Hi all!
I'm using an XT1034 (US GSM w/ AWS) and have done the usual (official 4.4.2 firmware, rooted, Xposed + GB[KK]).
I also use a DPI of 240 because I still have good eyes and enjoy the extra space.
What bugs me though is the network indicator.
On my other phones, I use the SlimKat ROM and this one allows me to use a *text* network icon in the status bar. Instead of showing bars, it shows an antenna and the dB reading on its left (this is how I know I usually get -91dB in my basement).
Is there a way to use Xposed (or anything else) to achieve the same on my MotoG ? Or at the very least, remove the 3G and/or H icons and keep only the signal bars?
Thanks!
I wanna know some way too.

I thought gravitybox could do this but I looked there now and no it seems it can't .
Apps like DroidStats and Co doesnt work for me since installed flinny/devil-kin cm11 rom. They simply show now traffic at all, but the internal Android counter works.
Also the NetworkSpeedIndicator modul from Xposed shows always 0 byte in the statusbar.
Is this a known problem, maybe SELinux or kernel related?
Thanks, Thomas
Nobody using traffic monitoring apps and can say works/works not?
Hello,
I have a "problem" with wifi/3G usage at same time:
Generally Android uses wifi OR 3G, at least as I know and as it worked on ROMs <CM12. When I come home and login to my wifi, I see that some apps are using 3G while wifi is connected. If I then disable 3G and reactivate it, my phone stops using 3G. This happens only in my home wifi. I assume that there's a "problem" with my network config. I'm using a firewall with web proxy, everything is blocked so all devices are forced to connect to web via 8080. Proxy ist configured in the wifi settings. However there are plenty of apps that are not interested in using this proxy - it seems Android decides then to use 3G.
Could it be like that: CM12 connects to my wifi and discovers that all ports are blocked except 8080. All Apps trying to connect directly to the internet can't do that and CM12 directs them to 3G?
In Samsung Settings you are able to set an option to allow the usage of both networks, if wifi is poor. But in CM 12 I can't find such option. How can I disable that?
---
One more thing: I use very often system profiles but always have to go to settings to change the profile. Is there a way to configure the action bar buttons like in CM11?
TIA
Hello again, I'll give it another try. No one noticed that with CM12?

I can't answer your specific question, but as a short term workaround, maybe try installing SmartWiFi Toggler, it has an option to force a disconnect mobile data when you're connected to Wifi.
I recently upgraded my z3 dual to android 5.0.2. I found that there is a random key icon in the status bar and I cannot figure out what it is, I don't have any VPN's active and that was my only conclusion to what it could be. What is it? and what does it do???
It means you're are connected or disconnected from a vpn connection.
Of you remove the connection from your phone (active or inactive doesn't matter) it will disappear again. But you were right on your first guess, it is vpn
If you pull down the menu and click on "Network may be monitored" (below quick access) it will tell you which connection is running.
Hi, did you solve it, I have the same key icon and cant get rid of it. !
Dr. Web
If you're running the Dr. Web anti virus app it'll gain permission to operate soley off a VPN it doesn't change your phones network status as far as what you are connected to for data.... The app itself operates using a VPN which will display the key symbol in status bar!
For me it has happened when using the app doze when I activated the aggressive mode of the app DOZE and would see the key icon popping up and disappears when i deactivate this mode after granting it access to my device.
Could be Opera Max
do
Opera max did it for me.
Hi, did not check how old this is, but recently I got Xperia XZ premium and noticed same icon , and I Remember when it appear on my phone, it is after installed netguard firewall it using vpn locally on your phone, so it does not transmit data to some vpn server in any case. I love it, it do job very well and it cause that small icond to appear in my status bar.
Hey guys...
i have a problem with my 920F... it doesnt show any unknown wifi-networks, it only connects to known ones.
"Wifi overview 360" app finds them all, but not android stock wifi app. Any idea which systemfiles i should check? (i have root)
Thanks.
I fixed it... AppOps Xposed -> activating location service for "com.android.settings" :good:
