:laugh: ---- Introduction ---
Hi,
I am a fun of big screens and i think our Core has a big screen.
I also dont like 4 icons on one row... So lets begin :fingers-crossed:.
---- Mod Preview ----
(Images here click button)

Launcher > Drawer
Launcher > Widget
Calculator > Normal
---- What is density? ----
Pixel density is how many pixels our screen have per inch. (Wikipedia)
Density's default value on Core is 240. We will change 240 to 200 (more pixels per inch, so smaller UI).
---- Mod for which device/version? ----
This mod was tested on a Galaxy Core:
Model number: GT-I8260
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: I8260XXAMJ2
Build number: JZO54K.I8260XXAML3
(So ... on a stock rom)
(I have no idea if this work for GT-I8262 but i can cleary say that PhoneCall app have some hidden UI on GT-I8260)
Now its the time to say that u can't possible brick your phone with such mod... so gesh what... you are responsible for what ever you do to your phone not Me, not Jack Sparrow and hell not Spider-Man.
---- Preparation ----
To do this mod we need a Rooted phone. If you dont have your phone rooted, go download it from here (its an app) run it and select a root method (2nd worked for me), this will root your phone.
Now its time for backups just in case we missclick or we try to do the mod on an other device/version.
So the first thing we need is an explorer with access on the filesystem of the phone (I used Root Explorer, do your magic and download it).
Open Root Explorer (or any other explorer with root access you want) go to "/system/" and backup (copy) on your sdcard the "build.prop" file ("/system/build.prop"). This is not mandatory but just in case.
Now go in "app" folder ("/system/app/") and backup (copy) on your sdcard the files "AccuweatherWidget.apk", "SamsungCamera.apk", "SecCalculator.apk", "SecLauncher2.apk". (You can skip this if you dont want the apps mods to fit the new density, or only back up "SecLauncher2.apk" if you just want a launcher fix.)
You better make a folder in your sdcard and put them all together in there.
---- Mod Time ----
Density Change:
With your Root Explorer (or any other explorer with root access you want) go to "/system/" and open "build.prop" on an text editor, now edit density from 240 to 200. (To edit the "build.prop" file you will have to "Mount R/W" this folder, Root Explorer will ask you to do it as soon as you click to edit the file) (Here a nice guide about changing build.prop)
Code:
debug.composition.8x25.type=dyn
dalvik.vm.heapsize=24m
persist.gralloc.cp.level3=1
[B][U]ro.sf.lcd_density=240[/U][/B] <----- We need to edit this line (line 62)
# System property ril adb log on
So it will look like this after edit
Code:
debug.composition.8x25.type=dyn
dalvik.vm.heapsize=24m
persist.gralloc.cp.level3=1
[B][U]ro.sf.lcd_density=200[/U][/B] <----- We changed 240 to 200
# System property ril adb log on
Now density is changed and it will be applied on our next reboot. You may not reboot now, but this is not mandatory.
:cyclops: Launcher Mod/Fix for 200 density:
With 200 density default launcher looks bad... So we need to add a one column and 2 rows. Will be gooood .
So we download the modified "SecLauncher2.apk" from the end of this post and put it on your phone's sdcard, dont rename the file (watch out not to replace your backup apk if you haven't moved it in a folder).
We now need to replace the "/system/app/SecLauncher2.apk" with the one you just put in your sdcard.
(I suggest you first to download a second launcher in case if something go wrong, you can still open Root Explorer and fix it. Nova launcher is free on GooglePlay, just download it before you proceed.)
So open Root Explorer and go to your sdcard ("/storage/extSdCard/" or "/storage/sdcard0/" depending on which you put it). Find "SecLauncher2.apk" and copy it (hold down and chose copy on the menu). Now go to "/system/app/", "Mount R/W" this folder and paste the file (click "Copy Here", its down left).
Now for the moment your Stock Launcher should not work untill the next reboot. You can ether reboot or continue with the rest moded apk provided in this mod/guide.
:silly: Rest Apps Mod/Fix for 200 density:
(Camera, Calculator, Weather Widget, PhoneCall, Email)
You will have to do the same thing for the other app provided in this mod/guide.
I am not going to rewrite the process as i have fully completed only the Launcher's mod.
The other apps are all usable but need style fixes so i need to work on them.
:highfive: App mod info / stage:
[Download][OK] Launcher : Modded, based on my needs
[Download][SEMI-OK] Camera : Cant find how to move icons in better positions.
[Download][SEMI-OK] Calculator : Scientific mode not converted-modded.
[Download][SEMI-OK] Weather Widget : Need to fix Height/Width ratio.
[Download][NO] PhoneCall : Not yet started modding, only number pad need fix.
[Download][NO] Email : Not yet started, mail view width need to grow.
(Sorry for the noob friendly info)
:good: SeeYa! :victory:
Need to be fixed :
PhoneCall.app
Email.app

After changing the density and replacing the laucher apk with the new one, the phone failed to boot. Tried cleaning cache, dalvik cache, but when booting, it shows "Finishing BOOT".

Which phone you have and which firmware version?
Changing the launcher apk cant mesh up your boot, worst case the launcher crash afther load.
If the phone diplay anything about update and finishing updating its ok, u just wait.
Try load from recovery and restore your build.prop and launcher's apk with adb.
I already reinstalled stock ROM along with all of my apps. I8260 with stock ROM. I'll do a nandroid backup and try again. I'll tell you how it went.
Sent from my GT-I8260 using xda app-developers app
Cool, Its working for GT-i8262?
and..
why this mod not posted on themes and apps
I dont know if it work on GT-I8262, I dont even know if it work with all GT-I8260.
Its not a theme its a dpi change. And I think that if we want to port S4 - S5 on our phone we should eventually all change our dpi.
Works like charm..thnx
Sent from my GT-I8262 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
please Update This.. I really Like this,,
Thanks for this. It looks good to have a big screen.
Moreover, I don't know what happened but my RAM usage has dropped from 450 to 267-280 MB after changing pixel density instead of having lot of apps installed.
Here is SecContacts.apk that i moded for 200 DPI. ---> Click here
Thanks again. For the rest apps i don't care because I don't have calculator, email and stock camera
It's workning changing dpi on 8262 dual but this launcher is not, if some1 can give launcher i would be greatful

Hi bro . I have a problem . I do not work any application. I have the same model and rom stock

In this guide I will show you how to enable more than the defaulft 5 homescreens
First of all, you'll need Apk Manager, this can be downloaded here.
Extract the zip to a folder you like, I'll use C:\Apk Manager\ in this guide!
Download the Home.apk from this post, note: it's for the .145 fw only.
Copy the Home.apk to C:\Apk Manager\place-apk-here-for-modding\
After you've done that, open Script.bat.
Select option 9.
Now the Home.apk will be decompiled.
When it's done decompiling, go here C:\Apk Manager\projects\Home.apk\res\values.
Open integers.xml with Notepad and go line 10. Will look like this:
Code:
<integer name="number_of_desktop_panes">5</integer>
You can change that number 5 to any number you like, let's use 9:
Code:
<integer name="number_of_desktop_panes">9</integer>
Open values/styles.xml and change line 16:
Code:
<style name="Layout.ButtonContainer">
to this
Code:
<style name="Layout.ButtonContainer" parent="@android:style/Theme.Wallpaper.NoTitleBar">
Save and close the files. Now go back to the Apk Manager tool and select option 11, the apk will now be compiled again. It will ask you this:
Is this a system apk (y/n)
Answer with y and press enter.
After that you'll get another question:
Aside from the signatures, would you like to copy
over any additional files that you didn't modify
from the original apk in order to ensure least
# of errors (y/n)
Anwer with y again.
Now this will show up:
In the apk manager folder u'll find
a keep folder. Within it, delete
everything you have modified and leave
files that you haven't. If you have modified
any xml, then delete resources.arsc from that
folder as well. Once done then press enter
on this script.
Go here C:\Apk Manager\keep and delete resources.arsc.
Now go back to the Apk Manager tool and press enter.
In C:\Apk Manager\place-apk-here-for-modding you'll find this: unsignedHome.apk. Rename it to Home.apk and push it to your device with adb.
Adb commands:
Code:
adb push Home.apk /sdcard/
adb shell
$su
#mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system
#busybox cp -R /sdcard/Home.apk /system/app/
#sync
#reboot
After the restart you should have 9 homescreens

Now all I need is landscape rotation ...
Cool stuff. What will happen to my existing homescreens and all the widgets and icons on them after doing this? Will they get wiped?
And what about the overall performance? Any "lags" during games with so many homescreens?
Edit: Tried it, but got a message after starting the script.bat, saying that i have no java?! I have Java installed on my system. What should i do?

For some reason some widgets disappear, the best thing to do is clear data with Titanium backup and design your homescreens again
I didn't noticed any lag at all
Uhm, you might need Android SDK to be installed on your pc.. I could also compile the apk for you
I think i have the SDK on my netbook, but its about 100 km away. If you could compile it, i wouldnt say no
How many screens would you like to have?
I would like to try it with 9
Then you could just download the package from the first post
Oh, hehe, yes, um, i think i missed that one
I have root. Do i have to use adb push, or can i copy/paste the file to my device?
It's probably possible to just copy/paste it, but I prefer using adb
Maybe i did something wrong?! I copied the apk, but i played around with the permissions. After reboot the homescreens were empty, but not 9, just 5. So i checked the permissions of the old home.apk (did a backup before copy). I took the same permissions and did a reboot again. Now the phone boots up, i can unlock it, but there is no homescreen. All i see is the notofication-bar. What can i do?
Edit: I can access my apps and data using my WaveLauncher. I try to set other permissions. Maybe it will work.
Edit2: Ok, i set permissions like every other app within /system/app. Now i can access the homescreen again. Its empty, and i have 5 screens. But when i try to add a widget on my "main" homescreen, it says that there is not enough space. So i think the old widgets are still there, but i cant see/remove them. What can i do?

happened to me before, stop the process and clear the data
Didn't work for me, couldn't get it to install, kept getting persmission denied through adb, despite the fact I'm rooted!
Could someone upload a version with 3 homescreens please?
Also, in the res/xml/default_settings_apptray -> could someone change the default sort to az instead of free! This means it should automatically sort it alphabetically and will remember it on restart...a bug in the current build.
Thanks guys
Niall
Works for me now. I did a complete new flash and root and now building up everything from scratch. Feels better now

Instructions
Make sure your HTC Explorer is rooted - GUIDE
Make sure you have HTC Sync & Android Commander installed:
HTC Sync DOWNLOAD
Android Commander DOWNLOAD
Watch the video tutorial HERE!
1. Download the latest version of BlueMOD (link is at bottom of this post)
2. Extract BlueMOD.rar
3. Connect your phone to your PC (Charging Only mode)
4. Open Android Commander
5. In Android Commander, on the right side, navigate to '/' on your phone (you should be there already, you will see there is a 'system' folder there)
6. On the left side, navigate to the 'system' folder which you extracted from the BlueMOD.rar, now you have to go into each folder within this system folder and copy every file manually to the corresponding folder on the phone (note: you cannot copy the whole folder because the files will not copy, easiest way is to go into each folder then right click and select all, then copy).
7. Press 'OK' if prompted.
8. After you copy the files to their folders, disconnect your phone from the PC and restart it. (If the phone has errors or you cant restart, then just pull the battery out, put back in and turn on.)
9. Enjoy!

Thanks, I'll try to fix this ASAP.
When I installed this theme the language changes to English in most of the phone. Only few little things stay with the language I was using (in my case it was Portuguese).
Is it a known problem? Is there any way to change it back?
Great job
thanks for this mod..its amazingly blue ! xD
and for those who wanna flash it through recovery rather than copying files
here is the file ..just extract it in the BlueModv1 directory then compress it again to zip..copy it to ur sd-card and flash through recovery

Thank's, I think I must root my phone first and than do this.
I'm not programmer but I'll try.
Last time when I try to root this phone, I got brick.
I think it's better to install CWM and flash your rom.
Thank's again!
P.S.: If I have a chance to do this without root, please tell me how!
Pull it with adb. Make your changes and push it with adb. For adb commands google is your friend. Dont forget to Activate usb debugging. Also there was an adb explorer released on xda for drag and drop.

SQL Database Method
Sadly, it seems that rooting is a pre-requisite should you want to remove that dual clock.
Assuming that you've rooted your phone though...
Here's how I did mine:
1. Get an SQL Database Editor (hint: it's from the same guys who made "Root Explorer")
2. Using "Root Explorer" (or any other capable file manager app you have), go to this directory ->> /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases.
3. In there you'll find a file named "settings.db" This is what we'll be editing, so SAVE A BACKUP COPY of it somewhere in your phone.
4. Now, open that database using the SQL Editor, and go to: secure
4.1. Doing the above opens a list of things related to phone settings (in this case, secure settings). Look for the id number: 1069 / Its name should be: roaming_dualclock / And it's value should be: 1
4.2. Now change its value to: 0 / Save it, and exit.
4.3. Now go and lock the screen to check and see if it works. If it doesn't (as was my case when I did this), go back to 4.2 and change the value again to 1.
That's about it I suppose
I can't remember anything else besides these steps so there may be something missing. Should you find out anything, please let me know.

Thank a lot for this! I'm running Cloudyflex 2.0 on my VS980 and this was driving me crazy. This method worked great except that my value was 0 and I changed it to 1. Worked like a charm the first time.

works well on lg g pro 4.4.2 too thank you
Hi guys
Came back to xda after long times
Sorry to all my fans
If you like my work do please hit thanks
Now it is a very bad truth that core 2 will never ever get a lollipop official upgrade as its hardware is not going to support lollipop.
So i thought to provide my fans a bit long but trusted way to get a lollipop look,feel,performance on their lazy kitkat devices.
Lets get start
I SUPPOSE THAT YOU HAVE A ROOTED DEVICE. if not then check out my previous guides.
YOUR DROID HAVE ATLEAST 80 % BATTERY.
AND YOU HAVE NO BRAIN
with all this things you arevready to go.
Folllow me boys step by step
1 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP LAUNCHER
for this we are going to use NOVA LAUNCHER. You can use any lollipop styled launcher for yourself.
Firstly go to es file explorer and onnnnnn the root explorer option.
Then copy the nova launcher apk and past it to /system/priv-app.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like thisView attachment 3431496
After doing that just delete the default launcher apk and odex file from same folder.
Reboot device and you get the lollipop launcher.
2 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP KEYBOARD
for this we are going to use latinimegoogle keyboard.
Firstly go to es file explorer and onnnnnn the root explorer option.
Then copy the apk and past it to /system/app.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like thisView attachment 3431496
Then copy the lib and past it to /system/lib.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like
thisView attachment 3431496
After doing that just delete the default samsung keyboard apk and odex file from same folder.
Reboot. After rebooting go to settings of keyboard as usually and go to advance section there you will find that material theme option.choose material theme for lollipop look.
Apk and lib files are on this link
Apk https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByZiuaK2U388UTQ0dkJlc2RaZ2c/view?usp=docslist_api
Lib https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByZiuaK2U388ZGZVMFFrVk03RFU/view?usp=docslist_api
3 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP LOCKSCREEN
just follow all instructions which you used for launcher.but you do nat have any specific apk for lockscreen in samsung devicea so you do not need to delete any apk.
Download any lockscreen from market of your choice.
Make shure you have changed file permissions.
4 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP NOTIFICATIONS
all love heads up notification.
For that you need to download two akp
Xposed installer and its module " heads up notifier" both are in apk form so for both files follow the same instructions as launcher but again you do naot have to delete any apk at last.
Remember the correct permissions.
After rebooting just open xposed framwork and click on modules and enable the notifier module.come back to main menu and click framework and click on install and it will ask for rebooting.after reboot younwill have heads up notifications enabled.
5 - UPGRADING CORE 2 DISPLAY
now a bit different thing.
Open es file explorer and navigate to /system/build.prop.
Open this file.
Tap on the pencil on right top.
Now you will see a line ending with 4.4.2 just change it to 5.2.0
There are two lines saying ro.sf.lcd_density 240 change the value to 200 in both the lines
There are lines like
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=5m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=68m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=94m
Change them to
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=10m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=68m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=256m
Done save changes and reboot
Your device now is mostly like lollipop and you have a 20% boosted performance device which eats less battery when in power saving mode.
6 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP STATUS BAR ICONS
You can download xstana module of xposed installer.install it on your device and tap on notification in status bar after rebooting open the app and choose which style you want.
Follow the same launcher guide above but you dont have to delete any app.
NOW FOR IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A NAVIGATION BAR IN YOUE DEVICE YOU HAVE TO EDIT YOUR BUILD.PROP AND ADD A LINE AT ITS END
qemu.hw.mainkeys = 0
After saving fild just reboot and you will get mavigation r right at botton.
This is a screen shot of my device
