Apologies if this was asked earlier, but does anybody know what the process is to bypass the Verizon activation screen on the new HTC One M8?

Remove the sim, do not hit start for the set up. Hit the home button and press finish setup later.

Secondly, I noticed you can put the phone in airplane mode via the status bar which cause setup to ask you if you want to use WiFi.

nope. If you can sideload you can try Advanced Configuration Tool by Schaps.

yes, follow this thread. if you are on HTC currently the only way to get it unlocked is to roll back to NoDo restore if you have it. do some search next time and it's important that you include what device you have to be able to help you. if you are on Samsung or LG you can unlock according the the thread above.
I HAVE HTC but the only problem is that is half broken ... But thanks for your help

did a search with 0 results with an answer...so I had saved certain phone specific forums to my subscription page by right click and save, that option seems to be gone

I'd lik to change my XDA nickname. I see no option here. I do not want to open a new account, I woulmd then lose my past messages. Is there a solution?
My current nickname is shame: it refers to my old Windows phone, while I am 100% Android now.

Tried that and it stopped at :deamon started successfully and did nothing after that. what do I need to do to get to root?.

it takes a minute or two at that part, did you ensure that you had usb debugging on while you had it?

Yes usb debugging is on.

You can download androot and run it, or you could use unrevoked.

I did it and i do not know how but i got past the locked bootloader and rooted with busybox. and now have superuser permissions. I am very happy
after trying for days and nights and reading and trying again. so now it is working like i want it. so to all who helped me a big thank you. and to Google and Verizon a big FU. I rooted my VS840PP3 AND I AM BLOCKING THOSE ANNOYING ADS!!!!!!!!!!!. and will continue to erase and dismantle all the bull**** put on the phone. I will set it up to my liking not yours.

That's true, its been pretty hazy lately

I've seen the same on another device, asus memopad hd7 and the
site was weather forecast. Just minutes after I updated chrome. So
far, I assume it is just pop up.
