[Q] Accented characters in dock with KitKat - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I tried flashing TF300T first with OmniROM and then with CMB. Both of KitKat "flavour". They work
great, but I have issues with hardware keyboard from dock. I can't write polish accented characters
which work just fine on Asus stock firmware. If I change hardware keyboard layout to let say Czech
I get Czech characters. But there is no polish option at all.
Do you have any ideas if it is fixable?
Thanks!

ICS: Dock Keyboard input language is always English

Hi,
After I have installed ICS, I cannot use any other input language with the hardware keyboard. It is always English. No matter what keyboard I select: Android (Russian), Smart Keyboard or whatever I have english letters appear on key presses. On Honeycomb I had ASUS Keyboard which allowed to switch language using Ctrl-Space combination. Now I don't have the ASUS keyboard anymore. Have anyone been successful in typing non-English on the dock keyboard?

I have already made a quick hack keyboard to produce russian characters on dock keyboard key presses and switch to english using Ctrl-Space. It should be pretty straight forward to add other european languages if some one would like me to. Chinese, Japanese and Korean is tough and I have no plans to support them.
If anyone is interested, here is the hacked by me standard ICS android keyboard, which allows to type both russian and english on Transformer's dock keyboard. Left_Ctrl+Space changes layout. All other features should work correctly - soft keyboard, voice input...

[Q] Asus Keyboard alternative for people with non-US docks

I'm Spanish, and so is my keyboard dock. However, I often type in English with it. Under HC, it wasn't an issue, I used Asus Keyboard in Spanish, and since word suggestion was disabled while using the keyboard, I lost no functionality. This is important because I need to set the Input Method to Asus Keyboard (Spanish) to get the right key layout for my dock keyboard (It mostly changes where some symbols are, such as the @ symbol, and punctuation, on top of adding dead keys for accented letters)
Come ICS, and everything works exactly the same. However, now ICS includes auto-spellcheck independent of the word suggestions, and uses the language of the keyboard to identify the language of what you typed. This means that while I'm typing, and getting the right keyboard layout via the Asus Keyboard (Spanish), every word gets a wiggly red line underneath (and performance suffers a little). When I change to Asus Keyboard (English), I can use auto-spellcheck, BUT it's cumbersome to type (mainly punctuation and symbols).
If there a way to tell the tablet that it should use the Spanish keyboard layout while using another language for spellcheck? Is there any free or paid Input Method app to help me here? I'm not rooted, but feel free to suggest some root only apps and solutions if it's what it takes.

Same problem here. The only custom ROM which works well with my PT dock is Revolver 4

Change keyboard layout to German (QWERTZ)

Hi all!
I've been running ICS from the beginning of it's official release, but flashed the US-version instead of the european one.
No problem so far, but I have the wrong dock-keyboard-layout (QWERTY instead of QWERTZ).
Then I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144204
But where can I find the layout for the german/austrian layout? Could anybody please upload it for me (path to the files should be /system/usr/keylayout and
/system/usr/xt9/keylayout; it's mentioned in the other thread)?
Thanks in advance,
LB115
If you are familiar with the QWERTZ layout, simply go to your language and input settings and select the ASUS German QWERTZ layout.
Your keys will be mapped to the new layout, but the pretty little stickers on them will still be for a different version.
I have a US keyboard, but setting it to ASUS English (UK) allows me to get to the £ symbol and the @ and " are reversed from what is physically on the keys, but it is the standard for UK English.
I have also used the ASUS Spanish keyboard settings with the US Keyboard with no issues.
If you are using any other setting (for instance Thumb Keyboard) for when you are undocked, it will revert to the ASUS English (US) layout regardless which version of the keyboard you have.
Thanks, but when using the Transformer without the dock I have the QWERTZ-layout. Only when using the dock I get the QWERTY one. My system language is German, all keyboard settings too, the dock is a german one...
EDIT: ok, it's working now. I only changed the default keyboard (Android keyboard+ instead of Android keyboard). Thanks for your help!
Hi, I've got the same problem, running FROZN 1.0.9 rom. But there is no other keyboard available than the android keyboard. Do I have to insall another one to get the qwertz layout for my dock?
Thanks for replies!
EDIT: Found Android Keyboard+ in this Post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528322&highlight=qwertz , then I did like Lunchbox115 and it's working now

Annoying bug on dock

Hi.
I really like this tablet nd the keyboard. but it's very annoying when I want to accent over the letter and put it before the letters.
For example: Econ´omico.
I'm Portuguese.
How can I fix it?

I don't know for sure about the Portuguese language, but on the German system language setting (and reportedly the Dutch, too), the tablet seems to process accented letters correctly. I've been pretty much exclusively using English, but somebody in here will chime in that's been on some other language mainly, and help you out more definitively.
LEA, where are you when we need you?
Yes, I have the exact same problem, but in french. It does that only in some applications, not all. Chrome and the default browser are affected. This is annoying as hell, and I can't find a fix. I had this problem with the stock ROM, and with CROMI 3.1.0. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one!
Anyone got a clue on how to fix this?

I've never used Portuguese...
This has been an issue with a lot of languages since the .18 update. Dutch and German work since .30, but most others don't.
I can't check at the moment, but you can use ALTGR (right alt, on dock the only alt) in combination with most letters on the keyboard. (the combinations don't always make sense, in dutch ä is under q) A lot of the accented letters are there in Dutch and German, so possibly in Portuguese as well. Otherwise, Alt+space for a symbol menu.

[Q] Keyboard dock - code tabel

Hi,
I have a problem with CM 10.1. on my P51000 because I can't use my dock-ed keyboard properly.
Keyboard is working ok. But I can't find the way tu use eastern european code tabel for ŠČŽščž.
The dock is prefectly working with original rom, and with others (samsung baesd) roms, but I can't find a solution for CM 10.1.
I would to use slovenian language, wich uses characters like ŠČŽ. I have tried to change keyboard tipe in settings in croatian language, bosnian, or serbian, but still nothing.
Anyone could help me?
Thanks in advance.
