System/fonts request - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Hello people,
I've been changing a few things here on my Xperia J and after a few changes, I managed to stay with different fonts, which did not mean to ... I also forgot to make backup. I've done reset the phone but did not work with the folder, so I come to ask someone who has a Xperia J can send me the fonts folder located in system / fonts
Edit-Somone who has the original folder witout changes
Thanks in advance to all,

Suppose if nobody sends you the fonts, you can use your ftf and deodex it and take the fonts out!
This way you will get the official fonts and you won't have any doubts in your head !
If you are unsure what I am talking about, quote me and I will explain further. Search the forum please because many answers are already in it!

find in your general forum : FTF files for your Xperia. Make sure your model number matches the ftf file but region variation wouldnot be a trouble!
CHECK STOCK FTTS and download the FTF depending if you are using ICS or JB

Use the second method, I just remembered that Xperia J was released in 2013. This tool works till 2012 devices! As devices from 2013 uses ext4 rather than old yaffs!
Second method should work!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/general/tut-how-to-extract-ftf-file-to-make-t2060508

1. Open .ftf with WinRAR/any zip archiver.
2. Extract system.sin.
3. Open Flashtool, and go to tools>sin editor. Select your extracted system.sin.
3. Click "dump header"
4. Wait for it to finish, the output is a system.ext4 file.
5. Use a Linux archiver tool(Google, many programmes available), to extract the fonts folder.
6. Make a flashable zip/copy the fonts inside the folder to your phones system>fonts folder. Set the correct permissions!
Done. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask

[TUT] How to extract .ftf file to make custom rom - and few tips [2012 Xperia]

[TUT] How to extract .ftf file to make custom rom - Flashable ZIP [2012 Xperia]
This tutorial is for developers who want to make their own custom rom based on official firmware. OK, let's start.
Explanations:
Inside every flashable zip file there are two folders - system and META-INF:
1) system folder - That is actually your ROM and all it's content (If you ROOT your device you gain access to this folder in your device).
2) META-INF folder - That folder gives instructions to your device (ClockWorkMod) how to flash ROM, sets permissions...
This is method to get Stock/Official system folder that you need to edit to make custom ROM.
You will need to find/make yourself contents of META-INF folder - You may took it from another ROM and (maybe) edit.
NOTE: If you use this method your ROM will work for both Locked/Unlocked bootloaders, and it will require that you have firmware your ROM is based on already installed before flashing.

How to get contents of stock/official system folder - Extract .ftf file:
1. Download .ftf file for your device.
2. Extract .ftf file using 7Zip.
3. You will get system.sin and other files. You only need system.sin file so delete others.
4. Open flashtool and inside flashtool open SIN Editor to dump data from system.sin - you will get an ext4 file.
5. Open ext2Read and extract ext4 file.
6. Done.

How to put CWM into your ROM:
OK, Now you ask - Why do I have to put CWM into ROM? Let's explain:
CWM is custom recovery that you use to flash zip files to your device. There are two types of CWM:
1. For both Locked and Unlocked bootloaders - Recovery is in the system folder of the ROM.
2. Only for Unlocked bootloaders - Recovery is somewhhere else (You don't need that).
Because your ROM is based on official firmware it will be for both Locked/Unlocked bootloaders.
Therefore, you will flash your ROM in CWM for both Locked/Unlocked bootloaders.
And if you flash you will replace system folder of previous ROM. Because CWM was in that folder of previous ROM - You will lose CWM.
That is why you need to put CWM.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Find CWM for both bootloaders for your device.
1. Copy sh file inside files folder to system/xbin.
2. Copy other files inside files folder to system/bin.
3. Go to META-INF/com/google/android/ and you will find updater-script.
4. Add the following lines to it
Code:
set_perm(0, 0, 0755, "/system/bin/recovery.tar");
set_perm(0, 0, 0755, "/system/bin/battery_charging");
set_perm(0, 0, 0755, "/system/bin/battery_charging_help");
set_perm(0, 0, 0755, "/system/xbin/sh");

How to add ROOT into your ROM:
Want your custom rom to be rooted? Here is how:
1. First you need to choose from two great root management apps: Superuser (choose ARM one) and SuperSU(I prefer SuperSU).
2. Download zip file.
3. Go to "system" folder in downloaded zip and copy files within their folders to its place in your rom (same directory - if was "app" then copy in "app".
4. Edit updater-script to set correct permissions - Find that on someone elses rom, it should look just like for CWM, but for those files.
5. Done.

Click to collapse
Useful notes:
1. Don't edit any file in zip with Windows Notepad or else you will get an error in CWM - you need Notepad++.
2. When you put system and META-INF folders into zip set compression to - Store.

This tutorial is for developers who want to make their own custom rom based on official firmware. Note that as of 2012 our Xperias use ext4 file system so other tutorials won't work.
Inside every flashable zip file there are two folders - system and META-INF...System folder is ROM content...and META-INF gives instructions to CWM how to flash ROM Content....This is method to get contents of SYSTEM folder, you must find META-INF yourself....
1. Download .ftf file for your device.

4. Open flashtool and inside flashtool open SIN Editor to dump data from system.sin - you will get an ext4 file.
5. Open ext2Read and extract ext4 file...
6. Done...you will get contents of system folder that you need to modify...
7. IMPORTANT - When you later make zip choose compression - Store
PS: Don't edit files with Windows Notepad or else you will get an error in CWM - you need Notepad++...

you can pack and repack boot img with Android kitchen i think

I already knew this method. However I congratulate you for your initiative. :highfive:
Well I learned something else. Before it only used to extract some files. I did not know we could do this way the custom roms.
I'll try to make a custom rom.
However verified that the file size of system.ext4 is 665,654 KB. Once extracted using ext2read, is only 467 MB.
It is normal for this situation? Instead of decreasing, should not increase after extracted?
Kind regards,
Jorge Moreira

That was my problem too I ended up with an ext2read error and less size
But ext4 is Linux system partition and not zip file. Maybe flashtool made partition that big so every file could go there easily and it couldn't set exact size.

I understand now.
First that zip should only make use to you to learn a little bit more about development. To install that you need already to be rooted with CWM installed.
Second it doesn't install because our devices use a little bit different things. Edit and change every MTD to EMMC and every yaffs (or similar) to ext4. (Notepad ++)

[THEMING -Basic] - Easy Way to EDIT SystemUI.apk/Apps Background

Hi there! Just wanna share..
Just a basic background on how to theme your ROMS. - ofcourse, give thanks to the developer of your ROMs! .
I made this thread for those users who have personal wishes for their Phones. Ofcourse, ROM developers cannot please all of its users. so just make your own and be happy!.
I just made it easy for easy understanding and for the newbies.
Tried so many times and tested
I've already tried editing the systemUI.apk of different ROMs.
Here's what I did :
FIRST : Download 7zip to open the archived apk. - that's free.
Extracting first the Zip File..
(make sure you copy the original before extracting it for back up)
1. Download the ROM.zip and extract it to your PC.
2. Go to \system\app\SystemUI.apk\res\drawable-ldpi/Mdpi/hdpi
3. View the PNG files you wanted to change and make sure to remember its' file name.
4. After editing/changing the file/image you wanted, you can save it anywhere from your PC, let's say on your Desktop.
- Make sure that the file name still remains as is..
*After you're done editing, updating the PNG files you wish to change, follow this steps to update the zip file :
NOTE : You can apply transparency by editing the PNG file to photoshop by reducing the opacity of the image
1. Go to the original ZIP file of ROM.Zip from your PC
2. Right Click the folder and select 7 ZIP -->> open archive
3. Close all of windows/Browers (or minimize)
4. Go to \system\app\SystemUI.apk\res\drawable-ldpi/mdpi/hdpi and it will open a new window of 7zip showing the files inside the zip.
5. Now, given your edited PNG files or downloaded png files (assuming that files are located in your desktop). - Click and simply DRAG the file(s) from your desktop to \system\app\SystemUI.apk\res\drawable-ldpi\ mdpi/hdpi
6. It will ask you to confirm the action for it will replace the existing PNG file that you're trying to change.
7. Make sure that the file name of the one you edited/downloaded are THE SAME. -
8. After dragging and replacing the files you wanted, then you're good to go!
9. Close the 7zip window and that's it!.
You can now install the .zip by copying the UPDATED zip file to your SD Card.
(Note: Make sure to copy the updated one, not the backed up one)
Install the zip file from the original thread's instructions and reboot twice.
After that, you have now a customized systemUI.apk.
For those who do not want to reinstall the whole package.. follow these steps:
1. I assumed that you have the zip file of your ROM.
2. Extract it and go to \system\app\
3. Separate the SystemUi.apk - put it on your desktop. create a back up,
Right Click SystemUi.apk and select 7 ZIP -->> extract here - just to view the files you wanted to change.
Just go the folder and search for the PNG files.
4. Right Click SystemUi.apk and select 7 ZIP -->> open archive.
5. Go to \res\drawable-ldpi/mdpi/hdpi
6. Click and simply DRAG the PNG file(s) from your desktop to \res\drawable-ldpi/mdpi/hdpi
7. It will ask you to confirm the action for it will replace the existing PNG file that you're trying to change.
8. Make sure that the file name of the one you edited/downloaded are THE SAME. -
9. After dragging and replacing the files you wanted, then you're good to go!
APPLYING :
1. Download and install rootexplorer.apk
2. Download the png files you wanted to update.
3. Copy and paste the NEW SystemUi.apk that you have updated/Edited to your SD card.
4. Open root explorer in your galaxy y then go and tap MOUNT R/W.
5. Go to \SDCard and go to new SystemUI.apk that you have updated.
6. Long press the file and select copy
7. Press back and go to \system\app - tap MOUNT R/W at the top.
8. Paste the new SystemUI.apk from there.
(Note : You will encounter a lot of force closes for the exixsting systemui is currently being used by your phone. - just ignore it a lot and scroll down to look for the new SystemUI.apk.
9. Once you get there, long press on it and select permissions:
from the pop up, make the checked one like this :
•___•____ •
•___ .____.
•___ .____.
where Dots are the checked one - Bigger dots
After encountering a lot of force closes, then reboot the phone and that's it!
(Force Closes are normal, DON't PANIC - logically, you are currently using your systemUI.apk so just ignore it)
NOTE : You can also apply the same steps in editing system files apps, just edit the .png files and locate it using 7zip(when you already opened it). Have a little LOGIC on how to edit system app background - same process. just different apk files and directory .

Part 1 (Downloading and extracting firmware from system.img)
1) Download firmware from www.sammobile.com or www.samsung-updates.com
2) Open the zip file with 7zip and double click on the md5 file it should open with 7zip
3) now extract the system.img and boot.img to your desktop
4) open up sgs2ext4.jar and place the system.img in there it should load up some things and after some time you will get system.ext4 or something like that
5) now open up linux reader and hit the drives button click on mount image and hit next (always choose for RAW image!!!) now choose the ext4 file and after some time the drive will appear in the Hard Disk Drives screen.
6) now open the drive and select all and choose on the top under commands save now make a folder on your desktop and save all those folders there.
7) when linux reader is done with pasting those files in the system folder close linux reader.
8) now make a .zip file on your desktop for example i choose: test.zip and copy the whole system folder in the zip file also put the boot.img in the zip file.
9) the next thing you need to do is having a META-INF folder here is a folder i made for you with updater-script and update-binary (META-INF folder is in the attachments)

[Q] Need stock Settings.apk

I have accidentally overwritten the Settings.apk with a modified version which is not compatible with my ROM, so every time I want to go into the settings the SystemUI crashes.
I don't want to flash a new FTF just because of this if it's not neccesary, but I couldn't find a Settings.apk, can someone provide me a copy of the stock one?

Extract it from an FTF
1. Use 7-zip (or similar) to unpack the FTF file
2. Follow this guide
3. Grab the settings.apk from the unpacked system.sin
Thanks, but unfortunatelly I ran into some problems.
I'm following the guide that you linked, I've already extracted the system.sin, but there's no "dump data" in flashtool, only dump header, dump raw and extract data, I tried all of them and they don't work with Yaffey.

Use this after you 'extract data' in Flashtool under 'sin editor'
Forget about Yaffey
