[Q] ViperS 5.1.0 - Gallery crashes - HTC Sensation

Hi, I have this rom working without problems for a few weeks now on my XE. But since 2 days I'm experiencing problems with the gallery app. I can open it, but when selecting a map, the app crashes. Sometimes it just says 'gallery stopped working', sometimes it says something like 'google play services stopped'. When I try to check out a just shot photo (from within the camera app), the app immediately crashes...
Can't find anything about it, somebody got a clue?

clear cache of the gallery app
delete thumbnails from DCIM folder
otherwise wipe dalvik + cache from recovery

Camera Force Closes

Any app that uses the camera seems to force close on me. Examples include the amazon.com, droidshooting, layar, etc. After the force close, the camera app itself reports that is cannot connect to the camera. The native camera app, google googles, and barcode scanner app seem to be immune to the initial crash. The amazon app worked before I updated to 2.3.2, have not tried it since. Is this a common issue, or should I exchange my phone. I am running stock, pushed OTA 2.3.3 manually. I have had no other issues with this phone.

go to the main settings, applications, manage applications, all, camera, then press the clear data button. check and see if that fixes the problem for you

It did not. The camera app itself works, until some other app trying to use the camera forcecloses.

try clearing the data on one of those apps that force make the camera force close.

Still force closes. I am thinking it may be something changed in the way the phone handles having two cameras.
Has anybody else had this problem with amazon app?
I have the problem with the bar code scanner part of the Android app. The take a picture part works fine for me. i tried wiping, different roms, 2.3.2, 2.3.3...even restoring back to an older nandroid backup. I don't use the bar code scanner often so I don't remember if the older version of 2.3 worked previously
Glad to see someone else is seeing it and not just my phone. I asked a similar question a few days ago and the replies were basically don't use amazon.. use something else... blah blah..

Does the camera stop working for other apps after you do this? When I try certain apps, they forceclose, then the camera will not at all until i reboot.
Yes. If I try to use the amazon bar code scanner, it kills the camera and no other camera app will work until I reboot.
bumping.... the way the camera is called in 2.3.3 is different. Amazon corrected the problem with their app in the recent update. The other programs will have to do that eventually as well.

"Photo enhancer stopped working", Error while connecting to play store

Hey, I'm recently experiencing some issues with my gf's HOS, the ROM is latest Viper One S, and kernel is ElementalX, vanilla settings.
When I'm trying to edit a photo using photo enhancer, immediately after pressing "edit" i get a force close and a message that photo enhancer has stopped. I tried to do factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik and instal TrickDroid 9.1.0 to see if that helps, but that didn't solve problem, it's the same when I try to edit any photo from the gallery. Plus, on TrickDroid there's another problem - when trying to connect to Play Store I'm getting an error.
Any idea what could that be? I'm happy to provide with logcat, if i find out how to get them

"Camera error: camera cannot initialize"

Hey guys
I'm having a problem with the camera of my moto g. Everytime I open the camera and shut it down, but then open it again, it isnt working anymore. There's a black screen with a popup saying 'Camera error: camera cannot initialize'
I can hear the camera 'cracking' when its launching our shutting down. When I wait 4 seconds till it is shut down it works again but otherwise not. When I install stock rom from scratch problem is gone, but now I rooted (stock kitkat) with faux kernel OC and the problem came back!
Are there other people experiencing the same problem? Is there a fix possible?
Thanks in advance
Go app>all>camera>clear data and cache> force stop then reboot device
Sent from my XT1034 using xda app-developers app
I had the same issue. Did all suggested in various forums on cache and all.
What worked for me is that I installed a 3rd party app, Camera Zoom Fx. This works fine but additionally the in-built camera app also started working fine. Its been a couple of days now.
Hi Guys,
It seems that Skype is locking the camera. Remove app cache and data, remove app and reboot the phone.
Cheers

I also experienced the same problem. via instagram, I also can't connect to camera. I dont know if it had been due to Skype, but I downloaded it a couple of days ago, but I also switched to ART so I really don't know what caused it. now I'm back to dalvik and what I did was I removed app cache and data and then rebooted the phone. PROBLEM SOLVED, with Skype still installed..
I got my moto g 4 days back and the camera was working fine, all of a sudden it stopped working and i getting the same error camera cannot camera cannot initialize.
I have tried everything soft reset, hard reset, rebot, cache partitioning format, clear data, still the problem persist.
Please Advice.
Thanks in advance

[Q] play services crashing with error message

It mainly happens when I reboot the phone. "Google play services has stopped working" followed by "com.google.process.location has stopped working", sometimes twice in a row. It's been happening for a couple of days now. The only adverse effect I've noticed, besides it being annoying and frustrating, is that my zooper weather widget hasn't updated in two days. I've even tried to force update it. I tried a websearch and it only turned up a gapps error message. Has this been happening to anyone else or might anyone have some insight as to what is causing the problem?
Try to clear data and cache on google play service.
If it still heppens, reflash your GApps

Clearing app data won't change anything. I fixed it with a clean flash.
"Are you rooted? If so are you using xposed with the Disable Location Consent module? The new Play Services update is causing a conflict with that module; try disabling it and see if that resolves the issue. If that's the culprit you should be fine without the module, there's now a checkbox to no longer show a prompt when switching between Location modes."
I found this solution on reddit.
@Penetrator18 : thanks for the tip mate, it solved my problem

Installs taking long time

Recently, as I install an app, I'm finding it to take a long time...several minutes.
I just selected Truecaller from the Play Store to install. It's a small app. It moved from the downloading stage to installing, maybe 5 minutes before I started this thread, and is still in installing mode now. Another interesting thing, it does NOT show it installing in the notifications bar.
I've had this happen with other apps as well.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Try clearing cache and data of the play store, in Settings - Apps. Sometimes it just 'hangs'. Canceling and Install again can fix it too.
