[Q] Strobe LED on phone lock - General Questions and Answers

Hi sorry if this is the wrong place but I couldn't find anywhere else to post:
I'm looking for an app that will strobe the led of my nexus 5 so I don't get run over when I'm exercising at night.
Now I know there are plenty of apps around for this but I must have tried 15 of them and not a single one will continue to strobe once the screen is locked.
Is this a limitation or Android? Or just an overlooked feature? Surely this would be an easy fix for any developers out there?

Can you please repost your question into the App Review, Recommendation & Discussion Thread.
Thanks!

New T-Mobile Shadow Forum!

Hi -- who knows if a dedicated Shadow forum will be added here, so for now I created one at a freebie forum site. Don't really know what I'm doing, but it seems to be working OK. If they add a sub-forum here, I'll just cut 'n paste it all over and close the other one.
Here's the link: http://shadow.myfreeforum.org
There's a new section for the Shadow at Modaco:

Looks like a good forum, many good sub-topics, etc.
However, I closed the page quickly, and didn't open any of the posts. Why? That idiotic background "music" is extremely annoying! I couldn't stand to keep hearing that over and over. So I closed the page, without reading any posts.
If there is any way you can get rid of that background noise, please do so. (I didn't see any way for the user to turn it off.)
I use Kaspersky Internet Suite, it has a banner-blocking feature that shields me from that -- sorry, it's a freebie site and I have no control over their ads. I cut 'n pasted the topics over to the new Shadow forum at Modaco though, so you can spare yourself the music at: http://www.modaco.com/category/320/HTC-Juno-Juno-MoDaCo-com/

Gyro development

Hi all,
New here so be gentle.
I'm interested in developing an application that uses the gyro in my touch hd.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to find some resources on this?
many thanks
Logicalstep
Hi logicalstep,
...it is an accelerometer, not a gyroscope. what do you want to do?
I'd liek to start building apps that make use of the accelerometer. Such as customizing actions such as a shake or when you turn the phone over.
Obviously this can be done as HTC make use of it to mute the sound on a phone call.
Do you have any experience wit this ? Can you point me in the right direction?
There must be a way to access the functions of the accelerometer through and API or something in visual studio?
Much appreciated.

Perhaps this link can be of use to you.

Fantastic, thats just what I want.
Many thanks.
I'll let you knwo if I ever get the chance to build an app worthy of XDA Devs!

[App Idea] Optical Scrolling - Developer(s) Needed

Here's the idea.... Use an app that takes advantage of the front facing camera on many phones and tablets to tracking the vertical movement of the users eyes to scroll the content within the screen up and down. Yes you would run into a battery drain issues but tracking the users eyes every 3-5 seconds rather then constantly may help. Hard to say until we can test it with a beta app.
Why am I posting this here? I'm not a developer and much as I would like to be one, but I would like to post this idea (which is clearly listed as my idea) to see if a fellow developer or developers would be interested in a joint development of a possible paid app to put on the Market. Assuming this would be possible on any Android OS. If you are interested send me a message.
If this thread is against forum rules please let me know where I should have posted this. Thanks!

[Q] [Android-CM9] What is a Shadow mode app?

Hello,
I was trying to develop a full screen application on Android CM9 for a Galaxy Tab 7" P1000 with the 20120407 build and HumberOS Kernel 20120325.
It appears that only shadow mode applications can be run in full screen (without combined bar).
As I am new and cannot post on developer sections, I am posting this there.
I looked in different sections (GTab specific, Android dev specific, other devices...) but could not find an answer :
What is a shadow mode Android application?
Well, another day in ignorance.
A bump for hope.
Well, if no answer in 10 bumps at least I will be able to post in an appropriate section.
I believe this is related to the screen and the softbuttons and hiding them and making apps go full fullscreen (lol).
This is just an educated guess though...
Well, at least an answer.
I knew that already because it is the purpose of my question but thanks anyway.
As for doing it, I put >> android:theme="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen" << in my Android activity definition but this is not sufficient, that is why I was asking what is a shadow mode app.
Some people on the forum stated that only those apps could hide the soft buttons if along with it the correct option was checked in the parameters (and of course I checked it).
I tried some other application styles but none of them happened to put the activity in real full screen, without soft buttons.
I am going to check again and see if someone asked it in the past days!
Will keep you informed...
I know MX Video player can do it, maybe you can ask the dev if he can help you out?

Android 5 and light flow question

Hi all
I have just got the ota android 5 for my Nexus 5. I am trying to find a way that I can have my phone on silent (I guess this is the new none notification setting) but I still want light flow to flash when I have a sms whatsapp etc... Basically I want my phone to not vibrate or make a noise but still flash when I have text.
Is this not possible now on Android 5?
Thanks for any help
Chris
While I can't actually answer your question...
You may be best to dig into the Light Flow site http://www.reactle.com/search/label/blog On my quick look I see very little about Lollipop beyond a note that an update is coming in days -- but that's undated. If you can't find details somewhere on the site shoot Andrew (the dev) an email. I was in touch with him several months ago when he was just starting the Hell of trying to retune for "L". If there isn't an L-specific FAQ buried there somewhere you'd be doing him a (*ahem*) favour by encouraging him to post one.
