Other ways to S-OFF besides using Juopunutbear - HTC Sensation

My HBOOT version is 1.27. For some reason I can't seem to successfully get passed installing the required stock Sense ROM that Juopunutbear requires. Is there any other possible way for to S-OFF if I am on a Kit Kat ROM? Any tools that can S-OFF?
Forgot to add that I am HTC Dev unlocked.

No you need to relock your bootloader to flash RUU , but don't worry after you s-off you will flash 3.33 firmware and that will ulock you bootloader and after that flash recovery and do what you wanna do..
Btw why do you need to s-off?

I mainly just want to update to firmware 3.33 Universal (found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767). Can you link me to an RUU that will allow me to S-OFF. I am also assuming that there is no other way to S-OFF besides using Juopunutbear's method?

You can't flash a custom firmware while s-on (it's the reason htc named this state s-on). There's simply no way unless you can pull off JTAG and sh**.
You can get 3.33.xxx.xxx via RUU (only after locking bootloader), but you can't flash 3.33 universal otherwise. If you want to switch carriers, you gotta s-off man.

you can also use the flashable stock rom to install it from recovery

by the way what recovery do you have and why you can't flash the stock rom?

[Q] Back to stock for OTA updates with SuperCID ?

First thing's first - I'm definitely not a newb.
My phone (Sensation 4G on T-Mobile USA) is depended upon for work and person use. I've been playing with a lot of custom ROMs and each and every one of them has their own little quirks.
Because of this I have seriously considered going back to stock, but I want to be sure that I can receive OTA updates.
I realize that I can get everything back to stock via RUU, HOWEVER, with SuperCID in place, would I still be able to receive OTA updates? I've read that the RUU doesn't replace the SuperCID with the shipped value.
If not, how would I get the SuperCID back to the original value (which unfortunately I don't have - phone was bought used and already rooted) ?
Thanks so much!
You can get the OTA with superCID the RUU will unroot your phone and reinstall the stock recovery. You will need the stock recovery or you could Brock your phone
If you want to be on the safe side and rewrite your cid do the steps you did to get superCID but instead of 11111111 put T-MOB010 That should get you back on track

I can download OTA from server but after download finish it will not install with the error about variant system (means we modified software).

Are you sure for this? From what I know IF you install stock ROM from RUU, it will automatically unroot the phone, get back to S-On and of course replace your bootloader with the original one. However to be honest I don't know what happens if you install stock from clockwork recovery - maybe that way the bootloader will not be replaced and you will still have S-Off and root.
TO JWhipple: The Super CID shouldn't matter for RUU. However you could always change it back to your phone/operator version before installing RUU.
@up: not in Sensation. After installing stock with RUU, S-OFF will remain still. To get S-ON back follow this guide. I'm sure, tested on my own Sensation
What would be the right order to go with:
Do you start with changing the SuperCID back to the original one forst or would you first have to go back to S-ON?
SIMPLY TELL ME ONE THING
that can we have official update after installing the latest ruu with s-on and unroot but with super cid?????
thanks
---------- Post added at 10:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:20 AM ----------
installing stock ruu doesnt change the phone to s-on or unroot.......but see the guide to do s-on then u might get the official updates
The ruu simply changes your rom to stock unrooted, changes radio, recovery and hboot. It doesn't change stuff like cid and s-off. In theory you can get ota updates with supercid and s-off. The only thing required, would be the stock recovery

Quick question, a few guides to going back to stock Sensation point or that you have to downgrade the firmware and radio. Is downgrading the radio (and firmware for that matter) necessary before flashing stock ROM with RUU? I did it with the last sensation before sending it in for warranty replacement, but only because the guide suggested it. But next time I wouldn't do it if I don't have to. Thanks ahead.

No it is not necessary. It will be required only if your device is S-ON and RUU version is older. Just remeber that if your phone is S-OFF and you want to put it S-ON again, do that after you have flashed stock ROM.

[Q] Is there a RUU for HBOOT 1.27.1100

Ok this will be my last post here cause I don't want to hyjack this thread.
This has brought a question to mind and I will have to see if I can find the answer some how. The question is what does Hboot use to flash the PG58IMG.zip. I personally have always thought it used recovery to flash the file.

It uses the bootloader to flash the file. If you put it on your sd card and reboot into bootloader (volume down button + power button) you will be asked to update. Choose yes using the volume buttons and the file will be flashed, easy as that

Hboot 1.27 is clearly ICS.
Download official RUU from here (RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_246089_signed)
This is the latest official ICS RUU for unbranded Europe Sensation.
If your device is branded or your region is not Europe then search for the appropriare RUU.
Run the exe from pc with phone usb plugged. It will restore your phone as "out of the box".
Hope it helped.
Man I really don't understand any of this lol......... I'm just gonna ask a few questions and you guys can either respond or not....
1) I am on stock ICS, rooted, with HTC Dev Unlocked and using Clockwork. If I wanted to un-root, remove clockwork and re-lock the Hboot... How would that go exactly? 1.27.0000 etc...
2) I don't understand why getting S-Off is so difficult. If one would simply downgrade from ICS to GB, wouldn't that change the Hboot version to a lower one, and then you would be able to use the Revolutionary way? Or is that not possible to do? Or does the downgrade not affect the Hboot?
3) Which Custom ROM am I able to flash at the moment? Any, based on ICS?

Hi,
1. I think that you can just run the RUU in the post above yours.(If your phone is European)
2.Downgrading is not possible on hboot 1.27.000
HTC have locked you out of this possibility.
3.As you say.Any 3.32. based ICS ROM.

It can be done only by running corresponding RUU which can be found based on your firmware(in your case it is 3.32) and cid (to get cid "fastboot getvar cid")...if you are unbranded i.e. cid is HTC__001..then you can run the above mentioned ruu...or else you should get the appropriate one...if you can't find it then post your cid along with radio..we can find the appropriate one for you

If you are S-ON you can't downgrade...not by running a RUU or by flashing firmware directly...that's why people use revolutionary first to get soff and then they'll flash unlocked firmware to update the hboot and all...
It you are SOFF you can literally do anything ..upgrade, downgrade..its your choice..

If it's HTC boot logo then there are 2 ways first it is with the ruu and the other is unlock your bootloader on htcdev website and flash custom recovery , in your case with s-on I suggest 4ext recovery with smart flash enabled and just flash a custom Rom with 4ext
S-ON
Vipers 1.6.3
4ext recovery
turbo boost cache swap
Sultan Kernel r14.5

You don't need to update hboot to install custom ROMs.
RUU is recommended for some ROMs, as it seems to help with random reboots on some ROMs. But RUU is not strictly required.
Everything you will likely ask for is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Device will return to stock recovery when you RUU. But now sure why you are asking for that.

Everything you will likely ask for is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Device will return to stock recovery when you RUU. But now sure why you are asking for that.

You are not getting my main point. There is no reason you need to update hboot. Why do you think you need to?

Agree. Follow advice above to flash latest RUU (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37227608 ), and re-flash recovery . You will get a newer hboot along with that, but other elements of the RUU are more beneficial to some of the newer ROMs - hboot won't give you anything by itself.Make sure you are S-OFF before RUU or you may brick.

[HELP] s-off with locked bootloader

hi everyone. my sensation is getting me angry for a few week. i can't flash roms or others using fastboot commands cause my device is s-off, but i still have the bootloaader locked. from the command prompt i always obtain the same message "writing boot...failed(remote: not allowed)". first at all, i unlocked my device using HTCdev, after i flashed my first rom i found the bootloader locked. second, i tried to turn my device s-off, but controlbaer crashed, so i didn't complete it, but hovewere i'm s-off. how can it be ??? at now, can i flash roms or other .zip just by recovery (4ext) ?? or how can i unlock again the bootloader ??? hope somebody give me an answer. :good:
If you are S-Off and even that the boot loader is locked there should be no problem to install ROM - via 4ext

Hi,
Look HERE
Second post.
Try flashing this:
HBoot 1.27.1100 Patch (Go from Hboot 1.29.0000 to 1.27.1100)
This should give you an unlocked bootloader.

Hi,
I am not sure what to suggest.
People who flash this are normally locked and hboot 1.29
It works for them,so it should work for you
I do not think it would do any harm.
Or perhaps you could flash the 1.27 > 1.29 version first.
Then, go 1.29 > 1.27
How did your bootloader become locked?

When you say you have 1.27 do do you mean a patched one? Besides, @malybru posted a patched one.
You could try unlocking your bootloader (i am not sure, but this may cause brick).
JAM THAT THANKS BUTTON.
Happy to help.
I have 1.29 after flashing new radio and s-off and there is no problem using 4ext for flashing any zip so far

Flashing a rom via recovery shouldn't change bootloader status. Either you flashed a new firmware, or did an ruu.
Besides, a patched hboot should enable fastboot commands.
