Why should i root my moto g

Hello dear friends and Moto g user. Since i own the G i feel so less tempted to root my phone.
Am i the only one who thinks that the G has a great firmeware and outstanding akku life?
I'm afraid that rooting and flashing a custom rom would effect the battery life.
So what do you think rooting and flashing a custom jay or ney?

Moto G is still unrooted over here. Think this is the longest ive gone without touching a phone. Think it will still this way and Stock G is more than enough for me.
I have rooted my phone, but i only did this to provide a backup method, I like Titanium. I have been following a couple of the custom ROM threads for weeks and I just read of too many problems. The Moto G factory firmware is fine but if you want to tweak it some, just install xposed and whatever modules you need. I have done just this and I have got a sweet system that includes most of the tweaks we look for in custom ROMs.

I rooted my Moto G to take full benefit of having full access to my device as I need it. More specifically, I did it to use Xposed modules like App Setting and the graphic card spoofer app GLTools. These are not necessary of course, but I feel like having custom DPI on an app to app basis should be a normal Android feature everyone should have access to without root.

Besides the posibility to have full access to the phone I also rooted it to be able to block ads.
I ran the g stock until cm11 was stable enough for daily use. Now I am running PAC and loving the fact that this phone still has it great battery life as it did stock with my heavy usage. One thing I will say is if you have to ask to root then I don't think you need to.

Is it possible to root the phone without unlocking the bootloader?
Inviato dal mio XT1032 utilizzando Tapatalk
No
If you root your moto g you can delete system apk, install xposed frameworks and its modules like gravity box, modify the governors of the cpu, the performance of the phone, etc.
Xposed! <3
If you need to ask this question then you shouldn't be rooting your phone.

@Carlos_EVH You mention delete system apk, is this one entity, or do you mean items such as Assist, Motorola migrate?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I rooted my phone to use Titanium as backup app (and to uninstall and freeze apps like Google+, Google movies, Google games and Google music).
And if you are root is easy to hide the carrier label, change the battery icon and the statusbar quicksettings (Xposed + gravity + motoguide).
For me stock is perfect at the moment (with customization) and Motorola has good updates at least until now

All apks, for example, I deleted google +, google play books, play games, play músic and maps, I also deleted motorola migrate. And everithing works fine after I deleted all those apks.
But if I were you, just after unlock the bootloader or before root, I'd do a backup of all the system apk using the all in1 motorola moto tool because, if you delete system apk you won't be able to flash the future OTAs even if you reflash the stock recovery.
Sorry for the mistake, English isn't my first language

Two reasons to root:
1. You can make decent backups with Titanium Backup.
2. You can install a firewall that prevents selected (i.e., most) tools from sending your precious data to wherever they want.
But if you unlock the bootloader for rooting, the warranty will be void... In Europe also (I've just asked to amazon)

Uhm... Could you please comment a bit more on this?
Directly from the answer:
Further to your query about Motorola Moto G 16 GB - Smartphone libre Android, I can confirm that all items sold by Amazon.it come with a 30-day returns guarantee that allows you to return your purchase to us if for any reason you are unhappy with it.*
Also, you are provided with a 2-year legal warranty from the date of delivery in accordance with the Consumers Protection Regulations, however the warranty only is applied on the product if it is damaged or if the product that you received has an issue, if the product is modified (Software or parts of the product) during the warranty time, this one will be void.*

A 2-year warranty? I thought it was 1 year. That's a nice surprise.
I think if you have to ask why, then rooting is not for you since you will probably not fully utilize it.

I had a similar problem, never got any help that worked, ended up sending it in and got a replacement. Here is my thread, not sure it will help any. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2763671
Did you find a solution? I'm having the exact same problem (I live in Denmark). Modified some radio-settings with the Thunderbolt app and ended up with no signal. Don't know what to do!
Hi solved like that:
I have installed a custom rom. Than when finished I went in setting and I have selected gsm only. Than I have rebooted and installed an app called phone testing . Inside I went in phone setting and in the menu I have selected band and then automatic. Rebooted and it works.
Let me know

Thank you very much for your answer! However I'm still having the same issue. Installed a custom rom (ViperOne). Tried to select GSM Only in settings but it will not let me do that. It stays in Global mode for some reason.
I'm not sure if I found the right app (Phone Testing) but it looks a lot like the 'Thunderbolt' app that caused the signal issue (actually the apps are identical). In the phone testing app I tapped "Select band" and got those two options: "USA Band" and "Cellular (800-MHz Band)". Don't see any "Automatic"-options.
Yesterday when trying to improve my signal I tapped "Cellular (800-MHz Band)" in the "Thunderbolt" app and since then I haven't been able to get any signal.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Ok, I'll try that. But where did you download it? As far as I can see it's not compatible with the Verizon One M8.
EDIT: oh, now I see it is. Downloading now. Hope it works

I was wondering if you have LTE in France? Everything works perfect for me now except LTE. The Verizon ONE M8 should support all the LTE bands we use in Europe so I don't know why it doesn't work for me.

It appears to be a baseband-related problem as a lot of VZW M8 users have problems with LTE in the US also (with T-Mobile for example).
Unfortunately there is no much options for our devices as the only compatible radio is the Verizon "0.89.20.0321", (don't flash any GSM device radio as your could end with NO IMEI and NO BASEBAND because the partitions diference),
Because of that we don't have any other option than wait for HTC to roll out an update for Verizon's M8 radio. (I hope they release it soon).

I did the same thing as you, but at that time i used ARHD 11.1 - it was the latest available. I'm not sure about 20.3. I'm on Viper 2.5.0 now. I think you can use 11.2 that is available - it's 4.4.3 based, we don't have 4.4.4 base for verizon yet. Or you can PM me for a way to send you my copy of 11.1.

If you're on 4.4.3 firmware you can flash ARHD 11.1 safely - i already did it.

AFAIK radio has to do with signal network
i don't know if it is the culprit
but you can change radio only if you are on S-OFF

Nvidia recall, is there any easy way for my old tablet not to be deactivated?

Hi, complete noob here, but i need your help.
I receive my new tablet today in Argentina, and i really would like not to lose my old one with the faulty battery.
Is there any easy way to make nvidia not to deactivate it? I don't know how to root it or flash it, my old tablet is with stock android with latest updates.
Any easy tutorial will be nice.
Thank you so much.
There's an excellent tutorial here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-nvidia-shield-custom-rom.394750/
just change ROM for not deactivate the tablet?

So basicly you want to use a fire hazard that will probably blow up your hands one day?
replacing the battery no problem
Inviato dal mio LG-D802 utilizzando Tapatalk
Unlock the bootloader, get twrp, mount /system/, delete /system/app/TegraOTA/
You will need to fastboot flash all updates from now on. Always nuke the OTA updater.
if you re-install the stock rom does it include the tegraota?

Should I take the OTA while rooted?

I asked this question recently on a wrong thread, but I just wanna make sure. I just received an OTA (8.0 MB) update, should I take the update?.
My phone is rooted, with TWRP 3.0.
Nope i guess that the recovery is going to prevent the success of the update
Inviato dal mio P6000 Pro utilizzando Tapatalk
TWRP and root, or either or will prevent OTA. I am not sure about systemless, but I assume it is the same deal.
