Since rom Kitkat has a lot of errors that I went back to JB. However, the camera is supposedly better in the new rom. My question: Is it possible to move the camera application from KK to JB?

The errors only seem to happen when you do not do a full wipe of the phone before migrating. xzx0O0s thread is the one I followed and it all went smoothly. Testimony from other successful users listed there as well. KK is much better all round. So don't give up, make it work.
To answer your question, no, the system files are completely different.

Nice forum you got here, i was a passive user since about a year and now i'm going to be active:
I have a iconia A700 and i'm thinking about flashing it with cm10.1. I found some tutorials and it seems to be not too hard to perform.
But before i do it, i have some questions:
1) What backup tool do you suggest? I want to keep all my files, programs and progam settings!
2) Is CM10.1 running smooth and good / better than the stock rom?
3) Someone tested the tapped out simpsons game on cm10.1 on the a700? It does not work with stock rom (maybe because of the resolution). Is there any chance to change the resolution with cm10.1 or maybe the game works fine without any change of settings?
I believe it's taking too much time to wait for an official 4.2 release and i don't like all these Acer Apps. So can you recommend flashing with cynagonmod?
1. Titanium backup. Though you need root, it's the best back-up tool you can get.
2. From my experience, I'd say yes. Though pawitp (the person who made CM possible) says the following:

Performance may be worse than stock due to the additional navigation bar introduced in 4.2.

3. I didn't try it. I think there is a way to change the resolution, though when you've installed the CM ROM, you should try to run it first. I thought I read about changing the resolution somewhere in the CM forum, but I'm not sure how to do it.
Yeah, Acer said it's going to be there, but it's releasing somewhere in the summer.
I can certainly recommend CM. I had to get used to the new navigation buttons place, but you'll get used to it too, I'm sure.
I really like the OTA feature in it. You can get updates right on your tablet without having to reflash or stuff. I'm not sure if it'll install future Android version updates, but I think it's possible (like Android 4.2.1).
Hi, I have a TF700 and it was working perfectly out the box, i recently updated to JB 4.2.1 (Build number : 10.6.1.14.10) and I have been experiencing issues such as major delay, lagging, freezing, even after a cold boot. I have attempted factory reset. I have considered downgrading but I have also been looking at Custom ROMs, I would rather not use these Customs ROMs as I am still under warentee. But I will if need be. Could anyone point me in the right direction as to making JB more responsive? If not, what would be a good Custom ROM?
Thanks in advance
Are you saying even after a factory reset and without installing any apps, Android is freezing and lagging on you?
On stock you could:
Factory reset and manually re-flash the firmware (but you basically did that already)
Disable any bloatware yo are not using
Try the app Greenify to stop unwanted services and apps from running
For a custom rom my vote goes for CROMi-X 5.2.4. Totally stable and because it is based on Asus' own firmware everything works as intended. Look for the thread in Development

Yes, originally I did, but I downloaded the .zip firmware and manually installed as well. Nothing has helped

Thank you very much! Yes, android was laggy after a fresh install! I will try the Greenify app, if that doesnt work, the custom firmware looks like my only choice. Thanks
I had some trouble rooting after I first did a 4.4.2 OTA. So I downgraded to 4.3 and got root and installed TWRP without any trouble.
So from a 4.3 firmware I went to Cyanogenmod (Android 4.4.2). Is that ok ? Or do I need to upgrade radio, boot or other parts that dont come with a custom rom? In other words: is a (rooted) 4.4.2 firmware a precondition for installing alternative 4.4.2 roms?
Well, everything might not work perfectly as many things (though little) changed from 4.3 to 4.4. Yup, most of those things (radio, etc) change, flashing a cm11 rom wont change those and cm will most likely need them. Better to upgrade to 4.4. Also, does ART (new kitkat runtime) need anything new from kernel or anything? I don't see anyone who seems to have tried this and might mostly not work.
Also, What root trouble did you have? Easier to solve that issue than deal with any new issues that might arise from this.

Thanks. I will look into that. The kernel is included in a ROM though wright? So that wont be an issue I guess... But just to be save I'll flash 4.4.2 firmware and start from there. My problem was I actually got root, but flashed custom roms always got stuck in the boot animation. The thread on that is here.
hi guys.
so there is something that is driving me crazy here.
i own a XT 925 and the update for KK 4.4.2 has already came for my device. but unfortunately when i updated, i got the popping noise issue and i really didnt like it, so i went back to JB 4.1.2
but the problem is: I WANT A KK ROM!
so i'm flashing a lot of KK roms and there is always one problem: the CAMERA.
all cameras that came in the kk roms i'm flashing arent good. i mean, bad quality, it doesnt focus properly.
but the stock jb camera is perfect.
so i have already tried a lot of things, download stock camera apks, change in system/app, try to install it like any apk but i just can't, the phone won't do it. it just says "app not installed" and that's it.
so i would like to ask you guys what can i do about this...
1) is there a way to fix this "app not installed" issue? i need to change the Camera to a good one which can focus properly so i can take good pics (i've already tried moto x camera apk, but again, it's just not as good as stock 4.1.2 was...stock jb camera focus a lot better)
2) if i upgrade my phone to official KK, and flash a custom rom which is KKBL, will i be able to install a stock camera APK on that custom rom?
i just dont know what to do anymore...i don't want to stay on JB, i want KK. but i also want good Camera
please someone save me from this !!
thanks
Hi all,
Been a spectator on this forum for a while now, so thought its about time I said thanks, and asked a question of my own (even if it is a relatively simple one)
Firstly thanks to everyone involved in the below thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672/page80
The process really made a difference for me after I unlocked my bootloader and rooted... just have a look at the before and after pics attached (both taken in low light without flash).
I'm now on stock Lollipop .690 ftf with androplus adv LP kernel (as the thread above suggests), so my question is: now that I have my DRM function restored (at least the camera low-light functionality), can I flash a custom Lollipop ROM (CM12, validus or BlissPop for example), without losing this functionality? If so, would it be as simple as flashing through recovery or would there be further steps involved?
Thanks!
Afaik drm restore only works with stock Kernel or stock based Kernels
The functions you want to restore with the method of the mentioned thread are only available on Sony's firmware. CM12 doesn't utilize those functions so there's no way to restore them.
