My Epic Sense 6 Splash Screens - One (M8) Themes and Apps

Hey guys, waiting for my phone to mail in...meanwhile I made some splash screens. Enjoy!
Version 1
white
black
Version 2
white
black
I used this splash screen maker to make the splash screens with the correct android-info.txt, so hopefully these should work. However, in case they don't, I take no responsibility if you guys brick your phones applying this through the bootloader.
Also, I figure I should mention, there is no gray border around the actual splash screens
instructions, as per @dgtiii
Code:
1. Place splash zip in your fastboot folder, rename splash.zip.
2. Reboot to bootloader, connect your phone to pc, should go to Fastboot USB mode
3. Fastboot oem rebootRUU
4. Fastboot flash zip splash.zip
5. Fastboot reboot-bootloader
6. Unplug your phone, select reboot in bootloader, see your awesome new splash screen!

Sweet boot screens...:good:

Splash screens or bootanimations ? Afaik splash screens can only be edited with s-off. If they are boot animations i suggest to edit the title to rule out confusion
Nice screens anyway

These are splash screens. I saw a few other threads with splash screens though? Confused...if I make them flashable through recovery will they work?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk

Well try but i really think you need s-off to write the partition where the splash screen is located. I also read in the OP of the splash screen creator that s-off is mandatory.
Edit :
But don't worry if they don't work now, i think that s-off will be available for the M8 so your work is not for nothing !

Looks awesome but why the "Beats Audio" at the bottom?

Nice work, especially love version 2

Awesome thanks for the PSD!

ok I fixed the first version, and once I find a copy of Cambridge Round Light Expended font somewhere, I'll make some boomsound splashes

Hey these are some sweat splash screens. I like the first one with HTC sense 6, but I cant download it. Every time I try it says its invalided. Hope that gets fixed one day and I like the idea with having powered by Boomsound as a footnote like I read somewhere here earlier. I like the art, keep it up!

I am going to ask a dumb question, but how do I flash these? Ssojyeti2, did you test these on the device? I just can't get them to work, and I'd like to, you did an excellent job on these mate!

When is it invalid? Is the download link broken or does it not flash properly?

[tut] how to flash splash screens on new bootloaders!

hello peeps. i've recently come across something in my searching for an easy way to flash a splash screen. here is what i have found. thanks xhausx for (unknowingly) telling me how to get into ruu command mode. so, here it goes.
this is for people who cannot downgrade hboot to get extended commands, and just want an easy way to change their splash screen.
this is new news to me, but if it has been stated before, please tell me.
step 1: download any splash screen from the forums. it should be a .rgb565 file. rename it to splash1.img
step2: download the file i have linked. this is your lifeline. i will update the text as htc updates their protected bootloaders.
step3: place splash1.img and android-info.txt in a zip (both in the root). this zip must be made in a program such as 7zip (pc) or betterzip (mac). you can name it anything you want.
now to install
adb method:
first, boot your phone into fastboot. this can be done by typing in
adb reboot bootloader
your phone should now be in fastboot usb mode. next, type in the following command. be careful, it is CASE SENSITIVE!
fastboot oem rebootRUU
you should now see a black w/ silver text htc screen. just to clerify, the zip should still be on your computer. type the following.
fastboot flash zip /path/to/zip.zip
wait until it is done, then type
fastboot reboot
and you have your all new splash screen!
no adb method (noobs)
this method is much simpler, but a little more annoying. rename the zip you made to PC36IMG.zip (case sensitive) and place it on the root of your sdcard. then reboot into bootloader by powering off phone, and then holding power button and vol down at the same time. it should ask you if you want to update. select yes (vol up). once it is done, select reboot (also vol up).
both of these methods have been tested by me multiple times.
if you have any problems, post, pm, or email me.
happy flashing!
reserved for future stuff... possibly

Just because it has views and no posts doesn't mean its bad. It could not pertain to the user or they don't need it, or have nothing of "importance" to say. The info is still getting across, just think of it as a courtesy to not spam up your thread.
Edit: Its a good method, by the way, though I use another method because I used unrevoked, but still clear.
my bad didnt mean to edit this one. forgot what it said either way.
Like the other person said. Great job and very useful info. I might be using this method shortley if I convince my buddy to root his evo. He has the latest ota.
wow, thanks for the thanks. i'll delete the slightly annoyed want attention comments.
Thanks for the info!
Hey dk, I finally got my splash to change. Turns out the rgb565 I made was the problem. I grabbed a different one and your method worked perfectly! I'm going to try to make another splash to get a better picture. Thanks for the help!
Can't think of a witty tag line. . .swyped from my Warm Evo.
no problem. ya I thought the file you sent me was the problem. Maybe send it to somebody more advanced who can move it for you?
Can I use these methods if I am rooted with UnrEVOked3?
Yep it can be used no matter what root method.

The method worked great and I was going through a similar method by another user and the android-info.txt was throwing up Model ID errors in the boot loader.
Yours however worked in a pinch!!

I've used the recovery method vs the bootloader. In your opinion, is it more convenient to flash the splash image through bootloader vs recovery? Preferably, I use recovery because I can easily organize my Splash1.zip files in their own folders. Also, when I learned about this, I thought I read that the bootloader process only worked for older hboots. Can you comment on that? Thank you.

Never flashed a splash screen in recovery I have always flashed them from bootloader so I couldn't tell you which is better and flashing through bootloader can be done on the EVO 3d as well so i would have to guess that no matter what hboot you have you can do it that way

Ok I am pretty busy this weekend, how ever below is a few files for you guys. I know some doesn't belong here but since I nabbed them I figured I would throw them in the post also. Now since I am not familiar with the process of flash recovery with the htc unlock. If someone would be kind enough to post the commands, it would save me some time. How ever be warned this does not have the wimax stuff in it. As it has been a good while since I played with a shift 4g. In turn I almost forgot all about the wimax stuff.
Any way here goes.
Stock Recovery: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/Kindom_Stock.img
Cwm Recovery ( Not sure of the version right off but synced sometime last week): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/kingdom-testing_recovery.img
Stock Radio (Not sure of version, but is from the ruu for you guys): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/radio.img
Then for kicks h-boot 1.22:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/hboot_1.22.0000.img
I have no idea if it will work, but don't see why it won't at least boot. Since I don't know what issues you guys had to begin with. Not sure what the recovery may have issue wise. Let me know if it boots and if keys are mapped correct. Functions you can test though be warned to do so at your own risk.

There are actually 3 things which has a default white back, and could (should?) be black..
The first is the splash (static) screen, which is actually on a different partition than the system/data etc.
The 2nd is boot-animation which appears after the splash when the phone is booted
The 3rd is down-animation, appearing when the phone goes to a reboot/shutdown.
Please find the 3 attached files for each - keep in mind that the splash is a flashable zip which needs to be flashed via 4Ext,
The bootanimation and downanimation zips should replace existing files on your rom - different roms have these in different locations, but AFAIK always somewhere in /system - root is needed.
Nandroid is your friend - always create a backup first!
Thanks for the splash. I'm happy the white one is gone. Do you know where there is any more? I like this one a lot though. I just wanted to see what else there is.

Hey, this is really great. However I'm a bit of a noob and just flashed a new ROM and now looking to flash this splash screen. I flashed the zip file, but unaware what to do with the other 2 zip files. I found a 'bootanimation' file within \system\bin but no downanimation file. Also I know these zip files contain many images not just a single file type. I'd really appreciate if you could advise on this. Is this splashscreen also silent? As after the flash I have no noise, but still the annoying white display
---------- Post added at 04:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:16 PM ----------
Ok so I got the splash screen working. It had to be stored in system/customize/resource. I still however have no sound on start up. Also, initially turning on the phone still gives me the white with green HTC without quietly briliant before then giving the black boot splash screen... Confusing :S

Hey thanks for the reply. I'm not S-OFF but I use 4EXT with SmartFlash enabled to overcome this. I was able now to get the black splash screen working, however prior to this bootanimation I still have a white background with green HTC. I think it's like a BIOS screen maybe? ok, I've not tried this yet as I feel you misunderstand my issue... I have my new black HTC splash screen. But before that comes up I have another image, the original white one. I think this might be called the 'boot splash'. I have a found a page which does the change for the HTC One S, I think I need something similar for the HTC Sensation. AS the very first line of this page highlights that boot splash and boot animation are two seperate things:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777223
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Ok, I'm being a complete donut! The flashable splash screen zip is what replaces that static screen right 'boot splash' as I referred? Even if I didn't flash this and just replaced the bootanimation and the downanimation, I'd get what I have now?! But why can I not do this with SmartFlash Enabled on 4EXT, as I thought this acted as a temporary S-OFF? It's just when I flashed the zip, it said it was successful and also I now have no boot sound when starting the device, do you know why that is?

the second one(new black HTC)is the bootanimation
the bootanimation you can change it also even without flashing anything at all

Cool man thanks. Ok so I just looked into doing S-OFF, and I see I'd have to install Ubuntu onto a virtual machine and it also mentioned that you should ONLY perform S-OFF with a stock ROM, is this true? As I have upgraded to Inspiration 1.0.1 ICS with Sense 5 MOD and this seems now then to be quite a bit of hassle.

you can use this guide either for S-OFF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617
just request for the windows version tool
or request it also from ganeshp's guide
and yes install the stock rom
just backup inspiration rom through recovery
and after S-OFF restore it

EDIT: Sorted it, for some reason in the folder system/customize/CID the file default.xml had:
<BootAnimation animation="/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip"/>
when it should have been:
<BootAnimation audio="/system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3" animation="/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip"/>

I stumbled across people wanting to do it for the HTC Desire HD, also there is much stuff on people wanting to remove the 'annoying sound' as they referred to it as. I had this sound file missing, so I added it to the /system/customize/resource location, but still didn't work. That's when I found the default.xml file to have that line missing within /system/customize/CID. Added it and whala, now have the start up sound again

[Q] Is there a way to completely wipe HTC One XL?

Ok... so, I'll admit it, I messed up my One X. Was trying to put CM10 on it, got stuck on the blue, circular boot screen. Tried several fixes from the forums, but nothing worked. One attempted fix even ended up writing over TWRP. Now all I can get is HTC boot screen (complete with red wording beneath) and occasionally the CM10 screen. The fastboot screen says "tampered" and "unlocked".
Here's my situation. AT&T is sending another phone. I have to send this one back to them, and I just want to make sure that they can't figure out I was trying to install a third-party ROM. Is there a way to completely wipe the device altogether so that I just won't even try to boot?
If not, I'll just take my chances that they don't know what to look for besides water/physical damage and won't charge me full price for the replacement.
Any help is appreciated.
Your device is in a completely fixable state but ok...if u want to make it so your device doesn't turn on at all flash a Rom called ice cold jelly ...if youother wise the best you can do is have it say relocked and they would know you unlocked the bootloader...
don't flash ICJ, just relock bootloader and ruu.
if you have no physical damage why are you getting a replacement phone?
Did you flash boot.img?
And how about you not ask how to defraud att because you don't know how to flash and fix a botched flash.

... and this is why we can't have nice things. Thanks, guy.
All I can think is, at least he did not throw it under his car.
It can be salvaged, where as other clown just destroyed it for nothing.

Brother, if you can tell me how to fix this thing, I am all ears. I don't want to replace it, but after trying so many different ways to fix it from the forums I just kind of gave up.
If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it!
Thanks for the reply.

All you had to do is fastboot the boot.img thats inside the zip bro.. Are you familiar with fastboot at all? If not we can walk you through it!

I did flash boot.img. It just never moved past the CM10 starting animation. And honestly, not super familiar with fastboot three days ago... fairly familiar at this point. But nothing seems to get this thing to work. Please tell me what to do!
(BTW - I only called warranty at the advice of an AT&T employee in the store. I'd love to just fix my phone)
Twrp 2.3.1.0, wipe everything, flash boot.img in fastboot, and flash cm10 and gapps in twrp.
How do I get TWRP back on it?

Ok, great. I've downloaded the TWRP recovery image and the Goo Manager APK... now how do I use Goo Manager on a device that won't boot up?
You can't BC its an app.. Download tarp off the official site, a quick Google search brings it up first shot... Once downloaded, drop the recovery img into your adb and fastboot folder.. Enter fastboot USB on your phone. Now right click on your adb/fastboot folder and choose "open command prompt here"
Once cmd is running, type fastboot flash recovery <---- type in the name of the twrp img you dropped in

Exactly right! If you screw up your phone, take responsibility for it! Don't make somebody else pay for your failure.
Do you even read before you flash rom's? clear red letters. This could brick your phone or even worst if you dont know what you're doing
Research very much before doing anything, that's how I started

Completely agreed. The notion astounds me (and disappoints me also) that the OP was going to send the phone in for a warranty replacement simply because they didn't do the proper research and learning before modding the phone. And when the condition was completely and easily reversible. If the screen comes on with this phone, it can be recovered.
