[Q] Difference between Verizon Gallery app and stock? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

What are the differences between the Gallery app on the Verizon version vs a plain HTC edition?
The VZW Gallery app has the Verizon cloud icon right on the main screen and I have no desire to use it. Is there any way to remove it?
I find the automatic effects at the top of each section extremely annoying and can't find a way to turn it off. What is worse is that I want to use the special editing abilities that come with the Duo Camera so I think I am stuck with this gallery as no 3rd party gallery apps have those features.

Disable Verizon cloud in apps. I disabled it and I don't have the Verizon cloud icon in my gallery.

List of apps i can safely remove or freeze.

Hey Community,
I been searching for the past 3 days on this forum. Can someone tell me or direct me to a list of apps that are safe to remove from the HTC One S...
THanks
Pretty much anything you want as long as you don't remove core asps that you need for your phone to function.
For example, I remove the stock browser, live wallpapers and wallpaper picker, picasa uploader, some of the gapps, and any launchers I don't use.
Just don't delete system ui or anything like that lol

If I've helped hit the thanks button
Deleting maps app yields most performance , quadrant scores go through the roof

If it helps, I've disabled these apps (running stock unrooted by the way):
411 & More (T-mo service)
Access T-mobile
Bonus Apps
Friend Stream
Friend Stream Lock screen
Friend Stream Widget
Game Base
Google Play Movies
Google+
Lookout Security
MobileLife
More for Me
News & Weather
Polaris Office
Slacker Radio
Stock Widget
Stocks
Stocks Lock screen
T-mobile Mall
T-mobile TV
Twitter
Twitter for HTC Sense
Twitter Widget
Watch
Watch Widget
Weather
Weather Widget
Zinio
You can probably safely remove these as well, but disabling them is just as good. The apps don't start, and it doesn't drain my battery like task killers would (services start and restart; disabling in ICS keeps them off)
Does anyone know what the screen shot apk happens to be? I keep on deleting a particular apk which kills the screen shot ability

[Q] Camera annoyances

How are other people dealing with the app icons that are introduced when updating the camera effects? Just leaving them in the app drawer? It's irritating having useless AR effect, AR fun, Background defocus etc icons in my apps folder.
I considered disabling the default camera and all these effects to get rid of them and using a more streamlined camera, but there's no way to change the default camera that gets launched with the physical button and the shortcut on the home page. Anyone got a (non rooted) workaround for that?
Thanks all! This is the last annoyance I have with the phone really. Any advice would be appreciated.

I took them out/disabled, as well. I also wanted a more slim camera app. Some are too gimmicky anyway lol. Id take out 4K as well since it overheats anyway with it but no option to remove. I disabled AR effects and AR Fun as well. The Info tool is kind of useful, detects books etc well.
Would have been nice if you could hide apps like in LG and HTC phones.

[Q] Help with random changes from older android

upgraded from the S4 on Verizon, have a few questions
1. how do I draw on screenshots/pictures now? I couldn't find an option to in gallery edit or google photo edit.
2. how do I see a text notification (an envelope) on the status bar of the lock screen instead of Verizon Wireless and the first part of the text message?
3. how do I disable the 3 buttons from lighting up?
4. which is better, Music or Google Play Music?
5. can I change the Messages theme back to blue and yellow bubbles or better yet custom bubble colors? I do not like the orange and white cremesicle theme
are these things even possible?
1. Apparently you can't. I was lucky enough to have this feature on my Moto x (Motorola gallery app). Try using a different gallery app (quickpic or cm gallery maybe?)
2. Probably can't get rid of Verizon wireless. I haven't played with it enough to even notice what appears, but doesn't the notification appear on the lockscreen? Just curious, why do you need it in the notification bar?
3. You can't, unless you keep the power saving mode on at all times. This bothers me too. Pray for root.
4. I pay for Google play all access. This way I can stream music from my computer as well as use the streaming service (like Spotify). For this reason, Google play music is invaluable to me. I've actually never used the regular music player on any phone. I never got into storing music on my phone.
5. I tried making the messaging app more appealing, too, but I guess you can't. I use textra, and have for a long time. It's pretty simple yet customizable enough to make you happy
Verizon GS6
Number three is all I really want. They really need to add an option for this so we don't need to use power saving and we might not get root.

Is there a mod to see Google Photos in Gallery?

I'm coming from a One Plus X before getting a S7 Edge 935F.
Very happy about the hardware but the software is not as friendly as on the One Plus X.
My mine problem is that I can't see "Photos" (Google Photos) in the Gallery.
On my old device it was an album inside Gallery. Made it easy to share a pic by SMS, FB and IG.
Is there a way to get this back on to my device? A mod, a hack or simply a setting I can't seem to find.
Thanks for your help!
Install the gallery app from the one plus x? Seems like its an app feature that samsung doesn't have.

How to disable new apps from creating shortcut

On sense homescreen? Can't see the option in play store anymore, and not in options anywhere?

Same here, I didn't find anywhere to turn it off.
It's something that I would have liked to have known before reinstalling all of my apps and all the icons appeared on my homescreen.
I came from an LG g4 and for all the stick LG gets for their os it has some really useful features that I always thought were stock Android. Smart settings used to automatically turn on my Wi-Fi when I got home and off when I left etc app pinning on recent apps so you can close all but leave say spotify running... Also LG also allows custom icons unlike HTC, I love this phone though of course [emoji16][emoji16]

Bump! I really hate icons being dumped on my homescreen. Wasn't like this on my HTC 10
I think this is an oreo thing. The play store does not have an option to turn off adding a new app on the desktop and HTC Sense does not have that option either. A workaround is to use a third-party launcher, for example, Nova, where I think you can stop this.
Or if you want to use HTC Sense, just remove the icon whenever a new app is installed. :silly:
