[Q] Scratch Wireless Photon Q switch to Sprint Rom? - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

I have a Scratch Wireless Photon Q that I Scratch Wireless will not activate for some unknown reason. I would like to flash the sprint rom onto it and use it on the sprint network. Will this cause any problems?

I don't think Sprint will activate the device unless it's one of Sprint's ESN's...
I am not a Sprint employee, and I spose it never hurts to try. See if they will even activate it before flashing anything.

I contacted Sprint via live chat and they said that I would need to bring it to a Sprint Store to get it programmed, before that I wanted to make it stock sprint. Ill try it later today and report back.

Well, I tried it and it worked great! It took me a while to get RSD Lite to work, but after that it went smoothly. Now, if only I can flash it to page plus.

sprint tp2 to boost
i am stuck at boost csr and i need help.. i have a sprint tp2 trying to get to boost i checked to see if i have a clean esn and i do and i also read many blogs/forums that are well respected keep getting shut down. need help badly
I called today and swapped from my mogul to a TP2 I got on ebay, the csr asked my what kind of phone it was, I said I didnt know, she asked what the meid was, and once I finished giving it to her she said well, this is a sprint phone but I can activate it anyway you just might not get data. She proceeded to activate the phone, give me the msl and walked me through manual programming (##MSL#, then type in min and mdn), the phone rebooted, she had me try a test call to *611 and it worked, sent me to boost, we hung up and I tried going online, as soon as it tried connecting, it said updating prl, then updating profile, then the phone rebooted, and everything works.
just for the record, this is the sprint tp2, they will not activate a verizon or alltel one. I had mine running the stock rom, just experimenting earlier, I tried doing a ##786# reset in energy rom and it worked but then didn't reprovision, flashed the stock ruu and on boot up it did a profile update and connects fine again.

I have a U.S. Cellular on Verizon but I was converted recently from Alltel. So I actually got the U.S. Cellular TP2 activated on Alltel then was brought over with the conversion. Everything seems to work except when I boot to Android data is flaky but use to work fine on Alltel they have an open ticket for me. Give them a call and talk with a tech to get it activated. Just don't say anything about it being a U.S. Cellular phone and you might get luck. If they say its not a Verizon TP2 then disagree and ask them to force it through. We are suppose to be able to take our devices from one carrier to another as long as its CDMA to CDMA technology per FCC order. Verizon also joined the Open Device a few years ago so it should not be a problem. Good luck!
Oh but mine is still all setup for Alltel...must be a grandfather thing but at least on Windows Mobile everything still works. I tired to configure it for Verizon but data did not seem to work. And mine still says U.S. Cellular as the carrier....wish I could get that to go away.

[NS4G] Nexus S 4G on MetroPCS?

MetroPCS does not have this phone listed in it's list of flashable phones.
How might I get this working? If I were to get my hands on a MetroPCS ROM for another android device, is it possible I could piece together a working ROM? Or does anyone have any other ideas?
It's currently set up for Sprint (clean ESN for Sprint, not that it matters much for what I'm trying to do).
....... no
one rom for 1 phone doesn't work for another. it requires work to port
Yep, I got that. I was more asking if there is something I can get from an existing metropcs ROM to clue me in onto what changes to make.
If I reset the SPC, upload a metropcs PRL, and I'm assuming change any wap settings to use metropcs's internet... is that enough? Or is there really more to it than that?

the answer is no.
WiMAX isn't even on MetroPCS. It uses LTE. There is just way too much difference in terms of radios and frequencies.

Ahhh. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll activate on Sprint then. Anything to get away from AT&T right now, service in my areas has been horrible for months.
Metropcs nexus S`
Well obviously the 4g portion of it is different.
Now the evdo and supposedly 3g should work on are where metropcs has it.
Its no problem otherwise you can do everything you can with the nexus, just at a slower Internet speed.
You should probably be able to follow a tutorial for a samsung phone.
Is it possible to get an unlocked CDMA Nexus S so that I can use it with Metro PCS. Which brings up another question, would Metro PCS allow me to use the Nexus S on their service?
Technically, the Nexus S as well as the Nexus S 4G are "unlocked" and can be rooted with no special hacks. I would imagine that MetroPCS can develop their own ROM along with a radio and make it available on their site if users choose to do that. I don't believe there is anything in Sprint's contract which would cause a lawsuit for doing that.
The question is if MetroPCS will allow this phone on their network... it's up to them but I don't see why not, as they don't make money on phones anyway (I think)

Why would MetroPCS make a ROM for a phone that is unsupported? They'd have to go to Google to make a compatible phone in the first place.
Why would they spend money on making a ROM for the Nexus S? That just makes no sense. A radio is also not open-sourced. Radios can only be created by Samsung or Google for the Nexus S.
Get your facts straight
Whoever asked the thread said nothing about ROMs. He asked if an unlocked nexus s could be flashed over to metro which it should be able to.

[Q] T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4G on AT&T Network..

I gave my old Samsung Galaxy S 4G phone that I had on T-Mobile to my girlfriend and unlocked it through t-mobile to be able to use it on her AT&T network. She placed her AT&T sim card in the phone and I unlocked it. The phone works fine but it will not go past "Edge" speed, is this due to the different network frequencies or is there anything else there can be done so she can get 3g at least? Would I have to Root the phone to be able to do so or is there any other easier ways to go about it? Thanks in advance for your help.

I switched to AT&T to get the HTC One X, but I hated that phone (but it had a nice camera), so I got the AT&T Galaxy Note.
I unlocked my SGS4G so I could use it on AT&T to test radio changes, but also I noticed that I only got edge. If I go outside on a really sunny day sometimes I see it get hspa, but I don't think t-mobile phones can get 4G on AT&T's network.
I would expect at most getting edge. The ONE time I did see the phone go to hspa, I still didn't see xfer rates increase. It was slow as hell.
I think the answer is finding the right modem.bin. Our radio device is a little different then the other galaxy s phones, and most of the ones that use this same modem are on t-mobile. I'm hoping to find another phone that uses the same modem on at&t.

Actually, I was wrong. I was hitting the same stupid build prop thing where you're only on hspa if you're using data. If not it bumps you down to 3g.
AT&T works fine on this device.

Yeah, I just recently moved to AT&T bringing this phone. It shows a 3g status but seems to be as fast as it was on T-Mo but depending on the location. My wife has the same device on T-Mo and we drove from Chicago to Florida finding that usually one of us had a signal.
The visual voicemail isn't available from AT&T on this phone but the basic v/m works
I need help on unlocking my SGS4G for AT&T. Every time I try the app method, it either returns the code as "null" or has some busybox error. And the hexcode method doesn't work because mobile terminal can't find the file on my phone. I am running Beanstalk 4.4 ROM, and it is rooted. How can I unlock it?

Try going back to BML and unlocking there as the methods that you'll find on this forum are more reliable that way.
This is one of the free methods I have:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419468
If you still can't get it to work, I do have a paid app on Google Play that can work for you:

I've read countless posts on here saying that was just a kernel... Thanks for the correction
@champ1919 is correct, BML refers to stock touchwiz roms. I recommended that because although I don't own this phone anymore, I wrote the unlock script a while back and I know it works fine on stock roms if you install busybox from google play, after rooting the phone.
Once your phone is unlocked, any newer roms you install will keep the unlock and if you decide to go back to stock after THAT, your phone will still remain unlocked.

This seems like the most sure fire way of going about this, I haven't had time to do it yet but I think I'll go with stock then unlock.

[Q] How to get Nexus 5 to work on Sprint

I recently bought the nexus off someone and found out it was the one that came from tmobile but was factory sealed. I put in my sprint sim from my htc one but it wouldnt activate to the network. after the setup process it shows that its on sprint but cant make or receive calls or texts( no data). I know the nexus can work for all sprint its just getting them to enter in the IMEI manually which they say they cant do. Id rather not go through the process of reselling and finding on that someone got from sprint so has anyone gone through this issue that got it working?

you have to call them to add your imei into their system. nexus 5 that sprint sells already is in their system, but yours came from tmo. so it manually has to be put into their system. problem is many sprint reps dont know that and will tell you its not sprint compatible. but it is, they just dont know.

Ill have to go to an actual sprint store ( and not the retail owned on near me) to see if they have experience with it. Calling customer service yielded me no help. Would rooting be an easier approach?

If you live near a store - go. But now you know what you're asking g for, calling should be easier.
Not sure how you think root will help? You can't force your details into the sprint system with root.

you usually have to get a tier 2 tech support person to get the IMEI added into their system.
root has nothing to do with adding stuff into their system.

- You don't need root to flash radios
- Radios won't help you connect to sprint
- Dont think there's such a thing as a sprint radio on the n5
- All radios work on sprint.

While there technically is no such thing as a sprint specific Nexus 5, from a practical standpoint there is in that Sprint did not load any of the IMEI numbers into their system from the devices that were sold directly from TMobile. Without the IMEI number in Sprint's system, their frontline agents have no way to activate the phone. As was mentioned in a previous message you have to get elevated high enough within Sprint to get the IMEI number added to the system. I have not personally tried that but have heard that the results are hit and miss.
