Hi there, i just want to have feedback on my TaskOS app.
This application show to the users all the apps he opened and never closed. ( leave applications with HOME key and it will appear. Leave with back key and won't appear.)
The user can scroll between all these apps and launch one by clicking on it or kill it by dragging to the top ( like Palm PRE)
That's a beta, but all the mains features are there.
What do you think of it.
PS: i am looking for ROM developpers that would be able to launch it by long click on the "home" button or trackball/other.
Features
* customizable icon size
* wave effect ( i think i'll remove it)
* confirm killing app or not
* notification to launch easily ( looking for people who know ho to integrate this with long press on home button - trackball)
* more to come...
Will come
* theming the bar
* ignore apps by moving icon to the bottom
Screenshots:
Looks nice but why doesn't it show as many apps as say taskiller?
I'm using a Nexus One btw
For what version of Android is this? Can I run this on my 1.5 device with Sense?

I said it here: this application only kills ACTIVE app's. I don't want to kill other apps.

This version is Android 2.1 on my hero. But yes of course, you can use it on a 1,5 device with sense!
nice thought, i like it!
I'm running 1.6 stock and unfortunately it doesn't show up when
i leave any app with home-key, but i find the idea of holding
home-key pressed in order to show up really nice!
...and yeah, i stopped using *press-here-to-kill-all-tasks*
I kinda like it
some suggestions:
- gestures (like from down to up to open it)
- Lock the slide up feature while scrolling
- Maybe previews of apps (would require lots of mem somehow)?
- click anywhere other than the switcher to close the switcher
- don't display apps twice
BTW: what about making an app launcher like the wave launcher from webOS? shouldnt be too hard and very useful
I like the idea of a Pre app launcher, but I want to say something related to memory may bog things down a little bit.

alright. Nevermind the thumbnails by gestures i mean like a system one so you drag up from the bottom of the screen to open taskOS but i guess that isn't possible unfortunately... maybe use a longpress menu to open it? would be great if a different solution was possible to open the switcher up
see news here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5404622#post5404622 to launch with Home key, but i guess i won't have answers.
I think Google should allow users to make custom shortcuts by clicking on buttons!
Ignore function does not work on some screen sizes!!!!
I'll have a look thursday! Be patient
Could you possible add a memory counter at like the corner somewhere to show how much free ram we have? Also, any way to make this look/work a bit more like the WebOS cards if possible?
As for resolution I notice you have a Hero, so I take it you made the res for Hero(my Eris has the same res as the Hero)?

This isn't entirely true.
Some apps need to be force killed.
Android takes care of this only when the situation is really dire.
Why waste the valuable RAM?
Let's say you use App "X" once a day, but it's a resource (memory + cpu) hungry app, like Maps and derivatives.
Now, this is an app which will figure in the active list, but some of them like remaining in the background. Have 5 of those, and your system will work at a crawl.
Now try killing that app. You can really feel the difference, especially if you're using 7201A based handsets (that's 528Mhz).
Take a look at com.eolwral.osmonitor.
IMO, the best task manager around. And it's free (as well as ad-free).
why not mail the author and share some ideas?
You do have a innovative approach to task management (ui-wise).
i don't know if anyone has the same problems, but since last update i keep getting force closes when trying to kill an app!
edit: dis- and reenabling kill popup fixed the problem. weird.

Thank for the feedback!
You are the only one people that I heard having this problem... Really strange but i am glad that Taskos work again!
Next time, send me the logcat so i will be able to correct the bug!
Yeah, it would be nice if we could use TaskOS by holding home... The normal Android switcher is so useless.
very nice app ... will be essential if you find a way to use as task switcher (longpress home)
could you maybe add the option to hide statusbar icon?
also kinetic scrolling would be very welcome
Inertia in scrolling: seem to be so hard to implement.... You will have to wait.
Long press home: Developpers don't have access to this! I will investigate with Custom ROM developers. Imagine all apps can acces home button and you press it!
Ability to remove statusbar icon: will be done in next update.
I think that I left a bug in previous update. Nobody told me and i just corrected this evening. Sorry for the inconveniance!
Short presentation video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9GUlAf5y8k
So does this software now have the ability to load via the home button?
Is there any app that makes the pop-up selection 9-12 programs? (OR a Home Long Press look-alike replacement)
If not, would changing this require modifying the Android source code? Or would an app be able to change this functionality? (Not sure if it's locked down etc)
I'm checking the code now...useful to have.
+1 for this. I've been starting to use it while im on the browser and i get a text, pretty useful

So it's definitely not something that is possible through an app then, correct?
Yes it should be, in fact the code to do this is in reloadButtons() in that file.
Someone can change launcher to direct the home button longpress at a custom handler to display 12 tasks.
I've got stuck with trying to make an assembly fix.
The 6 recent tasks are assigned to 6 hardcoded placeholders on the recent_apps_dialog window. That xml layout will need to be re-compiled and the new placeholder IDs need to be added in at line 720.
info:
jar: android.policy.jar
file: \com\android\internal\policy\impl\RecentApplicationsDialog.smali
lines: 12,14,4,646-720
I would really like to see this happen as well!
This would be a fantastic addition!

Is a thread for that home long press? I'm wondering what the point of selecting inside that menu accomplishes. Basically making people double click to select the app.

its for effect, and also with 15 loaded up and sifting through, 'could' make things easier for navigation, without the need for the use of the trackball.

Switching directly between apps is much faster using home long press than pressing home, opening the launcher, and finding the app repeatedly.

I must have girlie fingers then, lol. Hope it can be optional down the line, my initial thought was that you would be able to pull options for the app after selecting it and then hitting the menu button. Maybe like a quick task manager too force kill running apps.
That first line was supposed to say "is there a thread for the mod"

i think he meant of the addition of select then launch. my original statement on it still holds true. i personally dont like to use trackball through 15 apps highlighting each one, especially if there is one with more then word of line text and i want to see what it says.
maybe this will get configurable in settings along with the number of recent apps (which is on the todo list). we'll see...

Is anyone aware of a way to make all (or select) apps default to open in floating window mode instead of full screen?
I just got a Samsung keyboard dock and have set up some shortcuts to open frequently used apps but they open in full screen and I would rather they be in a window. Same with opening from the app drawer.
Thanks!

Thanks, yeah I'm using that and it has enabled me to put any app in a window which is great, but if you start one from the app drawer (or more importantly, from a keyboard shortcut) it still comes up full screen and I have to manually window it. Don't know of any app that can change the default window mode. Not sure if it's even possible with Android. I think it can only be done on each individual app, which is why it can only be done through shortcuts. Mulit window manager as well as Android itself can not differentiate one app from another. With Windows it can be done by using keywords. Try contacting the developers of Multi window manager to suggest it. You're not the only one who would love that feature.
What sucks is all of this should already be natively part of Android, including multi window. Not sure why it wasn't from the beginning. I'm guessing it used to be a limited memory issue.
I just thought of a possible workaround. You might be able to use "Tasker" and make profiles for individual apps to open a certain way or change the window mode automatically when opened
If you try it let me know what happened..

Yeah, I'm trying to see if I can displace my laptop for most of the things I do to run my business where I usually have a lot of smaller windows open and jump back and forth between them, minimizing when not in use. Apps opening in full screen mess up my flow haha...
I'll hit up the developers of Multi Window and see if they have any suggestions. Tasker... I suppose I could give it a shot; bought it a long time ago but never really delved into it. Something to mess with while watching the playoffs
Thanks for the tips, I'll report back.
Floating window shortcuts
I know this thread is kind of old, but you can do this with an app on the app store called "FW Shortcuts". You have to buy the pro version if you want to be able to create a shortcut for any app, but it is well worth it.
Hello Friends,
Just want to share with you another app - Air Command Shortcut: a shortcut app that invokes the Air Command menu. I initially showed this app a few weeks ago on this post video. This is initial BETA release.
Action Memo, Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window can now be launched with just a finger click but Scrapbooker still needs the Spen to draw a target window. When spen is inserted while clicking Scrapbooker, a preset app will open instead and when spen is detached, clicking Scrapbooker will function as normal - meaning you need to use your spen to draw a target window to be saved by Scrapbooker. A toast message will let you know when you need to use spen or not.
Pen Window will launched with a preset window size but if you bought my other app - PEN WINDOW LAUNCHER, clicking Pen Window will launched that instead so you can use your preferred window size and position.
Download it below.
Thank you @xperiacle

Awesome work bro..
wowww.. working great. keep it up.
I see someone created Air Command shortcut too (I posted mine yesterday ). Thats cool maybe you will have some better ideas how to make use of it. On topic, I noticed you have same issues that I had troubles with:
1) you change detach action (hint - restore it back).
2) you leave phone in 'Detached S Pen' state so if you open this app with finger (and you don't attach spen manually after that) it will trigger S Pen Keeper alert that you forgot to attach S Pen. (hint - I send attach intent to prevent it but maybe there is better solution).
Hope this helps.
So ..
How if you want to launch it with other apps ..
Like browser..
YouTube....etc.

It is an honour to have you here, Sir...you are indeed one of the great devs around. And THANKS for the tips.
Sorry, I know you posted first about the Air Command shortcut but I have been working on it for a few weeks now as you can see in my previous video link in the OP. I just never got to post the initial app because I am having some technical issues. I got most of the menu items working except scrapbooker which works partially for me due to system-level permission issues which I am still trying to fix without having to mod any system file and if possible without the need for root. Apart from that, it seems most are working. I will probably offer the user the option to change some of the menu items. So instead of Scrapbooker or S Finder, may be they would like to launch their favourite app instead. Again, thanks for all your work. Keep rocking.

What do you mean launch it with other apps? Do you mean change the menu items with like browser/youtube or launch the menu items at the same time launch other apps like browser/youtube in one click? If you mean both, yes it is possible but I am still trying to iron out some technical issues. The app in the OP doesn't include those options yet. It is just the basic shortcut app but the final release may or may not offer those options mentioned depending on how I would be able to fix some issues.
The thing is I am still exploring because I don't know what KitKat brings. It seems a lot has changed internally. I haven't tried it yet as I am waiting for my region's official release.
Anyway, I will update the one in the OP with some more features soon.

It cool that you are working on it too. I didn't imply anything when I said I posted it. Its not an original idea or something. I just wanted to point out issues that I had and see if you found better solutions. Keep up the good work :good:
I just updated Air Command Shortcut app with some fixes. Action Memo, Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window can now be opened with a Finger click. Scrapbooker still needs the spen but the app will launch a preset app when it detects that the spen is inserted. When it detects that the spen is detached Scrapbooker will launched as normal - meaning you need to use the spen to draw the window to save.
Just download it in the OP.
Great work again together with your Pen Window Launcher even better and your announcment is promising. One suggestio (?) I don´t use the Browser, i use chrome but his is peronal tase. Is it technicaly possible to choose what shortcut i want?
Edit: And another question. Is it possible to link the Pen Window to the Pen Window Drawer of the Pen Window Launcher instead of Pen Window Lancher itself so the Pen Window Launcher Notification wont start?

Yes I used the default browser app as the preset app when Scrapbooker menu item is clicked (when spen status is inserted) but it definitely can be changed once I finished the settings UI. It is also possible to launch your favourite apps together with any of the other menu items in the air command.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will modify the app so it will launch pen window launcher with the pen drawer directly without notification. It's just a small change, I might be able to update it in a while.
And by the way, I already uploaded a new version of Pen Window Launcher in the Play Store. @and2 Could you test and let me know any feedback. Thanks.
Hey @xperiacle ,
First, Thank You for this app, Then I wanna ask if there is some good news about finger Scrabooking.
Thanks for the great App. Is it possible in the Pro Version so see the app icons instead of defaults in the drawer "My Air Command"?

I reformatted phone and installed phantom rom again. After restoring apps with titanium, I got the fc again, indicating that it was a problem related to a specific app. So I tried stopping some apps. Eventually, I found out that it was wanam xposed recent update that was causing the fc. The new features added were causing the problem. So, I disabled the new features on wanam xposed and now there is no fc problem. Thanks.
great app so far i have seen.
can we have this app on note n7000?

Could you describe which of the features you disabled to get it to work?

Not working for me.
When i open the app, this happens
But it works fine with the SPen as usual, when pulling it out or pushing the button.
EDIT-
Still not working after a clean rom flash and data wipe, thought i'd better make sure as i had removed many system apk's when i tried before. Any news on this?
Where can I get the donate version to access setting?
