Hi,
I upgraded to KitKat a few hours ago and missed gigamatrix icons. I tried to flash them but the locations are different and because of that just a few were changed.
I replaced the original icons inside the apks with gigamatrix ones (Must-icon/signal/batterie/wifi) and replaced the apks with root explorer and its working. Haven't found any problems so far.
I use CloudyStock 1.2 Firmware for the 802. I don't know if this will work for other roms, but if you want to try, make a backup of the original apks first.
Extract the zip file/files to get the apks and put them into the corresponding folder. Your rom has to be rooted.
Three to overwrite. LGEasySettings.apk, LgNfc.apk, LGWirelessStorage.apk - copy the apks to root>system>app.
Three to overwrite. LGContacts.apk, LGSettings.apk, LGSystemUI.apk - copy the apks to root>system>priv-app.
One to overwrite. framework-res.apk - copy the apk to root>system>framework. This file is not always included, but even without i haven't found problems with CloudyStock 1.2/1.3
Please make a nandroid backup first. Just in case.
If you don't know how, then I wouldn't use this files.
I'm not responsable for the problems that can occur.
The files listed here are not flashable, you need to replace the apks.
CloudyStock 1.2
systemapp
systemprivapp
rzeljko had problems with locked BACK-HOME-MENU buttons on Stock Rom 4.4.2 D802
If this happens to you too, you can try these files

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0rn9zuipdpcd7m2/Gigamatrix_CloundtFlex_v2.0.zip
Files for CloudyStock 2
http://d-h.st/4NP
Try them if you want, but as always use at your own risk. Accidentally I named the file pro2, but it is for Stock2
Update - Don't replace the LGSettings.apk. If you do, you can't access the Settings anymore. The app is crashing.
Lightning Rom V2
http://d-h.st/bLi
Update!!
You can try to flash them now on KitKat 4.4.2!
I have tried them with some different roms they work. Still for D802,
but maybe they will work with other versions, too. I don't know.
Use the attachments below, no need to extract them anymore.
Just flash them, I put the battery, data, signal and wifi icons in one single file.
I also made files for Cloudyflex, cuz the dimensions of the icons and the subfolders are different.
I also included the icons on the left side of the satusbar - like:
wireless storage, usb, wifi-hotspot and some others.
If there is a rom which is not working with one of these files,
please try to change it by yourself. It's not difficult.
Confirmed to work with:
Pardus Hd Rom 6.0 by westwood24
Stock KitKat D802 by tpteam6
CloudyStock by me
CloudyPro by me
CloudyFlex by me
Pardus Hd Rom 7.0 by me
Hope you like it

Uhh explain in english.
All I did was to extract the files from gigamatrix to see what apks are inside and then the whole firmware to get the original files. I renamed the proper apks in the firmware folders system/app and system/priv-app (3 in each folder) to *.zip and extracted them as well.
There is a folder \vrtheme\system\app\......apk\res\drawable-xxhdpi inside each gigamatrixs zip. This folder contains the pictures - with these replace the pictures in the original files, zip (I use 7zip normal compression) them and rename them to *.apk again. Then replace the files and reboot your device.
Hope thats not too hard to understand

@mba1973
extract systemapp.zip and copy the apks to root>system>app. Three to overwrite. LGEasySettings.apk, LgNfc.apk, LGWirelessStorage.apk
extract systemprivapp.zip and copy the apks to root>system>priv-app. Three to overwrite. LGContacts.apk, LGSettings.apk, LGSystemUI.apk
The LGSystemUI.apk contains the icons for battery, wifi and signal, too. So if you replace the LGSystemUI.apk with mine you will get these icons too

In your previous post there a two links for the Contacts but none for the EasySettings. I have used the one from Cloudy Pro II V 1.1

Which Rom, my *.apks are made for CloudyStock 1.2 Firmware for the LG G2 802, but they work with CloudyStock 1,3, too. That's what I use right now. I changed the icons only, nothing else. I don't know why you are having these problems. Maybe you can try to extract the contact.apk from the original firmware. The one that you have flashed

With this you can flash 4.4.2 offline, but you need the right kdz for your phone. There is an Instructions.docx inside. Have you tried the official LG Flash Tool, I believe it has a repair option.
But you are loosing recovery and root. There are also some posts in the help forum how to flash your phone

First, backup your existing TouchWizCalendar.apk and TouchWizCalendar.odex to somewhere else then remove them and replace with the attached TouchWizCalendar.apk, reboot.

VZW Tab - Calendar
Hey guys, I backed up my calendar.apk , and odex, and then deleted them and installed the new touchwiz calendar.apk It didnt work(which is ok) I then deleted touchwiz calendar.apk , and odex , and replaced it with the original calendar.apk and odex, and rebooted my system. My calendar is still showing up with no wood border, and whenever i try to access "calendars(in order to choose which calendars I want to display) it force closes. Can anyone help me out, maybe send me all the original apk's and odex files for calendar?
[email protected]
I don't know if Buzz mentioned on his first post, but the file posted most likely will only work on GSM tabs. The CDMA tabs (Sprint/Verizon) seem to have different framework files so both the modified Calendar and Contacts apks posted won't work. I asked one individual to send me the framework files from his Sprint tab but haven't heard back. If you'd like to volunteer your framework files and your calendar.apk and .odex, I can probably deodex them for you and put BF's modified pngs into it.
Does your Verizon tab have different calendar apps installed? The GSM-based ones have just TouchWizCalendar.apk/odex, but you mention a Calendar.apk/odex?
Hi,
Just wanting to say, mod is awesome - clean and simple
Just curious though - have you simply removed/replaced the images in the apks or have there been other tweaks..?
Having noticed that the Dialer pane in Contacts, Launcher, Mail and Camera don't scale as screen density increases. Would altering these apps so that they scale be do-able?
Thanks
Craig

Region doesn't matter.
How: e.g. contacts.apk
open contacts.apk with winrar, and u will see inside some folders.
All image files are always in res folder. U can unzip res folder to desktop and inside res folders are subfolders like drawable, drawable-hdpi...
there u have all images from apk. Im sure u know how to see image size and image formats (jpg, png..)
Than check what do u want to change, take one of your pics, resize it to same size, rename in same name as original and replace with existing one. Easy...
After editing just put new image back into folder in rar.
Navigate to eg. drawable-hdpi in winrar and put inside new image. Winrar will be auto replace file with new one.
Sure, first create backup of your original apk...in case you do something wrong.
hum.. I wasn't that careful, and just moved the original apk elsewhere and replaced with your apk.
Of course it didn't work, calendar didn't show in the applications drawer.
I replaced with the original but it force closes every 2mn, and still do not show in the app drawer.
Any tip?
I would like to avoid having to reflash my tab just for that...

EDIT :
finally reflashed my rom (non wipe so no trouble), made a proper backup and try again but still the same problem...
at least I could restore my calendar backup this time

There might be some differences in the framework files for JMI that MCR uses vs. say Roto's JMIv2. I used the modded Contacts and Calendar from JME on my new JMIv2 install and it works just fine.
If you'd like to upload your stock MCR TouchWizCalendar.apk I can compare it to the one from JME and see what needs to be changed.

P.S.: this is not created/modified by me, I had found it while browsing on the other Android forums @ XDA but I cant recollect from which thread I downloaded this...

there are landscape and portrait versions... i prefer the landscape one
[2] Lock Screen [works on CM6/ CM7 mods, DOESNOT work with 2.1]
This is from: Lockscreen Mod for CM7 (Honeycomb Wannabe Lockscreen) by bizdady
all credit goes to him, great job dude!!!
please read the first post of that thread completely before proceeding
for this lockscreen u will need a few thigs:
*** if you dont know how to push/pull files from device visit the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842060
A) Clock font
Download the attached file "honeycomb_lockscreen_clockfont.zip" place it on the root of ur SDCARD and flash it via xRecovery, reboot...
B) "Lock" button
{Method 1} Automated (havent tried this myself by is suggested by the OP of that thread)
To get the lock follow the part on "Metamorph Instructions" given in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959602 thread and for X10...
If your not sure about which version your phone uses just use Astro or any other file manager and take a look at your /system/framework-res.apk file. Browse file the file and navigate over to the /res folder and you will see a drawable folder with either hdpi or hdpi-v4. Proceed to download whichever version your rom uses.
incase its HDPI the d/l this file: http://www.mediafire.com/file/vchfnuiekvi3syi/Honeycomb_Lock_HDPI.zip...
incase its HDPI-v4 the d/l this file: http://www.mediafire.com/file/7tqgs778yeawbqm/Honeycomb_Lock_HDPI-v4.zip
further instructions are given in above mentioned thread.
{Method 2} Manual-round-about-way (this is what I followed and works on FreeX10-Beta4+CM6 settings; should also work on CM7)
1> pull the file "framework-res.apk" from the /system/framework/ of ur current ROM, and make a copy of this file as a backup incase something goes wrong
2> extract the contents of the "Honeycomb_Lock_HDPI.zip" file stated above into another folder on ur computer. u will the get the following folders: framework-res\res\drawable-hdpi & framework-res\res\drawable-land-hdpi
3> open the "framework-res.apk" which you got from step 1 in WinRAR http://www.rarlab.com/ (this is wht i used), browse to framework-res.apk\res\ within WinRAR and copy the contents from the folders u got from step 2 to into the corresponding folders, i.e. files from framework-res\res\drawable-hdpi (or hdpi-v4) into framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi (or hdpi-v4) and files from framework-res\res\drawable-land-hdpi (or hdpi-v4) into framework-res.apk\res\drawable-land-hdpi (or hdpi-v4), within winrar window [while adding the files winrar will through up a window titled "Archive name and parameters" in this MAKE SURE THAT THE COMPRESSION METHOD IS CHANGED IT TO "STORE", after that click OK, the files will be replaced/added to the apk file]
4> once all files have been replaced, push the modified "framework-res.apk" to /system/framework/ on ur device. [they phone may reboot, but thats normal no need to panic]
* Incase either of these methods dont work just post ur framework-res.apk file here and i will do the necessary modifications n post it back...
Enjoy the Honeycomb look for your LockScreen!!!
Heres a flashable zip of the clock font only.

I'm on Free X10 beta 4, CM 6 (something). And lockscreen isn't applied with metamorph. It's just saying applying theme, but nothing happens.
When I tried to apply lockscreen manually, phone restarts and at some point bootscreen hangs, green led stays on and phone vibrates continiusly - so it's bricked.
I did get to recover system files with xrecovery.
But my question is, do I have to apply CM 7? Isn't there a way to use it on CM 6 or is this baseband problem, because my baseband version is 55.
I understanded that it works with CM 6 too.
Sorry for my bad English.

1stly i myself havent tried the Metamorph method...
manual method doesnt work? thats odd.. cause i am myself using FreeX10-beta4 + CM6 settings (on baseband 2.1.55) and manual way works flawlessly... sorry that ur device got bricked @ boot...
no no u dont need to apply CM7 (thats based on GB, a totally diff OS version 2.3.x)... it should work on CM6...
do one thing since u have got ur current system running just pull the framework-res.apk file from /system/framework/ and post it here (use some compression software, e.g.: winrar)... i will modify it and post it back...
btw did the clock font atleast change? and wht abt the bootscreen?
Clock font worked flawlessly, bootscreen I haven't tried.
Btw I pulled framework-res.apk with root explorer. Framework-res.apk is in attachment.

do u have a X10 (came preinstalled with 2.1) or X10 HD (came preinstalled with 2.1)?
I'm using zdzihu 's Free X10 Beta 4 rom and CM 6 (I think it was CM-6.1.3-V4, but I'm not sure).
My X10i came with preinstalled 1.6.

i think i figured out the problem... the framework-res.apk which u posted is HDPI-v4 based as compared to HDPI (for which the link was posted in main post)... if u want to try the Metamorph method again try it with this file: HDPI-v4: http://www.mediafire.com/file/7tqgs778yeawbqm/Honeycomb_Lock_HDPI-v4.zip
anyways i had modified it to work for ur framework-res.apk... its attached here...
let me know if it works...
Yeah, I know that I need HDPI-v4. And I tried with HDPI-v4 metamorph - it didn't work. I tried with HDPI too and it didn't work either.
I'm gonna try your modifyed framework.
Your modifyed framework didn't work too. Again it just hanged in bootscreen. And again I restored to same point.

Give it a go then. Personally I hate 3rd party lockscreen apps as there is always that 1 sec lag for me, I have no knowledge of this app but it looks like another theme. Doubt you can move it around like the real honeycomb lock.
I tryed this app. There is a privew from honeycomb. You can move it around, but clock keeps moving around too. And if I press 2x back button, it just goes to homescreen. So it's too buggy.
And I don't really like 3rd party lockscreen too. So i sick with your lockscreen. It's really good looking.

Confirmed to be working on stock, odexed LSZ.
One needs to remeber to manually remove three relevant .odex files from /system/app/ and then flash the zip from recovery (zip only replaces apk files).
I suppose that it should also work on LM5 if you'll remember to remove the odex files before flash.
THANK YOU, OP!

Ok I really have to say this: Google!
Ok guys I thought I'd share how I installed this widget. It looks far more pleasing to the eye, than the old widget.
Also....in doing so I noticed something interesting...
1. download & extract files to a folder.
2. copy AccuWeatherWidget_Main.apk (preload/symlink/system/app)
3. paste to System/app and ensure permissions are set to = rw-r--r--
4. copy AccuWeatherDaemon.apk and AccuWeatherWidget.apk (system/app)
5. paste to System/app and permissions = rw-r--r--permissions = rw-r--r--
6. go to "settings - application manager - all" and in Weather Widget Main, clear data.
7. Remove old widget from your homescreen. Reboot phone, and then place widget back on homescreen.
The interesting observation was that, sometimes the apk files would not copy across. In ES file explorer the message was something like "file was not successfully copied". But if I tried again 2 mins later, I might get a different message. "File copy successful".
There doesn't appear to be any logical reason as to why I can successfully copy & paste apk's sometimes, but other times I can't.
Has anyone else experienced this behaviour?
edit - I am on BurtROM LSZ. I have no idea what "odexed" or "deodexed" means. But I can't find any .odex files in the /system/app/ folder.
Just install it on XXLSZ_Stock_deodexed_rooted_eybee1970.zip via recovery, work perfect.
Many thank's

This is great!
Thanks for the animation I do like it a lot. I will put it in my phone as soon as I get a chance.
Will report back if it works.:good:
It does work and it is flashable via CWM (not directly but easily) !
I'm S-off, SuperCID, Bootloader Unlocked and Rooted. Running JB
I got the Cricket version of the One SV and I'm trying to get a boot animation working that I made. After I got together the images I wanted I figured I would follow the same folder tree and named them the same as what was in the original boot animation. I also made a sound to replace the original one. I used winrar on normal compression and copied it over to my sd card. I backed up my original and copied and overwritten the original one. I also did the same with the sound. Renaming both after the ones they are replacing. After replacing both files I restarted my phone. The sound I replaced played during the original shutdown animation so I took that as a good sign. But when the phone restarted it was just a black screen the sound didn't even play. Does anyone know how i can fix this. Thanks In advance.

The bootanimation thing is a little bit tricky. It took me also many tries to get it sorted out, but 7zip did the trick for me.
As for cricket: if somebody will upload a system dump or a cwm backup (only system) i will see what i can do.

I used Photoshop Elements, but every photosoftware should do it.
You need the font installed on your pc, choose it in the photosoftware (must look at my pc, how its the name). Now draw out with black color (only) the parts you want to overwrite. Now go to writing. Pick up the color of the font and choose the right size. Write the text, you wanna write and some of the text at the left or the right. Then move the text in the position. Use the text at the left or the right to get it in its position.
Do this with every picture.

To install:
Grab AppleColorEmoji.ttf and place it into /system/fonts/
Set /system/fonts/AppleColorEmoji.ttf to have permissions 644 (rw-r--r--) and owner:group root:root.
Modify /system/etc/fonts.xml like so:
Find
Code:
<family>
<font weight="400" style="normal">NotoSansSymbols-Regular-Subsetted.ttf</font>
</family>
Above this block, add
Code:
<family>
<font weight="400" style="normal">AppleColorEmoji.ttf</font>
</family>
Set /system/etc/fonts.xml to have permissions 644 (rw-r--r--) and owner:group root:root.
Reboot.
(Thanks cclaxx for mentioning permissions!)
Old stuff:
Not sure if this has been done before, but here is my work.
Screenshots (warning: large)
You get my point. They work the same way KitKat's colour emojis work.
What I did:
Asked someone (jakew02 on #cyanogenmod-dev) to help me grab Apple Color Emoji.ttf off an OS X 10.9 system.
Used code available here to extract the PNG files from the TTF file's SBIX table.
Used fonttools (ttx) to create an empty TTF file based on the original Apple Color Emoji.ttf and this template by Google
Used this code by Google to add the extracted PNGs into the empty TTF file in CBDT/CBLC (the OpenType extension Google created) tables
Took the resulting TTF file and threw it into /system/fonts/, modifying /system/etc/fallback_fonts.xml accordingly
And it works. This is unlikely to work on versions of Android pre-KitKat, unless support for CBDT/CBLC tables in font files is present (or backported from KitKat).
Update: No need to do all this anymore. Later versions of Android support sbix out of the box. Just adjust the platEncID/platformID in the cmap of AppleColorEmoji.ttf.
The font size and kerning (all the emojis are the same size!) doesn't seem all that great, but someone who knows fonts better can fix that using ttx. If anyone wishes to create a flashable zip for this, please do so.
Update: I've updated this for the iOS 9.1/unicorn emoji. Details here
Update: ligatures (mostly) now work. details
Thank Google for deciding to implement colour emoji (and releasing their tools for creating those fonts too!) in KitKat, because they essentially did all the work.
Looked for it great
How did you do the fourth step?
im running windows and couldnt launch it.
I want to port Touchwiz Smileys to KitKat.
Those looking best :fingers-crossed:
Use Python 2.7.
I did this all on Linux, so I'm not sure if this can be done on Windows or not. But since all the tools are written in Python, I'd imagine that it can with minimal effort.

Firstly, BIG THANKS to Angelsel, FusionAlex and cclaxx!
If you don't want to use the zip, simply download it and then extract the files (TTF and XML) out of the /etc and /fonts directories.
Summary of instructions:
1. Backup your fallback_fonts.xml file on your phone (found at: /system/etc/fallback_fonts.xml)
2. Copy the new fallback_fonts.xml into the /system/etc/ directory.
3. Set fallback_fonts.xml's file permissions to rw-r--r--
4. Copy the AppleColorEmoji.ttf into the /system/fonts/ directory. (Don't worry about overwriting anything, because this is a new file, it doesn't overwrite any of your other fonts).
5. Set AppleColorEmoji.ttf's file permissions to rw-r--r--
6. Reboot your phone.
7. Enjoy
The reason you don't have to overwrite any actual fonts is because the fallback_fonts.xml has been amended to look at the new (AppleColorEmoji.ttf) font before checking the standard android ones.

Well I'm not sure. It's possible that it won't even flash because I might have done something wrong. In fact it should of course be reversible because the only thing it's supposed to do is copy the 2 files and fix the permissions of them. Still I'd rather have someone who knows how those zips work take a look at it before someone tries it, because I don't have any experience
EDIT:
I took another look at some more recent flashable zips and changed some stuff again. I also decided to upload the unsigned zip in case someone wants to edit the zip and sign it
http://ge.tt/8kOOWOB1?c
EDIT 2:
OK, I think, that my zip would also work, but I found an app called ZIPme and created a flashable zip with it. It works perfectly (I just tested it on my phone)
So finally:
Enjoy this flashable zip of this amazing mod:

PS. If some experienced DEV could take a look at my original zip tho and told me if i did everything right I would still be happy

Ge.tt and Amazon S3 seems to hate me. I can't download your original zip.
The second zip will work fine, but there is no need to set permissions - extract_dir's default permissions (and file ownership) are already correct. This zip sets the owner/group to 1000/1000 (system, iirc) which is not correct; the files should be owned by root (uid/gid 0, naturally).
Thanks for creating a flashable zip
