Are you rooted? What are your bootloader details? did something happen to cause your touch going crazy or did it just happen randomly one day?
Did you run the RUU for your carrier? Have you tested to see if the wifi is weak when connected to different wireless networks or just one?

Hmm well, if an RUU did not fix it and you are experiencing this with all networks, I would be inclined to think it's a hardware issue.

Can you give more detail or specifics, and quantify this at all? "Very weak" doesn't really tell us anything.
For example: you can't get WiFi unless you are standing right next to the router, when you could get a signal 50' away before.
For me, this situation seems like someone has used the AT&T RUU for a non AT&T phone.

I thought it might be the case too but he said it was an AT&T phone. Not gonna go all Dr House and search his home for clues

I need help, I'm already desperate...
Got a T-mobile HTC sensation, it was already unlocked for other carriers but no S-off or unlocked bootloader.
I got an S-off, unlocked the bootloader, changed CID, flashed Android Revolution HD 6.7.2, but I have HORRIBLE signal reception. So I found that update file in the header which said "- HTC Sensation 4G (U.S. T-Mobile PG5810000 | T-MOB010) users can flash this for better signal and data speeds!" I installed it... NO IMPROVEMENT, my last hope is flash a different radio. Anybody knows what's the problem and how to fix it?
configs right now
different carrier sim (not t-mobile)
S-off, unlocked loader
HBOOT: 1.27.11111
Radio: Radio_11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
cid changed to 1111111
firmware: 3.33
ROM right now: is the XE version with beats (tried 1.2.2 too, no change)
Kernel: faux
EDIT: just found out that my wifi is not working either, tried the boot.img fix, didn't help. I get Wifi for a brief second and if I managed to connect it will stay for a while, but if I don't no wifi after that.

Have you tried a different kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1269247 (maybe its for AOSP only though)
Sensation Kernel Update (different and more recent than above): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256668
Different (userfriendly) radios? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Remember to make a backup before install.
yes I have tried 2-3 kernels, including Bricked.
and I have changed 7-8 different radios/firmwares
P.S. fixed wifi with WiFix, at least this 2 issues are not connected
Greetings. I'm taking a stab at asking my question here because it seems sort of related.
I'm a T-mobile USA customer with a brand new SIM card in my Sensation 4g that I bought a few months ago.
My bootloader is unlocked, I'm S-off, I've flashed the custom firmware (version: 3.32.401.3) that was recommended for those flashing the Cyanogenmod 9 ROM. I'm currently using the most recent STABLE Cyanogenmod 9 ROM (not 9.1, but the STABLE 9 ROM). I'm using the stock Cyanogenmod 9 kernel (the one that came with the ROM: 3.0.26-g7290c7f). I never bothered to flash a new radio, not sure if that's a mistake or not.
My reception is good but it seems rather obvious that my phone is completely unable to hook up to or unaware of the 4g network. When downloading, the icon in the taskbar always shows either "3g" or "H" and when I check the "Status" in "About Phone" my "Mobile Network Type" is always listed as UMTS:3 or HSDPA:9.
Can anyone make any suggestions for how I might begin the trouble shooting process to remedy this issue. Thank you in advance for any sage like advice you might provide, I'm pretty lost here.

H is good. It means you are on an HSDPA network. That's 4G for the purposes of this conversation (though what really constitutes 4G is a little more involved)
HSDPA:9 might just be the best speeds that are available in your area. For instance 8 is the best I can get at my house. No amount of better phones will fix that. It's just what's available from the tower.

That's helpful thank you. One last question in the interest of clarification. Should I find myself in an HSPA+ reception area, should I expect the information over the reception bars to change from 3g to 4g and would "Mobile Network Type" then reflect HSPA+ as opposed to HSDPA 9?
Just curious so I might know what to look for when crossing into better network areas.
Thanks again for the tip.
The H means 4g technically. You can update your radio and ril very easily. Will find links and edit post

Thanks for the link. I guess what I was wondering is whether or not I actually need to update my radio, I'd feel a lot more confident in my reception if I ever saw HSPA+ listed in my phone's "Mobile Network Type", but I never do. I had previously thought that HSDPA was 3G, but maybe I'm missing something.
Thanks for the link, flashing a new radio is something I had been giving consideration, I'm just wondering how user friendly the process is. Like picking a needle out of a haystack, or is there someway to narrow down what radio/ril combo is best for one's phone/network.
I'll read through the thread for the link you posted and update my progress here later. Thanks for the info.

your data connection will still say 3G, unless you start to use the data then it will automatically switch to 4G/H (saves battery this way)
HTC made a fault with the Sensation with building the antennas into the back case (hand over the back of the phone = small loss of reception)
Theres a program called getRIL in the play store. You can update your radio and ril as long as your root. Which i assume u are. I do it thep old fasion way though.

Hi all,
Last night, thanks to jianC, I was able to put Cyanogenmod 7 on my old HTC Merge. I was thrilled, until I realized I had no "phone" icon on my screen, and no 3g service. WiFi works, as do all the apps I tried. But I can't actually make or receive calls. My phone is a Verizon, and is perm-rooted and s-off. The radio version is 1.06.00.0910. I suspect this is my problem, but haven't been able to find anything on the internet to help me upgrade the radio. I've reverted to 2fast4u's xfusion rom so I can use my phone again, but I'd really like to get cm7 working. Can anyone help?
Here's the rest of my info in case it helps (new to this so most of this means nothing to me.)

hello all,
when i'm on mobile data sometimes currently i found my phone get overheated and then the airplane mode turns on automatically and mobile data says that's turned off because of radio signal, i attached the photo of the problem, and to restore the connection i must turn off the phone for 15 min. or so.
is there any solution for this problem?
Is your phone unlocked and rooted? If so you probably need to try a different radio.

It sounds to me like a radio issue. Have you contacted tech support to see if it's still under warranty?

Unfortunately the HTC agent in Egypt isn't good enough and didn't reply for either of my mails
You can unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery etc and then you can change the radio yourself. It may or may not help the situation though, it's possible you have a hardware fault too.

How i could do that, and how i can know if it's a hardware fault or not?
You'll only know if it's a hardware problem if no radio fixes your problem. Is your phone the at&t model? If it is it'll have the at&t logo at the top of the screen.
You should check your signal strength, go into Settings/About Phone/Network and tell me what it says under signal strength.

Signal strength, -91 dBm 11 asu
Ok well your strength isn't great, that's fairly low. If you really want to you can go to htcdev and unlock your bootloader. We should check your bootloader details first. To get into bootloader turn your phone off, once it's completely off hold the volume down button and then the power button (so you're holding them together), after a few seconds let go of power but keep holding volume down until you reach the white screen with text, this is your bootloader, I only need to see the first four lines.

I have a HTC One S [S4]. No only GSM mode, and the registration on the network is very slow [after boot ~ 10 min.].
I tried go back to stok with RUU,but this not solved my problem. I hope this is a software issue and not hardware
Pls help me,cause I'm going crazy!
Thank you very much!
I've had that on three OneS devices plus on my wife's OneS SE. I believe it's to do with ROM/radio combination and I was never able to fully solve it. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

I tried a RUU [JB], if it's possible that I run ICS ruu? What do you think about it?
If you're S-OFF just try any RUU see if it helps. RUU is still the best way to deal with these odd issues.
It might be a hardware damage too, you know. The OneS had huge issues with the radio/modem part. Many devices were bugged.

Tomorrow I will try change my SIM card, cause now I can't send sms ...I don't understand: 3g connection ok, network signal ok, call quality ok, but the sms not work...Only gsm mode not working too,and the problem when I only gsm mode, I'm unreachable so the radio modul not working.
Relock, S-on, JB ruu,not work. So I will try these thing:
-change SIM
-go back ICS RUU

I have a HTC Sensation 4g that i got and repaired and switched over to it from my inspire 4g. My inspire would hit 3g great where i am and beyond it at times. So i thought the Sensation 4g would be the same but so far all it will do is 2g for some reason. Have checked APN, making sure WCDMA preferred is set and nothing still 2g but can take my sim stick back in the inspire and bam 3g and more....Not really sure what is going on here...Have searched alot but have not found any real answers yet and hoping perhaps somebody here might know something...So far i have learned a great deal about the android system from here and hoping there is something that can be done. Really like the sensation so far except for the fact its only got a 2g connection...Thought it could be the sim card but then it would not work in my inspire then, so that is ruled out....also went as far as trying different roms thinking maybe different firmware maybe, but nope nothing so far at all. It is rooted and S-off if that matters. Currently has 3.32 firmware and unlocked. Currently running Revalation. If anymore information is needed let me know.....

Update to 3.33 universal. You can find that on the first post if the help thread. Point 13 I think.
Otherwise, do an Ruu. I would recommend the above, as at the very least, you get the latest radios.
VERIFY MD5 BEFORE FLASHING. Make sure you have 70% or more battery. A wrong flash of 3.33 will get you a hard brick, but don't worry as long as you take above precautions.
Happy to help.

lift them up gently if it is necessary

No, I dont have another carrier sim card...Have had net10 for several years and not anything different. Can put my sim card though in my inspire and 4g works fine so i am to believe it is not anything to do with the sim card itself. Have also put the same sim card in my ZTE 990 as well and 4g works too. I thought about buying a different plan on a different carrier to get a different sim but that could be in vain....

Unfortunately buying and activating a sim card from another network just to see if it was gonna work was something i did not have money for...I have spoke with HTC and confirmed what i wrote in the other post about this being a T-Mobile phone and specific to certain bands...and unless the network i use has that specific band it will never work for 3g. Unless there is a way to reprogram the radio frequencies it is a limitation all T-mobile sensations have sadly....but I have found another company that runs on the bands this phone needs to run so will be switching to the new company next month.
