I had asked this previously coupled with other quetions but i didnt get any reply!
How can i install Apollo Music Player on stock or non cm based roms?
besides is there any other music player ( free ) which has a similar UI to apollo.
i have also heard that nexus 5 sounds terrible on non stock music players is it true?

To install it just find/download the .apk and load it on your phone. Shuttle/Shuttle+ has a similar UI to Apollo.

I've rooted and installed Viper4Android which dramatically improved all the Nexus 5 audio output. Then I switched from Poweramp to Neutron player and am very happy with my music options. If I was going to take only one of those two options the free Viper4Android wins hands down as the improvement is amazing. Check the XDA Nexus 5 themes and apps section for the thread on how to install Viper4Android on your phone and have to work well with almost any music player.

So I rooted my ns4g pretty much the minute I got it and I noticed there isn't a stock player??? It could be the rom I flashes doesn't have one but I didnt notice it when it was stock either. Any feedback??

It does have a stock player. It is called "Music."
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Yep and it is actually a darn decent player too. Still using poweramp since I paid for it and has an eq but the default music player imo is easier to navigate while on the run.

Ok so I looked through my apps and I have one called music but I'm pretty sure thats the google music beta app I downloaded. The Icon is an orange set of Headphones. My Epic 4G had a music player that had an equalizer which I loved!
Remember the Nexus is vanilla android, the galaxy is castrated by Samsung and touchwiz.

There are good free eq apps in the market that add a menu option to music apps using 2.3+. I like flat with my klipsch s4, but it helps greatly for my cold shure ec2. I use "equalizer" from smart android apps.
Look for the eq in the sound effects menu option. That menu option is only available on the playback view, not in any of the library views.

Winamp is a pretty decent music app for the Android as well. I use that rather than Google's stock music player.
Which rom are you using? I put the new google music player in becuase the market will keep telling you you have an update. TBH, I like the new one better anyway. If you want the aosp out-of-box player, I can give it to you.

I'm currently using this rom:

The only thing I didn't like about the music player is the absence of an equalizer, but I dl'ed the equalizer app and it works flawlessly! Thanks
Cut that Beats crap, thats no where close to a real Eq. You want to hear what real music was supposed to be like?
You want a powerful music player that has equalizers for nearly every aspect of your song?
You want to get the recently released jetAudio app. This music player is the most feature packed one I've seen and tried yet.
It is a player that is for Windows and it was recently ported to Android.
I blast Dubstep though my headphones daily so I needed a nice Eq for that. This is the best sounding player I've seen in a while.
It supports nearly every format availible, has insane amounts of equalizers, can change the speed of song, different effects (crossfade, cut, etc), can post to twitter/facebook for what you are playing if you want, has some fancy animations and more.
If you are looking for a music player then use this one.
Play Store Link (free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jetappfactory.jetaudio
It is currently recently released so it may have bugs. From what I've seen its working 100% though.
Also, if you want an ICS themed music player, check out the Apollo app from CM9 (google around to find the apk). It is awesome as well and is themeable (it only has a dark and light theme as of now though).
Thanks, great find! Looks nicer than PowerAMP.
Great!
Looks great, I'll definitely give this a try. I just wish they decided to use the Holo theme rather than going for a shiny-iPhone skin... but I'm OCD!
Any idea if the headphone controls actually work with our phone? I haven't had any success with even playing/pausing using any other headset :/
Anyone have any feedback as far as comparing this to poweramp+beats?
Sent from my HTC One XL using Tapatalk 2
Going to try it since you mentioned dubstep... I would of said dnb but dubstep works too

Wow, amaaaazing, how awesome that JetAudio Basic player is... (And for FREE! Not just 15-day-trial like PowerAMP free version... )
Get JetAudio Basic and rate it!
Anyone got an idea how to get a JetAudio Basic-widget on the homescreen? Like a mini-player with play/pause? :/
Loving the eqs on this, just wish it could work with my play music since I don't keep much music on the phone since no expandable SD card :/

Without BBE+ this player is not that great, however BBE Sound Inc. will soon come out with there own player app for Android soon, some time this year.
which u prefer?
personally i like poweramp more, their eq effect is amazing
Samsung. Not the best eq but with the beats audio mod, it's good!

Generally I prefer PowerAmp, but I like the Samsung widget and I like that it keeps music control in the notification bar all the time, so I've been sticking with it.

I'm coming from the Galaxy S Wifi 4.0 with Voodoo Sound and PowerAMP and Player Pro were for sure better than the Stock Player,
BUT now on Galaxy Note 10.1 I must say that the Samsung Player with Sound Alive set on Auto is the winner. Doesn't matter whether using earphones or speakers. The Samsung Player sounds better. Sound Alive Auto is very useful since every type of music needs its own EQ setting to sound best.
Still like the UI of PowerAmp more though.
Do any of these work with streaming my music library from google?

i'll have to check it out. if it's as good as you say then that'll make 2 stock media players that are as good as the stuff on the market - i love the video player.
Samsung is better :cyclops:
poweramp is paid apps. Not comparable, I think.
I just love poweamp its da best

Why not? On Windows: PowerDVD is paid and VLC (better) is free. Of course you can compare them both.
You guys have to listen (and concentrate) with Samsung Music (Soundalive on Auto) and PowerAMP (flat). Samsung Music clearly sounds superior. Of course your MP3s/Flac (yes! Stock Player can play FLAC) should have higher quality and your headphones, too.
I'm waiting for JB and a Kernel which supports Voodoo Sound to test it again.
Because on my other Device with Voodoo Sound, PowerAMP is better than than Samsung Music (older version) and stiil a bit more dynamic than Samsung Music from Galaxy Note 10.1. I also noticed, that Galaxy Note is almost crystal clear while my other device has very bad noise floor when DVC or EQ is enabled.

Surprising how good too. The music player is able to Play flac. And the Video player is able to handle 720 pMKV' For 1080 p vido playback you need MX or BSplayers .

Thanks for the tip. Sound alive sounds fantastic. The demo Samsung song sounds amazing and crystal clear. Virtualized 7.1 channel sounds gold also but now that I tried auto, its clearly the best IMO. Crazy how gold these stereo beakers sound on a tablet.

I've been a PowerAmp user on various devices for a long while, so was interested when first saw this thread and re-enabled srock music player to try it out. While better than prwvious players, PA still sounds much better to me over BT in my car as well as on my headphones (using flac files). I also prefer the functionality of PA, and couldnt find aome aimple things, like shuffle, in the stock player. I'm sure its there, just couldnt find it driving.

Yeah it's there. Tap on the cover art and there it is.
But like I said. PowerAMP has much better user interface. Stock Player has less options and doesn't look nice as PA.
Did you try it with headphones and [email protected]?

I'm currently using poweramp, good for equalizers and album art, however I've only been using it since switching from Vipers, which was using the HTC sense music player, I absolutely loved that one... Appolo could be much better in terms of album art distortion, Google Music Player is pretty decent but not as good as miui music player, all opinions of course
(side note: if anyone has a way of getting the HTC music player to work on cm10 I'd love to know, or if anyone knows of a similar music player)
Happy flashing!

IMO, the best music player is PlayerPro. been using that app for years now. has a customizable EQ, swipe gestures, features like crossfade and gapless playback, syncs my songs with Last.fm, has skins/themes, etc. I have the paid version, but check out the free version first

Can anyone recommend a good music player with maybe better equaliser than the stock that maybe even boost the sound via earphones? Thanks

I use poweramp
Poweramp would be my recommendation. Tons of options to play with as well as a more than capable built in equalizer.
Because they only sell the 16gb in my country version ive decided to use Google Play Music in combination with Viper4Android FX It works really great for me so far. This ofcourse comes with the monthly costs.
Neutron is the best sounding but Poweramp has the best UI. I use Poweramp only because Neutron is godawful to navigate and I don't listen to *that* much music on my phone.

JetAudio by Cowon (one of the best sounding mp3 player)
I even bought the Plus version (but don't use any of the plus version)
I have been using their PC version for years
Poweramp/Apollo
I've used power amp before in the gs4 but I seem to have got confused when listening to a album I would skip the track and then it would play a track from a diff album all the time so I uninstalled it :/
