Simple sd question

Can you access your Mini sd card while on the phone or just the phone sd. I'm curios what the point of having a extra sd card is if I can't use it on my phone. I download programs say they can then I can't seem to get it.

YES you can access your external sd card from your phone......lol
that would not make much sense if you could not, what is the problem your having - is the card not showing up in your file explorer. how big is the card (32 and under should be fine)

Its sixteen. The phone shows It but when I transfer files to my sd it stays on the phone. Do I need format it? I only seem have access to phone sd

Like in titanium back up I got sd card and ext sd what heck. If there is a way to combine the phone sd and ext sd let me know. If there is a thread on this link me please its hard browsing on my phone

OK at start it says very fast can't access sd card because security hope this means its a easy fix.

What are u using to move and copy. There should be no issue. ONLY time I have seen that is when the card is corrupt or not compatible

I have all the normal root programs. There are apps on it but I just don't get why it says can't read sd for security at boot plus it shows sd card and a ext sd card. Could my issue be because of my Rom boneskeeter or from root. Let me ask this. What takes bulk memory because my sd card is half full my ext sd card is one gig full but if I unmount it my apps gone. So maybe I'm just confused about Whats going on. I can't seem move anything big to the ext sf card. Only apps. Sigh. Maybe I should delete all backups of titanium back up redo it then make sure there on as card. System memory which like 500mb . USB storage which two gigs then sd storage which is five gigs full and twelve Max then ext sd is one gig full Max sixteen. I wonder what wrong. Once I got a computer it should be easy. Some numbers off but hopefully you get point. Ext sd has have apps but just one gig. Why is there a phone sd card and what's USB then. I'm noob confused trying figure out with just phone hard.

honestly. i have tried to understand just a piece of what you are babbling about in this thread and have come up with nada.
can you explain IN DISTINGUISHABLE ENGLISH, what it is you are asking?
you want to be able to use your external sd? so use it. move your music/videos/pictures to it and use it.
what apps do you think need to use it?

Miui mount memory problem

My samsung galxsy slc, with MIUI rom, cant see 8gb fat32 sd external card, with gingerbread i can see 8gb sd card and in miui no.... My phone memory is in sdcard memory...

Hi man,
Using Windows's Sh1t tools or using *nix system format your SD using:
( under linux )
Code:
#!/bin/sh
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sd** # where ** are your sd's proc
fdisk /dev/sd* # * are your main device, like sdb or sdc
mkdosfs -F 32 /dev/s*** # where *** are sdb1 or sdc1
Insert again your sd into sd slot
Have u applied some init.d tweaks? like thunderbolt or same?

Isnt this my problem
I have no format problem but mount problem.... my telefon muont internel memory in phone my internal sd in sd card an my sd ist mount...i cant install app... my telephone in memory sd have internal sd memory but if i go in external sd in root explorer i find my 8gb sd... but i cant use it for app and ohter ....

Which miui u used ?
Try sd swap by ganesh.
It swap ur 8gb sd with ur int sd.
search b4 post. This a common issue fr 9003 miui rom, u r wasting xda server cap.

i use 2.2.3.7 miui ...i used one of swaps sd but no change... is possible that i download a wrong swap sd,,, whem i reboot my phone at a start sd mount problem

Nygel7 : the problem imho is your sdcard is formated with 1 partitions fat32 size 2 gb, i image you use windows, sorry i dont know how format under windows, never'used it

LoL.
Just remove the SD Card while the phone is on and re-insert it.
THen, reboot the phone and do the same thing!

You tried it when the phone is switched on?
Because, I had the same problem.
A 32-GB SD card was nt being recognized and I did this a couple of times.
The phone lagged,but, the card was recognized at last

backup your file in recovery mode.. then wipe cache and factory reset.. if your sdcard works just restore back ur data in recovery mode..

Move app data(int to ext sd),patch external sd card loction in aokp,cm9/10 etc roms

Hey for long i was having a problem with limited space in my sd card.
Most of it was occupied by the huge game data of games like real racing, shadow gun or other gameloft games which do not support external sd card or these navigation apps with huge data of maps etc. Or any app which use ur internal sd card space.:banghead:
And i have little knowledge if scripting and creating one to run with every boot.
So i came across this app which solved all my problems with no issue at all.
I didnt develop it merely came to it on my search but i think it is worth sharing.
It basically bind ur internal sd card space where these apps orignally save the data, with the external sd card path where u later on move it.
It simple easy and effective.

Jst installed dual boot kernel and using two jb n tw lrq... Used this app to patch the external sd card with the orignal path in jb roms by the third script..
The two scripts before tht are used to tranfer all the data frm internal sd to external as well as patching it to run the apps..

If u were having problem related to script not mounting at boot this version should fix that
if u were having problem of entries dissapearing on boot In preferences check "alternate dbase mgmt" and try again

SDCARD format ( writeprotect ) ISSUE :(

Today i took my sdcard out my phone put it into a sdcard reader formatted it and wrote a disk image (.img ) to the sdcard and installed chrome on my PC. After i re formatted it put all my stuff back on and put it back into my phone. later on i had to format sdcard again so put it back in sdcard reader went to format but windows said it was write protected but its not. so put it back into my phone formatted it and then went ahead and mounted the sdcard through my phone to pc went to format and also said its write protected so went to format with my phones settings and it formats it what the hell windows cant format but my phone can :S very confusing can anyone elaborate on this and help me fix this issue thanks.
Also 4EXT recovery lets me partition aswell but when mounted still says write protected on windows so looks like ONLY my phone has R/W access to the sdcard
BTW its a class 10 16Gb

There might be glitches when it comes to PC. Have your pc ever been connected to other external storage types. Because my external hard drive is named, lets call it A, when I connect my phone to PC as external storage its A as well because its the same USB port. Try changing USB ports and let it reinstall.

Are you sure that your FAT32 partition was flagged as primary? Or worse case, did you repartition it so as to not have a FAT32 partiton and just a Linux-swap and an EXT?

Did the pc recognize your phone but you can't access the storage? Or nothing happen when you connect the phone to PC via usb?

yes.....pc recognize my phone but I can't access the storage
in phone when i press connect to pc , it tried and then it faild without any massage.....

I guess it's the driver's problem. Try to reinstall the driver for your phone.
Maybe you can use apps like Airdroid to transfer files if the problem is still there.

In swapper which one you are using > swap partition or swap file ?? In your link they have used swap file which creates a swap file in your primary fat partition only and not in swap partition you created in your SD card.

Then you have disable swapper and reboot to get mass storage on PC as swapper won't allow to unmount sd card when it is using swap file .
