This version. it only runs no install. https://app.box.com/s/hqvaj2kxafq6g5eei1ll

Feel like I am talking to a wall here.
What is the website for this program? Where can I find it, don't want a compiled binary, we want the actual information and program source. No source = no port. Also chrome is warning me that your link is malicious.

Look dude, going to put this as simply as possible.
In order to port a programming to windows RT we need the source code, not the program itself that you have uploaded, the source code the author has uploaded somewhere.
But, bigger thing. If you say it works, why do you even need it porting? Does it work on your RT device or not?

Well, as he said, without source code it can't be recompiled for the Surface.
What he also asked is, what is the name and original name / location of this application so we can check to see if it's open or closed source?

The ADP on the right is mine, running Cyanogenmod 3.4.4. The ADP on the left is a running a test Donut build from Google (internal to Google).
I was able to take the pics while the owner of it was somewhere else. There were a few surprises on that phone of his actually...

Google hasn't released any of the Donut source yet. The public GIT branches for Donut are pretty much exactly the same as Cupcake right now.

Correct, but there are internal builds of it that are working quite well. If I can get my hands on one long enough to dump it, I will... I do know that they're auto-updating, too. The phone I had brief access to has been running it for a couple weeks, and according to the owner, they've gotten at least one OTA update on it, possibly more.
I've had the chance to play around with it for a while, and it's a lot more stable than I'd have expected at this point in time.

Seriously, this is the only thing that's keeping me from using the G1 as a single solution for work-related stuff. I can already VNC into servers when on local network's Wifi, the only thing that's missing is VNCing over IPSec VPN.

Due to my personal belief in not spreading rumors, I won't mention anything else with out accompanying pics taken by me personally. So since I don't have any more to share at this time, going to have to say "no".
When I can get more pics or an actual build, I will post it here. Till then, this is all I have to share...

Well quite a teaser indeed. Thanks for giving us something hope to hear from YOU in the future.
Welp, I've been asked to take the pictures down by somebody whom I respect, so I shall do that. Enjoy what you saw. If you missed it, sorry. C'est la vie.
And there is one for 1.5 too.. cisco ipsec vpn that I've been working on.
http://code.google.com/p/get-a-robot-vpnc/
Its also in the market.
Can anyone show me where the code is this vpn client ?
Unfortunately, the get-a-robot-vpnc doesn't support certificate authentication, nor is there any working openVPN client with tun support. So there's still demand for a port of the VPN client in the donut builds to 1.5..

Sure, go lodge a feature request, if you can point me to some docs on how to setup server/client to do this.. it'd be great too.

I've seen the Donut-backported VPN client in Cyan's experimental build. Unfortunately, the only IPsec options it offers are in conjunction with L2TP. My company's VPN uses plain-old IPsec Cisco VPN and it needs to have fields for group username and group password. The fields I found in the Donut-based VPN client didn't support this.
Anyone know if there will be a way to make it work with non-L2TP VPNs? My IT folks tell me that if it accepts a group username/password, it should work as that's what ours requires.
Thanks

That is sick! I want that on my phone.. but I don't understand **** on that site lol.
It would be used by building it into the code of an app, such as a photo viewer, or a browser... it's not a system level control.. as far as I know any way!!
Just use dolphin browser, long press and slide up zooms in...

If you want assistance, I would not post comments like that, it not only makes the poster look stupid but it makes you look arrogant.
Rather than relying on other people do the work for you, why dont you follow the tutorial that you so kindly posted and do the hard work yourself.
I think it has to be built within an app. I want this function as well so what I'm doing is trying to edit the existing mediascape code rather than build a new app

I was offering you an alternative instead of waiting for someone to hold your hand and walk you through how to build it into an app. Sine by reading your posts it's apparent that you either don't have a clue (you have a nice guide posted already) or don't want to put the work in on it. Good luck with your project, might get more help if you remove the attitude from your posts.

I think that only the kernel source was released, not application sources, well at least not SE's - which includes mediascape.
If they were released, then SE would have no differentiator, at least software-wise, for their phones, as any single person or manufacturer would be able to compile the applications, and add them to their own roms.

Other phones rom's?

I was wondering if we could run another phones rom's if it's almost exactly the same? Like the Razor M, it is pretty much the same phone, just lacking the keyboard and a bigger battery, or it their another phone? I know we would probably encounter radio errors.
Would probably be easier to just port the ROM... especially if there's source, just build it from source for the Q. What were you looking at?

Well most provide source (I hope), and so you basically just need to make a few changes to make it build on xt897/c.
Pick one, and try to port it. Look at the changes in github. There's also some guides, but there isn't going to be ONE guide that will cover everything you need. I spose this one you can start with?
I honestly taught myself. It took a long time, and I still have a ton to learn - but I guess I prefer learning "the hard way"
Alright thanks, I'll have to look into it tomorrow. lol I don't even know what source code is, how do you find it?

Usually in the first post, they have a github link. GitHub is just one site where 'git' repositories are hosted. It's fairly popular, but there are other sites which work with git - gitorious, bitbucket, etc.
So are we supposed to put the source into the ROMs? How do you do that? What does it do? Thanks.

You build the ROM from source. It allows you to modify things and make it work differently - for your device for example. Source code just allows you to freely make modifications and tailor stuff to your liking.

It's first birthday is soon. I think they went on holiday with the 75k for about six months before they even started.
I think that this refers to store apps being forced to use the WinRT API instead of the Win32 API and the VLC team simply showing disdain for this change.

This is only if the VLC team wants VLC to be downloadable through the Windows Store. If VLC is a desktop application, they don't need to change anything.

HA. That will never happen. All RT apps must be obtained through the Store. This way Microsoft can ensure its crippled it complies with their APIs and is at an unfair disadvantage in comparison to the native XBOX video application.

I think its better that they follow forum rules and actually search for a forum with the topic that they want to discuss (which this is) and post there (which they did) instead of opening a new thread to say just about the same thing. We all just want to discuss the progress of the VLC app for RT which has been in development forever now. (I donated so I think I have the right to be able to say that lol)

Where did you read that?
From their New year resolution comments on twitter it implied it was coming in 2014
I hope they release a formal status update soon.
Were the rejected a second time from thevapp store? Why?
I heard first time was from a crash.
Not sure why the devs have such a hard time updating the people who funded their project. Backers are generally pissed off on Kickstarter.

Working Linux support for the PH-1

PHP:
https://androideputies.com/2016/12/11/linux-update-adb-fastboot-to-the-latest-version/
adb version should show 1.0.40
adb and flashboot both work. Tested on Ubuntu 16.04
Otherwise the adb abd fastboot versions are too old.
@dvdivx if you think people aren't smart enough to figure out all of this, then you should be sending them instead to the site to read about this. You know, educating the geeks, not just handing them a link to download is all.
1. Everyone should check with your Distro first to set it up, to make things a little simpler for yourself.
2. Then check out Android's site for any information you may want to read.
https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Most Distros already have the android-sdk-platform-tools...
android-sdk-platform-tools are available to download through the Ubuntu Repos...
Arch Linux also has the android-sdk-platform-tools
Again, check with your distro! Besides installing, you need to run them as root, and have your bash profile for root set, or whichever shell you are using, to the /path you installed them at as an example; export PATH=$PATH:/home/foo/Build/platform-tools

If you use the adb and fastboot from the distro IT WONT WORK. That's why I posted this. The versions in distros are too old. This is from the current Android 9 from Google's SDK.
You're saying distro(s) but you mentioned you tested on Ubuntu, so is this Ubuntu you are talking about or distros in General? Because not all distros are outdated... This is why I did say to "Check with your distro". Sure some might be outdated, but certainly all of them are not.
As an example Arch Linux has the latest version;
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/android-sdk-platform-tools/
And the truth is, any decent distro with a decent package maintainer is going to keep this updated!
A lot of maintainers in distros are also slow to update certain things, it doesn't mean it's not going to be at some point in time. But to make sure, it's always best to contact them, and since you use Ubuntu and you brought this up, you should contact them;
https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/android-sdk-platform-tools
