Hi everyone,
I'm trying to play with them miracasting dongles for a project I'm working on.
Just got myself a dongle from ebay, seems to work (producing video). However, upon attaching with Screen Cast (under display options) it works for 10-12 seconds and automatically disconnects without reconnecting.
Happened the same with a different Nexus 5 and a Nexus 7.
All devices were rooted, all have stock on them (4.4.2).
I've read somewhere that this issue might happen as part of a DRM mechanism (at Samsung Galaxy devices). When the Flash Counter is bigger than 0' the exact same smypthom happens.
Although I'm stocked, I did flash my phones (had to, they came with 4.4 and I wanted 4.4.2). CWM etc.
Anyone seen this issue? overcame it? couldn't find a lot of details about this in Nexus devices ..
anyone?
I've got a nexus 4 and it's also not working with a Samsung Smart TV. TV says Connected but it cancels before i See anything.
BUT:
I found a way to get miracast working on Nexus 7 (2012) (unoffical) and it works. But here the TV shows me a pin code which i have to enter on the tablet..
Anyone solution? It cant be true that this works unoffically on a device which doesnt support it and doesnt works on a device which supports it...

I think i know why. WiDi is secured with HDCP, but if you flash your phone, HDCP won't work anymore. So go to Settings → Developer Settings → HDCP checking → Never use HDCP checking. Now it should work (it now works at mine ?) good luck

~ EDIT ~
Install offical AOSP and DONT ROOT and it will work. Miracast/WiDi doen't work on rooted devices.

* or if your devices are rooted, install TWRP, mount /system, go to Advanced -> File Manager. Then delete /system/app/Superuser.apk (delete supersu / superuser apk file) and rename /system/xbin/su to "sup" or sth. So you don't have to root it again.

Sorry, this is inaccurate. Miracast (which is very different from Chromecast) DOES in fact work on rooted devices. I have one in my car (going to my head unit) that's worked just fine on both my nexus 4 and 5 rooted. Maybe Google is using root to try and lock down Chromecast somehow but I'd double check that as well. I think koush's Mirror app may even require it and I believe it works with Chromecast. I'd spindle check that though. But Miracast certainly works with root.

im not sure which s voice you are using but i do recall samsung making s voice faulty for devices that arent the SGIII so this could be the issue you are seeing. im not positive on what you are using but if its the S Voice apk to my knowledge it no longer works... for now

okay ill come clean with this one , usually i dont like typing solutions cause it takes time but the thing is i have been on XDA developers for more then 2 years and yet i still dont have 10 posts , i need to make a request So i guess youre lucky . Here is the step by step
1 - There is a superuser problem so you have to flash the SU fix in remics thread and update SU binary
2 - Once you have root access , install root explorer or 'explorer' (how it is called now )
3 - once you have root explorer installed, open it and it should display 'root access granted' , if not you repeat steps 1 and 2
4 - browse to system and there should be a file named build.prop , delete that and DONT CLOSE ROOT EXPLORER YET
5 -there is another file identical to the build.prop ,( its called build.prop S voice something ) rename that to build.prop and you should have S voice working
Svoice not working

I have tried almost everything and still the S-voice does not work. Does anyone have a solution? :crying:
Don't know if this means much, but just read today that Samsung is in court with Apple over s-voice and other things. If they shut down the service, would that be causing the problem?

I thought s voice wasn't done by samsung...atleast that's what I remembered in the privacy agreement the first time you open the app...and if they are suing Samsung for svoice...why aren't they suing the oher 20+ developers that made siri wannabe apps? Ohhh apple when will you learn that suing everyone for stupid reasons is only hurting your sales and making us android users hate you even more...
Anyways, try wiping cache and dalvic cache in cwm...that might help-(wiping cache and dalvic cache does not wipe any personal data or saved games...at least it shouldn't...)

Install super su
Update binary if it asks
Then check root!
If still not working re root it!
That should solve the problem if it still persists

So I Installed the rescan media root app and it requested superuser permissions. I hit allow and the prompt on the app was green. Also, it stated at the bottom that the app had been granted superuser permissions. Does that show that I am properly rooted?

I guess yes.........so just try to update binary of superuser app....if you face any issue and then a reboot should solve whatever issue you have !
This app doesn't work on rooted smartphones, before I had a trick using SuperSU (Option to disable superuser) and after that it worked, But now even doing this trick it still say's I'm using a rooted smartphone, so I can't watch Live TV , Does someone now how to hide root from this app?
Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated!

Yes, but it say's it's not compatible with the Yelo app because it uses a special method to detect root or something like that, so it will not work.

It was way easier before, Then you just needed to disable Superuser in SuperSU settings, But since the latest version it detects root via the native library (built with Android NDK)
deleted
i DISabled su under the shell directory in xprivacy... the first time it didn't work either, but now it does (i might have uninstalled it and then reinstalled it while blocking su at first startup... i didn't disable anything else
i'm rooted and using supersu, i'm on latest stock on both devices, and i use xposed
i hope it works for you too...

It didn't work for me either, so i was testing all kind of scenario's and SUCCESS I have live yelo tv on my rooted kitkat
The exposed library actually works but the yelo app, caches the root detection once at the beginning.
Uninstalling has no effect because when you uninstall and re-install it still finds this previous detection from somewhere.
I made it work by using titanium backup and there clearing all application data, after that you have to re-input all your credentials and it will tell you "Eerste keer laden, gelieve te wachten" and tadaaa there is live tv
I hope this works for you too now

so you followed the youtube movie,
1. renamed build.prop,
2. Opened titanium backup
3. searched in the apps the Yelo app
4. cleared the data
5. opened SuperSU,
6. disabled Superuser
7. Opened Yelo + entered credentials
Not working here that way. it is also a rooted kitkat.

You need xposed + root talk after that you need a reboot.
Then you open titanium, search for yelo app and delete cache.
Now you open help, re_enter credentials and it should work

Ok, let's check what I have, maybe you can find a difference
I have omega ROM for Galaxy Note 3 based on Android 4.4
SuperSU 1.93 -> must be enabled to be able to hide the root (strange but don't forget it)
Xposed installer 2.4.1
xposed Framework:
app process 47
xposedbridge 42 (After update you need to restart)
Xposed modules:
Check that Rootcloack 1.4 is installed and enabled (Reboot required again)
Wanam Exposed 2.8.4
Can you check this all ?
Afterward -> delete all yelo cache/files by using Titanium

I give up... tried almost everything but nothing
Disclaimer: I typically modify to meet my own needs, on my own time, for my own device. This means that it might not be a mod meant for everyone, nor has it been thoroughly tested by anyone but myself. Use at your own risk.
Description: Modifies framework-res.apk in /system/framework to disable the loading of CarrierIQ on start-up as well as shrink the margins on the navigation bar for a little more screen real estate. This has only been tested and used on Stock AT&T LG G2 4.4 KitKat.
Link: https://db.tt/IoEgdIsr
Instructions: Back-up your current framework-res.apk in /system/framework then replace it with this one.
Notes:
CarrierIQ no longer shows 7 running processes via System Tuner on boot. To me, this indicates it is no longer being loaded. Otherwise, if you want, you can use System Tuner -> System -> Android System [Details] -> uncheck each of 7 CarrierIQ processes to do it manually.
This is a simple dimens.xml modification. Nothing major.
After replacing file with root explorer I went into a boot loop... Now I am afraid that I am going to have to completely restore my phone.
I know this is pretty straight forward but your file didn't work.
need to know if anyone was successful with this mod yet. do not want to go into a bootloop or force closes.
Also waiting for others to confirm this working first.

This work perfect for me, here how i did it
First backup my framework apk
second i copied the mod framework apk to system folder
then i set 644 permission for it
finally i move and replace it to framework folder
restart rightaway and it work
thanks OP for the mod file
btw maybe you should shrink the navbar a little less, it way too thin in my opion

This works great. Use root explorer and set permissions. Don't forget to make a nandroid backup if you can.
Download the apk from OP, then:
1. I copied over the framework after renaming it. (I just added a 2 at the end)
2. Then I set permissions (I just checked all the boxes... why not). At this point it would be a good idea to backup your original framework apk in case you want to restore.
3. Then I named it properly and over wrote the original (removed the 2)
4. I rebooted.
I somewhat disagree with the post above, I wouldn't mind it being a little smaller.
I am running this on the D800 running the androiduser's power user D802 base ROM.
@burningembers can you make one that will get rid of the volume and brightness sliders? Thanks!

thanks for this mod. I'll try this tonight after I flash the rom. I wouldn't mind a smaller nav bar too if you ever think of making another one.
This is a great mod, but remember that you cannot FULLY remove Carrier IQ from the ATT ROM. You can disable the services and prevent them from running which is what this does, and maybe it stops it all and maybe it doesnt IDK. But there is carrier IQ embedded into the UI code, the keyboard code, the messaging app code, etc. The only way to truly not have any Carrier IQ on your phone is to not run an ATT base ROM.
Thats weird cause i moved the framework mod into system/framework and set the permissions to rw--r--r and my screen started force closing and when i rebooted it stayed on the lg logo. Will try again later tonight
If you use adb you could push then reboot or if you're on a rom that has recovery you could create a zip.

It worked perfectly for me when I did it the way above. I also went back to the original framework using this method. I'm not sure what you are doing wrong but at this point just use xposed (the Chinese leak found in the general section) and the G2 xposed module. That's what I am doing and I have a small nav bar.
Don't be mad at us, we were just reporting something we did that worked. If a few of us got it working and you did the problem is somewhere on your end not ours. So don't blame us, we gain nothing from lying. It may just be the ROM you are using
EDIT: it appears they closed that Chinese xposed thread for some reason. You may want to check out why but here is the link to the apk http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mgFNFc8 I haven't had any issues but it may cause issues with the lg launcher. Use this at you own risk... Good luck

Good luck

Hi,
I'm trying to get a bootanimation to work. DL here: https://mega.co.nz/#!isQEkKoS!2Dyfuf7TI2GePbMV11N83TR2hrpsCKfkdud4WNMaY90
It is originally created by ansebovi using my upscaled version of this .gif, however it stops around the 85th frame and freezes the phone completely.
In order to boot the phone again, I have to mount /system/ through TWRP and delete the bootanimation.zip file using the file manager of TWRP.
I've read through this thread over on droidforums regarding how to create a bootanimation and modified the desc.txt accordingly. I've also tried the troubleshooting steps described in the same thread.
Now I'm looking for anyone well versed in the art of bootanimations to help me understand and fix this problem I have on my hands.
Thank you in advance!
EDIT: Upload to the forum crapped out thrice in a row now. Mega link added instead.
Not sure about your freezing problem but you can try this
Boot Animation Factory http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678540
or use Rom Toolbox in the playstore interface tab \ Bootanimations
Effective and easy.

Boot Animation Factory still produces that freezing problem.
Have not yet tried the Rom Toolbox method though.
Your Boot Ani on mega works fine on my phone. I get 3 loops bump and into the OS. Are you setting permissions correctly? rw-r-r

Yes. Where did you place yours? data/local/ or /system/media/ ?
Could it also have something to do with kernel / ROMs?
System media

Weird,I placed it in the same place, with rw- r-- r-- permissions and all..
Maybe the difference really is in the kernel/ROM...
I use PA Beta 4 and ElemnetalX 0.36. I suppose its probably more kernel related if at all..
Which kernel so you use?
Im currently beanstalk w/ uber. Impatiently waiting for googles upgrade. Your probably right, however I've never had issues with boot animations unless on a stock samsung kernel.
Anyone out there have issues with elemental and pushing bootanimations?

It is a really cool bootanimation. For giggles have you tried any other bootanis?

I have not, that might be worth looking into. Credit for the .gif goes to /r/loadingicon over on reddit.

I tried it with this animation and it booted perfectly, so I suppose that it's not purely kernel related, must be some weird interaction between the ElementalX kernel and my bootanim...
