[Q] Black Screen on Home button - Alliance Rom - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi guys. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything that was exactly this issue.
Galaxy S3 running Alliance rom v22 with (though I had the same issue with v21).
Using Nova Launcher 2.3 or TW Launcher (haven't tried any other launchers)
When closing an app or the app drawer using the home button, many times the screen just goes black. I have to hit the power button to turn the display off, then again to turn it on to get anything to show on the display. I thought it may have been something with the Nova Launcher, so I tried TW, and had the same issue. I have done multiple clean wipes and installs with this and the v21 Alliance rom. Not sure it matters, but I am currently using the Beans Stock kernel, but saw the same issues with the Lean kernel.
This happens at least 10 times a day and is getting very aggravating, to the point where I went back to the 4.1.3 Jelly Beans rom after trying v21. I came back when v22 was released hoping something may have changed. Does anyone have any ideas of settings I might change or something like that that could fix this? Thanks!

[Q] Multiple launchers give same issues on BM MIUI ROM

I'm running the latest version of BM's MIUI ROM but every launcher I've tried ends up running really sluggishly and/or restarts itself, especially when closing the app draw. Rebooting the phone doesn't seem to cure the problem and I have now tried the Go Launcher and the premium ADW launcher. The standard MIUI launcher also seems sluggish when scrolling through the home screen pages although not to the same extent. Anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions that I could try?
Pressing the home button deposits me on the blank home screen as the icons slowly reappear.
Do a full wipe and try. A full wipe should fix it.
Or... You can use my MIUI SwAT rom!
Ok, will try and full wipe. If that doesn't work I'll give your ROM a whirl

[SOLVED] Home button not working on any AOSP roms

Hey everyone, I'm having a weird issue with my GS3 SCH-I535. On any AOSP rom I try (CM10 Unofficial and Official, AOKP) my physical home button doesnt do anything except wake the screen when it's off. It wont return to my launcher. This doesn't happen on touchwiz roms (Synergy, stock).
Any ideas?
Isn't there an option to change hardware key functions? I'm not on CM10 yet. I will be tonight.

I saw an option for changing the long press function and tried that, but even long pressing still doesnt work. the button is completely unreactive except for waking the screen
odd.. I tried flashing another kernel but it didnt support CM10 and wouldnt boot, so i reflashed CM10 without full wipe this time and everything works fine now.
my notification bar was also completely empty and that's fixed as well. maybe it just wasnt flashing correctly before?
either way problem solved

seems like i'm having the same problem. home button only wakes on screen off, also returns to home from notifications and recent apps ... but that's it.
Worked fine on a CM10 nightly 20121004 then flashed the 20121006 and it broke. Reflashed 20121004, and still broke.(just flashed the latest nightly, and still not luck) Tried what seems like all combinations of CM10/Nova Launcher/Trebuchet settings. Tried fixing permissions, wiping cache as well.
It randomly started working again last night, but again stopped working on a reboot.
I feel like this is possibly related; at the same time my Menu (long press) only works when I'm on the Homescreen
I have no legitimate answer to your issue, but on the galaxy players there is a variation in the us/international versions that require a home button/soft key patch built specifically into the kernel. Whether that can point someone to a solution, I don't know...

In case anyone stumbles on this thread;
I seemingly found out how to replicate this on a consistent basis. On reboot, home button will not work (except for above mentioned features)
Using the "Toggle Lock Screen" Notification Drawer Widget once or twice seems to restore complete functionality until next reboot.
I have no idea how/why, but it does seem to work for me.

[Q] Why is my UI vanishing?

So, I've been having issues with my TF101 for a while now. At first I thought it was ROM related, but I've seen this issue across a couple different ROMs, including the stock ICS update. The issue is that frequently, the launcher will crash and restart when swiping off the main homescreen. Other times, the UI overlay will crash. That is to say, the icons and everything will vanish, but the background will still be there. Sometimes a widget might be frozen on the screen (it's visible regardless of swiping, and you can't interact with it). I can still swipe, the background is still visible scrolling, and if you know where something should be, you can even tap it and it will open. Has anyone else experienced this? I've noticed the issue in the stock ICS launcher, Apex, or Trebuchet. When it happens, I either have to restart or at least re-apply the system them. Even the lock screen UI vanishes.
FWIW, my TF101 is a B60 unit, rooted, running RaymanFX's CM10 (4.1.2) ROM, and TWRP.
So no one's seen this kind of issue before?
I have a similar problem. Hitting the "home" button (it never disappears) solves the problem, no need for other apps or reboot or anything. I just plain hit the home button and everything reappears.

Sometimes, my UI vanishes, but if I wait about 10 seconds or so, it comes back. I guess the launcher crashes, but is automatically restarted by the kernel. I use the K.A.T kernel, maybe that is better with the re-launch when it crashes?

[Q] Phone lags ONLY when pressing home button [SOLVED]

Current setup:
ROM: RebelROM Senseless Jelly Bean (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120688)
Kernel: ElementalX 5.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061577)
Note: I don't think this issue is ROM or Kernel specific, as I've noticed it on another ROMs and Kernels (including the stock kernel), but I wanted to mention my setup anyway.
Over the last few weeks, I've noticed the one-and-only time my phone seems to noticeably lag is when pressing the home button to leave an app - sometimes it takes as long as 2 or 3 seconds for my home screen to appear. What is odd is that I don't see that lag if I exit an app using the Back button, it only happens when using the Home button. The type of app doesn't seem to make a difference, either.
Has anyone else noticed this? I swear the lag has only shown up in the last couple of weeks or so, but maybe I'm going crazy and it's always been there.
Re: [Q] Phone lags ONLY when pressing home button
I've used rebelrom with that same setup (and other versions of elemental) for a long time and I have not seen that issue... It is indeed odd though... Have you nandroided and seen if it does it on another sense rom with sense removed? Also, which launcher are you using?

Nova Launcher, though I've also seen it on Action Launcher.
I haven't tried another Senseless ROM, maybe I will when I get the chance.
So, I think I finally figured this out.
It's the weirdest thing, but a couple days ago, I tracked it down to the “List” App Drawer style in Nova Launcher. I can’t explain why this was causing it, except that perhaps I had too many apps installed and it was trying to keep them all in memory or was re-loading that list every time I hit the Home button.
Either way, now that I’m back to the standard “Horizontal” App Drawer style, all appears to be well.

Recent apps not showing most recent

Does anyone else have the problem where the recent apps/task switcher doesn't actually show the latest app? It usually does if I back out and then hold the back button again. For example, if I'm in Internet and switch to Messaging then hold Back, Internet doesn't show up in the switcher. If I tap back and then hold back again, it does.
Also, most of the apps don't show actual screenshots. They just show a black square.
This has happened with a couple of different ROMs, but I don't remember if it did it while stock. Is there a fix?
Anyone?
I also had this issue when I was on 4.1, but not on 4.2. I have 3 people in my family who have stock rom and also have this issue. I have been trying to search for a fix, but your post is the only thing that showed up. Have you found a fix yet?

Nothing. Seems to happen on all TW ROMs that I try. I switched to an AOSP 4.2 ROM for a bit, but realized it wouldn't work with my Fitbit and switched back to TW before I noticed whether it was affected.
It has to be a problem with 4.1 because I've always had this problem, even on my gnex when I was running 4.1. When I was on 4.2, it didn't happen once. It's quite annoying, but must have been fixed with 4.2.
