Hi .. with Google releasing the new Google Keyboard, I'm interested to try. Just wondering if I should download on Google Play and install or should I wait for the update being pushed down?

Just install from Play, they`re the same most likely. The roll-out however is done in stages.
The update IS on the Play Store, Google won't push an OTA for a system app update

Like all Google apps the rollouts are staged. Sometimes I get apps right away, like the keyboard. Sometimes it takes a few days.
Sent from my Nexus 5
Keyboard layout appears to be much much bigger than before. Anyone see a way to shrink it a bit?
Thanks for all the info.
I updated directly from Google Play. Did a quick search on www.google.com for Google Keyboard and put in my Google account. Rest went smoothly without any hitch!

the point is to keep everything together like music and books instead of having Google Music seperately and Google E-Books seperately. It's for ease of use. But i have to say the name just doesn't work. I'm sure i'll get used to it.
To OP: I know it updates automatically, but a link may be helpful for some:
http://www.mediafire.com/?72w5189rc2wpa0c
it is 5 times faster than the older version for me it is perfect )
Yes that's true! The speed of Google Play is impressive comparing the old Market's speed! And only that is enough for me to be happy with this update!
The only good thing about switching to Play thing is that I can now see viz and pics in market, as they used another pool of IPs, which has not yet been blocked in my "democratic" country. ^^
i have a question, i recently reinstalled my ROM and i have the old market again
i was wondering hot to get it back? it updates automatically or manual?

For me, it updated automatically, so just be a little patient
As you can see in attached image...not much different than stock market. Icon change is noticeable right away. Anyways...

Google just wanted to give their services a name instead of android market.
I do have to say though I don't really like the new name of things but oh well...

+1, yup! It's just rebranding. I think it's perfect! It detaches itself from the name App Store, which is one of the reasons why they went with Android Market, because they were trying to get the idea to the mass that Market = Store (full of apps).
Now it's more like a battle between Google and Amazon.
Did anyone get the 3.5.15 update for their G Play Store on GT+ ?

is there anyway to set-up alerts for apps on sale at either Play or Amazon apps?
There's AppSales, but it's only for Google Play.

well that's something.
Uh oh!! Your Appsale link doesn't work anymore. Is there anything else? I'm curious about this too. I want to get NFS: Most Wanted on sale. LoL!!
And there was no way for me to get directly to the 25 cent Google Play sale unless I went through a link on the website. I didn't know how to navigate through the Desktop Play Store to find these apps. I definitely didn't know how to find these apps in the Mobile Play Store.
Sorry for my rant. =.P
The link still works. You can also go to Google Play and search for appsales.
Appzapp is a newish app in the play store which I use to keep informed of sales. It's still in beta but if it turns out to be as good as the ios version it will be a great app

Ah!! You're right. I opened it from my tablet and it worked. But I couldn't go to the link from my computer. Anyways I found it so thanks.
I've noticed that the Mate 9's apps aren't in the play store. It doesn't appear it has it's own Store either. How the heck do they update?
They either have the auto-update or they do not update at all.
MetroPCS has some apps installed on their Samsungs and are not present in any store. So they either update automatically, or they do not update at all.

Sigh.. I was afraid of that. Makes me want to look elsewhere when the Mate 10 comes out. I'd hate to wait for system updates just to fix bugs in messaging or even the mail app.

True, but you could also use third-party apps that you can find in Google Play instead of the default one from Huawei.

That doesn't exist on my phone... I've got the US model.

Oh for sure. I usually give the built in apps a shot because when you theme the phone, none of the non-huawei apps obviously theme and it throws the look off. I know that seems stupid, but hey. Also, I know this isn't Samsung, but have you ever tried to use 3rd party apps instead of theirs? All kinda of crap doesn't work right from the gallery to messaging and so on.
well...

I tried googling "hiapp apk" and it led me straight to Huawei's official app store where HiApp is available for download...
alternatively try to connect to HiSuite on your computer... there it would also prompt you to update the different apps when new versions become available...
HiApp is its own app store for Huawei mobiles and tablets. And you can download the package installer, . apk file, for HiApp store from official website of Huawei as below.

Ah great. Thanks guys.
Hi everyone,
I've been seeing many people having issues with installing Google framework on the AL00 variant.
The fact is that Google framework is already baked in and it is just a simple update to enable it.
1. Open app gallery and change country to China
2. Search for Google play store and click update
3. After update, click on open
4. The usual setup will appear
5. Done.
After the above steps, the majority of Google services and sync, etc should all be working.
* Update - OK Google does not work out of the box.
Have a good time with your new baby ?
Cheers!
Vincent

I should say Google framework instead of services. I need to test out Google assistant as I don't use it but "OK Google" might not work at all due to Hivoice.
I'll update this thread to reflect more facts.
I just used the browser to look up "Google play store" and it gave me an option to download/update it, I've never opened the app gallery and everything works fine ??
I do the same? thanks

Hi Vincent,
Thanks for the suggestion above. I have legit fried my tiny brain on all aspects of getting google play to activate/update install what have you.
My location in the App Store ALREADY says China - and I am still unable to open or update the Google Play Store.
Any other suggestions? I am also unable to create a Huawei ID for the phone, it keeps saying "Restricted" and won't let me. Any work-arounds for this?
