Can anyone please help me how can i turn off the camera flash light for incoming calls,
it has been activated automatically and now i dont know how to turn it off in my Nexus 5.
it would be an app that you installed, as its not a native option on a nexus 5.

have you checked the display settings in the main phone settings?
Like you said it isn't a native option on N5... I've never seen that on this phone before. It has to be Lightflow. That or it's a troll post..? I know iPhones do that...

Yes there is an option in settings menu. Every time I'm over a friends house his iPhone flashes the camera flash whenever he gets a call or text.
Yeah it's there, but it isn't enabled by default. That's what I meant to say.

there are several apps that let you do that
In light flow there is that option. Its right on the screenshots where you download the app.

Never understood why you would want this feature. I guess because everyone who sits anywhere with a smart phone puts it face down for some reason.....

What's the app called that let's me power up/unlock from sleep so I can press volume to unlock and don't have to always press power on top?
Also is there an app that will light up the screen for 10 seconds when a text comes in?

Widgetlocker allows this. It has a lot of customization options. You can even set it up to look stock.

Yeah I downloaded it and is way too bloated for what I'm looking for. I'd just like an app to do the sole function of enabling unlock of the device using the side button. Guess I'll have to stick with the top button to unlock
Thank u tho.

The first app is complicated and bloated, "No Lock" is simple and serves one purpose, to enable the one-click turning on (any button) of the screen. Exactly what I'm looking for. If you can't figure out how to use it (only has 1 button, 1 option), then you shouldn't have a smartphone, but I assume you were referring to Widgetlocker, which was way too bloated for my tastes.
Wait what about light up when you received a SMS or notif. No lie, hadn't realized how accustomed I've become to that being an iPhone convert.

The light flashes when you get an SMS. I too wanted the screen to light up tho, so I installed GO SMS app (free), it does just that, replaces the whole text app, read up on it.
I'm using Handcent SMS. Screen lights up and a quick-reply window is there ready for you.

NO LED is good
There's an app called 'NO LED" for Samsung phones that works for the Inspire as well. It lights up and put an icon on the screen when you get an email or sms can be set as a reminder - works great. Enable Accessability and check of the apps you want to monitor
Handcent SMS has an option to show on top of the lockscreen when a text arrives and I love it so far...

Why am I having so much trouble getting light flow to work? I just had it working fine on my galaxy Nexus so I definitely know how to set it up but no matter what I do it won't work.
Are there any special settings I need to turn on or off?

Make sure Light flow is checked in accessibility settings. So currently, having an "always on" notification for any one setting will mess with the other settings. Dev is working on a fix. other than that it should be working.
What exactly is happening on your end, you didn't give a lot of detail?

You should be starting to get the update now. I've done a workaround for always on as the LG drivers just don't accept it. I'd class the "always on " option for the Nexus 5 as being "almost always on"
Updated the app now, will see how it goes
I still seem to be getting notification light illuminated after the notification has been read.
Addmitedly I don't have it running as a foreground service.
Anyone know of a way to get rid of the lightflow notification in the pull down shade? I like to keep that area clean for notifications. I know other apps offer an option to disable that notification.

Ok Google only works from the home screen on 4.4.x versions of android, the moto x has a special always listening function built by moto as well a chip that has low battery usages that allows for the active listening function anytime. Its probably possible for the nexus 5 to do the same but it would drain the $h1t out of the battery.
In moto x it called the "active display".. In which the phone always listening thru its mic. If somehow our nexus 5 can have this feature would be awesome..
Sent from my Nexus 5 via XDA Premium HD
No, this is not possible as we do not have the same chipset as the Moto X.
utter! has "always listening even when screen is off" functionality (and much more).

Active Display is actually a notification feature that shows you what notifications you have while you're screen is off. It powers on your screen while you're phone is locked to show you notifications periodically. This feature was developed for the amoled screen that the moto x has since that type of display can light up individual pixels and not the whole screen to save battery. But active display has been ported by a few different custom roms now like Omni.

Without installing an App with the "always listening" feature it is not possible.
There are Apps for that.
Open Mic+ is a good one. Use it myself.
So, just like all the previous Moto phones, this one has a hidden LED too!
Using root and any kernel tweaker with an option to adjust leds, you can switch it on. It seems to be only white as far as I could tell but it's there! (In the middle of the speaker grill on top)

How bright is the LED? It might not be useful because of the front flash unless it's a dim light. From the picture it seems bright though.
