[Q] How could Samsung miss this - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought this for mostly home use because of the large display for movies and Web browsing, and come to find out that the Samsung hub is not compatible with this device. So now all of the media I have accumulated through my note 10.1 2014 and my note 3 are not accessible on this device. Not sure if the hub will be compatible, any other way of getting to them?
Thanks.

HAve you tried to use the Wi-Fi Direct or the Screen Mirroring to send show the content from one of your other devices to your Note 12.2?

Anything off hub ia heavily drm protected. Transfering it to another device would render it unusable. Heck even rooting your device makes it unusable

No, the media contents are DRM locked to Media Hub account and not device. So you can log in same Media Hub account account from another device and dl all media again to the new device. Might work if transfer to another device too, but since I never bought anything from the hub and cant say if it works too.
Scroll down to:
Q: Can I access the program via multiple devices? A: Yes, you can access your downloaded content on up to five devices. Q: How do I access the program via multiple devices? You can do this so long as the content has not expired. Q: What happens if I need to replace my device? This states you can redownload the content to multiple devices. Not that you can use wifi direct to beam It to another device and then view it. I and several other people have tried transfering the files themselves to no avail. Thus I am right because you apparently misunderstood my post. When you download any movie from the hub it is locked to ONLY function on the device downloaded to. You can however download it FROM THE HUB to multiple devices as described in your post. His issue is that he doesn't have the hub at all and thus no way to transfer his movies without tripping the drm. Trust me IV tried. ALOT Also if you had any movies already on your note 2014 and rooted it removed the ability to play them or even sign into the video store. Despite being signed into the right samsung account.

I have been able to copy the content of the Samsung hub folder from my note 3 to my note 10.1 and put them in the same folder and was able to play them. I also have the all cast hub from Samsung and can send them to my dumb TV from both devices. According to Samsung there is a compatibility issue with the s/h on the note pro that she thinks they are working but wasn't sure. So for now I just have to use the other devices.
Thanks

DLNA in Samsung Captivate

Hi
I have read the letters DLNA in every review of Samsung Captivate. Does anybody know what it is? And or how it works. Any kind of information is helpful.

basically you can share stuff over a network or wifi to yer mobile device...that is what AllShare is for.
For example... I can stream (via WiFi) videos from my Windows 7 computer to my Captivate. I can also do the reverse and stream videos from my Captivate to my computer's Windows Media Player or my hacked WDTV media player.

I don't have a PS3, but if you have and want to try it over Windows 7:
For Windows 7->Captivate, you'll need to go to "Network and Sharing Center" and turn on "media streaming" somewhere in there. The files must be added in Windows Media Player's library. In the Captivate, select play from a server.
For Captivate->Windows 7, the Captivate's name shows up in Windows Media Player's left side. Click it and it shows the list of what's on the phone. In Captivate, just start All Share (nothing else).
anyone know how to have All Share NOT stretch the resolution of the incoming video and keep the aspect ratio of the file?

Annoying, isn't it?
In the actual "Video Player" app you can control how the video gets stretched - but not in the AllShare player. Why Samsung would choose to torture us like this is beyond me, but it makes me hate them so very much.
I will pay anyone who can figure out how to hack that size/aspect button from the video player to the allshare player.
Interesting....

I'm installing it just by clicking it in on the phone (not using adb) and it just says not installed. Any idea why? I will try twonky though, thanks guys.
EDIT: adb gives me "Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]" when i do this. My phone is rooted. Hmph.
EDIT2: I just tried twonky server. It works perfectly, i think its better than the samsung app, so i'll just be using that. Plus it look cool

If your Ps3 and phone are connected on the same network then they should "see" each other fine. If you scroll down on your Movies category on the Ps3 you will see your phone listed there.
Well, I can see my phone in Movies, Music and Photos on PS3. I can even see the songs and the photos I have on my phone. However, when I try to play a track I get DLNA 2104 error. I can see the thumbnails of the photos but when I try to view it I get a "network error". Is it possbile that this happens because my Netgear router is not configured as an Access Point?

Oh ok. I got that same error as well. Basically you want to make sure that:
A) Your Firewall (whether its 3rd party or just windows xp/ vista/ etc) is set to allow your device (ps3/ phone) to stream and share files.
B) Allow "network and sharing" center's Discovery mode and "file sharing" within Windows (or whatever OS you are running).
c) Also tell your net-gear that your Ps3 and phone are allowed to share files as well. I'm not quite sure how Netgear has their firewall setup. You may have to open DMZ (wouldnt recommend it tho).
I think theres more....ill have to post back when i remember all my steps...lol
a) What the Firewall on my computer has to do with the connection between the phone and PS3?
b) Similar to a). It's about the phone and the PS3 not the computer, right?
c) I'm not sure how do I do that.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 plus Wireless Solutions?!

Okay so my main reasoning to purchasing this tablet was primarily based on the fact you can view pdf's for school like books and such...
Which brings me to the question of?...
Wireless Flash Drive?
Now i want to be able to wireless sync the tablet as a flash drive and transfer files for school instead of carrying around a flash drive is this possible by any means??... (Needs to be MAC compatible or no to little software towards the computer because i do not have Administrator Access on the computer side..)
Wireless streaming Solutions?
okay so i figured out a way to browse the files on my computer using my tablet using an application called File Manager but how do i stream video and music from my tablet the opposite way? (use my computers monitor and speakers wirelessly from the tablet?)
this might be what you are searching... make use of allshare...

Use "VLC Direct" you can stream music and video both ways... tablet to computer, or computer to tablet. Its not on the market right now, it got kicked off when google messed up there market and everyone accounts. go to vlcdirect.com, you should be able to download it from there and read about how to use it. Its a great app I use it daily

I couldn't get bubble upnp or skifta to work properly remotely. Try subsonic, it is java based and set up through a browser, so I think it should be Mac compatible. Works great to stream music and video to Android devices over 3g. As far as the files, maybe look into setting up a ftp server or just use dropbox

[Q] Streaming content from PC to tab

Hello Chums,
Did a quick search here and everywhere else for that matter and couldn't find anything of help.
Basically we've purchased a trio of pads, I was testing one of them several days ago to see if it could get media from my HTPC, it could get music, pictures and videos. It was a fairly painless process, I already have home sharing on and allow devices connected to the network access to my media.
I tested in the default picture app, music app and video app > Nearby Devices > HTPC (everything showed up)
Today all the devices can see the music and pictures but none can see the videos. My videos are fully shared on the network, the homegroup is set up correctly, I've tried restarting all devices including the HTPC, I've reset the homegroup and permissions.
Feel like I'm banging my head on a brick wall, any idea what could be causing the videos not to show?
Thanks in advance.

Hey trem,
Thanks for the alternative but these tabs are for my 3 daughters aged 4,5 & 6. I don't want them to have access to the file system so I'd prefer to troubleshoot using the default video app as it means they can't get access to anything other than my default media libraries. Do you think you could help?

No 3rd party software, W8 with homegroup configured and sharing to devices enabled. Music, pictures and video libraries fully shared to network and the tab default picture and music apps pic up the share but the video app doesn't.
When I open the video app I can see the HTPC but it displays "no videos".
Ok round 2
The hard way
1st register to Samsung Apps on all the tablets
2nd You need to install on your PC Allshare Notification from samsung
3rd Update on the 3 tablets Allshare Play
www.allshareplay.com
Then you sign in to that web page (from your PC)
Whats going to be shared is on settings :
Registered devices
Setup the folder to share with registered devices
You must have your PC and the 3 tablets shown on Registered devices
If you still cant connect from the tablets , right click on the icon of allshare on your PC (next to the time bottom right corner)
Ckick nearby device connection settings and put on all the tablets allow.
You must use allshared to browse.
Good luck

There is a difference between network share and DLNA or UPNP shared. Folder shared on the "network" may not show up in DLNA devices which is what Samsung Allshare expects.
Check this article for tutorial on setting up DLNA in Windows . applies to windows 7 and 8. I use this and my video work great on the Sam Tab

[Q] Missing DLNA apps

Hi- I don't seem to have the two apps that Motorola lists on their support site that can be used to stream via DLNA, Media Share and the DLNA app itself. I recently successfully rooted the phone so I could remove some of the factory bloat, but I know I did not remove either of those apps. Any idea what gives? I am running 4.0.4; was on with Moto tech support and he suggested wiping the partition (factory reset?), but I am leery of doing this while rooted. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. TIA!

OK, when I open My Music, I can scan for DLNA servers (which my phone finds-my PC running Plex, and my wife's laptop), but not my Pioneer receiver, which is DLNA compliant. I assume this because it is a client device. So, how can I stream from my phone to my receiver? Are there apps that can do this directly, or do they all have to go through a server? I have several music players {Poweramp, Winamp, JetAudio), but none of them offer the ability to stream to a DLNA device. Many thanks.
BubbleUPnP does what you are looking for. It can read files from any server (including local files), and play on any compliant renderer (works with my Smart TV). Also, I found the app Twonky to be pretty neat - you can play videos from video sites (e.g., YouTube and Vimeo) on compliant receivers.

Thanks. I'll give both a try. Thinking about it, I really can't see a scenario where I'd want to play from my phone to my receiver if I wasn't at home, so I guess it doesn't matter if my PC gets involved as the server. I just wanted to see if I could work it just between my phone and receiver.

[Q] Way to stream desktop iTunes on Nexus 5?

I want to be able to listen to my entire itunes through streaming onto my Nexus 5 and I know there's apps which do this like Doubletwist. But the problem is my desktop does not run through wifi, its a wired connection. So I was wondering if theres an app which doesn't need the same wifi on your Android device as your desktop.
Thanks
Have you tried the apps? Usually if the computer is connected to the same network by Ethernet it'll work for apps that use it, I know things like WiFi mouse etc do. Or ditch iTunes and upload your music to Google play, it'll take a while but you'll save hours by not having to use the worst piece of software in existence.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
If your N5 and desktop are on the same subnet, you can control and listen to iTunes, even though the desktop is not on the wireless. My home system is like that (the primary desktop mac is a wired ethernet into my LAN and has its wifi card turned off).
In order for your N5 (any wifi client) to work this way requires your wireless (wifi) router to be in access point mode (which is NOT the default), not in normal router mode. How easy this is to do depends entirely on your particular wifi router, and your skill at configuring it.
(When your N5 and desktop are on the same subnet, you can use AirBubble on your N5 to receive the audio from iTunes on your desktop machine, and you can use Remote for iTunes to control the running iTunes on your desktop. Works very well).

You could try subsonic. it wont interfere with itunes ( ugh ) and it will convert your flac and ogg and movie files on the fly too. Then get dSub for your android and you will never use itunes again. Subsonic is a free open source media server you install on your pc that streams to your phone or any device, no clunky uploading to the cloud. Dsub is a pay for app but I have paid for it twice its that good and dev works hard on it, constantly updating it.

Go into your router settings > Go to port forwarding > Give it a name Music Streaming > Enter the port and forward it to the internal IP.

Scratch what I wrote. I didn't see you were on a university network. Not sure you're going to have much luck with port forwarding.

How about just downloading the Google Music Manager, uploading your library to Google Play Music and stream it anywhere on any network...

Why , Dear deity, would you take the huge time/BW to upload what you already have digitally and could serve up to yourself at a cost of no time at all?? And still stream it anywhere on the net and keep control of it yourself ?
I hate being evangelistic but this is really a no brainer once you understand how Subsonic works
