[Q] Tried replacing screen assembly, new screen broke. What to do? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I tried replacing the screen on my One X and when I hooked it up it seemed to work fine. Once I confirmed the screen/digitizer worked I put the battery in and put it all back together. Then the screen decided not to work and wouldn't display anything but lines and some light. I'm not sure what happened, maybe pushing the assembly into the housing pulled the ribbon out of the phone. I'm not sure.
I'm thinking about upgrading to the XL or X+ but I'm curious, is there a chance my phone is damaged aside from the screen? When I have it plugged into the computer and turned on it isn't detected at all. Also, when I confirmed the screen worked I noticed I had a bootloop, which is odd since it worked fine before. I'm not sure what I did
And no, unfortunately debugging is disabled :/

Perhaps you shouldn't have attempted the repair yourself if you don't really know what you're doing. My suggestion would be to take it to a professional and get them to inspect the device. By the way, you're posting in the wrong forum, this is the HTC One XL forum.

To anyone who has successfully replaced one x lcd/digitizer

So i purchased a LCD/digitizer from eBay and received it in the mail this morning. I followed the steps and was able to get my cracked screen (digitzer&lcd) off. After assembling it all with the new screen i ran into an issue.
There is no response from the screen at all it is just black. The phone boots fine though because it vibrated and then a few minutes later i can hear my notifications go off and the led is flashing.
could it be a bad connection with the wires, if so what one should I look at, Did i buy a faulty screen, or am i just sol?
is there any difference between a One X and a One XL screen?
any help is appreciated.
purchased from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271006361868?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2923wt_1218
Could be bad connection..there is a YouTube vid on replacing it..

yea that is what i am assuming since nothing was working but i just wanted to see if anyone else ran into this issue :/
I've successfully replaced the lcd/digitizer on my htc one xl, and gonna be doing another one soon. Make sure the connections are fully clamped in place. the top connection closest to the htc/at&t logo on the screen controls the touch, while the bottom connection controls the picture. So just see if the bottom connection is damaged or maybe out of place. If nothing is wrong with them then you may have a faulty screen. I suggest always testing the screen before actually putting everything in place with the adhesives, so just connect it first and if it works then you can reassemble everything.. I'm not too sure whether there is any difference with the htc one x and one xl screen. As far as I know they should be very similar. But I would definitely stay on the safe side and get only the screen that is made for your device. I have not attempted using one with the other.

[Q] HTC One X Digitizer/LCD Repair Problems

I run a cell phone repair company and we do quite a few repairs but this in particular HTC One X has us all stumped here. We do realize that there are 3 different versions of the dig/lcd and we have the correct part. But has anyone had problems with trying to replace the HTC One X dig/lcd assembly. It seems that after I put the new part on the lcd is black but the phone is still on. I even went back and put the old screen back on and it is still black. Prior to the repair the lcd worked fine. But just the digitizer was cracked. I have even went as far as changing the motherboard on the phone to a new one and am still having the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Have you checked the ribbon length to make sure you do not have a break?

It would seem to me as though it's just as simple as one of the connectors is not plugged in or just not plugged in properly, which is easy to do since one of them is on the underside of the board which I believe is the one for the screen itself.

OP already stated that going back to the original LCD did not yield results.

Exactly. Seems like the only probable answer is that something was broken during teardown - either a cable or connector. Given the size of everything in there, it doesn't take much....
Did you ever find a solution to this?
I'm kind of in the same boat at the moment, BUT there's a silverish lining
In the midst of replacing a screen on my One X. Phone is obviously "on" (despite being in pieces on my desk), but n either the new or old screens will come on when I push the power button.
For a lark, I plugged the phone in, and did an 'adb reboot'
My splash screen comes up on the new screen just fine, as does the Viper Logo and my home screen and everything.... but once it shuts off the power button will NOT re-wake it up. At first I thought "I must have broken the power button" but I also forced a notification to it - which also typically wakes up the screen - and also saw nothing.
EDIT : Cancel that; for some reason the power button didn't work until I had the case back on. Grounding maybe? Either way, working fine now.
Some Ebay product page for a screen replacement said you should first power on the device with the old screen, then take the old screen out while the phone is running and put the new one in.
Maybe you should trie that. I'm not a hardware expert, so do some research before trying this and don't blame me if it doesnt work
That will only work if the screens not working. Op. It's difficult to narrow the issue in your situation. If the flex cables don't work, it's a short which would require much more advanced knowledge to fix.

[Q] Disassembled & Phone Won't Turn on

Part of my screen isn't responding to touch, so I decided to take the phone apart. I guess I was a little rough, but only broke two spring loaded connectors, which I think should be fine once I solder them back on. Anyway, I tried turning the phone on and it failed. I tried plugging in the usb connector to the computer and my computer keeps giving that disconnected sound. I was able to turn on the phone prior to disassembling...any ideas what happened?
Also, I have to replace the power button since it was also being non responsive and the tip got lost....
It's almost impossible to say what's wrong with it without seeing the device because you could have damaged any component and not know it. Are you certain the screen just isn't working as opposed to the device not turning on? Is it showing up as anything on your PC? Is there any reaction from the led upon connection via usb?
Also, exactly what device do you have? You haven't identified it at all.

Sorry I have the HTC One X... I'm pretty sure the device isn't turning on...because the screen would turn on before. Nothing shows up on my PC except that it's trying to identify the device and there's no reaction from the LED on the phone
If you have the HTC One X (Endeavoru) you're in the wrong forum, this is the HTC One XL / at&t One X (Evita) forum. It's best to get advice in the right place because although our devices look similar they're very different internally. I'll ask for this thread to be moved to the right device subforum for you.

Hmmm not sure which one I have, but I do have the North America one with AT&T
Ahh, ok, you have the HTC One XL Evita then.

Thank you for verifying!
Well since I already disassembled the entire thing and still waiting on parts...I'll wait and see if replacement of power button and screen fixes the issue. If not, I'll report back with pics of the board reassembled

replace entire screen

Im trying to replace the lcd (the whole front panel) on a surface pro 1, and have run into an issue. Its for a friend of mine and it was presented to me with the old front panel removed and the new one kinda slapped in there, Im wondering if anyone has a link to a repair guide for it. Ice done many screens before and it kinda seems like its dead. I have all of the ribbon cables connected and none of them look pinched or damaged. Any help/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

well, the original one was, but the replacement isnt. The person who started the project took the old screen off and replaced it with an entirely new one but couldnt get it to come on, so he gave it to me to work on. Ive connected all the ribbon cables and tried rebooting it, but it wont come on. Is there a way of force rebooting it like there is in android? Ive tried holding the power button down for over 30 seconds and it didnt do anything.

I'm not sure honestly.
I also have a Surface Pro 1 with a cracked screen and would like to replace it.
The cheapest way is to only replace the glass with digitizer http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-...-Glass-Replacement-Parts-1pc/32368476632.html
I know replacing the whole LCD combo is easier, but is this still doable? For example with this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/100m...ine-to-Splite-Glass-Lens-for/32245814109.html or these http://www.aliexpress.com/item/5ml-...for-Cellphone-Glass-Lens-LCD/32479129528.html tools
Or should I use just use the complete set: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free..._78_77_80,searchweb201644_5,searchweb201560_9
And is this the right set to buy when you want to fix a cracked screen on a SP1 128GB

Bad motherboard or ?

I bought my brother a second-hand M8. It had a cracked screen but it was really cheap. I put the new screen in and a new SIM card reader. Everything worked fine for months and out of the blue the screen stopped responding to touch. Everything else worked fine as far as I could tell. Even in TWRP touch was gone so I figured maybe it was a cheap screen or something like that. I took it apart and the backlight was falling apart. Ordered a new screen that had the frame with it to save time on reassembly and because the old one was a little tweaked. Same problem, ran the RUU from Windows, ran different RUU's from several threads via Fastboot. Ran the latest firmware package on Santods thread and still nothing. It has to be the motherboard at this point right? The display and digitizer cables go right into the motherboard and the only cable that looks replaceable goes up int the daughter board with the cameras and top speaker assembly. Am I missing something or should I just scrap this mess?

I checked all of the ribbon cables multiple times and sadly that had no effect. Thank you for trying though!
