwards installed Sean's 4.2d9:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602216
I did it exactly, no superwipe, used the cwm touch he said to. Installed the base, then the update. Did not install the bluetooth mods. Only thing I installed was a different battery to fix the ics signal bars from greay to blue.
BT works better than it ever has. I was streaming Slacker and running nav on the way via BT to my Ford truck via Sync to test.
(Sync in my 2010 has always been twitchy; never worked right with my Atrix <previous phone>)
Also BT to a home speaker system is great, also.

I am Running Seans Sky Ice, amazing ROM
Issue for me is car bluetooth, and after working for couple of days it started to connect and reconnect again, after I've been listening to music, so my guess (and this is after testing new radios and few other things) is stock music player does something to bluetooth or bluetooth permissions (as as well as phone it also connects to the car) and once there some connection issues when trying to turn it on through the car, the whole thing just does not work properly.
I never had a problem from update 1 to 6, it started on 8 and seems to happen on 9 again. So for the threads out there that say I've tried all the ROM and it's the same, no it's not it was fine on Update 6 here.
If you are running any other ROM, do a back up and flash Fix 2 first and then if it does not for flash Fix 1, thank you to seanzscreams.
Possible Fix:
What I did is i did a nandroid restore ( and yes it is a good idea to do a back up right after you flashed both base and update and set up LTE, to keep a clean copy)
!!!1) Before setting up or even turning it on, in Titanium Back up, freeze stock music player. !!! and it is important to do so before touching BT, as it may affect permission and this will not work(make sure not to touch MusicFX as it also affect BT permissions)
2) Reboot the device
3) Open Google Music Player and set up your music( please note if you have more then one playlist, make sure you set them up right as songs wont play continually and you will not have ability to skip them using car controls)
Google Play is same as stock, meaning same functionality, same car features and all, so you are not really loosing anything.
4) No close it
5) Go ahead set up BT with the car, you should get two messages one to permit access to phone book and one to permit accesses to call history (well it depends on the car, but if you have a newer system in it they yes) check mark the box so it does not ask you again and click yes/accept.
6) Enjoy. Should be good from now on, I've been listening for it all day, will test it more and let you know.
Please also share your experience and thought on the problem, so maybe I am wrong and it's not the issue and it's something else and we can all get it fixed.
Thank you.
BLUETOOTH IS WORKING NOW!!!!
Unfortunately, none of the possible fixes listed above ever worked for me or other JVC car stereo guys that I know about.
But the newest leak, UCLE2 is working just fine.
Thought it took much longer to recognize my stereo than normal (could just be a one-time issue), it was buzz free, error free and playing my Pandora perfectly!
Here's the leak download:

[SOLVED]TMO One S Bluetooth disconnects every minute on Audi A3

I just got a One S last week, and everything worked great with my 2009 A3 until yesterday, when bluetooth started getting disconnected by itself literally every minute. After it cuts off it immediately reconnects, which would have been fine but the A3 makes a "ding" sound every time the phone is connected. I have tried to unpair and pair again and again, and to no avail.
Despite this issue, the connection is actually fine when in a call. It's only when it's idle. Also my Nexus S working fine with the car, and the phone works fine with my BT speakers....
Does anyone else have this problem? I'm going to call my local dealership and ask if they have any sort of update for the A3 since the One S is BT 4.0....
[SOLUTION/WORK AROUND]
Just unpair the phone, then when you pair it again, do not allow the car to access your contacts, and make sure to choose the "do not ask again" option. This is the only consistent solution I've seen so far.
Try to update software... Maybe there is the fix. Settings about phone system update

I have the same issue with my One S, it will connect and disconnect from my Cadillac SRX, my Galaxy S2 had no issues. What is up with this phone.
Yeah tell me about it....my Lamborghini Aventador is doing the same thing

i had the same problem with my arc s and my '11 rs5 last year.the audi guy couldn't find any problem at the multimedia console. he offered me to change the whole console but the problem was still there. same problem on my girlfriends tts...don't know what audi was doing back there.
now on my new facelift rs5 bluetooth works like a charm
Maybe if you didn't have such a badass car your phone wouldn't hyperventilate and drop your bt con every 60 seconds.
I had this issue with SEAT Altea. It was in fact due to contacts syncronization.
To know if it is the case: unpair your phone and pair it again without accepting to share your contacts. then if the connexion is stable you will know that it's linked to sync.
I solved the issue by deactivating some phonebooks sources. I had 140 google contacts and 160 Exchange ones. Probably too many. By activating only the google ones the issue was solved.
hope it helps...

Yep I saw this on another forum and it worked like a charm. I dont really need to use the phone book anyway, as long as it can let me pick up phone calls im golden.
So, what was the actual change that solved the issues for you? We might want to take this into the FAQ. Did you disable the phonebook sync completely or did you just limit it to Google Contacts?

It was the phonebook sync. When you pair the phone to your car you should get a prompt on the phone that the car is asking for permission to access your contacts, just check the "don't ask again" button and decline it.
I also have a problem downloading contacts. I drive 2011 Subaru Outback with OEM Nav/Bluetooth. How do you select which contacts to sync? Where is the option for selecting/deselecting Google, phone...etc?
Thank you
Hi,
when not syncing your contacts is not an option: If you keep your android running with the navigation app (preventing standby) do you still experience disconnects? If this helps you can try my app "BluetoothKeepalive" from the market, it automatically prevents android standby when being connected via bluetooth.

Strange Bluetooth issue

Since I got my phone on release day and I haven't been able to use it to make calls in my 2012 mazdaspeed3. My other phones have worked fine so I thought I needed a software update on my radio. Well everything is up to date and that didn't fix it.
The problem is when I make or receive a phone call the Bluetooth will connect and disconnect every 5-10 seconds. This makes it impossible to talk on the phone.
So I have tried stock roms, sense based roms, and all the CM based roms and they all did the same thing. Yesterday I was trying to figure it out so I sat in my car in the garage and the phone was in a constant connect disconnect loop. During this time I was disabling apps and services hoping to stop it when all of a sudden I turned off WiFi and it stopped. I then called my wife and had a 10 min conversation with no problems. So I now run a tasker profile that when Bluetooth connects it turns off WiFi so I can make calls. The problem is I have a nexus 7 dash mounted and I use the WiFi hotspot to run apps.
So after all that, does this sound like a hardware issue or a software issue? Should I return my phone for an exchange? Thanks for the help

So far, no. It took me like 20 minutes to get the phone to pair but once that was done it hasn't disconnected at all. I have music constantly streaming through Bluetooth to the car and I've taken a couple calls with no issue.

Have you tried clearing data and cache in settings?
the Red Viper ROM
I am having the same issue.
It is connecting and disconnecting repeatedly, and it is SUPER annoying because it essentially renders my pebble watch useless.
For a while i was using the Automatic Link (car link) and was getting 'bluetooth share has stopped' errors, but found that when I stopped using the Automatic app it helped a little bit (stopped giving me the 'share has stopped' error), but it still connects and disconnects repeatedly.
The weirdest thing about this is that when I first got this phone I wasn't having this problem, everything was working fine for the first month or so, but it seems to keep getting worse.
I have tried wiping cache, dalvik, fixing permissions, etc. and have not had any luck, but I don't want to do a complete wipe of all my data and lose my text messages, etc. unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, since there are images and things in there that I continually refer to for work, and I have not found that titanium backup restores them very reliably.
Has anybody had any luck with this issue? Could it be a defective device? It seems to me like it should be a software problem because it is not something I was having problems with from the start...
I am very frustrated with this, even more so because I love this phone so much. I have never had a phone that I liked as much as this one, usually the first thing I do is install an AOSP rom, but I even like Sense 6 in some ways. With Nova Launcher's 'OK Google' hotword support this phone is a dream come true... if only the bluetooth worked.

you need to let HTC backup app take care of backing up your texts etc...what if you dropped the phone in the toilet tonight or got pushed into a pool?
this app is free...will backup your stuff daily or on demand and will restore email accounts/texts/desktop/apps/blinkfeed settings etc.

install that, backup to the cloud (uses Google drive) and then continue troubleshooting without fear of losing stuff.

Pandora Issue

I have this weird problem with Pandora over LTE. It won't load songs and play unless I toggle airplane mode on and off. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. I never use to have this problem and I can't figure out why its doing this. No other music streaming apps have problems (play music and SoundCloud). I have to toggle airplane mode after every song. Its really annoying. My N5 is completely Stock and I am on Straight Talk

I am on Android 5.0.1. I have even factory reset my phone and I still have the same issue. I can't figure it out at all. Pandora works fine over WiFi, but not LTE or 3G. All other music streaming apps I have work just fine. If I start Pandora and let it try to play a song. It will start then have really buffer issues. while it is buffering if I put airplane mode on then off the song will play just fine over LTE, but once a new song starts I have to do the same thing with airplane mode. I would ditch Pandora all together and just use Play Music or SoundCloud, but both of those apps use so much data. ( I listen to about an hour of music a day) I have Play Music setting set to the low quality, but from what I have read online it will stream the best quality your connection will allow. I have great connection everywhere I go in my home town.

Pandora claims they have no issue with 5.0 or 5.0.1, but I can not use the app. I really only started to have this problem when I updated to 5.0.1. May flash back to 5.0 to see if that fixes the problem.
Here's an interesting side note. If I turn on the hotspot feature on my N5 and connect my N7 to it and play Pandora on my N7 everything works fine. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out.

I can tell you that a factory reset will not help. I thought it was 5.0.1 that was causing the issue so I flashed the 5.0 factory Image and that did not fix the problem. Then I flashed the 5.0.1 factory image and that did also not fix the problem.
Clearing the Pandora cache worked for me.

Open "Beta" build. Expect bugs. Also there's a reason this build is pulled back by OnePlus. Downgrade to OB11. Everything seems fine to me on OB11.
No issues here on OB12

Same problem for me. It happens every time I update the ROM, beta or not, I have to do a clean install each time ...
Anyone has fix this Bluetooth issue in ob12?
So it's still not fixed in ob14
Has this issue just yesterday in OB14. Sudden freeze and reboot. After that Bluetooth settings crash, no lock screen and theming worked buggy. Took a backup and clean flashed. No problems so far
Hello,
I had the same crash with stable 9.04 approx one week after upgrading from 9.0.3.
Suddenly, entering bluetooth made settings app force close.
I couldn't find any solution and ended up to factory reset the phone...

This happens for me every two weeks... I don't know at all why it happens. I'm thinking it could be caused by the navbar gestures, SwiftKey, cf.lumen or maybe kinscreen. Do you use one of these?
I went back to 9.0.4 because of that and it still happens.

Sorry but i use none of these. In my case the rom starts to collapse itself after a few updates dirty flashed. Some system apps not showing on ocasional boots, some sudden soft reboots and then lockscreen not showing at all, theming bugs, and Bluetooth crash. I take backup using oneplus switch and titanium and fresh install open beta, restoring all doesnt take more than 20 minutes.
My bluetooth setting crash, i couldn't connect any new devices. so i searched for solution in this forum. im on OOS 9.0.4. just before i take the plunge wipe data clean install rom, i tried the following.
I first cleared Setting App cache and data, didn't work.
then i gone into recovery and cleared Dalvik cache, didn't work.
then i used Clean Master and cleared system cache, 3gb worth, and bluetooth setting worked again!
hope this helps someone in the future.
Hello guys, i just noticed that bluetooth settings crashing ,everything was working fine for me (as long as i remember), but yesterday i was trying to pair a BT controller and it happened. So let me explain, turning on and off bt affects nothing, but when it's on and you try to go to the settings by long tap on quick settings or by the settings it crashes. when it's off you can go to the settings but once you try to pair a new device it crashes, old paired devices pair when you turn on the BT so it happens only when you try to pair a new device.
I tried to go to the 9.0.6 but it was crashing there too, so i rolled back to OB19.
I'm rooted, magisk 19.2 and twrp and with stock or smurf kernel it crashes , so i ended up pairing the controller with a third party app.
I'm sure it was working before because i paired alot of devices. I tried some "fixes" like freezing the bttestmode or clearing the cache and data of the bluetooth but none of those fixed the issue. So did anyone find a solution.
Thank you
For everyone having BT crashes, try looking at your phone Bluetooth name and check if it's blank. Usually happens to me when fsync fails and I lose my ram data.
