So, both AT&T and Rogers are getting the HTC One XL, but they are going to call it (and market it) as the HTC One X. Even though they look identical, they will run diffrent firmware because of the diffrent SoC (Qualcomm S4 Krait dual core prossesor vs. Tegra3 Quad core processor). Because of the diffrence in firmware, we have split up the two forums.
So again, this is the place for the AT&T/Rogers branded versions of the HTC One X. Please do not post new threads or questions in the One X forums as we do not want there to be cross-contaminated threads going on, they belong here.
Thank you for your cooperation and sorry if there is any confusion. Have a nice day.
I wish I saw this before my sleepless night of trying to figure out how I got stuck in a hboot loop when flashing a custom recovery and trying to root lol.
Many hours later, I realised I had the one XL and simply had to revert using the AT&T stock RUU
Here's to hoping my time running the stock rom won't last much longer
Damn I am on the same boat... I try to flush and stock in hboot loop too. Which RUU did you end up using?

The one posted in the dev section for the one XL : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550930
Then follow this setup (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609190 )

Open the .exe and make sure that it fully started.
Don't click anything, just go to windows icon and search for %temp%.
You will now find some folders, just search through these folders for the ROM.zip.
If you found it, you can copy it to your desktop or somewhere else.
Extract it with WinRar,7-zip or something like that and take the boot_signed.img and system.img.
Now copy the two files into the folder where the fastboot.exe is placed (if you have installed the Android SDK, it should be in platform-tools)
Plug in your One X, go into the bootloader and go into fastboot mode.
Navigate with the cmd in the folder with the fasboot.exe and the two .img's.
Now type in that:
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
After that:
fastboot flash system system.img
If everything worked, just reboot:
adb reboot
Evo 4G LTE
Is this forum where the Evo 4G LTE is going to be also?
... and is that why there is a Galaxy S III forum and not a Evo 4G LTE.
I think it would be easiest to have the parent forum be renamed One XL
as the 32gb xl that's showing up in other parts of the world (like in australia) will also be PJ83 devices.
branding the forum 'AT&T One X' is a bit rediculous.
I think it was supposed to be "One XL & AT&T One X", but the admins didn't completely understand.
It just needed something signifying "AT&T One X people here"

One X NAM would also suffice (North American Model)... NAM was a common moniker used back in the day for a lot of european models altered for to support north american bands.... eg: N95/N95 8Gb by Nokia (as just an example)
would it not be easiest using the processors to tell? s4 on one forum, and t3 on the other. this way names and internal memory sizes don't matter.
Htc one x t3
Htc one x/xl s4 lte

this wouldn't work because russia and/or others may get the s4 model, but named the xl. we'll have the one x int, one x at&t, one x rogers, one xl int, and perhaps different memory inside (16gb or 32gb). this is to many variants that really can be solved by either going off the processors or the "lte" label.
to make matters worse, the one x forums have ZERO stickies denoted the rogers or at&t variant!
I messaged the mods about this a few days ago, didn't get a response.
"HTC One X LTE"
Nice and simple.
I agree that naming the forum "AT&T" is ridiculous. This is not an AT&T-exclusive device.

The problem with the real XL model is that the s4 type has almost been up in the air due to the problems with TSMC's 28nm process and the lack of chips available to manufacture the devices. By Q4, we might see some pretty hefty BOM (bill of materials) changes compared to our devices. The changes might be as different as our devices are to the tegra 3 One X's (probably not that excessive, but you know what im getting at) lol

They should just name the forums HTC One X (Quad-Core Tegra 3) and HTC One X (Dual-Core Snapdragon S4)
Those are the 2 major differences right? If you dont know if you have a dualcore or a quad, then you probably shouldn't be on XDA...
(grated that those actually are the names of the processors)
Yes, but the main difference people are looking for is LTE.
Also it's the S4 snapdragon, not the S3

Were still working on this, its just that the few Admins we have are busy doing other things for XDA and a forum name change isnt really high up on their priority list. It will get done eventually...

Sorry, but no. A lot of people don't know what CPU their phone has. It isn't necessarily common knowledge. But that doesn't mean you can't be interested in rooting or custom ROMs.
Everyone, however, will know if they have LTE or not, since it's blatantly advertised.
So I'll say again, "HTC One X LTE" is the perfect name for this forum. There's no reason to make this more complicated than it needs to be.

every phone will have a quad or a dual core
not every phone will be able to use LTE. not all providers have LTE.

But only providers with LTE will provide the dual core version.
"Do you have the new LTE iPad?"
"Do you have the new iPad with the A5x?"
Which one do you think people will know?
Is calling this section "AT&T HTC One X" really justified? I mean, the phone is also available in Australia and AT&T doesn't even exist there. This section should be called either "HTC One XL" or, as suggested above, "HTC One X LTE". Calling it "AT&T HTC One X" is just plain wrong unless you want to add in Rogers and Optus or Telstra or whoever it is that will be launching the device in Australia.
Just want to know if anyone is working on ATT 2.20 firmware root?
I just bought ATT HTC one X and it comes with 2.20 firmware.
Also, what really makes the ROM from the international HTC one X section (Insert coin or Revelation HD) not to work on ATT?
Yes, i understand the 2 phones are of different hardware but how hard it will be to port to ATT HTC one x?

The phones may look the same, but besides the casing and some touchscreen drivers they are entirely different phones.
Its just like saying why won't Nexus 7 ROMs work on this phone.

Of course it's being worked on. There's just no progress. As for why international roms don't work on our one x, it's the same reason you can't use gasoline in a diesel engine.

I hope your money loss and no lte speeds are worth it
just wondering would it be possible that One S roms get ported to the One XL? I know that they have the same chipset so theoretically it should work right. I am contemplating if I should sell my One XL and get the International GSM One X since it has more development options and ROMs etc :L
Nobody will stop you from going over to the International One X. Of you want a One S ROM ported, why not try it yourself? We have great devs and dev teams here, not sure why you'd complain about it.

We have a snapdragon krait

I'm pretty sure the new ones do have a 1.7ghz s3... I frequent the one s forum too since my gf has the phone. The older one s has a 1.5ghz dual core s4 just like us...
It's on Wikipedia if you dont believe me lol.
Team venom makes roms for both phones, might want to give them a ring if you're curious about portability.
True. I wasnt complaining about the development here because I'd great but I can't help but notice the wider support for the One X and S.
Anyway I was just curious about what other people thought and it'd be a bit of a hassle for me to swap to a international ver. Since team.venom are here I'm happy for now. And plus the XL is rare, especially here in Australia. We also get 32gb storage unlike most of u who only have 16gb on AT&T ;P

The screen resolution is very different between the S (540 x 960) and XL (720 x 1280). So on top of any other differences (CPU, etc.), a bunch of the graphics in the UI would need to be re-scaled. It can be done, and ports from various devices with different resolutions has happened in the past. But it adds all that much more work. Unless the ROM is going to bring something really new to our device, there isn't much point in all the work.
Ok so I am confused over which one to buy. The X+ has faster 1.7 quad core but the nvidia chip whereas the XL has the amazing Qualcomm s4 one. Which one is best regarding gaming? The X+ has better battery storage etc but better gaming?
You're asking a bunch of XL users which one to buy? You might get a slightly biased response here. Surely you don't need someone else to tell you how to spend a few hundred dollars. Personally I prefer Qualcomm chips. There's more development for the XL too. But in the end you're going to have to make the decision for yourself so this thread is a bit pointless.

+1 with Qualcomm chips you can get S-off and more possiblity... One X+ is'nt a bad phone but....
I upgraded from my evita to a one x+ and was disappointed to the point that I traded back too a evita in the first 5 days development was not very busy no official cm and the thing was a fire hot battery animal
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
The X+ is HTC's red-headed stepchild (um . . . no offense to red-headed stepchildren). A mid-year incremental upgrade to the One X, the X+ was sold in extremely low numbers, with little support from HTC or the development community. The X+ was condemned to obscurity form the start, to say the least. I'd stay far away, as the slight increase in CPU power is not worth the downsides.
That said, unless you are really strapped for cash, do you really want to spend your hard earned money on phones that are a year to a year and a half old? I'd consider a more current device, especially if you are worrying about gaming performance.
One X over X+
Just acquired an X+ thru some linux PC work I performed. Used it for a week, back to my X. Def more custom roms & optimization support for the One X.
Hey guys, i have an HTC One X that i got from rogers. My question is whats the difference between this forum and the other HTC One X forum. Would i brick my phone using the other forum? Whats the main differences between Rogers HTC and the other HTCs?
Nvm, figured it out myself. The Rogers HTC has a Snapdragon S4 processor while the international has a Tegra 3. I have my question answered, thanks.
Yes you'll brick your phone if you go to the other forum. You have the HTC One XL (Evita). For some reason the north American carriers decided to incorrectly market the phone as the One X which has caused a bit of confusion. The main difference is that the hardware is completely different, they look alike but on the inside (where it matters) they're worlds apart. Anyway, stay in this forum and you'll be fine.
