[Review] Doogee DG550 Kitkat OctaCore Phablet - Android General

The New DOOGEE DG550 was announced few month ago and after long delay if was finally last month. I know that many buyers jump the ship
and got other smartphones instead, since I have promised you a review I kept my word and bought this device a month ago from Banggood and received it after 13 days
I was very happy - it's very beautiful device.
I have also made custum CWM recovery for it vie MTK DroidTools + MIUI ported Rom -you can download it from NeedRom:

Hardware
OS: Android 4.2.2
CPU: Mediatek MTK6592 1.7Ghz Octa-core
GPU: Mali450 700MHz
Memory: 1 GB RAM / 16 GB Storage
External Storage: MicroSD up to 32GB
Screen: 5.5” HD (1280×720) display
Rear-facing Camera: 8MP with1080p video at 30fps
Front-facing Camera: 2.1 MP with 480p video
Wireless: Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 a/b/g/n
Battery: 2600 mAh (removable)
Full Specifications:
Appearance and build quality:
The DOOGEE seems well built, feels solid in hand and looks really good, on the sides it's real metal stripes that contribute to the premium appearance.
On the top you got the microUSB port and 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the right its the power button - doesn't feels loose.
On left it's the volume rocker -doesn't feels loose.
On the button ther is only the Mic- there is no stereo speakers- its fake.
The back of the device - you can see the microSim and regular Sim slot+ microSD slot.:
Actual device weight- 185.9g
Size comperrison VS iPone 4:
Little problem that I have found while using the smartphone in dark room- the capacitive buttons back-light bleed :
In realty it less obvious.
Call Quality and Speaker:
The call quality is average among this Chinese smartphones in the same price range but I must say that JIAYU F1 receiver has better sound with more Bass to it, the speaker is loud enough but lakes deep sound- it's more metallic sound.
Android "4.2.9"
Then funny thing with some Chinese brands is that they sometime "Develop" their on android versions -this time it's 4.2.9
DOOGEE DAGGER DG550 comes with android JB 4.2.2, some chines apps were pre-installed that I have deleted them after gaining root accses with Frameroot app :good:.
The Ui is nice, and it smooth, DOOGEE has promised Android KitKat 4.4.2 update next month via OTA - hope they will keep up their promise this time.
Display:
DOOGGE DAGGER DG550 uses 5.5" 720P IPS OGS panel, the colors are vivid, great viewing angels and good brightness for outdoor use.
The touch screen is responsive and accurate-no issues like in DG350, I have no complaint about the screen &digitizer quality .
There is magnetic sensor on the front to support smart case - turn screen on & off when you open and close the flip case.
Camera:
The DOOGEE DG550 comes with 8MP OV8825 back camera sensor and 2MP GC2235 front camera sensor:
I was disappointing to find out that DOOGEE uses old 8MP camera for their latest 2014 flagship device, fortunately
the MTK6592 image processioning algorithms produce nice photos and I am pleased .
Here are some Samples images from the back camera- Click for 100% size:
_____HDR OFF_____________ HDR ON
GPS:
I have tested the GPS over 45KM trip- had no problems, the Firs fix can take up-to 30sec but afterwords the fix is fast and GPS performs OK.
Wi-Fi:
Wi-Fi reception is good and later I will add the Wi-Fi analyzer test results.
MTK 6592 Performance:
The MTK6592 OctaCore got really popular lately, replacing the good old MTK6589T and now we can find this OctaCore in devices under 200$!
MTK6592 offers really good performance in very affordable price, now you can find this SOC in smartphones under 150$ with free shipping!.
For 720P displays this SOC offers fluid experiences and lag free UI Transition Animation.
Antutu V5 Preview!
AntutuX:
Battery:
The DOOGEE DG550 comes with 2600mAh battery, it looks that the capacity rating is legit- it weighs 46.8grams:
Later I will add Battery Log.
Conclusion
THe DOOGEE DAGGER DG550 looks ike really nice device, it has great design, solid build, great performance and really nice 5.5" HD OGS display ,
I just wish DOOGEE used better quality speakers and it could be really great Smartphone.
My Score: 8/10 because of the Speakers quality and capacitive buttons back-light bleed .

So which is correct? Which do we believe?
Perhaps, one is optical and one is software interpolation specification?

Has anyone acquired this phone yet? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
I want to acquire one through banggood, and there isn't that much info so far

This device interests me as it can be had for 166 USD right now on presale, does anyone know the size of simcards it takes? I need at least one of the slots to be normal minisim not micro sim or nanosim.
The rest looks good and its nice and thin.
I'm on the fence between this and a thl t200c mostly because this is so thin and cheap, the t200 supports the sim size and frequencies I need but its almost twice the price, it also has a much better camera but there are no details about the dg550 camera yet.

Good phone
Hi.
Good Day.
Sorry for my bad english
Is it really a 13-megapixel rear camera? Or 8?
does it has Auto-Focus?
Does it has Digital-Compass?
Does it support Gyroscope & OTG & LED Notification?
Is the edges 6.5 mm? Or average body thickness?
Does the new series (which will be released in May) more efficient (In terms of quality & Features) than previous series? or similar?
Thanks...

I have pre-ordered a DooGee DG550 from GeekBuying, I'll be doing a video unboxing, review and rooting tutorial when I receive it.

Looking forward to your review.

Run the proper tests when you get it. These devices seldom have the hardware they claim they do.

In my experience, which is limited to 2 chinese MTK devices, the hardware has been accurately advertised, I researched them heavily before I purchased them though and only from distributors with a good word of mouth reputation, however I do intend to get all up inside this machine, including popping the cover and doing an "XDA unboxing" of sorts, probably wont pull all the components out but you will get a look at the board etc.
Feel free to leave requests in this thread for apps to run and benchmark and specific things to find out.

Sorry I totally missed this, the "pre-sell" stops at 17th of MAY 2014, and then will be express shipped to me, so I expect to have it before the 23rd of May.

at&t appears to use the correct frequencies for 3G on this phone (850Mhtz) taken from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT&T_Mobility#Radio_frequency_summary
I'm buying it based on the same frequency that Telstra use in Australia for 3G
The MTK6592 (The SoC in this phone) appears to have solved most of the GPS problems with older MTK chips from reviews on other MTK6592 based systems.

We have some rumors for metalic back like the OEM ONE.
If someone have hands on experience let as know more about
So guys the rumors about metalic back is not true.
The back cover is made out of hard plastic, which looks like hard metal or brushed aluminium, but once again, it’s plastic.
Here You have a SD and Battery change tutorial from Mayiandy

Your conclusion is wrong. The person in this video is not having the PLUS version. He only has the normal iHTC One. The normal version only have plastic backcover, the PLUS version have real metal backcover.
Why I can see that? Check his video where he runs a AnTuTu benchmark, he gets 13286, that is for the 1.2GHZ version. The iHTC One Plus have 1.5Ghz and a clear score over 14000.

Multicorechina.com are writing their articles based on info from the net. They write in the title that it is about "iHTC One Plus", but funny they show pictures in the article with the regular iHTC One (non plus), they have even used screenshots from my Youtube video here, for the backcover screenshots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK_1Smk8Pcs (my video comparison from 10/7, from the iHTC One vs. HTC One). And my unboxing video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po3ZhPvKABY
UPDATE: I have been kindly contacted by Multicorechina.com afterwards, and they are now crediting me correct, so it's ok with me.

I have the iHTC One, not the iHTC One Plus - there is a difference. Just telling you that you link to people who claim to be reviewing the Plus version, but they actually just have written about the normal iHTC One with plastic backcover. But if you ordered the Plus version, then I am looking forward to hear about your review, and to see if it is metal backcover on yours or not.
Hey Guys,
I'm really interested in buying the IHTC ONE PLUS, the only thing that is holding me back is the plastic back
So I'll be waiting for Techcat' review if the back is made out of metal, I will place my order straight away.
still plastic cover .... for iHTC OnePlus

Hello,
I got my iHTC ONE Plus yesterday and it still has the plastic back Cover....
And the speakers are also not Stereo...so there are still some differences to check it very easily against an original HTC One.
But for this money it is an amazing phone with superb screen.
Black is more black as the original.... I have bot and compared it...even to open the cam is faster than the original one.
So buy it and have fun with it.

Thanks for your reply,
But since you have it I hope you don't mind me asking some questions,
How would you rate the build quality of it?
What do you think of It's Battery life?
and Lastly do you think It's worth spending $280 on it? (since Aussie Dollar is a bit low these days and I have to pay ems shipping).
cheers.

Hello again,
The build quality is really good.
It really looks like the original and i heard that you can even use the original case.
Battery life i can not say anything about it now. I got it yesterday but will update once i used it all the time.
I think you will hardly find a better and stylisher phone for this price.
You can buy it if you can live without stereo speakers and HTC sense...because it is only original google !

Hello again,
The phone is up since 19 h 8 m 6s and the battery is at 92% with WLAN on and Sim Card inserted....
So really NO DRAIN at all.... I am a little impressed of that because my original HTC One is loosing much more battery at the same time when doing nothing with it....
Hello NeoBrain,
Did you get the phone with Htc packaging, I received it today in a white box and the back was a sticker with a logo from Hdc, while it should be a IHTC?
Can not test it because the battery is dead, I have to give the phone time for charging.
I will make a little (Youtube) movie in the weekend.
Greetings
I just got a iHTC one too. Not the plus one but it's very nice phone and looking for a custom rom and some other stuff too. lol :fingers-crossed:
But if the “plus” version is different only for the processor (6589T instead 6589) how can we recognize exactly the version of plus or normal model.
I see on the fastcardtech’ s video the system datas are fakes (cpu 1700 mhz , gpu adreno…)
Who has already received “plus” version can post benchmark or something else showing the difference, to test really if a mtk6589t is equipped?

So FCT are lying about it beeing metal? I find that strange - because there is no real reason to lie. Maybe they by mistake send you the normal iHTC One? can you post screenshots of AnTuTu benchmark? what score do you get? There MUST be some difference from iHTC One vs. iHTC One Plus.

Acube Talk 7X (Quad Core) Hands-on - A Nice Voice-calling Tablet

In spite of all the scorn poured out on tablets with voice-calling support, they are the rage in China, with all tablet manufacturers trying to grab a slice of the market. The domestic voice-calling tablet segment is growing with a number of launches from both Chinese and international manufacturers such as Samsung, Lenovo, ASUS.
On the lower end of this market segment, one of the latest voice-calling tablets is the Acube Talk 7X (Quad Core). The Talk 7X (Quad Core) is the refreshed version of the original Talk 7 and Talk 7X, which were respectively released in October and December, 2013. Much like the original Fonepad, the new Talk 7X (Quad Core) comes with a MediaTek processor, supports voice-calling and in addition, it comes with upgraded specifications. But, can it do enough to unseat some very high profile competition? We take a look.
Key Features:
◇7 inch PLS display at WSVGA resolution (1024X600 pixels)
◇Weighs 320g, 191.2*106.5*9.9mm in size.
◇MediaTek MT8382 SoC., 1.2GHZ Qual-core Cortex-A7 processor, Mali-400MP2 GPU, 1GB RAM
◇Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
◇8GB of built-in-storage, expandable by TF card
◇VGA front-facing camera; 2.0MP rear-facing camera
◇Stereo speaker
◇GPS
◇Bluetooth V4.0
◇GSM/WCDMA, full phone functionalities.
◇FM Radio
◇USB on the go
◇MicroSD card slot
◇Standard 3.5mm audio jack
◇1080p video playback
◇3000mAh Li-Po rechargeable battery, 5-6 hours battery life
Design and Build
The Talk 7X’s front houses a 7-inch display surrounded by a black bezel. The front panel does not include any branding, which I would consider a good tradition by the Chinese maker. Thanks to the Jelly Bean's onscreen navigation keys, which mean the front of the device is devoid of physical buttons, leaving simply the black bezel with an earpiece, a VGA camera, a light sensor and a proximity sensor.
On the right side of the device are the rather excellent buttons, with the one piece volume rocker sited just below the power button. They have a very responsive feel and are easy to find with your fingertips. The buttons are colored white to match the finish of the rear side, blending in nicely.
Unusually, the Talk 7X has its micro-USB port located on the top of the device next to the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. While it's uncommon to find the USB port on the top of a tablet of this size, it is ergonomically sound as the Talk 7X is simple to use while charging.
The positioning of this port also helps reduce the costs of manufacturing the tablet, as the circuit board has the connection for the port at the top. Acube has avoided running a cable to the bottom of the tablet as it had to on the original Talk 7.
The 2MP rear camera is housed in the upper left corner of the white glossy plastic back, which gives the tablet a somewhat cheap feeling.
Actually, this upper part of the back is removable, underneath are the dual SIM slot and Micro SD card slot.
You could also find an aperture in the lower middle, along with some of the information Acube wants you to see.
Measuring at 191.2*106.5*9.9mm, it is smaller than most of the 7-inch voice calling tablet. The only smaller 7-incher with phone functionalities I can think of is the Huawei MediaPad X1, which, of course, is many times more expensive than the 7X.
Holding the Talk 7X with one hand between thumb and forefingers is a comfortable grip that can be maintained for some time, no doubt due to its relative lightness and weight balance.
Display and Sound
Unlike many other budget tablets, The Talk 7X hasn't skimped on the screen. It has the same PLS display used on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, comfortably beating the TN displays featured by the Lenovo A1000 and Ainol AX2, which it is in direct competition against.
The 7-inch PLS display the Acube Talk 7X (Quad Core) sports has a resolution of 1024*600 (PPI=169), obviously not quite as good as the best in the business, but it's a step up on the previous Talk 7, which only has a TN display.
Being a PLS LCD screen, it has fantastic viewing angles, even better than most of the IPS panels widely used on Chinese tablets. It does suffer from a little more glare than I would like and the color balance seems a little favored towards a yellowish tint, but these are minor complaints.
Some users will probably find it uncomfortable to be able to discern individual pixels on the display at a typical viewing distance, as most of smartphone displays we look at every day have already gone beyond the so-called retina standard. However, this 7-inch screen still has a much higher pixel density than most of the laptops and PC monitors, thus it should not be much of a problem for tight-budgeted users.
Interface and Software
The Talk 7X runs the Android 4.2.2 OS, along with a healthy amount of customizations on top of it, but nothing to break the head-to-toe Android feel.
The Google Play store works brilliantly on the Talk 7X, with easy access to all the popular apps and games you could want. However there remains a dearth of tablet apps, a space where Google has struggled to engage developers, especially when you compare it to the wealth of high-quality apps made for the iPad.
Seven-inch tablets suffer much less though, as many phone apps still work brilliantly at this smaller tablet screen size.
Benchmarks
The Talk 7X is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 processor (Quad-core cortex-A7, Mali-400MP2) with 1GB RAM, which is a huge leap forward compared to its dual core predecessors.
General system performance is reliable and relatively speedy, the Antutu Benchmark test returned a decent 16010, matching the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and besting the ASUS Transformer Prime.
The 5636 Quadrant test result was also surprisingly solid.
The notching in Geekbench2 test was sound, but not very promising.
In the more graphic-focused Nenamark2 and 3D Mark tests, the 7X also did very well.
The browser performance was also proven to be super-solid, the Vellamo test returned an astonishing 1903, putting this $80 device in the same league as the mighty Galaxy S4. And this promise is further proven by the notch in the CF-bench test.
Performance
The way the Acube Talk 7X performs in real world also transcends its budget offering and low price. It's obviously nowhere near the top of the league and sometimes does feel like a machine from the past, but it handily beats many of the pricier cellular tablets such as the Lenovo A3000 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. The 1.3GHz quad-core processor churns through tasks at a fair pace and it's certainly not unpleasant to use.
The animations when swiping between home screens and loading apps show some jitter at times, but there are no real delays. Apps load fast enough, but the difference in performance between the Talk 7X and my LG Optimus G Pro (Snapdragon 600) is noticeable.
Most games play well once loaded as the graphics processing capability of the 7X is actually very good, and with the screen resolution a notch down from that full 1080P, there are no issues.
Playing 1080P videos on the desktop YouTube page is smooth, and the touchscreen remained responsive to any sort of operations.
Multi-tasking works as well as you would expect given the 1GB of RAM on board. Switching apps is fast and painless, but there is a low limit on the number of big apps that can remain in memory. This isn't a reason to run a task killer, since Android manages its memory very efficiently.
The only time this lack of RAM can be an issue is if you have many tabs open in a web browser. Switching to a browser tab that's not in memory will cause the page to reload. Ultimately though, the memory is sufficient for pleasant enough operation.
Connectivity
The Chinese manufacturer has been promoting the Talk 7X tablet as a complete device, which has both phone and tablet qualities. Thankfully, the voice-calling feature on the 7X lives up to the expectation. The call quality on the 7X was impressive and the tablet was able to latch on to cellular networks even in weak signal areas which came in handy at times. There's also Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio and GPS on board. The Talk 7X comes in a single 8GB model, but the storage is expandable with Micro SD card of up to 32GB.
Camera
I am not a big fan of the idea of taking pictures with a tablet, to put it mildly, but if a manufacturer is going to include a camera it had better be decent. The Acube Talk 7X’s camera…. is not.
What we're talking about here is a 2MP camera with no flash assistance. Don't even think about grabbing those Instagram-friendly macro shots here. You'll be sorely disappointed, as the backgrounds tend to come out clear leaving the foreground a blurry mess.
That extends to general shots. Images end up washed out, noisy and lacking in vibrancy and color accuracy.
The front-facing camera can get the online video chatting done, but you would never use it for selfie.
Battery
Despite having a fairly small 3000mAh battery capacity, Acube has managed to endow the Talk 7X with decent endurance by using a fairly efficient chipset. In constant use, the tablet is easily capable of 5-6 hours' screen time, which is considered pretty good at the budget end of the market.
The system did very well in standby, idle drain is negligible even with wireless connected.
Thanks to its standard micro USB port, charging the tablet is easy: it accepts any standard cable and is fast to charge for a tablet (With its standard 5V-2A plug it only took about 2 hours to finish a full charge).
Verdict
There's obviously nothing outstandingly good about the Talk 7X, but neither is there anything outstandingly bad. This is a budget tablet that actually exceeds my expectations in many ways. It's keenly priced and very capable.
The good:
For a device in this market segment, the Talk 7X has a PLS LCD screen, with nice color saturation, contrast, brightness and viewing angle, although the 1024 x 600 resolution seems like it's from a bygone era before 720p became the entry-level resolution for phones.
Audio through the built-in speakers is loud and reasonably clear, making this a great tablet for watching videos and listening to music.
Dual-SIM support is pretty useful for people who need two different mobile phone numbers.
At RMB499 ($80), it is affordable both as a phone and a tablet, and its performance is much better than the price would suggest.
The bad:
The rear-facing camera is a pretty poor effort from Acube and there's no real value in including it at this price at all.
The glossy plastic shell gives the tablet a cheap kind of feel, and has low resistance to scratches.
A 7-inch budget tablet that also wants to be a phone sounds like a silly idea. But the Acube Talk 7X is, in use, entirely sensible. It is stonkingly good value if a low-cost portable tablet is what you’re after.

Thanks and to answer the question, Acube and Ainol probably have the best quality.

I got in touch with Cube's support staff and they told me that their factory are testing Android 4.4.2 and that it should be released in a couple of days.
I've ordered this tablet, for slightly less than $110 it seems like great value for money. Hopefully I won't be disappointed once I receive it.
I do think Cube could have skipped the rear camera and increased the battery capacity a little instead. (Though I suppose it makes sense to have a rear camera if you use it as your main phone/tablet/phablet, I will mostly use the tablet for movies and games)

very nice review .
i also have this tablet for like a week now and i am very surprised to see that it manages almost every task with such ease.
the only thing in don't like about this tablet is the display unfortunately, ythe colors are not saturated, ther red is quite pinkish blue and green don't have too much power.
i am thinking of calibrating the colors but i don't seem to find an app to do this.
what do you guys think i should do?
thanks in advance
best regards,

I think you're used to the very oversaturated samsung colours.
I bought this thing 3 weeks ago as an experiment to get my family onto skype.
Conclusion:
This is a supercheap-supertablet,
I compared it next to an Ipad-air(with a comic), and the colours almost match 100% (in my eyes)
viewing angles are excellent, and performance also (compared to price)
We also have a Galaxy Tab2 7", and this little cheap thing (that even can make calls!) outperforms it roughly.
Wow, after 4 years of membership.....finaly, my first post!

ThL T6 Pro Review - MTK 6592M, 1GB RAM, 5" HD

Just a small note up first: You can read this review in a nicer format with all pictures in high resolution (including the camera pictures) on my blog :
http://klonom.com/thl-t6-pro/
The ThL T6 Pro is a budget smartphone with 5″ HD display, MTK 6592M octa core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB ROM. It is an improved version of the ThL T6S (read the review here). I kindly received this phone from the Antelife shop. You can buy it for roughly 92€ plus sending right here from Antelife at the moment. You can find the review video like always at the end of the post.

Let’s start with the specifications of the happy phone:
Specifications:
-MTK 6592M Octa core processor, each up to 1.4 GHz
-Android 4.4.2 KitKat
-1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM
-MicroSD-Slot (up to 32 GB)
-8 MP back camera, 2 MP front camera
-5″ HD display (1280×720)
-GPS
-Sensors: Accelerometer, proximity and light
-1900 mAh battery (accoording to ThL)
-WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0
-2G & 3G (WCDMA)
-Smart Gesture
Items delivered:
The ThL T6 Pro is delivered in the ThL typical white carton box with a silver lettering on the top. Beside the phone itself, the following items are inside the box: USB plug (5 V, 500 mA), USB data/charging cable, half transparent plastic back shell, additional screen protection foil (one was already applied), a headset and a quick start guide. The quick start guide is the usual, few sites long introduction to Android KitKat. The headset feels relatively cheap, it is very light and the headphones resemble to “1-Euro-Shop” ones.
First Impressions:
Something which you notice immediately while unpacking is that the T6 Pro is identical to the T6S from the outer appearence (read the review here). You could switch the both phones and you would first notice while powering on, because also the delivered accesoires are the same. This is not meant to be negative comment, since already the T6S gives a valuable impression and has small optical highlights. The phone has a bar shape, while the top and bottom edges are not straight, but slightly elliptical. Additionally the top and bottom edges are completely rounded off, so it creates the impression of being made in one cast in the first moment.
On the front side you can find the three control elements menu, home and back (from left to right), which are applied in silver color. They do not have a backlight, which is a bit troublesome in the dark. This downside is probably due to the low price. The power button is placed on the right side. I already liked the design of the buttons at the T6S because it is made out of transparent plastic, which makes them nearly invisible.
The same applies to the volume rocker on the left side. Both buttons are embraced by a silver ring, pretty nice in my opinion.
The back has a slightly rippled structure. On the back there are the camera, the flash and the loudspeaker.
Both ports are placed on the upper edge of the ThL T6 Pro, one 3.5 mm headphone jack and a MicroUSB port. The MicroUSB port placed on the upper edge is a small downside for me, since a longer USB cable is needed in case you want to use the phone while charging.
The phone is fed with two SIM cards, one “normal” (mini) sized and one micro. Both are placed at the same place facing each other. Beside the SIM slot you can find the MicroSD slot. The battery needs to be removed for either changing the SIMs or MicroSD. All in all, the phone feels valuable in comparison to its price.
UI/Android:
The ThL T6 Pro is running Android 4.4.2 KitKat just like its weaker twin the T6S. Also the slightly modified launcher is used. It is the normal KitKat stocklauncher, but with different icons. Every icon has a rounded, colorfull tile as a background. I personally like the design moderately, but since it can be changed easily this is not a big criteria. The swiping through the menu works without lags.
Performance:
To determine the performance a bit more subjective, I ran the Antutu Benchmark Version 5. The “budget-alternative” T6S scored roughly 19000 points. The improved version with MTK6592M scores around 26500 points. This is a pretty neat result, especially when being compared to the result of the iNew V3 Plus for example, which has the same SoC but 1 GB RAM more, but “just” scores around 20000 points (look here). I did not notice any lags or similiar while playing. Additionally a sample screen of CPU-Z.
Memory:
The ThL T6 Pro officially has 8 GB ROM. In the default state around 6 GB are usable. The memory is divided into phone and internal memory. The memory which can be used for apps is around 2 GB big, while roughly 300 MB are taken in the default state. There is not much bloatware installed: an additional app store, baidu browser, a speedup app, a torch app and a chineses “game center”. The memory can be extended with a MicroSD card, officially up to 32 GB. I just tried a 16 GB card successfully. The ThL T6 Pro does not support USB OTG.
Camera:
...check my blog post for the camera pictures and information
http://klonom.com/thl-t6-pro/
Display:
As already mentioned, the display is a 5″ IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720p. The display is flawlessly and for an IPS display typical a quite big viewing angle. In my opinion it is not an OGS.
Sensors:
The phone has three different sensors in total: light, proximity and accelerometer. All three sensors I could test successfully with the app “Sensor Box”. Just the light sensor does not seem to work reliable all the time: While testing the sensor stuck at the probably maximum of 640 luxes. I can not estimate, if this is a single or series problem.
GPS:
The first GPS fix out of the box was really fast: just about 10 s and the first fix was done. In the next minute the accuracy increased to about 4 m. Beside this, the GPS did not really convince me. Shortly after the first fix, I noticed that GPS test showed a speed – although I was standing at one point. While test navigation with Google Maps I noticed strong drifting of the GPS location. Also while slowly stopping at a traffic light, the GPS signal partly drifted on for about 10-20s, untill it found the right location. Also while standing at one point the GPS location party jumped right around. I just tested the GPS in the out of the box state, it maybe could be improved by GPS tweaks.
Reception:
I did not encounter any odd attributes with the reception. At all places I had the average normal reception, same goes for the WiFi. Also the bluetooth works well for me, I tried it several days with bluetooth headsets.
Misc:
The ThL T6 Pro has a notification LED at the top left in red. It works out of the as a notification LED. The phone is delivered not rooted and preinstalled with Google Apps. The T6 Pro supports “Smart Gestures“. The battery has a capacity of 1900 mAh (according to ThL) and holds surprisingly long. At the end of the day a had around 50% while using it average.
Review Video:
Conclusion:
I personally like the price-performance ratio of the ThL T6 Pro. It improves most of the weak points of the T6S and makes it to more than a replacement phone. This is under the requirement that not a good GPS is needed or it can be improved personally. All in all the phone gives a great performance for a budget price.

I would call it acceptable. It is not really good, means there is some "jumping around" and drifting. But with some tweaks it should be at least OK for using it for simple navigation. But if you are really depending on the GPS feature I would not recommend this phone.

Hello, just a quick question. Will I be able to get Cyanogen on this and if it's possible where can I find a guide on how to do this? Thanks.

[REVIEW] uleFone Be Touch: 5,5" IPS, 4G, 64bits octa-core CPU, 3GB RAM, fingerprint
uleFone is one of new Chinese brands making good things lately. And in the same way some players are doing, they also wanted to present something interesting before the summer period.
But they want to be like "the others", so they have come with an amazing smartphone which they have presented as their flagship device for the season: the uleFone Be Touch
Something very interesting, since this brand is very young. They’ve worked designing and making parts for other brands during years, but it wasn’t until 2014 they moved to manufacture their own smartphones.
When I opened the box my first though was about that size "It's huge!". But then, I started it and as Megan Trainor sings... "It's all about that bass"
Only that smartphone is not fat at all, it's very thin and light. It's even thinner than other thin devices like the Siswoo Cooper i7 I reviewed some weeks ago.
But let's go step by step.
Design and package
The box is quite standard, white, same shape that we can typically find for the iPhones or Samsung devices, for example. With a sticker showing some info and then most of the specifications on the bottom part.
Once opened, we can see the amazing Be Touch with its huge screen inside a soft bag and on the lower level, we have all the rest which is USB cable, charger (attention 1.5A! more than common units), headphones and quick start guide in English and other European languages... it's not something very necessary (we all know how to start the phone and take a picture) but it's really the first time I see it. And not one single item in Chinese. Sincerely that feels like more quality.
I live you that video with those impressions and something more:
Summarizing, on the front we have the 5,5" screen. On the top, frontal camera for selfies...with flash!!, light and proximity sensor. And on the bottom we have the navigation buttons: menu, back and home... which integrates a great surprise in form of fingerprint reader. Of all that I will talk more in detail.
On the left side we will find the lock/power and the volume buttons.
Going to the bottom side, just the micro and speaker (very iPhone-like). We have the holes for micro USB and jack exit on the top side, and nothing at all on the right side.
If we flip the phone, on the rear part we will see the main camera (using the Sony IMX214 4th gen sensor) with dual led flash and on the middle the uleFone logo.
All that within very tight dimensions of 158.1x77.4x8.6mm and another advantage is that it fits very well on the hand. It’s true that it’s big, but it doesn’t slip.
Hardware specifications
When you put the mark "flagship" over a product, you really want to mean that device is your top-range. Especially when you are a new player on the field and you want to set up what is your quality level and left aside your “Chinese stamp mark”. The Be Touch is much more than 64 bit octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM…So here it is what hides inside this thin beast.

Regarding the connectivity, needless to say it fully covers all our needs. The WiFi connects and transfers very fast, probably the improvements from Lollipop help, because I haven’t had any troubles of losing signal (as it happened with other devices). I have tried the BT with headphones (Digicare DO) and also with a BT keyboard, working both very well, quick pairing.
The SIM (standard and micro sizes) are located just next to the microSD slot, so sincerely a little bit hard to introduce the card, but once done, the networks are fast detected and connected, so I could use 3G/4G and also make calls very successfully. The voice is very clear and with enough volume.
Display
This is one of the most attracting points of this device. Its 5,5” IPS OGS screen with Corning Gorilla Glass of 3rd generation offers a resolution of 1280x720ppp. I can say that up to the date it’s the best display I’ve seen on a not first brand phone. The quality of the colors and the bright is amazing.
It comes with the dynamic control (adaptive brightness), so it automatically adapts to the lighting conditions to increase or reduce the bright level, making perfectly viewable even under sunshine.
Following the last trends, it also have the “Off-Screen Gesture” function, each time more common and sincerely very useful, since we can program several applications or functions to start without having to unlock the phone: camera, radio, calendar,.. any of the installed apps can be started by drawing a pattern on the locked screen.
Camera
We arrive to one of the most critical points of each review, since normally the manufacturers include camera sensors with a high number of megapixels but not offering the expected quality. uleFone advised they wanted to make the difference and present a great device, so they equipped the Be Touch with a main camera of 13Mpx with a Sony IMX214 4th generation sensor. Apparently this should be a warranty, but we’ve seen many other phones with good lenses giving poor results.
Fortunately this is not (so much) the case with the Be Touch. Until now this is the best (Chinese) one on the quality of pictures and videos. There is still the point to improve when there are poor light conditions. But I repeat the quality even though is much better than with other smartphones.
Here below some examples:
Another surprise comes with the front camera, the chosen sensor is OV5648 from Omni Vision, a high-performance, low-cost 5-megapixel CameraChip sensor for smartphones and tablets, which uses the latest 1.4-µm OmniBSI+ pixel architecture. But what surprised me was to find a led flash next to this camera. No questions about the selfies fever we’re immersed on, so the flash is doubtless a way to increase the quality of our portraits.
Regarding the videos, you can see this FullHD sample recorded outdoors, and even using zoom the quality is really good.
Software
This model comes directly with Android 5.0 Lollipop, so very good news since we have the almost last version of Android since the beginning, with all the improvements already mentioned on different articles like the better battery consumption, more secure environment since first boot, RAM management, WiFi connectivity issues solved, OK Google,…
By the other hand, need to say, that no Chinese stuff (apps) were installed on the phone, very clear Android [Símbolo] Only an icon called “ulefone” which brings us to the manufacturer website.
Another of the key points on the Be Touch is the fingerprint scanner, integrated on the “Home” button. It works really fast (some people say it’s even faster than the TouchID on the iPhone 6), and the way it register new fingers is different from other sensors where we had to slide our fingers. On this case we just have to put the desired finger repeatedly on the sensor until we have the full print marked on red on the screen. Meaning it has been fully recorded.
My suggestion is to place the finger on different positions, so it catches it from different angles and completes the task faster. We can register up to 5 fingers, which is a significant improvement against other devices allowing only 3 prints.
Due to the size of its screen and its powerful hardware, the Be Touch is perfect for entertainment. I installed Kodi (formerly known as XBMC), so I can play FullHD movies and TV shows directly from my NAS over the LAN, without any lags, smoothly and with very high quality of image and sound.
Normally I just try some games like Asphalt or Fifa (no need to say they go like lightning), however, bearing in mind the fingerprint sensor I decided to install my company’s software and use it as mobile office.
Yes, the BYOD is a real trend all around us I installed MaaS360, and configured mail, agenda and other tools. Once again it’s not only the speed of everything I try, jumping quickly from one task to another, but also the size of the screen makes this device very comfortable to read emails, see (and edit) Office documents, use CRM tools… really comfortable, especially when I compared to y iPhone 5’s tiny screen.
Autonomy
As stated above on the specifications table, the Be Touch is equipped with a removable battery of 2.550mAh, more than enough for a full day with average use: calls, wifi browsing, emails, whatsapp, pictures, social networking, Office documents editing… and all that thinking that the use of corporate tools and apps consume more battery.
Conclusions
A couple of months ago I saw the announcement of the Xiaomi MiNote and I really liked it. I though it was a real alternative to first brands smartphones with quality enough and a restrained price. I sincerely didn’t know so much about uleFone yet, and others brand had showed important improvements but still not at a comparable level to first brands.
I’m not meaning that the Be Touch has the same quality of the last Samsung Galaxy S6, but honestly it’s getting close. uleFone should still improve the management of taking pictures with dark conditions and polish some other minor details.
When I opened the box, I presumed that phone was very powerful but maybe too big for a daily use and still had to test the camera results, I take pictures every day. After using it, I can say that it’s a very comfortable device, not heavy at all (just 160gr) and since it’s very thin, it fits very well on the pocket.
I completely recommend it if you are looking for a new smartphone with a lot of possibilities and for a moderated price, around 205€ with Etotalk.com

Just to complete the info from the review above, here some pictures putting the Be Touch (in black) together with an iPhone 6 (white)
Couple of questions.
1. How about the audio quality, through speaker, through headphone?
2. How much heat is generated by the phone when watching youtube or when playing games?
And Lastly, Can you upload some full size images? Thanks for a great review.:good:
Hi, answering your questions:
The sound is very good in both cases. For example, with the Elephone P3000S I clearly notice a lack of volume that I don't appreciate here, I mean watching movies, listening music,... more than enough. In addition the speaker is on the side, not in the bottom, so it always deliver at maximum
Regarding the temperature. After a couple of hours watching Gotham (I finished the 1st season recently hehe) chapters on the Be Touch, it was just a little hot, but for example the iPhone5 gets much much hotter when using 3G for long.
About the pictures... I have published the same review in here -> http://dabarsocialmarketing.blogspot.ie/2015/05/ulefone-be-touch-simply-amazing-with-64.html
I hope the pictures are bigger in size at least if you download them. I can tell you the quality is really good. Some friends viewed those pictures and asked me if they were the samples included on the phone or real pictures taken by me... that's why I take one of my dog (the same that appears on the video sample).
Until now it's from far, the best chinese phone I've used.
Cheers

Thanks again. But I think those captured pictures are softer in the edges, sharper in the center. May be a software prob.
What is the data rate of video files? (In different resolutions)
My question is actually what kind of sd card to buy for that phone?
Doesn't it make sense to go for the expensive ones with higher speeds or 10mb/s is enough?

Hi, bearing in mind that it records video on FullHD, I wouldn't take a slow card. Personally I always take class 10 at least. If you can take a UHS class it will be better. Think that it's not only the video recording, at least I use to put a lot of stuff on the SD, so accessing apps, taking pictures, games, videos,... everything falls on the SD card, so the fastest the better.
For me, the class 10 is working well.

Will this phone work with USA 4G/LTE? Specifically AT&T? I've heard the wifi range on it is pretty poor, can you confirm that?
Does anyone knows how to root this device? I tried with iRoot but didn't work.

yes this phone works with AT&T but no LTE does not work. as far as the wireless connection, this is true, it's not as strong as a g3 or an S five or an iPhone 6 but it isn't horrible. the build quality is very nice. it's worth what they're asking for it.

Review OUKITEL Pro K4000
Packaging, Content, Aesthetics:
The packaging is an orange rectangular carton that leaves not reveal anything about the type of smartphone, if not controlling on the back, which is based on the model and features, the package identical to the K4000 have seen before.
Box contents: Smartphone, 1 Power Adapter with USB jack Use 5V 1.5A White, 1 USB cable, a small instruction manual + warranty card and a cover of transparent silicone ..
- Smartphone External dimensions above average cinafonini 5 ", especially in the thickness; it measures 142 x 72 x 11.5mm for a little over weight 239g.
- Good quality construction, side frames of aluminum, the plastic back cover has an embossed simulated leather treatment, but the black version tends to retain fingerprints.
- On the left side we find the power button, while the right side is the volume rocker.
- On the upper side we find the audio jack and micro USB socket; on the inner side of the single microphone.
- In the back top center we find the camera of 8 megapixel f / 2.2 protruding Omnivision, then, slightly below the flash and lower the speaker.
- On the front we find at the top the capsule headset, 2Mpixel camera f / 2.8 (Omnivision) and the brightness / proximity sensors.
- The soft touch buttons are external to the screen and NOT are backlit; in this Pro K4000 then they have a red silkscreen really very visible on black.
- External Glass 2.5D with pre-applied film even if the characteristics of the glass make that the same do not protect the entire perimeter.
- Display brightness and pretty good viewing angles; HD IPS LCD screen that gives neutral colors and well-balanced, good sharpness for the category, good white balance but is not available on Miravision menu to the color balance, and white ..
- Touch sensitive and equipped with multi-touch 5-touch, quick writing and with swipe feature that you type with two fingers (used SwiftKey keyboard); unlike other low cost smartphone, typing seems much better and smoothly ..
- Two slots Mini + Micro Sim: 4G with 1,3,7,20 37,38,39,40 and bands, 850/900/1900/2100 3G 2G 850/900/1800/1900
- Presence MicroSD slot with head capacity up to 64Gb.
- Removable battery of 4600mAh declared that prove these also to the test with ammeter and that cover at least two intense days with no problem; weight about 86g.
- Android 5.1 stock of February 2016
- Open app and switching between apps discreet .. Chrome browser which is very good in navigation with decent rendering speed.
- Excellent management of internal rom 16Gb which are available in a partition to 12.3Gb for apps and data.
- Excellent management 2Gb ram from stock rom .. around 1.6GB of RAM left over after loading some apps into memory at startup.
connectivity:
WiFi b / g / n with no problem, stable coupling, good higher power to other entry level tested.
BT 4 tested pairing with headsets and other smartphones without problems
OTG: Properly functioning
GPS: discreet, outside has cold fixato in less than 20 seconds, 8 satellites, with an accuracy of 4 meters; despite not having Glonass compatibility, it seemed more stable than other entry level.
camera:
- Main camera Omnivision OV8858 f / 2 8Mpixel (13 Interpolated) producing discrete shots in daylight; discrete focus; camera interface Stock Mediatek. The flash is not very powerful and not suitable to cover situations of scenes in the dark, but with close subjects in emergency help; the photo module held at high ISO is not good, even after the 400 ISO the details begin to wane.
- Sufficient video performance with up files HD (1280x720) with 3GP / H264
- Second Camera for Selfies 2Mpixel f / 2.8 OV9670 (interpolated 5Mpixel), mediocre shots and videos.
Bench:
Antutu 6 just over 23000 punti..risultato in line with other MT6753P.
Geekbench 3 with 1299 points in the multi-core test and 468 in the single core test.
Geekbench Battery Test (over 18h and 32 'screen time and again on the 14% remaining battery life; in practice allows at least 8/9 of the screen on the full day of use with active data traffic.
Audio:
Decent sound quality, good the speaker volume and earbud (even slightly too high in this case), the other party has no problem and feel the item is free from noise and interference
the rear speaker position that unfortunately suffers from sound attenuation if we usually place the smartphone on the table.
Good vibration and sound with headphones.
conclusions:
PRO:
- About 100 € Price for a terminal with low range but with exceptional characteristics of battery.
- Battery of 4600mAh which will allow you up to two days of intense use and also 5 days of milder use.
- HD Display protected by glass extremely resistant tempered;
emblematic for the glass the next video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGE-5s3b5ec
- Glass rounded 2.5D showing good brightness, color and display viewing angle.
- Good assembly and finishing of the side frame.
- Dual Sim (Mini + Micro Sim) 4G with support to all Italian and Slot SD bands (possibility of using the SD app install)
- OTG supported.
- 2Gb Ram and 16GB Rom used optimally by Android 5.1 stock: 1.6GB of RAM and 12GB of free boot ROM available in single partition for app / data / music / download.
- Multitasting and management app with white and black lists for background apps and app permissions.
- Gestures screen off and double tap to wake up.
- Silicone Cover traparente well made.
AGAINST:
- Heavy, more than 239g of a 5 "will also feel and cumbersome for the high thickness (more than 11.5mm that if we add the cover become more than 13mm)
- Batteries that although high capacity could be better used by the software, showing some battery drain too.
- Pretty reflective screen and film applied that holds the footprints.
- Absence of the menu aims vision for color calibration and white balance.
- Soft touch backlit keys and NOT NO notification LED.
- Multi-tasking with the "row of app" to scroll to Flyme, it is not very accessible to switch to an app in the open memory long ago.
-Location Speaker on a back side which limits the volume if placed on a flat surface.
-Volume Speaker sometimes excessive and that makes scratchy loudspeaker.

If this is the case, and it IS a software issue and not a hardware limitation, THL has issued an update for the phone.

Report back as to the results of the update.
I'll try

Whoops,,,,,wrong post for the phone, I meant to post this on a different thread.....pay no attention to my post please.
Any updates? I was really excited about this..
anyone can tell how the rom performs ? All Hardware works ? I wanna try on k4000 (non pro), but first need some review info before running into hell
some progress?
I bought the oukitel 4000 pro for mothersday for my mom . and iam quite suprized to see that all is working fine without bugs . Even the 4g works perfect , Only thing is they have anounced that it would get marshmellow but havent seen that yet . Big advantage is the almost vanilla android .That makes it for older people eazier to use . It runs smooth and she does days before charging .The only thing i find that its quite heavy .But thats offcourse the battery .For a $89 its worth every penny . My mom is very fond of it .And offcourse the first days when it arrived i tried it out and i must say .Its real value for what it cost . Dont expect a samsung S7 . But it has no bugs runs smooth days with a battery .If they regular give it updates (what i dont exprect) it would be a real bargain .
Until now still not get any news about this rom. LOL
We have to live with stock rom (not bad) for now.
There is a ported CM 12.1 from K6000 made for K4000 on :
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=707999&st=340#entry49948157
