Root Access Apps - General Topics

We all know that if you root your device and flash a ROM, you get a couple of root access apps thrown in for "good measure".......
But which root access apps do you install post flash that aren't strictly speaking necessary, but which you find useful?.....
For me, it's......
Goo Manager.....gotta keep that phone up to date....
HC-kTool.......EFS needs to be backed up....
MD5 Checker...... Gotta make sure that ROM you're about to flash is OK....
Power Menu app.....gets you to recovery or download mode without mashing buttons......
Root Explorer.....prefer it to CM's file manager......
SD Maid.....getting rid of the junk...
SMS Backup and Restore.....need to stop the wife becoming suspicious when all my text messages disappear..... lol....
Terminal Emulator....who needs ADB or a PC lol....
Titanium Backup......the single most useful app to have on a rooted phone.....
ViPER4Android......the best sound enhancement app.....period....
Wakelock Detector.....see what nasties are stopping my phone from deep sleeping......
XDA App......OBVIOUSLY....lol
So what about you guys?......

For me, the best root access apps are: AdAway, BusyBox, Titanium Backup, Quick Boot, WifiKill, WebKey, SCR, CCSWE, LMT Launcher.

Adaway I've found blocks ability to send MMS messages on 4.4.2, quick fix is just to revert hosts file. Other than that is my number 1 root app.

Lol...that's not a problem for me.....my monthly plan doesn't include picture messages......

And another thing you say that i post warez.,..
I can only post warez if i would place a free download link for a paid app
So i could even post a play store link without being warned by someone.
I have no link and so it´s not your business to talk about my posts in a negative and hopeless way!

How to uninstall DSPManager

well as the title says, i have been disappointed with the volume of the Nexus s and i was pointed towards this app.

WOW. If you guys suffered the same as me, 99p well spent right there!
Now i dont need DSPManager though.... So how do i uninstall it?
Thanks
You can do it in Titanium Backup, pretty sure there are no ill effects, I used the Freeze option to remove it from my Nexus.

Hmm im relucntant to use Titanium, i remember cyanogen himself saying it was bad :/ Maybe im just paranoid
I guess you could use Modaco's Eezy Freezy, but I've not used that myself.
You can use root explorer and just delete the apk file. Think that's the best way if you don't want to use any other Apps to delete it. You can also use ADB to uninstall it.

i also removed the DSP with Titanium, it working fine,no problems so far after 1 month

If the dsp came with the rom and it's uninstallable through android's built in app manager then you can delete it in
/system/app
That's where all the system apps are. Make sure you mount /system first so you can delete an apk.

thanks i try it on my phone now it killed both speaker and headset bass asnt editable...
found this thread very helpful. I am running Beanstalk on my nexus 5 and was having issues with DSP manager. Any time I wanted to listen to music from my Google Music account I would get a "DSP manager stopped working" pop up ... and even if you hit OK it keeps popping for every song.
Here is how I fixed it.... used Tweaker 2 to uninstall DSP manager and downloaded an Equalizer from the play store. Works like a charm now. Thanks XDA community ... saved the day again:good:

[Q] how do i backup apps as .apk files?

i would like to backup apps to a .APK file so i can put them on the computer .....TB (titanium backup) doesn't seem to put them in just a .apk so how can i do this?
id like to be able to use "adb install _______.apk" to put apps on a phone all at once without needing to buy TB as i don't have the money....
I just found an app that does that this morning. It's called apkExtractor by Kim Heeseok. I'd post a link, but you need 8 total posts before you can do that.

*sigh* can you put the link in a PM? or just put spaces between the parts so it doesn't register as a link, i can put it back together when i get it.
Here (delete brackets around https and .com):
[h][t][t][p]://play.google[.com]/store/apps/details?id=net.sylark.apkextractor
Edit: Just as a note, inside of the app, a long press of the app you want to export will give you the option to export it as an apk. It will be exported to "/sdcard/AppManager/yourappname.apk".

you can download it
Titanium Backup DOES back up apks, they just have them compressed...IIRC, you'll see the appname.apk.gz
You could also use something like ES File Explorer, which has a backup function. Other apps have similar capabilities.

Uninstall Titanium Backup (system app)

So I installed a CM9 ROM and it has Titanium backup pre-installed as a system app, how do I TOTALLY remove it? I tried deleting it from /system/app. Where are the rest of it's files?
question...why are you trying to delete it?
And after deleting it from system/apps what other files are you taking about?

interesting. titanium is pretty much the only app with enough power to uninstall completely most other apps. its like what would you use to clean the inside of a bottle of bleach? different bleach? lol
also not sure what you mean by 'rest of its files'? delete it from system/app/ and then reboot.
Have you tried Links2SD, it also has super powers similar to Titanium Backup, and will allow you change it from a system app to an user app, and then to uninstall it.

You realize that Poweramp music player is not a root app don't you? You only root access to use Poweramp if you are using the cracked version of the app which we should not encourage since a dev such as the one who developed Poweramp, such a nice app (and the best in its category) deserves some appreciation for his effort
