I don't think that's a good idea
boost CDMA asking for sim card
Hello. First time posting in a forum. Many thanks to all who have guided me..
I had to give a friend my boostmobile moto g because I was so lost trying to get it back to working order. When he gave it back it worked in all ways except it now asks for a sim card. Its CDMA and never had a sim nor is there a spot for one. Does anyone know what went wrong and how to fix it. Its the 8gb and now has the cyanogenmod on it. I have no service on it now

I did it on mine about two months ago and it's perfect. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't have done it.
@OP
No, there is no other method. Either by rooting or unlocking the bootloader, will break your warranty. Live with the second sim icon or do it already.

Give me one good reason to buy a dual Sim version if you flash on it single version firmware.
Btw, if it's working, kudos!

8gb more internal space, perhaps?

I don't see the connection between dual Sim and 16G.

Well the XT1033 variant has two versions, and the one I bought is 16gb which is the only reason I bought it instead of the XT1032's only version of 8gb. I don't give two left f*** about the two sims, only about the internal space. Also I was interested on the extra shells for design purpose. There you have it, the connection you wanted.
Anyway it's not the point of the topic and I believe the OP has been given the choice above.

Hi there,
I have a Tesco 1st Gen Moto G and I recently upgraded to Lollipop.
It works fine now, but after getting a new Sim Card, when I put it in, I get the Sim Lock Code message. I've previously unlocked the phone and I'm unsure whether it is a Network lock (Like Tesco lock) that has somehow came back after the flash - Or if it's a lock that I have put on the phone. (Would that carry over after flash?)
So confused right now and I only have one attempt left before I'm locked out.
Please help. You're my only hope.
Sounds to me like a sim lock. I have flashed ROMs onto many different phones and the security lock from one ROM has never carried over to the new ROM.

Thanks mate. Much appreciated.
I've tried three different suppliers.
Each have said that my phone is not on the database.
(I'm assuming it is unlocked?)
Did you get the imei # by using the dial pad?
Yeah man - On all three occasions the vendor had to reimburse me.
I genuinely don't get it - but I've even tried resetting my PIN with my PUK and even that won't let me edit it.

I was not able to sim unlock my phone few months ago. Then I flashed a new ROM and with the same code it worked.
Can you flash a lollipop ROM and try ?

So you put the same unlock code into the phone that previously had unlocked it?
Hmmm...

I explain with more details. In december, I had a new sim from a new provider. I tried the unlock code my former one gave me. It didn t work. Then I contacted 3 different merchant on eBay. My phone was also not found. But after a few days each time, they sent me a code. The 3 merchants gave me the same code I already had !
See this video : Unlock SIM Codes not working on Moto G first Gen …*: http://youtu.be/i883Nk6LuZE
At this time I was on DU ROM (KitKat).
One day I was deseperated ^^, I flashed CR Droid ROM (lollipop)... And with the same code, I unlocked my phone.
It was a soft problem. That s why I told you to try with another ROM (full wipe)
Maybe you will be lucky as me.

Hmmm - This is interesting. I've not got the original code that I got when I first unlocked it - And each vendor I bought from said my IMEI was not in the database.
Gutted.
So you think I should flash the rom?
A shame you don t have the original code... Not sure flashing a new ROM will solve your problem (but you have nothing to loose).
I know a guy on eBay very efficient who sales code for 2 bucks. Do you want his contact ?

Installed the latest U.S firmware onto my Canadian phone. I'm seeing a SIM toolkit app now. It doesn't really open when I try to run it.
What's the app do anyway?
it's for dual sim phones
Cool, thanks.

hy guys,
cause my s6 motherboard is gone by an "i don't know what happened", during a normal wipe data from twrp 3.0.2-0 i don't know how my s6 don't turn on anymore. dead completely. a friend send me an efs backup from his s6, i've flashed that and my s6 has turned on. the only BIG matter is the imei, that don't work for nothing the ril. i've done a billion things to try to let my s6 working, but it doesn't. so i will know if possible replace my mainboard with an 64 gb version, and if there is things to know-modify ecc, because i've found in ebay an 64 gb mainboard for g920f, and i've started thinking thank you!!

IMEI is unique to each individual device. If you wrote over yours with his.. thats a whole other world of problems.

What exactly are you planning to do with that?? Yeah you'll be able to get it in there, maybe even get it to boot. But you still won't be able to use it on a network till you get your imei back in there

OK. What happens next?
Yes same size motherboards so no reason it wouldn't work with everything else

the new motherboard comes with a different imei. he just needs to register the new imei on his account. To prove ownership he may have to show proof of ownership.
Did it work after you replace it? I was thinking to do it on mine as well.
I see this has been asked quite a few times, but I want to clarify a little further.
I'm in New Zealand, so I can't update my LG G3 to android 6.0 as I need an AT&T sim card. I was wondering if I could use an expired at&t sim, without a plan or credit or anything like that, to update my phone.
Thanks!

Yes. And it has to be an AT&T sim card. Be careful if you have substratum themes installed. Several people here experienced problems with updating if they were using that. There's a new bootloader in the update.
