Hello,
Yesterday at lunch I dropped my droid Razr HD on the floor, and broke the screen and digitizer outright.
The screen is unusable, however the phone appears to be working. I can get text messages and see the LED blink.
I am going to verizon today to purchase a new one, be it under warranty or not, because I need my phone for work.
Right now I am keeping the phone on the charger so verizon can transfer whatever they can.
My question is, is there any way I can copy over or "clone" the phone over to the new one?
As if nothing ever happened?
I am rooted, however the screen is unusable. I intend to buy the exact same phone.
I don't want to use anything overly complex if I don't need to. I just want my new phone to look like my old one.
Any help/tips/advice is really appreciated. I need my phone back ASAP.
I will have a stock Droid Razr HD along with my broken one today around 8:00 est.
Thanks in advance!

Use philz, you can use the keys & the screen shots from the main thread to judge you presses. That is if your boot is open.
If you are locked-boot. You are done.
You could also try and replace the screen on the phone yourself?

Digitizer is broken as well.
Screen (LCD + Digitizer) is available on eBay/Amazon for about $100/120 and is very easy to replace it

Alright so I know that there has been some discussion on this POS model of a phone, but I would love to know before I get the digitizer replaced, if it's a bug or something else.
I guess it started about 8-10 months ago, my brother bought the phone from Mobilicity here in Canada and he let his friend borrow the phone for a call. She dropped it on the cement and the glass cracked. The LCD itself is functioning, but when I got it I had to wipe the device through the recovery menu using Power-X then ALT-L. Anywho every month or so since I got it a few months back for free and long story short it's been glitching out constantly.
Now finally the screen barely works and until I got the "smart" idea to recover it again thinking it would fix but the screen only reads the bottom right side and nothing else. Oh and I'm stuck on that stupid Touch Android to Begin screen. So I'm pretty much SOL'd. Basically my question is this; is it the digitizer, corrupted FW, the phone is just shot or all of the above?
If it's repairable could someone please tell me how to enable usb debugging without the touchscreen or in the very least bypass this Android screen with the keyboard, PC or both? I used Droid Explorer a couple days ago to even control the screen with ScreenCast?
I know of ADB, Input Events, and stuff like that but I really can't figure out what to do. I thought about Clockwork but because the phone has a locked bootloader, I wasn't sure I could even install. Hell I even consider using my other phone to do a NANDROID backup but even that won't work.
So in short what the hell do I do?
So i purchased a LCD/digitizer from eBay and received it in the mail this morning. I followed the steps and was able to get my cracked screen (digitzer&lcd) off. After assembling it all with the new screen i ran into an issue.
There is no response from the screen at all it is just black. The phone boots fine though because it vibrated and then a few minutes later i can hear my notifications go off and the led is flashing.
could it be a bad connection with the wires, if so what one should I look at, Did i buy a faulty screen, or am i just sol?
is there any difference between a One X and a One XL screen?
any help is appreciated.
purchased from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271006361868?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2923wt_1218
Could be bad connection..there is a YouTube vid on replacing it..

yea that is what i am assuming since nothing was working but i just wanted to see if anyone else ran into this issue :/
I've successfully replaced the lcd/digitizer on my htc one xl, and gonna be doing another one soon. Make sure the connections are fully clamped in place. the top connection closest to the htc/at&t logo on the screen controls the touch, while the bottom connection controls the picture. So just see if the bottom connection is damaged or maybe out of place. If nothing is wrong with them then you may have a faulty screen. I suggest always testing the screen before actually putting everything in place with the adhesives, so just connect it first and if it works then you can reassemble everything.. I'm not too sure whether there is any difference with the htc one x and one xl screen. As far as I know they should be very similar. But I would definitely stay on the safe side and get only the screen that is made for your device. I have not attempted using one with the other.
Hi guys,
my DS did some strange stuff lately. It began with the screen staying black when I woke it up (hardware buttons did turn on and touchscreen also worked). I thought it was a software issue, because after a few on and offs the screen usually worked again. Also, this never happened when the phone was charging.
But a few days ago the screen never turned back on again, even when charging. I got a new battery but still no change. It won't even turn on when booting or when going to fastboot/ hboot.
Does anyone have an idea what is broken? I think my best guess is to have a look at these other screen replacement threads, but I wanted to ask first because the screen seemed to have gradually become broken, which confuses me. I didn't think something like that was even possible. Also, I can't return it since I bought it used and in Germany (DS is USA exclusive).
Thanks for help
Most certainly hardware as it is black when in bootloader and ROM. Best guess is the LCD but could also be the main flex the likelyhood of any thin else is fairly small.
Do read up on the screen replacement threads as this phone is one pain in the ass, you also need to be aware of what LCD to buy as there were different ones and they are not compatible.

Thanks for the tips. Screen might be still ok since it went out gradually, could be a defective contact since it also went on and off randomly. But I guess there is no way to only replace this contact, too complicated to find out... I will see.
Yeah, I had a look at these threads already, thank you
I had a program that I moved to the sd card that would cause the screen not to come on and would have to do a battery pull. When I moved the app back to the phone, the problem stopped.
(Walgreens app)
It has happened again since, so it may be another app I have to track down. Or I may be looking at faulty screen trouble too.
Sent from my MyTouch 4G Slide using Tapatalk 2
even if an app on sd were the cause of this it certainly couldnt make the screen blackout while in recovery and bootloader mode. to the best of my knowledge it has to be a hardware fault if screen wont turn on in bootloader... but well ive been proven wrong in the past
Well since I had problems with the screen turning off before when it did work in recovery, there might be a connection to daswerk's case. However I kept all my apps on the internal SSD and do remember checking it. Also, my screen turned back on sooner or later or when I played around with the keyboard.
However later it was off even in recovery mode. I did disassemble my DS lately (and broke my screen like seemingly everyone else hehe) and am now waiting for my new LCD screen to arrive in Germany from the states haha. Shipping costs were higher than LCD costs, d'oh! Thanks again demkantor, you've been helping me indirectly with your posts in the other threads as well
So guys, screen arrived, reassembled my phone, switched it on aaand... black screen.
Graphic chip or motherboard may be broken. I'm thinking about a loose connection because screen turned off once in a while before it never got back on. I found a user by coincidence here on xda who reported the same problem.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Don't want to forsake my dearly loved DS :'(
Next most likely would be main flex cable

Are there other possibilities as well? I'm thinking about getting a whole replacement set so I can try everything shipping costs are high since I live in germany hmmf
btw, digitizer/ touchscreen doesn't seem to work either, is this another sign that main flex cable is the prolem?
There are always more possiblities I was just letting you know what I would replace next as the most likley cause.
Having multiple phones to exchange parts is a good idea and really about the only way to test different components
And yes have no digitizer working can be a sign of a bad flex as well

I run a cell phone repair company and we do quite a few repairs but this in particular HTC One X has us all stumped here. We do realize that there are 3 different versions of the dig/lcd and we have the correct part. But has anyone had problems with trying to replace the HTC One X dig/lcd assembly. It seems that after I put the new part on the lcd is black but the phone is still on. I even went back and put the old screen back on and it is still black. Prior to the repair the lcd worked fine. But just the digitizer was cracked. I have even went as far as changing the motherboard on the phone to a new one and am still having the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Have you checked the ribbon length to make sure you do not have a break?

It would seem to me as though it's just as simple as one of the connectors is not plugged in or just not plugged in properly, which is easy to do since one of them is on the underside of the board which I believe is the one for the screen itself.

OP already stated that going back to the original LCD did not yield results.

Exactly. Seems like the only probable answer is that something was broken during teardown - either a cable or connector. Given the size of everything in there, it doesn't take much....
Did you ever find a solution to this?
I'm kind of in the same boat at the moment, BUT there's a silverish lining
In the midst of replacing a screen on my One X. Phone is obviously "on" (despite being in pieces on my desk), but n either the new or old screens will come on when I push the power button.
For a lark, I plugged the phone in, and did an 'adb reboot'
My splash screen comes up on the new screen just fine, as does the Viper Logo and my home screen and everything.... but once it shuts off the power button will NOT re-wake it up. At first I thought "I must have broken the power button" but I also forced a notification to it - which also typically wakes up the screen - and also saw nothing.
EDIT : Cancel that; for some reason the power button didn't work until I had the case back on. Grounding maybe? Either way, working fine now.
Some Ebay product page for a screen replacement said you should first power on the device with the old screen, then take the old screen out while the phone is running and put the new one in.
Maybe you should trie that. I'm not a hardware expert, so do some research before trying this and don't blame me if it doesnt work
That will only work if the screens not working. Op. It's difficult to narrow the issue in your situation. If the flex cables don't work, it's a short which would require much more advanced knowledge to fix.

Hey guys. SO, I recently dropped my Note II. The screen shattered, but was entirely responsive to touch input and functioned normally (besides shards of glass splintering into my fingers heh) I kept telling myself I would get it fixed "soon" and before I did, it dropped again. This time the screen was not displaying properly and no longer responded to touch except on the notification bar. I pulled the battery and restarted the phone. The screen is no longer lighting up or displaying anything but the phone still boots up as I can hear the startup sounds and flood of incoming text messages.
I previously rooted my phone, left the stock rom on....
Now my intent is to adb into the phone via laptop and usb. and making a "clockwork recovery style image" and then hopefully use an emulator to run the image to extract my data from it. Looking for any guidance or suggestions to get my data back from the device.
If not possible even a backup on the internal drive would be wonderful. Would I be able to make an image of this device and then flash it onto another note 2 to access my saved information?

looks like you broke your digitizer (second time you dropped it), you could just replace the entire lcd and screen instead of a new note, not too hard just be careful you don't break anything in it, that can be big bill thought. did a quick search and on eBay looks around $190 and up... which is redonkulous. i think you could cook your own ROM and get all your data back by doing a adb/system/pull if you wanted a new note 2.

Yes I wanted to replace the broken digitized rather than buy a second note. I was going to use a friends Note II, if I can pull all of the data off. You say adb/system/pull, or do you mean pull the system folder using adb? If you are aware of one would you link me a guide on adb? It's been some while since using the commands. Thank you for your reply.
