Hi,
I own a Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 gt-S6500D and I decided to install CyanogenMod 11 on it.
As I'm NOT a pro at these things, I did my research on Google on how to flash CM 11 but I seemed to stumble on the very first step.
Most tutorials recommended ClockworkMod so I flashed it on my device using Odin 3.07.
After flashing cwm-6.0.3.3-b2-jena.tar (I had to delete the .md5 extension), I couldn't go into recovery mode anymore to update to cwm 6.0.4.7.
When I press the volume up + down + home + power buttons I get the Samsung logo on the screen with that yellow triangle and it just stays like that.
My phone is not rooted and I'm looking for a solution to this problem that doesn't involve rooting my phone, as I find this risky.
What can I do now?

the md5 is to match if the file is corrupted. Your file WAS corrupted as it seems. Normally Odin will block the installation due to the MD5 hash check. But you removed the matchsum (md5) so you were able to flash it anyway. Thats real bad so far. Other possibility is that you flashed the file to a wrong partition.
Without getting into "DOWNLOAD" mode (Vol down + home + Power) Once you see the yellow triangle press "Vol up" to enter DOWNLOAD mode. Try to remove and reinsert battery before you try.
Okay, thanks for the explanation... I know I did a bad thing So what exactly do you suggest me doing now?

Alright. Did this. It went nice and smoothly but I still can't get into recovery mode. When I press vol up + home + power nothing happens... I also tried pushing vol up + down + home + power. I took the battery out and tried again. Still no luck.

Sent from my beloved HTC One S using (most time buggy) Tapatalk
Phone works fine except for the recovery mode which I still can't get into. I flashed the Samsung firmware you mentioned previously with Odin...
So let's flash a working recovery via Odin and you're fine
Sent from my beloved HTC One S using (most time buggy) Tapatalk
Latest TWRP --> http://goo.im/devs/thewhisp/jena-recovery//twrp-build-3-06052013.tar.md5 --> flash it via odin as AP/PDA
Be sure to have automatic restart checked in odin
Once you have twrp working you can flash latest CWM 6.0.4.7. Flash the zip via twrp pls. Its not flashable via odin.
My phone is just impossible! It refuses to go into recovery mode. I flashed twrp like you mentioned. Still no luck!

Seems as your partition has been corrupted
Did TWRP the flash without deleting md5???
Also CWM is avaiable, just extract from rar and flash via odin --> LINK
I flashed TWRP with the .md5 extension, but for cwm I had to delete it and use .tar instead.

Hi XDA,
I have a peculiar problem and I am hoping some of you can help me out.
I recently unlocked the bootloader using Adam Outler's original method. I installed CM10 kernel by Invisiblek. Everything was fine and dandy.
I wanted to try an update of the CM10 kernel, saved it in my Downloads. Booted CMW recovery, and here is where I made a stupid mistake... I formatted sdcard, formatted data, formatted system... etc. I then realized that now I do not have the kernel saved anywhere on my phone (/sdcard) anywhere.
In an attempt to get the kernel zip file on to my phone (root of sdcard), I hooked up my phone through USB to my Windows 7 PC (by this point I had installed Samsung USB drivers) and my phone didn't show up as a USB device.
I thought I had soft-bricked my phone and in order to bring it back, I then I downloaded ODIN3 and the stock VZW ICH-1535 firmware, booted into ODIN download mode with the device hooked up to the PC. I put the firmware .tar file into PDA, pressed Start and this is what ODIN gave me:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> HOME_I535VRALF2_I535VZWALF2_618049_REV09_user_low_ship.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)
I just want to install CM10 back on my device again.
Oh and I must mention that I have a FAT32 formatted microSDHC card handy, and I tried to flash the kernel through that... but CMW doesn't give the option of flashing through an external_sdcard.
Please help me in installing CM10 again, I sincerely hope I hadn't bricked my phone.
I have had problems with that tar file. Use the root66 tar once it's its flashed to the phone it probably will not boot past the 4glte logo. Hold volume up home and power and choose factory reset. You will have to install a recovery again use ez recovery and I am not sure if it locks your bootloader again just download the unlock app from market.
USE THIS METHOD I'M TELLING YOU IT WILL HAVE YOU UP IN NO TIME JUST REINSTALL CM10

Look in the device manager on your computer. Do you see a orange triangle with exclamation mark on it. If so disable and then reenable device. Odin should now see it. You are in Odin mode though correct you sound kinda newb no offense volume down home and power press volume up to accept.

John, I may be a noob, but you are awesome! So using your instructions I reached the verizon boot animation ... but like you said, the phone won't go past it, and it didn't. I did the factory reset through the stock android recovery and it still gets stuck at the logo.
What is your advice?

If you can get to the boot screen, your phone is not hard bricked, the kernel is wrong so it doesn't know how to load the correct blocks/mmc. Just grab the stock kernel floating around, or the complete stock rooted md5 or tar and flash via odin.
I could be wrong but I'm 99 percent sure when you formatted system you deleted your current ROM meaning your phone has no system to boot into. I have done this before. All you have to do is boot straight into CWM and flash a backup or any ROM you have Downloaded. You aren't bricked.

Probably yes, if i could flash it over regular cwm and it worked. For some reason regular didn't work well for me when flashed over philz's but then flashed philz again and all is good.

Ive got problems. I used flashify to flash the latest philz over twrp 2.6.0.0 and all seemed well.... as soon as i got philz up and running i ran a backup (as usual) by choosing "backup to sdcard" as i do on my phone with cwm. It backed up... completed successfully.... i rebooted... then for the fun of it I rebooted back to philz just to make sure i could access my new backup if need be and there was the cwm folder w/backup subfolder but no restore file. I then realized that what it has done is backed up each individual file/folder to my sdcard!!!! like im talking folders everywhere... Istead of 1 nice restore file all the individual elements of the backup are now on my sdcard directory as i dividual folders!!
has anyone else experienced this and what did i do wrong.?? .. now im looking for the twrp recovery.img so i can run my other backups i made with that and start fresh... anyone know where to get that?? all i can find is the tar file and my tablet wont let me open that to extract the recovery. img....
rrrrrr....

I was able to flash the twrp and restore my backup that way so im back at square one now. Just wondering how to backup to sdcard properly so that doesnt happen again....i would prefer to use philz...it backed to my ext sdcard properly...just not internal....
Recovery for T310 lt01 wifi.
Good recovery.
By Odin, reboot, alright. By recovery made a Backup Rom. Full wipe data + cache + dalvik. Made Restore Rom. Okay.
Some more tries all work well.
Power + Vol-Up --> Recovery (When appear Samsung logo, pull finger from Power and wait only pressing Vol-Up).
Power + Vol-Down --> Download mode.

I'm trying to install TWRP on my Galaxy S6 (920F) running android 5.1.1
I've followed the steps (method 2): http://androiding.how/how-to-root-galaxy-s6-on-android-5-1-1-all-variants/
When I start up in recovery I see the android icon, after that I get a menu that looks very different than what TWRP should look like (saw some vids on youtube) and there is no option to flash the kernel..
The top says it's Android system recovery 3e, so I'm assuming the TWRP wasn't flashed..
I'm really confused, flashing my old galaxy s3 and rooting it was quite easy but Samsung really ****ed it up this time
Does anyone have a good tutorial for this? There is tons of tutorials but most of them are outdated, for the edge version or for some stupid branded US carrier phone.
Update: just tried this tutorial: http://galaxys6root.highonandroid.c...root-galaxy-s6-or-s6-edge-with-twrp-recovery/
Which resulted in a boot loop, so I did the CF auto root as suggested. Now my phone wont work at all. It's stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S6 powered by android screen.
When pressing volume down and power button the phone turns off, but immediately turns on again and I get the same screen.

I have a rooted S6 with TWRP, and as far as I can remember, i think I rooted my phone with unikernel first on odin. After that I then flashed TWRP on Odin, and everything was sorted.
Have never flashed ROM from TWRP directly so wouldn't be too sure how to solve your exact problem
Samsung did not do anything, it's an user error
Flashing the kernel and TWRP takes 30 seconds on the 920F if you have the correct files.
Get TWRP from www.twrp.me and unikernel from XDA. Flash them both with ODIN, done.

I was stuck on the same screen as you are a couple of days ago. I'd first sort that out by flashing your stock rom from odin. Then after the phone is sorted, use Unikernel and TWRP through odin (Just make sure to download the correct ones).. (This is good if you're not worried about keeping any data, hard to backup if you can't get access to the phone)

Yup, as long as it is the correct ROM, also it HAS to be 5.1.1 otherwise it will result in an error while flashing, so just make sure of that
You don't necessarily need Samsung Kies as shown in the tutorial as most PC's will automatically install the device.
Good luck!

Yup, as long as it is the correct ROM, also it HAS to be 5.1.1 otherwise it will result in an error while flashing, so just make sure of that
You don't necessarily need Samsung Kies as shown in the tutorial as most PC's will automatically install the device.
Good luck!

Hmm... if the ROM is alright, then it could maybe the version of Odin youre using? I used v3.10.6

Hello guys as you can see this is my first post , so here it goes:
Do you have to be rooted to use TWRP Recovery with Odin on a soft bricked phone (Samsung
galaxy S3 sprint sph-L710) and make and nandroid backup directly into your pc and them
restore the backup from your pc to your phone
and them flash the boot.img that was created during this backup?
Would this save my phone and all the data? will everything remain the same
even if im doing the backup after the phone went bricked?
also if i can do the nandroid backup on a soft bricked phone , can i just save it to my pc , get the boot.img and flash it without having to restore the backup?
Thanks
1. Yes, Root Is required for any Custom Recoveries.
2. No
You should use an RUU to reset your phone, and retry rooting

Phone is soft bricked , do i need to root after installing TWRP? but if i root them all data , and family pictures, videos, messages are going to get deleted, this is my main concern right now.
Just trying to figure out how to get it back up without having to wipe everything.
So is this possible? create a nandroid backup on a bricked phone , save it to your pc and just flash the boot.img without having to restore the backup or root your phone? someone please point me into the right direction , i almost have a week without phone and reading making research and still cant get it

Chances are, you won't be able to save your data, I'm not aware of any method to get data off of a soft bricked phone.
I soft bricked mine once, usually it means your pretty much screwed. If anything. Try plugging it into a computer and seeing if there is any files. If not.. use an RUU and try to not be to upset about losing everything.

I'd alsor ecommend using dropbox from now on to backup photos. Its what I do.
Also, keep a backup on your computer... Backups of backups man.

If this is the case so why many ppl are saying that they just flash the boot.img thing and the phone goes back to life with everything intact. A lot of ppl recovering their data from this soft brick problem. I know is possible i just need someone with enough experience to help me out with the questions that i stated above.
So anyone? somebody? just clear up this one for me
even if the phone is bricked, can i root it , install wprt recovery , make
nandroid backup , flash new stock rom to unbrick and them restore the backup? does this sound like a good idea?
They also say that you can flash the stock rom without wiping , and this can also
fix the problem without losing any data? is this true? dont need to be rooted for this?
Again, you can't root without any firmware.

ok , seems like i am a super noob cause this is the first time im dealing with this so
i was in the TWRP recovery official page and went to download it for my specific device and it says (No Root Required) . So this means what?? what does this means , cause u would normally understand that u can install this custom recovery without being rooted , thats what i understand when it says "No Root Required" , or can you clear this up for me? thanks
"TWRP Install (Requires TWRP 2.8.4 or higher already installed):
Download the latest TWRP image file (.img) from the download link and boot TWRP. Go to install and find and select the Images... button. Browse to the image that you downloaded and select it. Choose recovery and swipe to flash.
Odin Install Method (No Root Required):
You will need to download and install Odin on your PC. Once you have Odin installed, download the proper .tar file for your device from the download link above. Power off your device. Turn on your device using the proper key combo to get into download mode and attach the device to your computer via a USB cable. Use the PDA tab or button to browse to and select the tar file that you downloaded and flash the device.
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install."
If you have ODIN you dont need root.
-If you don't have ODIN then you need root.
---------- Post added at 02:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:12 PM ----------
If what you have posted is correct. You have accidently removed the ROM on your phone, which means you have no Firmware. So you dont have anything to boot onto except the bootloader. But if you have USB Debugging Enabled, you should be able to PUSH a new ROM on to the device.
---------- Post added at 02:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:14 PM ----------
But your issue is that you need a Stock-Android ROM for TWRP to patch, which you dont have.

The phone goes into download mode , i didnt do nothing , i just restarted and it gets stuck on the samsung logo.
So if i have odin in my pc , i can go to download mode, install custom recovery which in this case is TWRP, make a nandroid backup , decompress the file , extract the boot.img and flash it with odin? or after making the bckup
just flash the stock rom and them try to restore it? which one sounds like a better idea?
It will always get stuck on the Logo, cause it can't load up any software because it doesn't have any on the phone.
And yes, you can do that as far as im aware.
Otherwise just flash a stock rom and restore.
Or just find a RUU and re-root your phone.

Just download from sammobile your full firmware and unzip it then flash it with odin and you are good to go! Will not wipe anything :highfive:
(You can also flash now a custom recovery and do a nandroid backup but it's not needed since you can just unbrick your device easily!)

Ive really messed up my phone trying to root it...
Ive deleted the OS by accident. Ive downloaded a couple off the internet:
G920FXXU3DPFA_G920FTEF3DPF1_G920FXXU3DPF1_HOME.tar.md5
G920FXXU1AOCV_G920FTEF1AOC1_G920FXXU1AOCW_HOME.tar.md5
when i try to install either of these on Odin3 they just Fail.
I can access the download part and 'team win recovery project' on my phone
for some strange reason my pc now also says my phone is SM-G920S. But its a SM-G920F

What version of Android were you running? Was it a stock ROM or a custom ROM? Also, where did you download the stock firmwares from?
Also, when you boot to download mode what does it say your device model is?
If you can still access TWRP, boot to your recovery, connect your device to your PC with the USB cable and then download a custom ROM for you device and then transfer the downloaded ROM to your internal storage. Or, you can save a downloaded ROM to a USB OTG device and use TWRP to mount the OTG device so you can flash a ROM.

When you installed Alliance ROM, did you perform your "WIPES" in TWRP?
Do this:
Boot to recovery
Select - Wipe
Select the check boxes for:
Dalvik Cache
System
Data
Cache
Do not select Internal Storage because that is where your ROM will be saved unless you are transferring the downloaded ROM from your PC to your device.
Try these steps and let me know what happens.

How long did you let it sit and attempt to boot. The installation instructions say it will take around 10 minutes to boot. It will take this long because the ROM is deodexed.

Hey there @Kevin12121
If I am to understand correctly....you are saying you deleted the OS . You probably did this with TWRP. Why not flash another rom like XtreStoLite 3.3.1.. I don't think Alliance will work due to bootloader . If Odin fails then you probably downgrading.

Hey man. I'm glad it's working. Deodexed ROM's take longer to boot than an Odexed ROM. I've seen some ROM's take almost 30 minutes to boot on my Galaxy S5 SM-G900P. It can get a little scary if you don't know that is what is happening. Good job on your patience.
