Hi!
I have made a bit of confusion regarding the windows 8.1 situation...I'm actually have this situation:
PC: WIndows 8.1 x64 update 1
AMD FX cpu
Asus 990FX am3+ socket mainboard with Asmedia USB 3.0 ports ( so not direclt from the AMD chipset )
Phone: HTC One S [S4]
So if I have understand correctly HTC has released the driver to make the One S recognized under windows 8.1 x64 BUT fastboot keep be not working under windows 8.1 ?

I didn't find a solution with my windows so I use Ubuntu live cd for fastboot. To enable this open a terminal type 'sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb androit-tools-fastboot' and you are ready. Use sudo fastboot in every command.

Never got it working on win8.1, but tbh I gave up months ago. I'll prolly flash back to Win8.1 soon, and try this update.

Hi, I will receive my phone on Wednesday. Someone who have the phone can tell me if he can use fastboot on windows 8.1 ?
With my old xperia arc I get device failed enumeration error (no problems with windows 8, only 8.1)

I don't have the N5 yet, but fastboot works fine with my N4 on Windows 8.1. I would imagine it works fine though.
It may also be wise to update to the latest platform-tools rev.19

Ok Thanks, this is what i want to hear:laugh:
My arc S also has the same issue on 8.1, whereas my Xperia Z works fine. An issue with the arc S it seems, not a universal issue.
Using a Nexus 5 and Windows 8.1 and I can confirm that both ADB and Fastboot work with no problems.

It works fine with Windows 8.1 once you get the drivers working. I had a bit of a delay getting Windows to let me install a driver it didn't trust. I had to run some command lines, reboot and try the install again. If you run into the same problem, I can post the commands.

Hi everyone,
I need a little help here as I find myself stuck between a lot of possibilities and I don't know which one to take or generally what to do.
My girlfriend has an HTC One S4 with unlocked bootloader (HBOOT 2.15), recovery installed, running Viper ROM 3.1.
However because she only has the 1.15 RADIO on the device it tends to reboot quite a lot and she can't have a phone that reboots that often to use on a daily basis.
I want to S-OFF the device so I can upgrade the RADIO.
I've heard of Moonshine method and rumrunner method, however both of these only work with fastboot drivers installed and working.
This is not the case for her S4. I have a desktop (win 8.1, with USB 2 and USB 3.0) and a laptop (win 8.0 with only USB 3).
And none of them can find the device when it is connected while in fastboot. Therefore I can't S-OFF the device that way..
Could anyone point me in the right direction or have some suggestions on what to do?

No I haven't tried with an Ubuntu Live CD, and tbh I'm not that well known in the Linux systems.
Well I installed the Google Drivers from the "Android SDK Manager" and I tried a lot of different methods I found on posts alike.
The problem is that neither of my two computers can find the device when it's connected and in fastboot.

Is it a unbranded phone hboot 2.15 eu ??
For me Facepalm was the only wotking one.
The biggest problem is that without adb and fastboot working, you probably won't get anywhere.
The reason I mentioned the Ubuntu live CD is that I have working fastboot and adb and still had problems with windows 7.
I finally created the Ubuntu live CD (actually USB) and it worked. It doesn't take too long to create the live CD/USB and it's worth a try.

Well tbh I don't know if it is unbranded - Since I don't know what that term means.
We live in Denmark and I think she got the phone from germany - bought on a sale somewhere.
Whenever it was booting up (before I rooted and unlocked the bootloader) it came with a splash screen saying "T-Mobile".
Does that mean it is branded to T-Mobile?

The LiveCD/LiveUSB sounds like an idea and will be my first attempt after "trying" Win 7.
Does the moonshine S-OFF method only support Stock ROM/Firmwares?
I guess I am to try the rumrunner method once on the LiveCD/LiveUSB.
Thanks in advance and again I will return when I know more

I am sitting on a LiveUSB right now, but I find that the instructions on the rumrunner webpage doesn't work.
Any suggestions?
It goes through the first steps and I will get to answer ''Yes'' twice.
After a please wait message I get: "ERROR: run rumrunner again and READ (no adb connection to device. Debugging on? Drivers?)
I followed the instructions to perfection. Will I need to install drivers on Linux?

Do you have USB Debugging on? When you are booted into the phone and connected to the computer. Type adb devices and see if it returns a valid value (not offline).
No, you don't have to install drivers on Linux. Also I never was able to get anything but moonshine.io working.

Well USB debugging is enabled on the device, however it doesn't show the USB debugging icon on the phone that it does when connected to a Windows PC.
I will try to check is ADB is active later tonight.
** I have checked the forums for answers. Nothing works so far. **
Description of problem:
- Fastboot USB will not work.
- I get errors on windows when my device is connected that last time it malfunctioned and it has no driver.
- Waiting for device when issuing commands.
- Other USB errors. I'm guessing attributed to the lack of driver.
More info:
- I run Windows 8.1
- I had tons of problems with my phone before and I don't know if when I fixed the problems I did a mistake and made more.
- Hboot 2.15

Fastboot doesn't work with Windows 8.1, you need to downgrade to Windows 8 or lower.

I've seen people claim to have it working, but never on this device, and drivers are device specific.

Did you not read this thread? There are no fastboot drivers for Windows 8.1, the only way I've seen people getting around this fact is by downgrading Windows.

If something doesn't make sense to you that's doesn't mean the idea is wrong.
You are not installing driver TO A tablet. You are installing drivers to a Windows for the Windows to be able communicate with the device in ADB mode.
Win XP is a no-go. The drivers I provided in my link work with your tablet 100% when installed in Windows 7 32/64.
This is a proven fact.
So try them on a Win7 computer
Got it. I guess I'll be visiting my friends house soon I really hope the drivers work, I'll report back as soon as I can. Thanks.

Hello everyone,
I've been a member since the I had my Sony Xperia X10 and Samsung Galaxy S3 and both phones were rooted using xda forums. I greatly appreciate this community and should contribute more but I'm not that advanced as most users here. I do have a little some experience tinkering around with the computer but I'm mainly a hardware type of guy and know only a little on software.
But here is my problem. I tried a few methods of trying to root my One Plus One and had little success. I came to a conclusion that it's a driver issue. When i use the command adb devices, it wouldnt show any devices. When I look in the device manager with my OPO plugged in, the drivers are missing. I tried to manually download android sdk and install from there but still no luck. I tried using the GUI toolboxes which has the adb and drivers to install. But still came out with no luck.
Can anyone assist me with my situation? When I turn on Developer Options and checked Android Debugging and USB Debugging Notify, I would not get the message to confirm and give access to the computer. I can open all folders in Windows 7 of my OPO and I use the original data cable supplied with my phone.
Thanks in advance!
Try manually installing the correct driver in device manager. Chances are that Windows is picking a matching but incompatible driver from your old device or tries to be smart.
