Moto G Music quality in earphone - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Moto G "Dual sim" audio quality is not up to the mark as express by Gsmarina.com lot of there is noticeable distortion in music output with earphone (Senheiser CX180), even my LG GM200 output is Far better in term of quality (not loudness). Moto G is really loud but quality is poor, I did install some music player (player pro, poweramp, neutron etc) to tweak with equalizer but with those sounds goes more creepy, but in "play music" audio is OK not Great, if Motorola would allowed to customized equalizer it might be better but its not even with Custom profile. can any one help me for better audio output. Thanks in Advance

To me the audio quality is quite good, I didn't bother, nor I would to analyze it with rightmark cos that's just silly.
Try using the Walkman port, its using Sony's own binaries and sound processing.

Do you mean Sony headphone
Moto G DS

Did you try faux kernel? It has some audio quality improvements. I have not had any issues with audio quality, for me it is ok with jvc plugs.
Cheers.

[Q] Sound / Audio Quality? (HOS)

Hi!
Audio quality is a considerably important factor to me when I purchase a phone. I have a pair of Westone 4 IEMs (high-end), so my question is simple.
How good is the sound quality on the HTC One S?
I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and the audio quality with voodoo sound fix applied was reasonably good imho, does the HTC One S compare?
Please do not comment on d sound quality with the headphones that are included with the phone or other cheap headphones, that includes Beats Solos.
Depends on what sound you want to know about.
The external sound is great. It achieves a decently high volume with minimum to no distortion. Beat audio does NOT effect the external sound, meaning it has no effect and does not turn on. Although the speaker is on the back, it does not get muffled if the phone is face up. For me, this speaker was an EXTREME upgrade from my Nexus One. I was surpirsed how well it sounds and how loud it can go.
[*]The in-call sound is real good as well. Not too much to say here, its real easy to hear the other person and it has been the most life-like sound I have experienced in regards to in-call sound.
The headphones have real good quality (ones I bought, this device does not come with a cheap pair by default). I think that Beats does good when it comes to enhancing the sound of music. Some think it is extremely amazing, I think it helps out greatly, but does not give completely unbelievable sound that you never heard before. It basically boosts bass and treble slightly giving a bit of a crisper sound over stock. I still use PowerAmp (media player) which has its own separate EQ system. It sounds amazing when combined with Beats.
Conclusion, Beats + good headphones = amazing sound quality, Beats + good headphones + additional DSP EQ setting (such as PowerAmp) = Best quality you will ever hear. I am an audiophile and I have to have my music sound perfect for all genres, rap to rock.

[Q] Music quality playback via 3.5mm wired headset

How good is the sound quality for music playback ?
I tend to use my current HD2 for MP3 music player quite a lot & with quite a good headset sound quality is very good but have had better.
Also does it support wired music control headset ?
Interested in getting the Razr HD but poor headset sound quality would be a deal breaker.
What are your opinions/experiences ??
I use my Maxx HD with a cheap set of Philips headphones and I am very pleased with the audio quality. Sounds crisp and clear and definitely plenty loud!

I think the sound on the Razr HD is absolutely fantastic. I use set of Bose TriPort LE's and the bass and sound is very crisp. Much better then any other device I've used, including my Nexus 7 tablet.

Am using Etymotic er-6i earbuds. These earbuds are very sensitive (i.e., they are louder at lower power). I'm not really an audiophile. generally i prefer a "neutral" reproduction (no equalization)
The music playback on the Razr HD seems acceptable. It's comparable to my HTC desire, and just a bit below my sony MP3 player. The main issue is a low-volume static hiss that only occurs when sound is actually playing (no hiss during silence). I hear it clearly when volume is on the lowest setting. At the 2nd or 3rd volume it's basically unheard.
The amplifier is pretty powerful. Normally I listen to 8/30 on my sony, and that's about equal to 2/15 on the razr hd.
The equalizer was set to "bass punch" by default. Make sure to turn it off and/or pick your own preferred settings.
The center-button from my HTC earbuds will pause/start music. Haven't yet got other buttons working.

Audio Aspect of the Nexus 5

I've been wondering how people's experience of the N5 audio aspect is, speaker wise and headphone wise. Would love to know feedback on this as to site chances in which I could enhance their audio aspects.
If anyone could answer the following queries I have I would gladly appreciate it.
- DSP tunneling (In regards to the 60 hr playback)
- Speakers are Stereo like the N7 2013 or Mono
- Audio codec being used (Preferably in the audio conf file under /system/etc/media_profiles.xml and mixer_paths.xml)
- List all the libs named audio in system/lib/hw
Thanks a million guys
Im pretty sure the audio is mono.

Yup the device output is mono and it's not very good either. The speaker falls weak of everything apart from Bass. It just feels to be lacking. I have used a G2 and the speaker is much louder and clearer, but the speaker on the G2 is only mono too which leads me to wonder whether the Nexus uses the exact same speaker as the G2 but the software on the Nexus limits it's output.
To me audio is quite a big thing, as ridiculous as it sounds I do sometimes play music out of my phone, and I also use YouTube out loud. I have noticed with the Nexus 5 is is sometimes hard to hear notification sounds, especially in the morning when I am on the bus for example. I know it's not just my device there are numerous reports about this around the web and do not confuse this issue with the tinny audio bug, this simply is the speaker quality.
In terms of headphone output, no complaints.

Sorry for the late reply but thanks for your input in this. Very helpful! I'll see what I can do. The idea being the dsp tunneling is what disturbs me the most. I'm tempted to order one to see about it.

Nexus 5 audio quality through headphone jack is abysmal

Is it just me or is the audio quality abysmal out of the Nexus 5's 3.5mm headphone jack? With my ATH-m50x it sounds like someone is making popcorn in the background of every song I play. The crackling is so intense that it ruins a lot of my tracks. One of the best examples I can find is Lamb of God - Black Label. If anyone can try this song out on Google Music or Spotify on their phone and let me know if it sounds abysmal as well I would highly appreciate it.
All of my music is on Spotify, and I use their "Extreme quality" download option which is 320kbps. Man, it sounds HORRIBLE!
I'm going to try a headphone amp this weekend because this is ridiculous. I tried out the same song my my Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 yesterday and it sounded crystal clear!
I use viper4android highest audio driver, Spotify extreme and ath-m50x and I LOVE my sound quality. The DAC is pretty poor though so viper is a must.

Thanks RootSU, I just installed Viper4Android and the sound quality is definitely better and the crackling/popping is a little less but is still present. Do you think this is a hardware issue? Like I said, my i9100 sounds perfectly fine with stock drivers and so does my dad's i9300! Idk why I have this popping!
I haven't got any crackling or popping. I get a bit of hiss but that's to be expected with my set up.
It could be hardware or even software. Its hard to say.

My Nexus 5 sounds better than my PC.
My PC has a SoundBlaster Recon3D PCIe lol..

Best sound quality music app?

What's your opinions and why?
And any particular settings for the app of your choice tp get the best sound?

Lots of views but no responses. I'll bite. I'm interested in this topic as well. I use the stock player. I just started looking into audiophile equipment and it is all over the place financially. I'll stick with Z5 and headphones for now. I like the sound reproduction of this phone but would like it a little louder. I leave the DSEE HX ticked and go with that. It upscales the mp3 slightly but at a cost of volume.
Meridian player (free and simple), Jet audio. Good, as for me. There is not application that make sound better than hardware can give.

I used to like the walkman app shipped with previous Z series, I find it plays all my audio files very well, clear, crisp as it can be. If you read around on Audio threads they all use the walkman app, there is on here as well (catch must be rooted to flash the zip)

Agreed the volume output is rubbish, you need very low impedance headphones to get volume because of the low headphone voltage output. I read somewhere on one of the audiophile threads that the Sony is half the voltage output of the iphone, and significantly lower that quite a few others, I am guessing this is a trade off Sony is doing to cause less drain on our batteries.
I listen to most my audio as flac or high quality encoded mp3, so don't need DSEE. I also use Pandora and have enabled the higher quality audio playback.
N7 Player, Neutron, Rocket, Stock Sony or Apollo.

I use Poweramp. But It's more down to quality of the song rather than quality of the player. For example if you have 64kbps music file, it'll sound crap on everything that plays audio.
PlayerPro
Poweramp can't be beaten on Stock. Unfortunately Z5 is very quiet through headphones so only so much you can do.
Sony Music with Viper4Android.
I recommend trying PowerAMP 3.0 alpha
Headphone voltage is low but the Z5 can drive most IEMs well enough at max volume. I haven't noticed as much hissing as HTC Butterfly s where hissing was pretty bad.
MSR7 is quite loud at max volume but can sound a tad harsh [some reviewers suggest an amp is needed to tone down sibilance]; ATH-M50 is fairly loud at max volume.

Got a link for alpha?

I would suggest trying out a USB to audio converter and downloading audio files in Flac. It's said you get better quality out of the USB then the Jack

It has a new audio engine and visualizations
Sony Music (Walkman), you can find it on apkmirror.com. Installation for non-Sony devices - copy apk to system/priv-app.
Recomend to use with Viper4android.

I tried the stock player against the new poweramp side by side. Playing the same songs and jumping between the two etc.. I don't think there was much difference, if anything to my ears the stock app was still slightly better sounding

Haha yeah it's barely getting in to the scene but it makes sense because audio only broadcasts in 3 channels where as micro USB can digitally broadcast with much more. Check it

But now..
Are those earphones in the link actually good quality? And will you notice any difference on normal mp3 files?
