OTA and root - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have rooted my nexus 5 using CF-Autoroot will I get official OTA updates after rooting?
I am on stock ROM with root access.
Thanks

Yes you will, but you shouldn't update it via software update.. You need to flash the OTA.zip through recovery...

OTA Update - Rooted and unlocked phone?

I was planning to flash Jelly but decided that I'm happy with ICS and liam wilng to wait for the OTA update. What's the process for preparing for the OTA update?
The method I used to root the phone was I believe the easy one click root debugfs-root. I used EZ-Unlock to unlock the bootloader. I also installed EZ-Recovery. Thanks.
Flash back to stock before applying any ota from Verizon

Give this a try. I just posted this in the development section. Original OTA updates modified to work on rooted, custom recovery, bootloader unlocked devices with Google Wallet and NFC libraries installed.

(edit) If you don't have the latest SW for the S3 yet you can apply those OTA updates on your rooted, custom recovery, etc. device. When the Jelly Bean OTA comes down I'll be sure to make a rooted, custom recovery-friendly version of that OTA as well.

[MotoG XT105] A question about root

I have my XT1045 on stock 4.4.3 rooted. My question is, if I update to 4.4.4 will root be maintained or will I have to wait for a new root method to reroot it?
Thanks for any help

Does towelroot work for all versions of this phone?

Hey everyone.
I am using this phone for about a year now. When i originally got it in october of last year (HW version g900p.04), I was able to use towelroot with no issue. Since then I have installed a total of 1 OTA update, and immediately reran towelroot, which still worked.
I am currently at android 4.4.2, NE5.
I would love to just get a stock rom that still has root, but I haven't found much. I found an odin-flashable ROM of the latest OTA update, but it isn't rooted. Apparently you can install towelroot and that will root it for you.
Can I just install the latest OTA updates, and then use towelroot to reroot? Or would I need to odin flash recovery too?
Any help would be appreciated.
Just tried it on latest OTA and no go

Nexus 5 Unroot Issues using Kingroot

Hi, so after I received lollipop 5.1.1, I rooted my phone. There is now an OTA update available so I unrooted it with Kingroot. However, even afterwards, I still cannot update . Please help
OMG... Why are you using such a tool on a Nexus??? Read the general sticky thread to find the OTA help desk.
on lollipop unroot is broken (also with chainfire supersu) , you have to re-flash you actually rom system.img (extracted from google factory image) and then ota, or directly flash the updated system.img
and then reroot again
that' all.
cheeers!

Unroot and Stockj bootloader to OTA update to Nougat

Hi,
I´m on 6.0 rooted with TWRP and would like to update to Nougat without setting up my phone from scratch.
Does this work?:
Flash Stock Bootloader. (Does it have to be the exact same one from the Stock rom version i have?)
Unroot with Supersu
Receive Ota Updates?
Or how would you do it?
Thanks in advance

Hi mate
I am assuming you have a root stock firmware....
Check this thread , it explains how to update stock firmware without losing anything..... BUT you will have to install TWRP and root afterwards
