Has anyone got the TomTom navigation app? Has anyone figured a way to work around the resolution limitation?
Works on iPad Air so it really should work on this tablet.

Try using app manager in the xposed module to set the dpi for the Tom Tom app separately. That might allow it to run.

Um, are you sure?
Yes I checked in the system/app folder and it wasn't there. When I put it into the car dock I get an icon to disconnect from the dock but it never loads.

Ok I got the apk and pushed it with adb. Now the big question is it possible to modify the apk so it opens Google navigate instead of vznavigator. Please someone tell me there is hope.lol

Why not try Car Home from the Market. I have it on my phone and very happy with it. much better than Google or Samsung dock.

+1
Its very customizable add whatever apps you want.
Also you can use setting profiles from the market and make it load and close when you put it in or take it out of the dock.
Works slick!
is it just me? I am unable to find car home on the market (on the phone) - and when I go to the market, I can't push it to the phone. how are you guys downloading it?

Not sure why you are not able to find it on the Market. It is listed as CarHome Ultra. You get 30 days free trial then you but license yo use after. WELL WORTH IT!!!!

wait a second, car home ultra isn't by google...."car home" is a google application, "car home ultra" is by "thespinninghead".
I'll kindly pass on this one
Back in the Dinc days I had tasker start the GPS automatically whenever navigation started...but it doesn't look like that is possible with ICS/JB. I'm running beans 9
Does anybody have any idea on how to get this through tasker or other means? Thanks
Personally, I just leave my gps on all the time...
I don't see why Tasker wouldn't work though...
Sent from my (not really) SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
You can use Tasker, but you also need the Secure Settings app with the Root Helper installed in order for 3rd party apps to modify GPS settings. Why Google restricted it like that in Android 3.0+, I'm really not sure...

Phone Weaver can do it...

So do I, there is no reason not to really.
Leaving GPS on doesn't affect battery life enough to even notice.
Hey guys not sure if this is old news but since I haven't seen it posted here thought I'd point out this app in the play store. Works great in 4.1.2 and makes switching between apps and launching new ones a snap.

edit build.prop and add the line qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
save and reboot. Make sure you have an alternate means of navigation before you do this though
use LMT
Full screen from Play store to navigate, build prop command from above to remove nav bar.

works with Pie control (* root first*)
pretty awesome
LMT doesn't work properly for me. Does anyone know a good alternative? Thanks.

LMT and Full Screen don't work ( es. back button).
Also fullScreen toggle doesn't work.
Do you have an idea? I hate black bar on my screen!
Thanks.
Stefano.

I actually just made a video tutorial on YouTube and posted a guide in the general section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513910
What I did is edit the build.prop file and use an app called Button Savior to navigate. Works pretty good to be honest!

Dude! You do realise that back button still doesn't work. For temporary use its fine but not for long term.
Does anyone else know an alternative?

Yeah, I do know that and I mentioned that in my video. As you said, for temporary use it does the job!
Other than that, many apps that work on my Nexus 4 does not work on Nexus 5 as they probably aren't updated to work on the new device yet.
If I find something, I will definitely update my thread with new solutions!

I've used this on both my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus. It works well, but I haven't tried it on my Nexus 5 yet.

Says device not supported when I try to turn it on. Hasn't been updated since september so perhaps it's a 4.4 thing.
I am fascinated by that recent updates of this app. I know Tasker can do a lot of the things that it does but I'm still interested in trying it. I found the apk on that moto G thread but I couldn't get it to work on nexus 5. Does anyone know a work around to use this app on nexus 5?

I too am very interested in this app. My guess is that it ties into the framework + maybe some other apks. My Google-fu has found nothing on the status of a port.
Short answer: nope

Trying this out and so far so good for the driving/texting part.
Has anyone a good experience with an app like Agent? How's battery life with it?
