[Q] Atrix 2 soft brick - Motorola Atrix 2

Hi all,
I have an Atrix 2, where the phone wont boot up without a charger. And even if its connected with charger, it only boot to motorola logo, and shows battery level before goes completely blank.
I heard flashing the firware again using RSD lite, with phone connected to PC with fast boot mode will fix this, but I can't disconnect the charger from the phone, and booting the phone while its connected to USB wont work.
I can boot into the OS when going to bptools in recovery mode tho. Can any one help?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there, thanks for replying. As I mentioned in my first post, my phone wont boot up when connected to the PC. It can only boot when connected to the wall charger. So I cant really flash it using RSD Lite. Is there anyway to work around this problem? When in fast boot mode (and connected with wall charger), it says battery low cannot program. Does this means something?

in the youtube video..it's mention that you must have about 60% battery or above so fast_boot will tell you "battery OK" but in your case you've a low battery that's why fast_boot tells you "battery low".
The only solution to recharge it is to take battery off from phone and charge it using another atrix or a generic battery wall socket or any other method as phone itself will never charge the battery in Soft Brick...
.
Don't worry I had the same issue before but I used a small trick to charge my battery..I've an Arduino board "small development board" came with an adapter 7V 1amp so I take 2 wires from the arduino and connect that adapter "inner is + and outer is -" to the battery "look at the battery back it's mention where is + and where is -" and waited for an hour then put battery back in phone and enter fast_boot mode then voila! it said battery OK which means it has been charged successfully then FXZ normally.
Note: be sure to connect positive+ at adapter to positive+ at battery and same connect negative- to negative- DON'T reverse the signs.

As he says you are going no where if you dont have at least 60% battery charge, to make sure better be fully charge. Or your risk to hard-brick your phone.

charging battery without OS

Hi,
Can somebody tell me how to charging the battery when there is no
OS on the PPC.
I need a full battery to upgrade or flash a rom version on the PPC.
With a low battery it gives error when i want to flash a rom on the PPC.
Plz. help me.
Thnx,
Alfa156 :?:
Why not just connect it to the external power?
Flashing is always safest whilst connected to a power supply.

Also, you can charge battaries from USB by mini-USB cable. OS does not needed to charge.
Hi XShell,
What do you meen with charchinging with the mini USB?
I have tried with the USB cable from my MDA connected with yhe desktop
and i tried the battery charger with the adapter and the mini USB connector at the other end, and both methods doesn't works.
Normally you get a orange led when it's charging the battery but both method it's not burning.
So please tell me what you meen.
Thnx,
Alfa156
Here's the way to charge battery directly from charger.
This method was invented by Jasse from PDAclub.pl, BIG THANKS to him
Scheme is in the attachment. You need some charger, it must be between 3-6v. Cut off the plug, then connect red cable to minus, and black/white or other to plus. Hold the cables in that position for 2-3 minutes then try to flash. Remember: If battery will get too hot disconnect it immidietly.
YOU DOING THIS AT YOU OWN RISK
Hi J-A-J-O,
How must i hold the battery?
Should i hold it with the text up or down?
Thnx,
Alfa156
Here's the 3d painting Now every thing is clear.
Seems like your charge controller is dead...
And flashing ROM wouldn't help, i think.
Btw , since allways , Red = + and Black = -
Perhaps someone is reinventing the electronic way
of electrons working???
Cheers

Actually, I think the OS has to be present to allow charging. I noticed mine wouldn't charge until everything was fully operational when I was updating my ROM. The lack of charging capability is one reason the guides say to fully charge the magician before attempting a ROM upgrade.
Hi J-A-J-O,
I think the reply that red is plus and the black is minus is correct in the standard electricity.
I also tried to charged the bat directly with a adapter both in two ways
I meen that the plus and minus i have switched it but both way i didn't get any results.
So anyone please help me.
Thnx,
Alfa156
You should try to charge battarie in other Magician (from friend or others).
I also have charged in both ways, but black - minus, red - plus is 100% correct, I already change it on my pic. When I finnaly turn my magician on, the battery was charged in 90% so this method works. You can try to hold cables longer example for 5 minutes, but disconnect when battery will get warm
You still can't turn device on, you can try my method with battery cover

Try wall charger if you are on USB charging, secondly you can have a charger of higher capacity to draw more current.
Tried wall charger, laptop and desktop but same result. How and where to get High capacity charger?

Try getting higher Amp rating charger.
There is one more interesting trick you can do, keep pressing power button before connecting charger (your phone won't boot as battery is dead) then connect charger but keep pressing your power button. Let it go after like 1 minute approximately. Hopefully by then it will have enough charge.
Put your phone in recovery ... charge fr a bit and reboot phone via recovery ... worked for me a couple of times ...

Fastboot Failure

I forgot to wipe and pressed reboot by mistake and the phone would stay up after the boot animation so tried flashing via rsd but its getting failed at 1/19.device is saying low battery transfer cannot be done---in the fast boot mode ...Any help
Your safest bet is to take the battery to a store that sells Motorola phones and see if they have an old ATrix 2 or Bionic that they can use to charge your battery or some kind of universal charger to charge your battery. You could also try to find someone with an Atrix 2 or Bionic so they could do the same. There are instructions out there for a ghetto USB charger were you cut the USB cable off of an old USB mouse (or other device) and connect the red and black wires to the positive and negative (marked on battery) leads on the battery. I don't recommend that method, but it works. Or you could just buy a new battery and hope it has enough charge.
hi...
i had a similar issue...
i went to the service center and told(basically lied ) that my phone died when i was doing a factory reset.
they took the phone and installed GB 2.3.6 and gave it back to me.
i also remember them telling that they have a universal charger. you can ask for that.

J700p Fixable or Dead?

So a coworker asked me to help out with his phone, said someone failed a flashing or something, ok cool I can check it out for ya...
Wont turn on unless plugged into a wall charger.
Wont charge on pc usb, battery screen loops when on wall charger, can power on while on wall charger but is bootlooping samsung boot screen and can get into download mode but that is it.
Cant connect to pc since it dies as soon as wall charger is unplugged.
I have tried leaving it on the charger for 12 hours, tried it in battery screen and download mode, wont power on without being on the wall charger...
Idk what to do guys, I'm decent at flashing things and tweaking with stuff, but this one has me stumped. I got the stock files for it ready to flash, just gotta find a way to be able to have it power on when connected to my PC
It is a sm-j700P boost mobile.
Any advice would be nice, thanks.

Have you tried replacing the battery?

Phone won't charge Help !!

My phone won't charge, Help !
My phone is Xiaomi Mi Mix
I bought the phone like 1 year ago
So I tried to clean the port
Change cables
Change power brick
Change power source
Still ..... The phone won't charge
However, if I plug the charger when the phone is turned off it will charge.
Then of course I turn back the phone to use it.
But when I unplug then replug the charger when the device is on, it won't charge again.
So Everytime I want to charge, i need to turn off the phone first
What happen to my phone ??

I've had this problem before, it's a problem with the USB connector's fork (the thing that goes in the phone).
Here's from the article i read when i researched about it:
Often the issue is the small metal connector in the USB port, which may be slightly bent in a way that means it doesn’t make proper contact with the charging cable.
To fix this, switch your phone off, and remove the battery if you can. Then take a pin or something similar in size and straighten the small tab inside the USB port on your phone. Make sure you’re not too rough with this process – you could end up doing more damage than good. Then, put your battery back in, power on your device, and try charging again.
