Can't download to sd card?? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

It seems I can't download anything to my sd card through Boat browser. Tried getting the weaksauce apk and it wouldn't download while set to save to sd card. Had to switch it back to internal storage. Anyone else notice this? Is it just Boat browser or Kit Kat? I thought I downloaded some stuff before straight to ad card.

It's a KitKat problem. Won't be able to write to the SD card until we get full root and not just /system/xbin root (WeakSauce).

Not true. You can write to sd with Weaksauce. Just install Xposed and use the Xposed module.

I have had the odd issue or two with it. But also have gone most of the day without trouble. Where I see trouble is usually where I am fiddling with stuff alot. That said, Enabling Xposed is a fast matter and if you don't want it enabled all the time you can just go and do it fast for some SD card work then disable it when done.
I was using Xposed with App Settings changing the DPI and all my stuff, a module to enable writing to SD, a module to hide NFC icon, and GavityBox cleaning up my statusbar and usually had no issues.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot because lack of SD card R/W is irritating me to say the least.

[Q] Rooted Huawei G6 - Apps can't access phone memory

Hi,
I have a Huawei G6 from China. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it with vroot and installed SuperSU.
I can install GoogePlayStore and all kind of different apps from it. And they work mostly fine. But for some reason some apps show issues:
- I can't take a picture. It says "Storage full, install SD card". Although phone memory is still around 1 GB left.
- I can't open files from Dropbox. "Not enough memory, or storage full"
- ES File Explorer doesn't show local SD card
- Some apps, like Waze just won't run "Waze can't access your SD card. Make sure it isn't mounted". That one totally confuses me.
What's missing? How can I fix this?
If wrong sub-forum pls move this post accordingly.
Thanks
Andy

Excellent! That worked.
Do you then use anything else as substitute? Is it actually required?

Ok I resolved as described in this thread, in this way obviously the phone became unrooted. I really don't know how the problems described can be caused by rooting it, how is it possible ?
Does the problem described depends on which method used to root the phone ? I used the towel application (last version) , is there any root method for G6 that doesn't lead to this issue ?

[Q] Bloody hell, is there no way to copy back stuff to the SD Card?!

Why hallo there peeps!
I have rooted my Z3 and before that I copied everyting from the internal and SD card to my Macbook through Droid Nas and it worked flawlessy. The problem is to get it back... Is there no easy way to do it??? The infernal horror way of blocking writing to the SD card after Kitkat 4.4 is just pain in the ass :/
I have been searching and trying but havent found any easy way... Sofar the only way Ive found is to copy files to the internal and then copy it manually back to the SD card..
There has got to be a better way than this?
Install xposed and download the module kitkat sd card full access to fix

Have you tried just browsing a network share from File Commander and using that to copy directly to the SD card?
I haven't tried this yet myself, I just use USB to copy stuff as its faster but I think File Commander has better access to storage being the system file manager.
why not use a card reader for the sd card? the issue with kitkat was applications/data writing to the sd card unless the fix was applied, from what you are saying you are having issues copying from the computer to the sd card when its in the phone

Well I know that works but I want to get it working to copy directly to the phone the freedom and access ya know.
I tried last night with File Commander and it worked fine.
Set up a a share of the music folder on my HTPC.
I then used the Local Network function in File Commander with the following settings.
Domain: workgroup
Server: HTPC/Music/
User: (username)
Password: (password)
Server name is just the name of the network device and the name of the shared folder.
I was able to copy over folders of music from the HTPC to my phones SD card directly over wifi. It wasn't particularly fast though but both devices are on wifi.
File Commander could be a bit better at selecting multiple folders at a time though and whiles it's copying, you can't use the app for anything else.

http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer I used version 2.6.1 on mines for T-Mobile Z3 and it works flawlessly give that one a shot.
Gutdamnit, I cant get no xposed to work. I tried the latest , 2.6.1 and it says:
"Xposed is not (yet) compatible with Android SDK version 21 or your processor arcittexture (armeabi-v7a).
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: could not load library "libdvm.so" needed by "/data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/cache/app_process"; caused by library "libdvm.so" not found"
What to do?

Download FolderMount. Run it, grant it root access, and then let it patch the system to allow full write access to external storage. After the phone reboots and you've verified it works, you can uninstall FolderMount.
Finally got it working, checked out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 and installed the Alpha release and it worked
So know I got Xposed working and all the mods I want, finally!
Thanks for all the help peeps! :good:

There's an xposed module to give access to the external sd. Also on the forum are instructions on how to modify your platform.xml to do the same thing. Did you search?
Not really, because it work it with application sdcard fix

After each reboot the system go to read only. Because of that I can use the SD card...

Best way is to mod your platform.xml add media_rw... That's it.

If your sdcard is being mounted read only it's failed stability checks...you should copy your data off and reformat it (preferably on a pc and tell it to do a full format...try using fat32 instead of exfat also)....you may have some bad areas on it.
The idol 3 can be very picky about sd cards...I ended up having to go out and buy a samsung because it hated my sandisk one which has been rock steady in all other devices...the sandisk would randomly not mount at all and have to be reformatted.

Just install this app and enable it.

After it's ran and enabled the fix I believe you can uninstall it.

Accessing the SD Card Outside of My Files

Some of you have likely figured this out, but after spending a few minutes poking around ES File Explorer Pro and being unable to locate my 64GB SD card, I finally found the location.
From the root of Device Storage, go to /storage/. Your name will likely vary, but mine was found as /storage/6D31-DA1D.
Having an SD card in my work S5, it was much easier and just required looking for ExtSDCard under /mnt/.

Just to add, the same applies to a SD card attached using an OTG adapter as well. Not as much need to use OTG now except for those times when you just want to transfer something over quickly.

6D31-DA1D looks like the assigned serial number after the card is formatted. If that is true, then everyone will have to look for a different hex number for their card.
BTW is ES File Explorer allowed write access the SD card without root?

First time you try to write to the SD card, you get prompted to follow some steps. From there on, it can write to the card without error. Created a test folder and file on the root to verify.

So I gather that Marshmallow didn't inherit the Lollipop "Apps can't write to SD card" rule. That's good news. I prefer to transfer files from my PC to the phone via WiFi. Never made sense to have to use two file managers to copy files to the SD card.

They are restricted by default, but you can grant them access if they've been updated to know how to properly request it. Google made that change awhile ago, but most apps or OEMs never implemented it.

This happened to me after running Package Disabler, also complete inability to write to SD card with ES, MI, or any other file explorer. Turns out Package Disabler flags External Storage(com.android.externalstorage) as bloatware and I had to make sure I unchecked and enabled it again.

Help Editing an App

So, without going to much into detail, I'm trying to find in the apk where the path of in app downloads go, and can not for the life of me figure it out. There's no gui option, so there has to be a sting in the XML or db files somewhere. If anyone can help, is appreciate it. And we may have to take it to PM, I'll have to read the rules. Thanks!
Its the location of where thumbs upped files go. I don't want them to go toi internal, but to my 128gb sd card. AMD since I can't make it adoptable. I'm running out of options.

I am not sure if I understand what kind of help do you want
But if running out of space and want to move obb and data folders to external sd card to save space
You have to flash xposed and install xposed installer and to install two modules: marshmallow sd fix and Obb On Sd
And don't need to worry about anything about that issue anymore.

I cant install xposed I believe due to Qualcomm chipset and locked bootloader. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought framework didnt work like custom recovery wont. That's why I was trying to find the location of where its telling the app to save the downloads but I cant for the life of me find it. LoL
