S-off after 5.18 - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Well, I was an idiot and took the 5.18 update, but I had s-off, supercid, and an unlocked BL. I decided to test firewater and it just failed after chugging the first bottle. Now I am running cm11 and hoping I could flash a modified stock ROM or just use another utility such as rumrunner to get s-off. Any ideas? I still have supercid and an unlocked bootloader.
Sent from my One X using xda premium

You had s-off, SuperCID, and am unlocked bootloader before you took the update? It should still be that way unless you changed it manually.
Sent from my Evita

Yeah, I still have an unlocked bootloader and supercid. I changed back to s-on with "fastboot OEM writesecureflag 3"
Sent from my One X using xda premium

You can use any of the s-off methods to get s-off then.
Sent from my Evita

I'll try tomorrow as my computer doesn't like to recognize adb. I'll try with a friends computer and see if rumrunner will work.
Sent from my One X using xda premium

Just tried rumrunner. It just hangs after "its a little stinky in here"
Sent from my One X using xda premium

What ROM/kernel are you on?
Sent from my Evita

Cm11, stock cm kernel
Sent from my One X using xda premium

For some reason Rumrunner seems to run better on ROMs like Kickdroid. Facepalm should be fine though.
Sent from my Evita

I'll try that in a bit, providing that I can find a USB cable.
Sent from my One X using xda premium

I'll flash kickdroid and try rumrunner and facepalm. Neither seem to work on cm11
Sent from my One X using xda premium

Facepalm does work on aosp ROMs, I've done it myself.
Sent from my Evita

Apparently it doesn't work on the newest firmware. When I flashed the .zip file, it gave me an error of not allowed. I did the rest of the steps, still s-on
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium

No point in doing the rest of the steps if the zip fails.
Sent from my Evita

Just tried all three ways of getting s-off. None worked. Rumrunner quits after sanitizing. Firewater crashes the devices after chugging the first bottle.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium

Flash Kickdroid and try Rumrunner again.
Sent from my Evita

My bad, I forgot to say I did flash kickdroid and bulletproof kernel. I'll flash the stock kernel and try again
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium

Yeah try with the stock kernel. It can take multiple attempts to work too.

NO. you are s off. Just run the ruu, then push a twrp recovery. After that just flash a Rom

You shouldn't be having any problems changing roms if you're s-off and doing the wipes.

OK so just d so I got this straight. Ruu back to stock, unlock boot loader, flash recovery. And can this be done in Ubuntu?

Ya do I have to lock bootloader to do this? Then get it unlocked after? Cause its telling me to charge ny phone when it is.

If you're s-off bootloader unlock no longer matters. You can just run the ruu and away you go.

158 error usually means that it cannot find the image or you have the wrong or a bad ruu. Try downloading the correct RUU and running the exe again. Just to be sure, your phone is stock and has never been tampered or had cid changed?

Pretty sure that's the release date not the version.
Nevertheless, that error means the OP has the wrong RUU.

Please read before doing anything else with the RUU:

SuperCID + S-on + RUU = brick
If you are SuperCID (which you should be, if you are rooted) then the RUU not running is a good thing. It would have bricked you, if it ran.

Unlocked 3.18 Now What?

Now that we have the exploit to unlock the bootloader on 3.18, I thought I would give you the run down on what to expect.
The first thing that you need to know is that your hboot version will not allow you to flash custom roms properly. You will have to manually flash the boot image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136172 . Flashing roms without doing this manually requires a method called S-Off in witch you remove security: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155071 If you are thinking about flashing aosp based roms you will have to s-off "FIRST" and downgrade your touch screen for them to work properly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159863
Hopefully this will eliminate some confusion and help you on your way.

Go here : [ROOT] HTC One X AT&T 3.18
I have been unlocked and have superCID, when trying to flash custom recovery via the fast boot it seems to install fine but when i reboot into recovery the recovery is blank any ideas? What are the steps i should properly take to gain Root,s-off etc. Any assistance would be aprpeciated.
Did you unlock bootloader via HTC dev?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Yes sir cid is 11111 via fastboot auth
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
What I am asking is if you went to the HTC dev site and received an unlock token to unlock the boot loader after gaining temp root. If so you can download goo manager from play store search for twrp and it will install it for you. Make sure you stay with 2.3..... 2.4 has issues wiping on our phones.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
You will also need to install super user.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
When I flashed the twrp via fastboot after HTC dev boot unlock and try to reboot into recovery it's just a blank screen after the red HTC warning

you need to hold the volume down button and power. once you get into the bootscreen choose recovery. This will load up TWRP. Once your in you can gain SU by going to advanced and fixing permissions I believe. Also note when installing custom roms you must do a complete data wipe/cache/dalvik/system or you might have boot loops or no boot at all.
You gain such by flashing su in recovery.

How do I put su on my one x I have unlocked it. No twrp. I tried s-off but there's no su. Need help

Ruu help

My HTC one xl has super cid unlocked bootloader I've been trying to flash the 3.18 Ruu so I can flash a new Rom but when trying to Ruu it comes up with a android fail something about cid not matching I've relocked bootloader to flash Ruu but don't know what I'm doing wrong
Forgot to add I have s-off as well

Currently it's 1.09 so want to flash Ruu to get 2.14 for some of the newer roms

Hmm... With s-off it should always work. Your CID is 11111111, correct? Try changing USB ports.

Yeah I have super cid it's strange I'll try another usb when I get home. I had to flash the old rogers Ruu 3 times before it took. My phone just like giving me trouble.

Not sure if it matters or not but you don't have to re-lock the bootloader if you have s-off.

Do you have s-off? it is likely what is stopping you, followed by if the ruu did flash you would be bricked if you are s-on.

Oh you did add at the end you are s-off. Something does not sound right.
Evita device?
Where is this phone from?
What version is it currently on?
Write cid again? I am not sure how some people get to the situation but many people need to write the supercid again via fastboot for it to properly stick.
Yeah all is good it's a evita from rogers using the last Ruu before 3.17 I'm gonna try again tonight. My rogers Ruu I had to flash 3 times for it to flash properly one after the other

All you need to do is run the appropriate RUU for your phone. Look in the resource thread that is a sticky in the Android Development section, you'll find links there.

While it's easier just to RUU, it is also possible to extract the recovery image from an OTA zip file.
