[Q] Cyanogenmod Windows Installer don't work fine - General Questions and Answers

I installed the Cyanogenmod Windows tool under Win7 and Win8.1. Installation will proceed and there comes a message that the program can now be used. But I find nowhere in the system a bit to start it.
In CCleaner, it is listed, also in the Control Panel under Programs and Features. The Start menu is not available and also in the installation directories, I find nothing. I also get no result when searching for 'cm installer'.
I have tried this on two different computers. Once with Win7 b4bit VS, and once Win8.1 64bit VS .. In both cases the same result.
Can anyone help me?
Tanks in advance,
Dag

[SOLVED] Android SDK Updater on OpenSuSE 11.2: Not able to get a platform

Alright, since my google search returned the whole 2 (two!) relevant results, and the search here around 10 irrelevant, I thought I'd drop this on the community, in hope for some help.
I've upgraded my 64bit OpenSuSE to 11.2 the other day, downloaded the Android SDK, set up the environment variables, and fired up the "android" script that is supposed to download and install a platform, so I could access my device through adb shell.
Here I ran into a problem: Half of the buttons I click in the SDK updater don't seem to work, it will not save the settings, it will not remember the URL I type in (had to use http), and when it reads the http repo, it will not download and install what I have cheked! What happens is, I click the button, it appears to stick down for a while, then pops back up as if I never clicked it, and nothing happens.
My first question is, has anybody tried this on SuSE 11.2? I have had no problems on 11.1, for instance.
Second, does this need any "special" Java configuration to work properly? I have tried both the openJava (now built-in into SuSE), and Sun Java latest (SDK and JRE). I don't think so, but asking just in case...
I'm pretty much stuck. If anyone has this working, or better yet, if anyone knows where I could download platforms outside of the updater, please be so kind and share. Thank you!
P.S. Oh, and the optional third question: Is there a way to trigger the download from console? That would probably help to figure out what goes wrong...
EDIT: Not Java problem, but updater problem. It does not show any of the SDKs, it shows only APIs, which can only be added if a valid SDK exists.
Can anyone confirm this?
It seems I need an external link to SDK 1.6 for Linux (for example). Can't anyone share?
Thanks!
Still stuck...
EDIT2: Solved it, my adb works again. But the updater app is crap I installed the APIs, then shut it down, rebooted, then ran it again. Also, for some reason the buttons wouldn't respond to clicks, but if I click and then push Enter key, it works. Took me a while to figure this one out.
Hey, I'm getting ready to install Android SKD on openSUSE 11.2 from scratch. Could you list your steps and/or suggestions based on how you got it working? Thanks.
How did it go?? Sry, just saw this...
Don't have time to do the steps.. actually, everything works just as the standard procedure suggests, with the exception of button clicks - as I said, each time I clicked a button, I had to press the Enter key (as if the click was just giving it focus, but not the actual command)
Feel free to PM me (or any other user), especially if the thread is a bit old, like this one.

HTC SYnc Windows 2003 Drivers

Greets all,
Mod, Sorry if this is in the wrong place, please move if need be, I did a search cause I was having trouble installed the drivers for the HTC Sync for the android, and since I was able to manage to get it installed, I thought if anyone else wasnt able to or if it wasnt found yet, I got it working for the HD2 "Motoman234 EVO Carbon Remix" Android.
Now it shouldnt matter and should work on all Androids but had to throw that in there just in case.
This is for Windows 2003 server (Instructions), but should work on other OS's:
1) Download the newest HTC Sync: 3.0.5481.
2) Run the installer, it will load many things as a requirement.
3) 2 Installer will fail: Windows Media Runtime 11 & USB Drivers. On both it will ask you if you want to continue to install, say yes.
4)Once installed, connect your phone, Windows will locate it and say new hardware found "ADB" Do not allow windows to search for the driverss, it wont find them, instead download the file from my post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9719661&postcount=2
5)Unzip the folder, and make windows look in that folder, it might ask you if you should install it, say yes, once installed, your HTC Sync is fully functional to sync whatever you want.
Hope this helps anyone having trouble with Windows 2003, or any other version. And if this was solved already, my apologies, just trying to help.
I've been looking for 2003 drivers ever since I got my HTC Desire back in March. Will give this a go later and see how I get on.
I can confirm that the above procedure works fine. Many thanks
thanks you very much
good, I try and success!

[Solved] MTP for WinXP - A service installation section in this INF is invalid

Hi All,
I just tried to connect my TF101 to an old WinXP box and got the error above when installing the driver from the Asus site, the solution after looking here was to install the Microsoft User Mode Driver Framework for WinXP here. I think this fix applies to all android devices but I figured it was worth a post if it saves some TF users from a long search.
Thank you for this, helped me fix it after searching around for 2 hours!
thanks heaps
You are a legend. Samsung should put this on their site. I couldnt get my Samsung Galaxy S II to connect, installing the Framework and then uninstall and driver and plug phoneback in then worked.
WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!
POST THIS IN SAMSUNG WEBSITE
This driver package solves the Error code 28
for MTP device as samgung, then it works in Kies.
Hey thanks for the info +1
Thanks it works
equal or better file already installed on this computer
I get the same INF error when I try to hook up my video camera. I tried to download the file but received a message stating that I already have an equal or better one already. Obviously that is not correct because it is not working.
I am lost and can no longer put my videos from Panasonic Mini DV on my computer.
Any chance anyone knows how I can fix this..thanks!!
Gigsee, what operating system are you experiencing this on?
The help above is specifically for WinXP, it *may* be applicable to Vista also but will certainly not apply for a Win7 box because the usb driver stack is totally different there.
You'll have to help me out by giving step by step instructions of what your clicking and what your seeing at the time to pinpoint your problem and please be very specific with the wording of any errors your seeing.
Reply with something like;
1- click start> settings > control panel > system.
2 - open device manager tab.
George
Hi George - Thank you for taking the time to try to help me. I have an HP that is running on Vista Home.
I have tried to add the video camera several ways. One way is to open Movie Maker and add video camera. I also just hook the video camera up to the computer. I've tried a USB cord and HP told me I needed an IEEE 1394 cord, but that made no difference. I've tried going through the control panel to cameras and adding a camera. No matter how I try, it always does the same thing:
1) I plug in the USB cord. I instantly get this message: USB Device Not Recognized.
2) Control Panel; Scanners & Cameras; Add Device
3) I am sent to the Welcome to the Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard
4) Next; I have the box asking me if I want to select the manufacturer from the list (only my old printer is on the list) or to select that I have the manufacturer's disk
5) Have Disk
6) Message says to the Insert manufactures installation disk, which I do. It asks me to copy manufacture's files from:
7) I hit browse and change drive to E (since that is my disk drive).
8) A list of 6 files come up. Acrobat Reader, DV Studio3, USBDriver, ArcSoft, G726, AUTORUN
9) The acrobat, dv studio, arc soft all upload correctly. When I hit the USB Driver, it takes me to another screen that says DRIVERS. At this point, the file name gets automatically filled in as "AUTORUN.INF" When I click "OPEN" I get AUTORUN.INF File not found. Check the file name and try again.
note: It used to be that when I hooked up the camera to the computer, It would automatically detect it and try to connect with it. It was then that I got the error above about "A Service Installation section in this INF is invalid." Now, it doesn't even let me get that far.
I hope I was descriptive enough..thanks so much for trying to help me!!
Patti
I had the same issue with ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 connecting to WinXPSP2. Solution worked immediately. Thanks to original poster.
confirmed fixed issue with samsung vibrant! thank you
Hi !
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH i777. I've been trying to connect it to my laptop ( now xp sp3 ) for a few weeks now.
I've tried almost everything :
-updated sp2 to sp3
-uninstall and reinstall drivers manually
-tried suggestions from android and xp forums : tried every connection mode, every usb port, code error 28 suggestions, .Net framework update , updated windows media player "mode", and some others ... even trying this Microsoft User Mode Driver Framework.
But no success. I've always had this annoying " A service installation section in this INF is invalid " message.
Until yesterday when I found this site and followed divadrummer 5 steps :
fixya.com/support/t221754-service_installation_section_in_inf
( as a knew member I cannot post outside links for a while - so you need to supplement the above line with the usual "stuff" like "www"
I've found the "inf" file in the windows hidden system.
Hope I could help .
Thank you very much!
Galaxy SII - MTP INF Issues
This is the EXACT issue I've been having. I'm thrilled to see it on XDA since I know there's so many competent people out there just brimming with eagerness to help me figure this out. (Or at least you're borderline willing)
Device: Samsung Galaxy SII Sprint SPH-D710 (i think)
OS: ICS
Computer: Dell Latitude d610
OS: XP SP3
As you know I connect my phone to the computer, it recognizes new hardware and attempts to install it. The only way to get the computer to recognize the phone in My Computer is by connecting as a digital camera and even then the VAST majority of my files are unavailable.
1. I installed the link provided by the original poster.
2. I uninstalled my phone by the device manager and in fact by removing the samsung phone drivers that I had earlier installed.
3. I then plugged my phone back into the computer.
4. I installed the Samsung drivers again
5. I allowed the "found new hardware to run its course.
6. I receive the attached screen shot with the error stating "An error occurred during the installation of your device. The required section was not found in the INF.
I have tried to follow the instructions above and I think the User Mode stuff sounds promising.
Next I attempted another fix at the link below:
fixya.com/support/t221754-service_installation_section_in_inf
The link had the following instructions: (Thanks Divadrummer)
"If the player is showing up in your Windows' Device Manager under "portable devices" with a yellow "!":
1.) Right-click the yellow "!" and choose "update driver".
2.) When given the option to connect to Windows Update, choose "no, not this time" and click next.
3.) Choose "Install from a specific location (advanced)" and click next.
4.) Choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and click next.
5.) Click the "Have Disk" button. Browse to C:\Windows\inf and choose the file marked "wpdmtp.inf"
I can't believe the generic players have such crappy support when so many people have this problem! I think the Windows file problem might be caused by "compressing old files" when you do a disk cleanup."
After doing as advised I found no wpdmtp.inf file. SO... I did what any amateur computer guy would do. I googled the file and downloaded it directly. I placed in in my INF directory and then tried to do step 5. I still experience the same error.
Suggestions and inquiries are welcome and encouraged.
Thank you in advance.
thanks

[Q] Bluestacks: After failed Root attempt, reinstall and reboot, BS hangs!

Hi all,
Tried to root bluestacks, latest install, yesterday, but it failed, couldn't get ADB to connect properly!
After uninstalling, cleaning up registry, rebooting, reinstalling bluestacks, it just hangs on loading screen, after starting Bluestacks!
Several reinstall attempts have been made, all to no avail, same thing: Bluestacks hangs, and won't even respond to ADB connection attempts!
Here's the BlueStacks.log: pastebin.com/gPkY9wLY
And the HyperVisor.log: pastebin.com/ebuYFE9K
Any help will be greatly appreciated, as i REALLY want to have Bluestacks running again WITHOUT having to reinstall WIN7-32bit all over again!
Thank You very much,
Gabriel Hansen
Bump
Bump!
I think it will take some further informations to spot the problem, sorry.
When your device is connected to your pc, look into the control panel in the device manager. Is there some kind of Android device in the Section USB-Controllers? If so, please check out it Properties and provide some of the detailed Driver Informations (Driver filenames and versions) and Vendor-ID and Device-ID, please. If you think that's too much of a hassle, you are able to download the Android SDK and just install Google's USB-Drivers, they should work in almost all cases. I would paste you a link, but i can't yet, sorry.
M00K00, thanks for your time, but i think you may have misunderstood a little....
Bluestacks is an Android EMULATOR, it is a 'software-phone', hence it cannot and is not regarded as a regular device, AFAIK!
I think the problem might be something with the Registry! I've tried cleaning out the registry searching for Bluestacks related entries, but so far to no avail!
BTW, you can always post a link, just post link WITHOUT the 'http:/' in front
Thanks again!

Windows RT 8.1 - Jailbreak Sign Tool

Hello Everyone,
I've written a small tool that allows you to sign a single file or a complete folder. See attachments. It is quick and dirty. If someone wants to improve it, there is the source attached also.
Please note that this tool will sign every exe and dll files in all sub folders if you select "Sign folder"!
Best of all: It also runs on Windows RT directly
Have fun!
[Removed]
Hmm it seems to have some issues with signing some binary exe files that had been previously compiled and worked on RT 8.0. I'm guessing this has to do with Release vs Debug ARM binaries?
hi guys can some one help i cant find how to jailbreak my surface Windows 8.1 rt

Hello, I know it's been a long time since this tool was made but would it be possible to add some kind of handler of errors to the signTool? It's becoming harder to use since programs are having more and more files and we have to close a little error message for every file otherwise the process is paused.
Even though this is pretty old post, thank you so much for this tool!
It took hours of trying to get .exes to work. The signtool.exe also didn't really work for me.
FINNAL IT WORKS!
There is an issue with this tool prompting you after every single file. I fixed it and also added some other minor things such as .sys file support. here it is
H, can anyone help me, I'm total noob, what is this signing? how do I sign this? I'm trying to have some apps works on the RT
