SMS Backup - Alternate way? - General Questions and Answers

Can I backup my SMS and MMS simple by backing up mmssms.db found in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/? The reason I'm asking this is because TB and other SMS takes about 10-15 minutes to just restore.
Also, if I do just backup that file, can I put it into other ROMs (AOSP, TW, etc.) ?

[Q] Where are internal SMS messages stored on the HTC EVO?

RE: [Q] Where are internal SMS messages stored on the HTC EVO?
ALSO, are the messages stored in a sequential file or database? IF SO, is there a way to access this file (or database) to copy or repair the existing structure?
I currently have Android 2.1 installed and it appears the SMS messages (or database) has some type of corruption which prohibits SMS BACKUP & RESTORE, or MY BACKUP or LOOKOUT or TITANIUM BACKUP from saving all my sms messages.
The developer of SMS BACKUP & RESTORE reviewed my LOG COLLECTOR file and said there is some corruption which is causing a DISK I/O error, and therefore I cannot save my messages.
ANY SUGGESTIONS on how to:
..(1) save my sms messages,
..(2) repair the potential sms corruption,
..(3) use TITANIUM BACKUP to ATTEMPT a restore of only sms/mms messages?
THANKS IN ADVANCE,
/Mark

SMS Backup App which restores only SMS wich are not already on the phone

Hey guys.
Caused by Samsungs GREAT settings to delete SMS in conversations > 200 SMS i have lost 2500 SMS on my GalaxyNote after the first sms restore.
I have a backup of all SMS before the GalaxyNote and would make a backup of today (maybe with another tool which can handle sms which are on my phone twice)
I want to join them together to get all my sms back together.
How can i do this?
First of all: I am currently using this SMS Backup tool:Click
Is there any SMS Backup Tool wich only restores SMS which are NOT on the device? I dont want to have some of my SMS twice on my device.
My Idea was to delete all sms, then i restore the BackupFile from before the GalaxyNote with my SMS Tool right now and then i restore the current backup.
I hope you understand my Situation.
PS: Mixing up both XML BackupFiles is insane because i have 3500+ SMS and they are all numbered consecutively in both files.
Go SMS Pro, has build in backup & restore
and when you restore, it will only restore the missing SMS
on a side note i also use SMS Backup + (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync)
but it will restore everything, causing duplicates
but that's not why i use it, i like that one because it can log calls / times, and SMS to google account and calendar, so it creates a good log of daily use, and tracking, is great for business when you are trying to remember customers calls and when it was done
My Backup is a good app for this

You wont like this, but two considerations:
- The setting remained unchanged, its Google/Android in general, not Samsung
- Its caused by you, by not paying attention, by not being prepared, not by Samsung nor Google.
This post is in no way intended to offend, I just cant stand this spitting around BS because one is enraged bc he fukkered up and blames everyone and everybody except himself. I mean this in a general, not a personal way. But it does touch you slightly, though

Backup/Restore of Group Messages

Is there an app or method for backing up and restoring group messages correctly? I currently use MyBackup Pro for backing up data and apps. The issue I run into though, is with restoring sms messages - particularly group messages. It restores everything as individual sms threads based on the contact. It merges individual threads with group threads. Is there a way to avoid this? A way to have them restored exactly how they were when they were backed up?

MMS Backup and Restore Solutions?

Hey. So we all have to switch phones are factory reset sometimes and I personally like to copy over my MMS and SMS from my old phones to the new. I use SMS backup + to handle SMS which it does quite well (a bit slow on restores but it's understandable) but my current MMS backup solution, mybackup pro isn't perfect. So you can use it to backup almost anything but I exclusively use it for MMS. Anyway, my issue is that when I restore MMS my group chats are messed up. In the group chat thread, all of my messages load but, the other people's doing end up in that thread. They go into thier own personal thread which makes everything a little messy. Does anyone have a good MMS backup and restore solution?
Thanks, Triguy.

SMS and MMS messages restore to Pixel 3

I'm moving from a Note 4 to the Pixel 3. I've got most data transferred, but there is a problem with group text messages.
I'm using the stock Android Messages app on both phones.
I used MyBackupPro to save and restore the messages. It appears to mostly work, but for group conversations, only the parts I sent are part of the restored conversation. Other non-group texts and MMS contain both sides of conversations.
Is there a different approach I should use to correctly transfer my SMS and MMS data?
I used SMS Backup & Restore, but I do note have group texts, so cannot confirm it would work.
Been using SMS backup and restore with a combination of Titanium Backup for years. Works 99% of the time. There is a new app called Migrate. Does it all in one with a flash able zip in TWRP for restore. Haven't actually used it but, looks promising.
Thanks for the replies.
I repeated the transfer using Titanium Backup. This method worked correctly, so apparently the issue is with MyBackup Pro.
