[Q] G Pro 2 (D838) 3rd party app can't save into external SD - LG G Pro 2

Well, I just received my LG G Pro 2 (D838) and it has Android 4.4.2 inside.
Somehow, I couldn't save the file which generated by 3rd party app into the external SD card.
I search the answer on web but the possible way to solve the problem is root the cellphone.
I am worrying that it couldn't process OTA update after I root the LG-D838
This is only disadvantage of D838 and this will be big help for me and other owners.
I am also expecting the 3rd party roms, such as AOKP or CM can be released soon^^
Can't wait to flash the phone with other roms

That is part of 4.4.2 it is on every phone... Google changed some things to not allow apps to write to external sd . according to Google app developers will have to update to new way and things will be fine.... But if you can root folder Mount in app store will fix it

I think the telecom is the one who's having the bar fo this thirf party app. You can try calling them to verify this.

Let me check on that. My folks may know some tricks on how this can be done. rooting the phone may do the trick.

It's the Google security working on 4.4.2
Solution is to root your phone and edit the platform.xml file or
Install xposed framework and the module handleexternalstorage, reboot and your good to go

Sure, I would like to root the phone and I did search the solution on the web.
Somehow, IORoot might be the solution but it's not support the LG D838 Taiwan Edition.
I tried the latest version this morning but it's not work...
May I should just wait until someone develop the proper rom for this device.

As I said you can edit platform.xml in the root of your device to allow media write or use the xposed framework module handleexternalstorage. These methods can only be done on a rooted device. Since the LG G Pro 2 is only out for a few days, wait for the proper rooting tool and procedure before doing so.

This isn't a bug. Google have mandated by CTS the permissions around external storage be tighter. Now there are only specific circumstances where an application can write to the external storage, like stock camera apps etc.

Thanks for clarifying that. I thought it was a bug in the built, as the GE kitkat rom had the same restriction on SGS4. I think this is a very crappy move from Google. Now, in order to store my podcasts on the sd card I have to root my phone, which conveniently voids my warranty. Freaking corporations and their restricting policies!

it's an additional permission that was added. Specific apps need an update to be able to write again to the SD Card. It's not something impossible... developers need to do their job updating what they already have in place.

You have to install it in recovery with lollipop. Make sure you get the latest version as it plays well with lg phones.

you could unzip the gapps and move the apps manually into the system apps folder, fix permissions, then reboot. dont try to install, system apps install themselves on reboot.
im thinking, some will work and some may not. i believe for some of the apps, there are other files the gapps install, you should see them in the gapps package, but i dont know where they need to be placed. maybe you can look at other apps to find similar files and place the new ones in the appropriate places.
i would make sure you have some way to recover your phone first. you just never know what might happen when dropping non native things into the system.

You shouldn't install them as a normal app.
Your device has to be rooted.
Make a backup for your system apps and replace them with the downloaded apps and finally give them correct permissions.
If you follow the above links you will see how to install them in details.

My understanding is that Samsung Pay requires hardware that is not in the Note 4.
