Hi,
During PC LAN parties with my friends, my Wireless card lags and skips (its a pretty old wifi card). I usb tether a lot and it runs really fast, but it uses a lot of data.
What I want to do is use my phone as a wifi reciever. I thought I could just usb tether to my pc, but instead of using 4g, connect my phone to wifi and use that, but when ever I usb tether, it makes me turn off wifi.
Is there any way I can do this? Preferably without using something like PDA net, but if thats my only option, ill use it.
I am using the latest version of "Clean Rom" and I am rooted running 4.3

what i want to do is to use an external wifi connection that my android phone is receiving, on my pc. in other words, the phone would work as a wifi adapter for the pc (because i dont have one in my pc). i tried usb tethering, but it lets u use only 2g/3g connection, not wifi.
any app which can do this?
Hmm normally it should work with wifi too.
Try to deactivate 3g while you're tethering.
Otherwise try apps like pdanet or another one but I forgot the name.
Sent out of my Free Candy Van.
your talking about reverse tethering and yes flussen is right just turn of mobile networks and it should work and ive seen this done using wired tether 1.4 from google.
ok, it works with data connection turned off.
it is possible to use my Galaxy Mini as a WIFI Modem? i want to share the PC internet connection via Wi-FI to my laptop,is it a way to do that? i know that i can use my phone as a modem if i have a data plan, but i dont want that. pls help
ํYou can use Android phone to Wifi hotspot.
Setting - Wireless & Network - Portable hotspot
If I understand correctly you want to connect machines via WiFi to you phone that is plugged in to your main PC which has an internet connection?
Ahh, I know what you want, I used to do it on my iPod.
I'm pretty sure PDANet should allow this, just USB tether with WiFi on, and it shouldn't turn it off.
If it does, then there's another program that I can't remember that does the same thing.
Dear All,
I am currently using a Windows Vista based laptop with a Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless card in it with updated drivers. Now whenever I try connect using connectify to make a wireless hotspot it does create a hotspot, but on my android handset I can't find any wifi network in range. Pls suggest a way to reverse tether my phone with my pc without the need of rooting the phone. I am currently using a Android v4.0.I am using internet through a USB Data Card.
Thanx All.

your going to have to root it to be able to tether pc to your phone or phone to pc.
use "pda net+" for usb theathring wifi hot spot as wel as bluetooth theathring.
There's another app called FoxFi that claims to handle wifi tether w/out root. But I've never used it ,and i'm not sure if it works to tether in either direction, but worth a quick look .... (can't post a link cuz i'm not >10 posts yet)
To preface this question, I do NOT want reverse tethering as I am not rooted and currently rooting is not an option.
I am a teacher. My school does not have wifi, and obviously you can't install software on the computers. However I often have the need to use apps on my tablet that require a network connection. What I'm wondering is this:
Suppose I get a cheap USB wifi dongle somewhere. Is there a program that I can install onto my flash drive (think Connectify) that will allow me to broadcast a wifi signal via the dongle? As far as I am aware, Connectify can't be used from a flash drive (but I may be wrong).
Thank you in advance!
Since my old $15 TP-Link WiFi adapter I bought a few years ago has been disastrously slow (4mbps with stupidly bad ping spikes in games, only supports 2.4G), I decided I'd use my old Nexus 5X with USB tethering to use its WiFi connection. I can get 100+Mbps on 5.8G now - great! However, I've been wondering why it can't function as a normal USB adapter in a few areas. You can't select the wireless network you want to connect to from the PC and I can't successfully use programs that require port forwarding such as Moonlight Gamestream. I understand that this method of internet connection is bound to bring limitations but why is there no option to fully utilize the network card inside of the phone if I don't need to use the phone anyways? I'd really appreciate an answer from someone who might know about this...
