[Q] My HTC wont start up - HTC One S

Hey guys. I was trying to root my HTC One S and upgrade it when I dont know what I did, it suddenly wouldnt turn on. I think I deleted maybe the Operating System. Anyhow I was trying again to reboot it through the Safe Mode (holding the power button and the volume down key together) but nothing would do it. It simply wont start up. Is there any way I could turn it on again? Load the OS?
Please help.

Charge your phone for two hours and it will start.
Now you can use your safe mode or bootloader to load a new firmware, You can Google the instructions and firmware.
Hit like if this helped you.

When recovery is selected it is in FASTBOOT USB
And the options

REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
are there.
Nothing of them does anything instead of reboot bootloader which goes back to the other menu where i selected recovery.

have you installed any custom recovery through fastboot usb?

It wont show your SDCard cos your phone is in bootloader mode and cant go to normal mode.
So, let's get your phone up and running once again. Follow these instructions exactly if you want your phone back alive.
1. type here everything you see when you go to bootloader cos i want to confirm if you are having s3 or s4

GOOD!! Means you can still install a recovery via PC and a ROM later.
Do you have the fastboot files on your PC still?
Since you have relocked, you need to unlock once again in order to install a recovery.

I bet you think I am stupid or something. Which I mean I am. But now. =/ I have nothing. I deleted them. =<

If you dont have download and extract the Fastboot_ADB.zip to your C:\ or D:\
and then download this recovery
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/ville/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-ville.img

Nope i dont think you are stupid. Happen to me the first time i unlocked my One S, i deleted my whole OS and i panicked. Trick is to keep cool and read from this forum and not from the internet.

stuck in bootloop help plz

Hello,
I'm really hoping you can help me out, for I have got myself into a bit of a pickle.
I have been eagerly awaiting ICS, and downloaded mrT69's PG58IMG.zip ics.
Now my phone is stuck in a loop of booting, I'll hear the music start up and quietly brilliant screen and it just keeps repeating. I've tried a system recovery from the hboot menu no dice, I've tried recopying pg58img.zip and receive an error wrong CID or similar, I'm a total plonker for bothering and now i'm just desperate to simply get my phone back working.
Anyway help would be great,
The details I got from my phone are
HBOOT 1.27 000
10.14.9035 01 M
Jan 13 2012 17:33
* My phone is totally stock, this was the first thing I've attempted on it, and will be my last.
Please oh please help you're my only hope.
Cheers
What software version were you on before attempting all this? This is the most important thing to know before you try anything as it helps you find the RUU for you phone
Thanks for your reply,
Is there an easy way to find out what software?, I backed up my sdcard, if the info is stored, but it was the latest gingerbread I think, totally stock and the phone is a white sensation from asia, z710e I beleive, as you can tell I'm pretty hopeless with this stuff.
If you have done the flash please reboot to RECOVERY and WIPE the CACHE partition. After this reboot again to RECOVERY and you will see that everything is on ext4.
I'm working on a solution but I can't provide this at the moment to cover this problem during the flash process.
I would try this if you haven't already!!

Repeating means rebooting ?
Your device was S-OFF?
It happened to me as well (or something like that) when installing a theme not suitable for GB, i am not going to tell you that i have the right solution but here what i did (and it worked!!) to recover my Sensation:
Look for and store in you sdcard:
- PG58IMG.zip (i add the file, it converts HBOOT version into 1.17.000)
- ROM Real_Stock_Experience (can give you dropbox link to download when you do not find it, it is 354MB)
Flash HBOOT 1.17.0000 from Recovery (when your device enters in HBOOT should ask you to appy update automaticly) and after that flash that ROM (it is a zip file), device shuold start normally, after that you can flash latest RUU.
Hope it helps.

That is probably because you have got an Asian ROM, i can only suggest you to make your device SuperCid (11111111), that will allow you to flash it. Look in ROM forum to find out how, now i remember i also had to do it, done it with device in HBOOT and connected to PC via USB, you need to enter certain commands in DOS.
Rgds,
well, I've tried for the last hour or so to get it going, and no luck, I'm more than likely going to throw the phone into the wall, at least I'll have some satisfaction.
i've tried using adb and adb devices in cmd, but it won't find the device, It also was a major pain to get the drivers to work, it seems to have but it doesn't want to cooperate, also it's mentioned to enable usd debugging, how on earth do I do this when the phone won't even boot?, I'm really running out of patience with the damn thing,
I reliase a solution could be changing to superCID and installing that fix, but I can't even get the phone to be recognized in windows to change it?
so I'll try and provide more info, it's an Unbranded white sensation from Hong Kong, I simply want to get it back again, can I find a firmware that is for the cid and flash it to accept?,
I just don't know what to do now, certainly didn't think this would be my evening tonight, lesson learnt,
It only uses adb when the phone is booted, so that won't work
Go into HBOOT and let us know what it says above 1.27.0000

Well I took a big punt and downloaded a ship rom i didn't know what ara meant but do now, my phone has turned a little middle eastern but I easily changed to english, which I remembered I had to do for my phone when I first purchased.
I made sure to get the same radio version, and have tested wifi and receiving calls, so as far as I can tell it functions again.
A very stressful evening,
but at least it's back and running,

Fixing boot loop issue after "Incorrect CID" error
Thanks to "xl VipeR lx" for the SuperCID guide and Joaquinf's guide on How to flash ICS 3.32 firmware.
Okay. Here's a step-by-step guide to fixing this boot loop if you're in a confused state:
The issue is due to problems with your CID, which means we'll have to fix that. First, plug your SD card into the computer and delete the PG58IMG.zip file from your root, then put the SD card back into the phone and keep it turned off.
1) Download the ADB tool from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=672540&stc=1&d=1312138079
2) Make a folder named "adb" on your C:\ drive, and unzip the file into this folder (the path should look like this: C:\adb)
3) Open command prompt and type: cd c:\adb (keep command prompt open)
4) Reboot the phone into fastboot and then connect it to your PC
(in a second, your fastboot screen should show "fastboot USB")
5) Enter the command "fastboot oem writecid 11111111" in command prompt
6) Enter the command "fastboot reboot-bootloader"
7) Enter the command "fastboot getvar cid" (make sure your CID is now 11111111)
8) Enter the command "fastboot reboot"
9) Turn off your phone, put the SD back in your PC and copy the v3.32 PG58IMG.zip back onto the root, then reinsert it into the phone.
10) Reboot back to fastboot and the firmware should now install without error.
11) Now you need to plug the SD back in the PC and delete the PG58IMG.zip from your root, then reinsert it into the phone again.
11) Finally, boot back into fastboot and you could now go on to Superwipe and then install your ICS ROM as you'd originally intended.
you have to install htc sync to use adb commands

let me get this straight ..
when you connect the phone from bootloader to PC ..whats the phone is saying ?
HBOOT or FASTBOOT USB ?
if its saying HBOOT ..press power button once ..that will take you to FASTBOOT USB
if its FASTBOOT USB then you are onnected properly
now to test the connection
open command window from the adb/fastboot folder of your PC (if windows hold shift + right click -> open command window here)
and type this
fastboot devices
it should show your device ..and the rest you follow from the guide

Reboot the phone and hold volume down while it's rebooting, this will take you to the bootloader, from there you can enter recovery and restore a backup or flash ROM.
What ROM were you on and what kernel did you flash?

eehm nop, so how i do that? from where i can get the boot.img and how can flash via fastboot?
Sorry for my noob questions
The boot.img can be found in the root of the ROM zip, unzip it on your pc and you'll see it straight away. You then need to copy the boot.img into the folder where adb and fastboot are. Then open a command prompt from within that folder (shift + right click anywhere in that folder, select open command prompt here), put your phone into bootloader mode and connect it to the pc, then issue this command in the command prompt:
Code:
fastboot devices
It should return your device serial number, this confirms that you're connected properly. If it doesn't return the serial number you need to work out why. If it does return the serial number you can issue this command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Now you can enter recovery on your phone, flash the ROM, and reboot the phone. Now it should boot up.

since you are on S-ON you have to flash the boot.img of the rom via fastboot command
or flash 4ext recovery and enable smartflash from it before flashing the rom
as you understand in any case you need sdk tools(adb and fastboot) on your pc

or flash 4ext recovery and enable smartflash from it before flashing the rom
as you understand in any case you need sdk tools(adb and fastboot) on your pc

What about those of us that have no USB connectivity, meaning when USB cable is connected, you get no "Fastboot USB" on the bootloader screen?
I'm S-on, so flashing recoveries from the SD card isn't possible.
Try this...

Try following method 2 in this guide( through updating via PG58IMG.zip file) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599816. Be carefule about the md5 checksum of the recovery image. Double check before flashing!!
After this, boot into recovery(from the bootloader menu, select appropriate superuser.zip file(for rooting, search xda ...there are many options) and flash root. You now have a custom recovery and are rooted. Now you can flash any custom rom.
All the above assuming you can somehow transfer files to your SD card through a card reader or any other means...
NOTE: Delete the PG58IMG.zip after flashing recovery.

Still won't work. I have tried flashing stock firmwares, stock and non-stock recoveries, reflashing root.zip, restore from known good backups, nothing has worked. Phone is stuck at first HTC logo screen and will go no further, and with no USB connectivity, it's impossible for me to flash even PG58IMGs' because the phone is S-on.
Maybe this could work for you...just a suggestion

Ok, from your reply i gather that even though you transferred the PG581MG to your SD card, the phone did not update when your got to the bootloader menu. I do not think being S-ON will prevent you from installing from the zip file...but maybe i am wrong. Hey now all i can think is this:
Turn off your phone, remove the battery, wait for some time(~10seconds), then put the battery back in. Now press Power +Vol down switch together. Now at the boot loader menu select Fastboot and press Power button. Connect your phone to your PC now and wait. The check if the next screen shows 'FASTBOOT USB'.
If you get 'FASTBOOT USB' in the next screen, then you have multiple options, but for you i would suggest that you download the latest RUU for the phone depending on your region and cid. Then run the ruu while the device is still in FASTBOOT USB mode. This will restore your phone's firmware recovery and rom back to stock.
But if your phone does not show fastboot usb then i'm stumped dude...maybe the experts here in our sensation community will be able to help out....
All the best ...and report if anything improves...

[Q] Soft bricked Sensation. Please help/

Hi there. I've somehow managed to softbrick my Sensation. It's on a permanent whitescreen/green HTC logo reboot loop.
Booting into bootloader, it says I have...
Firmware - 3.32
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.110
RADIO-11.22.3504.07_M
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0131
eMMC-boot
Jan 13 2012.17.33.24
HBOOT
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
The looping boot means I can't log in via ADP.
Anyone know how to dig my way out of this hole?

You need to install a custom recovery in order to flash custom roms. I recommend installing 4ext via fastboot

You use fastboot to flash the recovery.img available from the 4ext website.

Of course. the img is either very well hidden or not available from the website :-/
Never mind. I found once elsewhere except...
I can't use fastboot or adb as the phone is not being recognised using usb.
Phone constantly rebooting so get the usb connected, then disconnected dings but won't stay awake long enough to lock in.
If I load the bootloader first than try I get all sorts of device not found errors.
"adb > devices" reveals nothing
"adb reboot-bootloader" = "error device not found"
etc.
(BTW all these work on my HTC One so it's more likely my Sensation that's not set up right here. In fact my Sensation used to work via USB, now it doesn't)

Use volume down and power to boot into hboot, from hboot use the volume buttons to select fastboot and use power to select it. Connect the device to the computer via USB and wait for drivers to install if necessary. Then you can use the fastboot commands to flash the recovery.img use
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Where recovery.img is the name of the .IMG you have downloaded and placed into your fastboot path.

Oof! I was connecting the USB too early. Wasn't getting the FASTBOOT USB section.
Thanks.
Nearly there now.
