Hey guys,
So I got a quite annoying problem and I already spent quite some time searching the forums and google without results. Either the solutioins didn't work or the cases I found were unsolved.
Anyway, here is the story.
I have a xperia tipo (st21i) and I rooted it and unlocked the bootloader and flashed several kernels and roms to find the one I'm most comfortable with.
I used: CM 10.0, paranoid android, super jelly bean and performa v4 in case this is of any interest.
I decided to go with cm 10.0 and it worked fine until after one reboot suddenly my SIM card was unrecognized and it said I should restart the phone with a valid SIM card. I flashed different ROM's and went back to stock now but the problem persists. I really ran out of ideas and since I'm not really skilled and rich of knowledge beyond the point of flashing and the rough structure of android I'm a bit helpless here.
Any help is really appreciated and thanks in advance
P.S.: first post
I don't know if it would work but you can try it
Try flashing ics ftf it should work fine..
follow this may work
first flash the original .ftf file then flash cm10 :fingers-crossed:
This happened to me aswell, but it was a while ago, when I wasn't even rooted yet. Went to the shop to ask about it from them and they said SIMs can go outdated or something.. They gave me a new one and it was fixed. But if you decide to ask them about this, make sure you are on stock ROM and locked bootloader, also unrooted. Because if not, your device isn't under warranty, and they can blame it on that

So you are saying it's due to my SIM? It still works perfectly fine in my other phone (a samsung galaxy xcover s5690). The phone was used when I got it and I don't have any receipt or anything so I don't have warranty on my phone anyway right? Should I still visit a shop?
I also tried ICS and it didn't work either. I got the ftf file from that link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/development/rom-official-st21a-america-firmwares-t2302630
I tried flashing different kernels and roms already even after it refused to take my SIM but nothing helped. It didn't fell down or anything so I don't think anything went loose inside. Could it still be due to hardware failure?
heeey
I got almost the same problem
few weeks ago i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/development/sony-xperia-tipo-dual-t2594389
about making custom roms works tipo dual by making it 1 sim not 2 well its ok with me so i used it and all was perfect
custom rom - working gsm - fast - smooth like i dont need anything else
but yesterday well my annoying gf was spamming calls while i was sleeping so i turned airplane mode On
then after i wake up i turned it off and suddenly the device can't recognize the sim any more the same problem this dude got
so i tried everything like tryin to swap the sim place - installing new rom - restore my old stock rom - hard reset - testing the sim - so i tried installing the last update stock ftf which is 11.0.A.6.5 i think it's like this using flash tools anyway it worked and the problem is solved now the phone is workin with no problems u should try it

I tried other phones aswell, it was working on them, but not on my phone. Weird, but yeah, I suggest you go visit them at the shop, they can probably help you out.

Hi, I followed the procedure for rooting and flashing galaxy s2 gt-i9100 perfectly. I also downloaded the files for my device only and not any other device. The problem started 2 days back when I was on resurrection remix jelly bean rom with Aliyah kernel. I started to randomly not recieve calls. My friends complained that it would go straight to voicemail. So I took it to the service center and they told me the motherboard was screwed. They installed a new motherboard and the phone was working fine until I flashed cyanogenmod 10 with their own kernel. The problem reappeared. Is the problem because I installed the rom or what?

Never heard of such a thing, I do not believe that a custom ROM that was compiled for the correct phone model and flashed correctly is likely to screw up the motherboard. Make the phone act funny such as losing calls? Sure, that could happen and could be the ROM or kernel or firmware, but the motherboard? I don't believe so.
I would flash the stock ROM and kernel back and see if the problem occurs again before drawing any other conclusions.
Have you tried switching baseband?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
It could be a bad flash, an incompatible Rom, a conflicting app, bad signal or just bad Carma
I too doubt it can affect a motherboard physically. You can brick your phone when installing if something goes extremely wrong (very rare these days), but the physical board should be just fine.
Did you flash back to stock before taking it to the service center? They might not even be able to read the phone's software if it's not stock.
Most will just send you away if they see you have been flashing roms :-/
I hope it was under warranty, because if they "replaced the Mother board" on your dime, I think you got hosed. It worked fine, because they set it back to Stock.
I think they saw that you flashed a custom ROM and just reversed it to stock and told you they changed the motherboard cause i doubt it is the custom ROM fault.....just yesterday i rooted and flashed such a device and works fine
Maybe its even the baseband version the problem.....once a rom didnt booted up.on a galaxy 5 and after a changed it the device runned well
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk 2
Maybe the new custom rom found other cell site for you always check the network and signal.
Anyway the carrier was just messing with about the motherboard they dislike custom roms.
i flashed back to the offical firmware and the problem still was there.
So I originally rooted my S3 using odin and a stock verizon software followed by using ez bootload unlock, ez recovery, and clockwork mod. I used the custom rom cyanogen mod, and eventually continued to update those roms when they rolled out the OTA updates. When the latest update came out on the 18th I noticed an issue with my contacts. Due to this I reverted to the 16th rom, but something went terribly wrong. At this time I tried re-rooting, tried different types of rooting and got my device working along with my contacts back, but it rendered my sim card useless. I tried everything I could find on the internet. I finally covered my tracks and took it to the verizon store. They replace the sim card, but it still didn't work. They replaced my device, and me being dumb I rooted it again. Same original rooting that worked the first time. It worked at first, but then the same issue occurred. I'm not sure what to do, I can't go back to verizon again. They will expect something this time. It makes no sense. The hardware is not an issue, there is some data error somewhere. PLEASE HELP!!!
TLDR; Crazy weird data issue maybe? Whoever can solve this will be the House of Android rooting.

Why don't you try to Odin a pre-rooted Verizon stock can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436 to see if it addressed both our your issues?
I just had some major issues with this as well. There is something wrong with the nightly versions of CM 10.1.
Like you - I flashed CM 10.1 12/18 and found that my data was not working. I then searched this forum and found that other users were having the no data issue as well. I decided that I would do the same and flash back to an earlier CM 10 release from December, but the update did not go as expected. Due to going 10.1 to 10 I had to wipe data/cache/dalvik. At this point I got CM 10 reinstalled, but the phone came up with NO cell coverage. I went to System Settings -> About -> Status and found that the phone was no longer registering my cellular network (Verizon) or phone number. My IMEI data was dead.
Luckily in my case I had already made backups of my IMEI data per this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852255
I restored my IMEI and reflashed CM 10 12/16. Everything is now working as expected. Your issue sounds identical to mine - I just spent half the day fighting with the exact same issue. I definitely learned my lesson about staying so current with the NIGHTLY builds for day-to-day non-dev use. I knew it before, it just never bit me like this.
Anyways, I hope this information helps you somewhat. Good luck!

You most likely lost you imei/min or something, you can check in settings>about phone>status. Easy way to correct it is to flash a older stock ICS image and use the reprovision code. Flash this in odin then type this in the dialer *2767*3855# and that should fix ya back up. Flashing anything carries a risk of dropping your imei but it happens much more on AOSP roms.
To start of, I have been into rooting, installing custom ROMs and everything regarding it for quite a while but never ran into a problem like this. After Love posted his MIUI V5 I downloaded it and installed it. When it booted up I couldn`t unlock my SIM card due to a resolution error, you can`t see the "OK" nor "0" button. Then I switched to the Paranoid Android ROM ported and it booted up successfully. I went into options and changed settings regarding interface from "Phone mode" to "Phablet mode" as much as I remember it was the only thing I have done... Then when I had to reboot the phone, when it booted up, I inserted my PIN, but it showed something like "SIM card not inserted" and there was a popup which allowed me to reboot the phone. Now I can`t do anything about the problem. Tried switching back to the stock firmware and there I can unlock the SIM card without the "Reboot" prompt but still have no 3G access nor access to my contacts. I am asking you if you know anything about such a problem and if you have a fix for it. I also tried inserting a SIM from another phone, same problem- its not my SIM that is causing the problem. I think that it could do something with the radio, perhaps a component got corrupted somehow. Would really appreciate your help!
i also have the same problem on tipo caused from touchwiz rom, i am afraid only sony center are fixing this problem
I have spoken with my bro that has a Sony Erricsson Xperia X8 about the problem. He had the exactly same problem and he tried the same things as I did, but managed to fix the problem by relocking the bootloader and again unlocking it for further ROM installing. I will try and keep you updated.
Still nothing, nothing seems to help. Not even relocking the bootloader. Come on devs, can anyone at least try to assist us here? There seems to be something wrong with updating to another ROM. I would really appreciate some help here!
well yes i have also tried that locking and unlocking the BL, not just once about 10 times but still nothing, i tried almost everything and still have no clue, how to fix this
There is a fault in the ROMs, whichever caused this problem. I also saw the same thing happened to a Xperia J user with the MIUI v4.
Came across this today, I think some bring to light the issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39845122
Nice find mate. So basically we need the stock radio files that we can flash in order for the SIM card to work again? Correct me if I am mistaken, in case I am not, can any of the devs look into it to try providing us with the radio file? I am not really keen in waiting a month until the phone gets repaired... Anyone?
I think that i have the same problem with my Xperia TIPO. After unlocking the bootloader and try some ROMs i found that i can´t do any calls.
I have try with a stock rom and another rom, but it doesn´t work. And the problem is not the sim card...
I am going to try relocking the bootloader, but it looks that the problem is going to stand there.
P.S: Sorry about my English
Well, it certainly seems you have the same problem. I would like to point out at this problem as it seems that everyone will have this problem when flashing a couple of ROMs...
Here is a topic regarding the same problem but with the exception that it is a problem the guy has on an Xperia S instead of Miro. It seems that the MIUI v4 3.1.11 ROM fixed the problem for another user(reply number 3 or 4 in the link). One of the repliers copy-pasted a probable fix but the download link for the provided radio modules are down. I sent a PM to Love if he can get his MIUI V4 3.1.11 download link back online. Will post for further updates!
Any luck with this? I have the same problem on my Tipo, and have had it for a while now. I outlined my problem here. I have had contact with devitrified, who has the same problem, and he has some more details here.
In any case, it is heartening to know there's more people with this problem.
i believe there are many people with this problem... i didnt figured out fix almost 2 months

First of all thanks for posting something so everyone get to know that this problem exists, it seems like devs don`t really care or aren`t doing much to fix it. I hope that by time a lot of people will get this problem and that it will be fixed soon.
Is there any fix for this already?
It's really weird that no one said anything about this yet, since it's a problem that's being more and more widespread.
I have got a confirmation from the above poster that the problem stated in this topic started after flashing the Paranoid Android ROM for Sony Xperia Miro device. Can anyone else confirm the same thing?

mine problem became after installing touchwiz rom for tipo
This happened to me on Tipo (ST21i). I Flashed paranoid android fine, could a make call. Went looking around the settings and saw the page of DOOM, as i'm calling it, and there was no box checked, so I hit Phone mode and it asked whether it should reboot. I said yes, and then it broke. I thought it was the kernel so flashed pure CM10 kernel, which is what this port of P.A. was based on, and that didn't work, so I flashed MIUI port, but didn't do the kernel flashing, so it was on the CM10 Kernel. That didn't work and I couldn't enter my sim pin to try anyway, So I've flashed it again after flashing the kernel properly. Still didn't work. My grandad & mum are gonna be so angry. and it looks like I can't revert to stock, and Without stock it will cost a fortune to send it to sony. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying: :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying: :crying: . Keep me posted if you find a download for the modules.

My problems came after flashing xperia z fire 5 ROM on xperia jlo.
I think my phone has water damage and thus not able to get warranty

Hey guys, first of all a big hello to everyone, since this is my first post here on XDA!
I've been on this forum for a while, but it's only since now that I really can't figure things out anymore on my own, or trough other posts.
Now the situation:
I've got a sony Xperia E C1505 (codename Nanhu) (that's single SIM)
which is not running well even on stock software. On stock software (ROM version 11.3.A.0.47) the phone keeps freezing after a while, say 10 seconds after the reboot. When it freezes, it instantly reboots.
I got tired of this rebooting phone and first flashed Firefox O.S. to see what it looks like. It's quiete awesome but I didnt have any radio's... Anyways ATLEAST it didnt freeze on me.
So I flashed back again to the stock 11.3.A.0.47, to see myself run into the freezing problems AGAIN!
This time I decided that I'd flash CM10 to see what it does.
So far I came across 2 different versions:
- JB version (by jjim, am I correct?)
- FXP version (by FXP)
I've been running FXP228 now and it works flawlessly! Everything works, every radio is intact and even the camera app works.
But.. *drumroll..* here's the thing; My SIM card does not get detected. It doesen't even ask me for a PIN at startup!
I've downloaded this 3rd party app for my SIM info, it says the following:
SIM state: UNKNOWN
Phone Type: GSM
Network type: UNKNOWN
The IMEI is correct though
The baseband is correct aswell, atleast I believe so.
Btw, I live in the Netherlands and my SIM card is from Vodafone. I've already tested this card in another phone, it works as it should.
What can I do to make the SIM-Card be detected? I've scoured the forums looking for solutions.. Sadly enough, I only came across this which was my closest approach to my problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277279
I also noticed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2209767
Anyway's.. I'm sort of stuck right now. The next step for me is to try n flash FXP 220..
If anyone's got a direct solution or workaround for me on this stage, I'd be happy.
Also, some explainment around the whole JB rom's would be nice. I understand that I first have to flash a modified stock ROM from JB to install CM10 ? Where can I get this .TFT file? I've already searched in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326830 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330638 but I don't get much wiser out of it.
Looking forward to your responses!

After 2 reboots it finally got into the home screen, asked me for the PIN straight away and works like a charm.
Many thanks to jjim
Hope this helps for a future user.
Things i have tried:
- Flash FXP firmware versions; (failed)
- 220 (failed)
- 224 (no gsm)
- 228 (no gsm)
- Restore stock over and over (failed)
- Modify stock (failed)
- Modified the FXP firmware with modem.zip files from the stock and re-flashed (failed)
- Flashed JB firmware. SUCCES!!!!

Why don't you just relock bootloader and apply for warranty
I'm sure it's been just a couple of months since Xperia E is released
Is there anything that stops you from applying warranty?:what::what:
Sent from my C1604 using xda app-developers app
I couldnt apply this phone for warranty because the previous user / owner already messed around with this phone.
Same to me. I've tried FXP238 and still no GSM network detected
Hey man, thanks a lot with your post, Im having exactly the same problem.
I have tried with FXP241 with no lock detecting the SIM card.
I downloaded the files you posted. Flashed the jjm34 boot+recovery and then installed the CM10DS file you mentioned. During the install I had the error "symlink: some symlinks failed"
Did you have the same problem?
Thanks!

You need to flash a file called cm_nanhu_DS-ota110 to fix any simcard problem ,I have it on my phone now and testing it atm Works okay

Hi Everyone,
I have purchased my Xperiz Z 'C6602' in the start of this year (2014). Yesterday, I faced a problem that my mobile was showing no Sim card detection. I have restarted my mobile many times, open the Sim slot and again placed it corrected but the problem persists. I have reset my mobile, check the aeroplane mode but all is well. I am wondering that how this happened because my mobile was working great. I used it at night very well and then after some hours at morning the mobile showed no network connection (detect no Sim) while the Sim was in the Sim Slot.
Please tell me the solution of this problem. Thanks
i got no signal at c1605 (dual)
Here's my situation. I got an LG G2 (D800) for my birthday last December. I was super excited to finally have an Android phone again, I had been using an iPhone 4S for a few months, so naturally I went straight into customization. I tried to flash a ROM (I don't remember which one) got loki set up right, installed TWRP. Got all that done. Selected my ROM, which had versions for different carriers(D800,D801,D802) kernels included. So I accidentally flashed the D802 ROM onto my D800,(In system settings it identifies as a D802). Now I didn't think to flash the kernel for it... I think that may be my problem. Now in me head I can just boot back into recovery, flash the right ROM and kernel, and I'm good to go. Not so much.. For some reason, TWRP was removed. I also cannot barely navigate anything. My touches are off and completely random, it will auto reboot after about 1-5 minutes of use. I have tried to get into system settings countless times and turn on USB debugging to try to get loki and TWRP back in it. But the touches are so off and inaccurate that I cannot even click on PC Connections to turn it on. I am at a ****ing wall. I have no earthly idea as to what I can do... At the moment I have no phone to use, I need one for my job. I beg for any help or advice, I will try anything at this point.
Thanks.
Please do tell me if you think its hopeless, I can take brutal honesty.

Thanks.

Okay, thank you. About how much did it cost you? Also, since I have my phone locked to AT&T wouldn't they make it so only their SIM cards work in the phone, making my AT&T SIM worthless? I like AT&T's service, I don't want to drop them.

In response to everyones question yes they would charge you for their service but this is a last resort if you have no help from anyone on here, .. Now here the thing, As i stated in my previous reply, i did this cause i accidently wiped my whole phone and only had just CWM aka clock work mod that was it and nobody has done a tutorial on this a fix or nothing for this model i had no way to adb push or sideload cause it couldnt recognize the model to push or latch on to my device. so I took it to my friend at the local Metro PCS store and told them i want service and I paid for their service they flashed it i took it home flashed IoRooted it , then G2 Flashed it to AT&T Stock rom, once back on my stock rom i then Used TWRP and made a full back up using TWRP and flashed the G3 Cloudy Rom , then Boom I was back in the saddle again !! , now I really hope that the XDA Developers could take a moment if they could to find a fix for people like me and anyone else who accidently wipes everything Toatl Os and all even SD and external and the only thing they have is CWM or TWRP, . but the fix would make it so we couldnt erase all data without being warned or some type of emergency fix or patch for this sorta thing, im just a noob but I respect everyone on the site and their work and they are good at what they do , so if the message reaches one of the master Pros id be gratefully appreciative , and im sure all others will as well , sorry for the late response ive been working 3rd shift and not much sleep. hope i answered all your questions , have a great day

To my Understanding I was told at the Metro PCS that it is owned now by AT&T as well as Cricket , but don't quote me , but I do know that their stores have Sim Cards now instead of just CDMA only .
Here is the best possible fix I could think of for you, and it is guaranteed to work because I've softbricked my D800 in many different circumstances trying to play around with options and settings I shouldn't have just to see what they were. This process is somewhat tedious, but nonetheless is works and will reset your device back to the absolute first rom ever released for the D800, which is 4.2.2 JB. After you are completely done with this, you can go to your settings>about phone>software update and keep updating it until you get to 4.4.2 KK. I think you have to do the software update 4 times to get to 4.4.2 so it might take a little time. Here is the video, follow it step by step and if you have any questions just post them here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqw_LFuyHbE&index=1&list=FLgk5eWpB4S7cI8MUlrRa67A
