[Q] Remove on screen buttons - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I remember that there was a way to remove on screen buttons but don't remember how. Anyone know how since we now have s-off. I purchased an app a while back that allowed you to set swipe gestures as anything you want. So I set home, back, menu, recents, and google now as 2-3 finger swipes which is better than having on screen buttons.
edit- I removed it. Only issue is icons get pushed higher on homescreen only and can't move them lower.

No app just edit build.prop and add to the end qemu.hw.mainkeys=1. Then reboot.

GMD auto hide soft keys works also.

Another way to "Knock Off"

Hey guys. I wanted to share this. I use Nova launcher so I don't have the ability to Knock Off from my home screen. I have been trying to use the knock off on the status bar and it's just never right. I always ended up clicking and opening settings, or it just didn't work. When your phone is laying on its back with the rear buttons we have sometimes you may want to turn it off without using the hardware buttons.
Enter Power Toggles by painless death. Play Store Link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
I have disabled the quick settings with Xposed and use power toggles instead. It's great for adding a screen lock to the status bar and also torch. I just wanted to share that set up. Screen lock works EVERY time.

If you're using nova wouldn't it be easier to install a screen off app and set double tap gesture to that app, that's what I do and it works perfectly.

Well, I already use Power Toggles. I hate the stock Quick Settings. I tried that idea but then Nova Launcher just opens another app and I still have to click something in that app. So, having a quick setting in Power Toggles is easier for me.

Set gesture, shortcut, activities, find screen off activity. It works just like stock.
Try gravity box xposed module....it has an option for screen off by double tapping the status bar

Just like James as stated. I use Nova Launcher Prime and didn't want to lose the Knock On/Off feature.
So I installed Screen Off And Lock:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
Under Gestures, assign the Double Tap to this Application. You can still hide the App within the App Drawer so no one would be the wiser.
you can also set a long press action to a nav-bar icon to lock screen with G2 exposed. thats what i use rather than knockoff.
Using this one with Nova Prime gesture. I see absolutely no need to have an app bigger than 50KB for such a simple task and this one is like 20KB and does the job perfectly. Keep it tiny and simple is my moto

Kudos to you, works perfectly and no additional battery drain
I second the "Screen Off and Lock" app from the Play Store. Assign that to the Double Tap gesture in Nova Prime. Boom. Just like stock. Quick and painless. I hide the App from the Drawer and forget all about it.
This allows you to double tap anywhere in the launcher or Status Bar to turn off the screen. Best way to do it.

I would think it would work with any launcher that supports gestures. You just set the gesture to trigger knock off.

Alright.Unfortunately i think GNow Launcher doesn't support gestures
Yea it will work with any launcher that supports double tap. I've always used Nova Prime so it was a no brainer. I used to use Double Tap for the app drawer and delete the drawer icon from the dock. I like screen off better though.

(Q) Anyone that uses Nova Launcher

Does Knock still work with nova? The reason why I'm asking is with my girlfriend lg which is stock the knock work to turn the screen on and when at the main stock launcher screen will turn it off. I'm on Nova and knock works when turning the screen on but to turn it off it wont work i have to use the back button or enable a hold button.
I have kind of found a work though with this problem I'm having. So what i did is in Nova settings when to the Gestures and Buttons option and selected double tap. From there go to the shortcuts tab and selected the greenify option "Hibernate + Lock" and this works like a charm.
I am using nova launcher. and I am doing the same thing I go into settings buttons and gestures and then I select double tap and use secure settings plugin to lock the screen, it's just as smooth and quick as using the stock launcher.

I've noticed that the knock off feature (by double-tapping any empty space on your homescreens) is only a LG launcher feature only. I'd recommend doing what others are doing. You can still turn off the screen by double-tapping the status bar which is what I personally do!
I use Nova but you guys need to install a app called screen off and lock in the play store. Then go to Nova settings, gusters and set Double tap to that app hide it also cheers.
You don't need an app for this. Should just be able to double tap in the status bar. You can tap anywhere to wake the phone. I'm not using Nova any longer but it worked. I'm using Next Launcher.

You need Nova Prime for the knock on/off feature.
I hate to disagree but if you double tap on the task bar (which is very easy) it works just fine. Prime or the free version. I just put it on the phone to test it and it works just like before.

No biggie. I love my Next Launcher but if I couldn't knock it off I dunno if I'd still use it. First day I just happened to try it and YES!

Turn off multiwindow and improve recent performance?

Is there any way to turn off multiwindow, as it is set to longpress recents and creates a delay when trying to go to recents because of it.
To turn off multiwindow you mist add the toggle. You will need an sqlit editor and just like adding MobileData add MultiWindow

You sure? I could imagine that if a double tap was required then there might be a delay while the phone waits to see if the user wants to tap again, but for a long press vs short press? Surely when the user taps the recents button there's no need for the phone to delay further?

Pull down the notification bar from anywhere. Possible?

I'm really tired of swiping down from the top edge of my huge phone every time I have to check notifications.
Is there a way (most probably via an app) to swipe down from anywhere on the screen (in my case near the bottom- where my hands and fingers rest by default, Google) to pull down the notification pane?
TIA

That's exactly what I do. You can assign all sorts of gestures, in fact. I swipe up, it goes to Settings, 2 fingers down to go to apps, etc. Nova Prime is awesome.

Questions with Pie gesture navbar with no hints

So when you slide right on home line with hints showing, it let's you slide through your recent apps.
How do you do this when you hide the lines aka hints?
Anybody have a clue? I've been trying to Google this and cannot! Find it. All I find is how the dot is gone and blah blah blah.... I want to hide the clues cuz these lines are annoying and I love gesture navigation! Now that I'm used to it... but I cannot swipe the home button to panel through recent apps if I hide them..
:crying:

Weird, mine works fine without hints, I can swipe at the bottom left or right on task manager. Btw I'm on stock official pie update
mine works without hints too. same way as it would if you had hints.

You just swipe up left "button" and you go to recent apps. Only there you can swipe left/right thorough recent apps
I have had issues with getting this to work too. I am using the Bixby button - short press for back and long press for recent apps. Also double tap for flashlight. Good option since it doesn't seem to work without the lines on the bottom of the screen.
It sounds like it might only be not working for some phones. I have a Snapdragon S8+ on Verizon. The screen gestures do not work for me.

But with the hints showing you can swipe right on home line and it brings up a quick recent. Which is unavailable if you hide gesture hints
I posted just above saying that the gestures were not working for my phone a month ago. Well they started working. I can't tell you why. Verizon S8+. My phone isn't rooted. Need to fix my info.
