[Q] Why does Camera360 need to run so many services ? - General Questions and Answers

I have been using Camera360 for quite some time and think it is a good camera app.
However, over time they have added background services along with some good features.
Are they really needed and is there a way to stop those services - like NotifyCenter, NotifyCenterAIDL
I think there was another Download or some such service also, which I saw sometimes.
It also links to the question whether running background services actually do any harm or not ?
Like Google maps seems to be running some services, even though I have not used maps in years.
thanks

Disable Google Play Services and Google Services Framework for better battery/privacy

I disabled Google Play Services and Google Services Framework on my Moto G, because I don't need them and the Play Store (I sideload all my apps from the pc).
But there's a big problem: if I disable even one of them, and try to enable the geolocation, it only uses the option "high precision" and, worse then that, it makes all the android framework crash and reboot if I try to open any geolocation-using app (like Google Maps or the camera with geo-ON). Any hint to solve this issue? I really want to get rid of these services, for battery and privacy reasons (in particular, battery improvements are really noticeable!).
UPDATE: I don't get this bug UNLESS I reboot the phone. If I do, I get this issue. If I don't, Maps still works even with these services disabled. I'd like anyway to solve this problem so I don't have to make laborious procedures everytime the phone reboot (I already have to kill 5 motorola processes, i.e. Motocare and Motorola Services ones).
I've attached a pair of screens to clarify my situation. I'm on the STOCK and NO-ROOTED rom.
Thank you very much in advance
So you do need Google services? But don't want to need them, my advice flash stock android ROM without using G-apps

No, I'm on the stock android and not need them. But if I disable them, and I reboot the phone, all the geolocating app I use make the system crash, that's a weird behaviour. To convince yourself, you can disable both the services, restart the phone, open Google Maps and press the location button.
If I don't reboot the phone, instead, Google Maps continues to work even with this two services disabled... that's what confuses me
I basically meant stock and stripped like CM11 without Gapps

Basically, you're going to have to root and flash your phone. You can't remove Google services on stock.

I am one of those who do they everyday work without google stuff and without gapps. I found out several problems:
Some apps do not install because of missing Google Maps API
Some apps fc at startup bacause of missing Maps API or market license check issues
Some apps hardcoded links to several Google Apps and therefor fc or react unexpectedly on certain cases.
No access to Play Store (i tried nearly every alternative market, but nothing is as good for free apps as play store) Meanwhile, F-Droid provides nearly everything you need

Thank you for the intereeting link. Unluckily it regards mainly rooted devices... Pretty interesting though
Let me see if I get this right. You purchased a phone manufactured by Google, using a stock Rom compiled by Google, and you are trying to used Google software (Google Maps or Motorola Camera software- by Google) and you find it surprising that the system crashes after disabling Google's framework? And you are hoping to solve this without rooting or flashing a custom Rom? Seriously?
Sorry for the ironic tone, but you really need to give the idea of making a thread for this a second thought, my friend.
No problem for the ironic tone, but I can ensure you that I'm running Google Maps and (Motorola, not Google!) Camera App geotag WITHOUT having these two services enabled, and they work flawlessy the problem is ONLY when I REBOOT the phone, in which case I must enable and disable again these services in order to make apps with geolocation work without crashing the system. I will attach a screenshot of my running processes in the STOCK and NOROOT rom, and I ensure you that apart this small, boot-time issue, everything works great on my phone (with a great battery boost, I've been able to achieve 9 hours of screen time plus 1hr of calls, what do you think?).
I've about 50 apps installed, I just don't like Motorola and Google ones because they keep running about all the time, sucking out a lot of private data and battery juice
Well I am new to Android and also have/had problems using the moto g. I disabled all Google apps and stuff I could find and the OS is not really stable, I get quite a few hiccups and the phone crashes every now and then. I thought the nova launcher might be the problem, but I also suspect the OS in general.
But unlike you I don't use any Google stuff, so not even maps.
Well, I am selling the phone anyway.
No crashes here apart this Maps tweak, so it sound's really weird... maybed you disabled some critical services. On my device, with kitkat 4.4.2, ART compiler, everything is more than stable. You could try a factory reset or switching from Dalvik to ART too...
Sounds like a gigantic hassle. I don't think these services use much battery at all.

Before saying that, try and let me know
(as soon I will use it in a regoular way - I.e. not gaming and not browsing all the time - I'll post a screenshot proving the 9 hours of screen time, that I wasn't able to reach with Google services enabled)
Ive had 9 hours screen time with google services enabled but that was just doing light stuff ,got 2.5 days out of my last battery charge but that was with only 5 hours screen time but mine is rooted and greenified now.
Cant think of a solution to your problem sorry, guess you will just have to avoid rebooting.
yes, I guess so...
I need to reinstall Google play services on my moto g how do I do this?
This thread is over a year old and totally unrelated to your question. Searching the forums is my advice because you are pretty unlikely to find an answer to your question by posting in this particular thread

Any way to disable "you must have Google play services to run (name of app that doesn
Title cut off, rest should say "doesn't require Google play services to run"
I only use the play store basically, and have no issues with manually enabling before checking for app updates or to download new apps (on my newer device, my older device doesn't even require them for the play store at all)
But things like ccleaner, my emoji keyboard, a few other apps I can't think, of annoyingly claim to need these services to run... While I'm actively running them and using them just fine without.
On a device without the option "disable notifications for this app"either within the app itself, or within my older 4.0.4 device that runs just fine despite it being older... How can I get rid of these annoyances?
Play services are a huge battery and ram hog which I keep disabled unless needed. So any "just install play services" comments isn't exactly what I'm looking for...
I've looked around in disable service (the app) for these apps, unable to find anything looking relevant.
Any help would be appreciated
Play Services are often used for authentication reasons. Meaning the apps look if you have a genuine version. For freemium apps they check for any in app purchases you might have done.
Other common cases are for push notifications or location services etc. These are often only minor or optional features of apps. That's why they usually work nonetheless without having Play Services active.
The only easy option is to use an alternative app store like the Amazon App Store or F-Droid. All the apps over there are pretty much guaranteed to work without Play Services.
There are also some projects out there that aim for a system without Play Services. A quick search should yield quite some results.
If you are rooted and capable of using XPosed, then there is a module in the repo somewhere that does exactly what you are looking for - hiding the pop up.
Can't remember the name right now and don't know if it is still maintained, but searching the modules should provide it to you.
However, Google Play Service shouldn't be so much of a power drainer any more. Beginning with Android 6 / M the battery optimizations are quite enormous, even though the Play Services are excluded from the system wide optimization (because they take care of these optimizations). To further improve the footprint, you could disable the location services and wireless scanning services.

Alternate of Google services?

So there are news of Google collecting Location Even With GPS Turned Off. But I was really thinking to abort using google services not because of this location tracking but also battery draining from google's wakelock which a serious issue to me as no matter what rom am i using playstore will always drain battery ... So i am thinking to go different alternative service i need maps so obviously i use google maps alot but i need its alternate app and same follow with sync service ( i can adjust it to manual no problem ) but i need those services which will not drain my battery and seriously those secret tracking services. If you want to make fun go away. If any dev or group can make alternate google services pls response here . I could be beta tester.
There is already a project that goes along what you want. Search for microg (I think it's called) it limits the Google services and uses alternatives for others.
Here is the issue you will find. Android is made to use Google services and without it, a lot of things just will not work completely right. Like location based services.

How are you getting on with no play store of GMS.

Hi Guys.
Now its been a few months with the device, I know a lot of you are using the device with GMS. I have decided not to side load it on to the device, It took me a while to start get used to using the phone without. I have not had any real issues with getting apps via app gallery and petal search. (I have the odd app that doesn't work 100%, but they are apps i can live without)
how are you getting on with it all?
its been good for me also, thought i would have had a lot more issues but every app i need is there, the only exclusion atm being ebay which i can easly use via web as its layout is same as an app anyway lol
I think like most initially I was apprehensive but 8 weeks on I don't even notice tbh, life continues and I've got a banging bit of kit

Pretty much how I feel, still a few apps here and there like OP said. Do hope AppGallery gets fleshed out soon, sounds like there's promising things on the way - just hoping Huawei invest in their ecosystem / store as they said they would!
That said, Petal Search was a pretty smart way for them to get arround Apps not being launched on their own store... Well played Huawei.
I used my phone with and without google play store. Decided to debloat my phone and got rid of all huawei and google services, including app stores. This impacted battery drastically. It added me 3 hrs of on-screen time. As for an app store, I use modded apkpure market. Mod disables all reporting, ads etc.
P.s Now i have a ridiculously long battery life. Enjoying my phone more than before.

This is actually a really interest approach that makes a lot of sense. One thing I will say is HMS still seems to be better on the battery than GMS devices / installed. I guess it would be a lot of the data collection and analysis from Googles end.
Do mapping services still work with both cores completely removed? Has there been any draw backs at all?
The Google maps app works fine. I use it daily. But apps that use Google maps needs Google services to display the map(Like Grab). They don't work. This is the only drawback that I experienced.

The only app i have had real issues with is the starbucks app. I've tried via the browsers but cannot use the card feature.

I am guessing that HMS core apps are probably on there way just taking a while.
it'll be good to see what will come in the next few months, daily there seems to be something new, I think I noticed sky go is now available!
now that i have gotten issues sorted out its not bad at all , only thing i miss is being able to cast to my chromecast. i set microsoft launcher and it allowed me to set google as my search engine so it feels very similar.

Yeah it looks like it is getting much better. Once it has banking apps on there it will likely do much better and more people will start realising how fantastic the device is.
My music service is YouTube, I can't live without google services. I've been thinking about switch to other phone, the only gps I got working 100% of the time is Waze(Google app), don't have push for many apps is frustrating and I lost google pay that I used a lot. So not very happy.

Oh sorry, I used this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p40-pro/how-to/adb-debloating-t4088633
In addition, I got the app called "App inspector" and got rid of many more apps than those in the guide. App inspector is for getting the package name of bloatware so i can use adb to uninstall.

Google App Implementations

Got my OnePlus 9 Pro today, before I start flashing LOS I wanted to ask a couple questions about my Google choices.
Is it possible to not have any Google apps/services on the phone but still have access to the Play Store? I've seen Aurora store mentioned a couple times, but it doesn't seem like it works that well on my current device (searching for apps that I know are there but get no results, etc.). Those apps would likely still rely on Google services and break without them, correct?
Is it possible to use Mozilla's location services instead of Google's?
If no to the above, can I use Google's location services through a proxy?
What are the differences between OpenGApps/MindTheGapps/microG? I'm considering the latter (microG) but it looks like there hasn't been much progress on it and I don't know how functional it will be.
I want as little Google on my phone as possible while still having access to GPS, apps that rely on Google having bare minimum functionality, and privacy. What is the best way to do this?
1. You have access to the web of Play Store. play.google.com
