OK. Unplug your phone then plug it back in and you should see something like USB connection, choose charge only. If you haven't enabled developer options yet do so by going into settings, then About phone, software info, then tap on Build number like 7 times. After that go back into settings then development options then enable USB debugging and you should pretty much be set.

Yes ioroot updated today with iorooot25 for KitKat. Not sure if it works as Verizon is still on jelly bean. Those root methods that are made for like every device (like kingo, etc) never seem to work these days.

[ROOT] Root Samsung Galaxy S4 with Motochopper

A recent root exploit I published for Motorola devices, Motochopper, should do the trick for rooting the Qualcomm-based variants of the Samsung Galaxy S4, including the AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile branded models.
Download the exploit here:
http://vulnfactory.org/public/motochopper.zip
Instructions:
Extract the entire contents of the zip file.
If you are using Windows, ensure you have installed the latest Samsung USB drivers available for your phone.
Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
Connect your device to your PC via USB.
If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute "run.bat". If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute "./run.sh".
Approve the ADB connection from your PC on your device.
Warning:
At this point, since there are no custom recoveries or stock images available, it may not be possible to repair your device should you accidentally break it. Please be aware of this before performing any modifications to your phone.
As always, future OTA updates may remove the ability to regain root access, so proceed with caution when updating. Enjoy!

ADB / Fastboot / Driver problem

Hey guys,
I am pretty new to the rooting stuff on the Nexus.
I read the sticky threat from rootSU (http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...urce-guides-info-threads-linked-read-t2784527) and followed his description. So I installed ADB and fastboot through the "15 sec. installer" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979).
So fast so good, everything went fine. But as I tried to "check" if ADB and fastboot are recognizing my device with the command "adb devices" and "fastboot devices" in cmd, I got some strange output (look at the picture).
How can it be that ADB "sees" my device and fastboot not? What I did wrong there?
(I didn't installed the drivers with the 15 sec tool; when I plugged in my device to the computer, it downloaded the drivers itself)
Any help would be very appreciated!
Follow the next step on my thread and install the naked drivers
Okay thank you!
I'll try it tonight and report back.
I also thought of a problem with the drivers, but I thought that I messed up with installing ADB and fastboot somehow, because ADB could recognize my device.
One question again: When I uninstall the Nexus 5 drivers and I reconnect my phone to the pc, it download the driver itself.. How can I stop that to install the naked drivers?

Remember - adb ONLY works when Android is booted up or you're in recovery, fastboot ONLY works when you're in the bootloader

Damn, thats it! I am so dumb! I don't know how I could forget that.. I read it some hours ago.
After I went into bootloader mode, fastboot recognized my device!
Thanks a lot guys, now I can go to the next step to root my device! =)
Btw.. another question, which is offtopic - does it makes a difference to root KitKat or Lollipop? I guess the guides around here are all made for KitKat and I don't want to mess up. :/ Thx!

@rootSU has posted some new guides on rooting Lollipop, so best read his threads in the General section
To root Lollipop you have to use Chainfire Auto Root. There is extra security in Lollipop that keeps the old root method from KitKat from working.
Oh I see..thats annoying. But thank you for your answers! I guess I'll read those threads. =)
Btw.. Can you guys tell me if I understood everything..:
To go back to the official 4.4.4., I don't have to root my device, right? I "only" have to unlock my bootloader and flash the official factory image through fastboot. And afterwards I could root my device using the guides around here on xda.

On my old Samsung Galaxy Ace you had to root your device first, before you even could install another stock rom, thats why I thought it would be the same for the Nexus 5.

[Q] Is it Possible to root from the device itself? (p5113)

I tried rooting a friends tablet to change the rom but the problem is when i connect the usb cable it wont pick it up as a device so odin doesn't see anything and we tried for like 2 hours and nothing, and at the moment he cant buy another cable so i was wondering if its possible to root the device within the device so i can change the rom?

Root/Unlock Bootloader/TWRP for Metro Stylo

Anyone have a link or instructions on how to root, unlock the Bootloader, and install custom recovery on the Metro varient running stock 6.0? Been searching around and can only find 5.1 and down instructions. Cant afford to brick.
from what i am reading, you should be able to use the same method that they used to root the tmobile 6.0 update found here http://androidforums.com/threads/guide-how-to-root-t-mobile-6-0-update.1008880/
i havent tried it myself yet, so if you have the courage please report back and let us know how it goes

Thank you for this link. This worked beautifully. i was able to get into TWRP and do a full backup and install Super SU. Yes, I'm using MS631 with Android 6.0 and now I can say I'm successfully rooted. This made my day being able to root the Stylo after the upgrade.
Encase you're unsure on how to gain access to a command line through Windows hold down shift key and right click the file. Should see the option to open command line and from then on follow the steps.

I did, it turns out, I had to install the appropriate drivers fro the Stylo MTP, then I had to install the appropriate ADB Drivers by updating to LGE Mobile ADB Drivers, then after that, I had to do "adb reboot-bootloader" and that booted it straight into the fastboot interface, but to no avail, I couldn't get fastboot to recognise the device, so I went into device manager, and I saw "(something)com bootloader interface", I expanded that, and saw Android Bootloader interface. So I updated the software, hit load from PC, and hit Android Bootloader Interface Version 9.0.0.0 instead of 11, and fastboot saw my phone
