Is there a way to use device manager to find my rooted phone? Device manager says it is unable to find the location and I'm guessing that's because it's rooted. I'm hoping the phone didn't turn off.....
This is worse than any break up I've ever gone through :crying:
I am rooted and have used device manager to locate my phone. My guess is that could mean any number of things starting with the phone is not powered on, it does not have any cell or wifi signal to work off of, or the phone could be disconnected from your account.... I font think I have ever got an unable to locate, I at least get a last known location and the time it was there.

Well if you find it you should install lookout. It will update the location right before it loses battery.

hello i have lost mu phone last night and i was wondering if it was possible to turn the phone to loud some how remotely after the fact kinda like Plan B gps tracking, ive been using the plan b but it is not accurate and i was wondering if anyone knew of another idea thanks
Did you have mobile security on your account and the app installed?

Try Plan B. Free on the market. Read the details here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb
May be able to help you locate your phone AFTER you lose it. Never used it but looks like it will only work if your phone is on and has a data connection. Will send you its location via GMail, after that, you can text your phone from a friend's phone to try to pinpoint it. Good luck!
If you find it, I would buy SeekDroid or something.
Log onto the Security programs website? I use T-Mobile Security
hello, everyone!
my bad if this post is misplaced but couldn't really find a good answer to my specific problem.
basically, i lost my sgs3 today. it had no security apps like android lost, lookout etc. installed and neither wifi nor mobile data were on. have installed from my desktop android lost, but since the phone has no internet connection i don't see how this app can ever be pushed onto the phone.
so basically, my question is if there is anything to be done here? perhaps any code or instruction sent by sms that would trigger the mobile data on!!! i don't suppose so!
anyway, whatever you might think of, i'd appreciate any help!
i'll call the gsm provider at some point to deactivate the sim, unless i can find a way first to locate the phone using their network signal.
many thanks!
Yesterday the Connection Optimizer started popping up an error box about every minute or so about needing to update the version of Adobe Flash on my phone to prevent malware. It then takes me to Adobe's site to download a new version, which of course, does not exist. I never even installed Flash on this device and not sure what the Connection Optimizer has to do with Flash/Security anyways. Either way, it is annoying because it just keeps popping up at random.
At first I thought it might be something with Dolphin Browser and having Flash enabled. I even tried installing the latest version of Flash that is modded (here on XDA) for use with 4.4 to see if that would fix it. It didn't. So I uninstalled Flash player and disabled it in Dolphin Browser and the prompt still pops up.
Anyone else run into this issue?
Just want to chime back in and add that a co-worker of mine is having the same issue on his S5. Seems to happen when device switches to Wifi.

Just turn off connection optimizer
All it does is switch you to Wi-Fi automatically every once in a while
Its a waste of battery imi

I get your point and that is what I have done. However, I do feel that if it is a feature on the device and is not working there should be a fix for it instead of just turning it off. Wondering why (2) of our S5 devices are having the issue but yet doesn't seem anyone else is, or at least not speaking up about it. Called Sprint and they have nothing on record of it being mentioned by others. As I'm still in my "trial" period with the device I want to make sure all sensors and features work as they should.
I have the phone for about a year and yesterday was the 1st time I tried to use the BT and connect it to my car speakerphone. I turned it ON, the icon showed up but it wasnt illuminated as it is supposed to be. It also didnt find any nearby devices. My wife's MOTO G on the other hand, had no problems finding my phone or the car speaker.
My phone is not rooted and WIFI was off.
From a shot goggling, I didnt find much info about it, but perhaps it is related to the KirKat update? Is there any solution to that?
You need to manually scan for other devices. It should have an option there when you are searching for local devices. Or are you saying out of the random that your Bluetooth stopped working? If so you probably dropped the phone and broke the radio

No. Im saying that it wont find any nearby devices. Im clicking on the "search for devices" but it wont find any devices. Other devices can find me, but mine wont show any device.
I also tried factory reset and still not working
Try turning the visibility timer to never. Then perhaps rename your device? These are the basic troubleshooting methods I would use. If its a software issue (which might not be since you did a factory reset) then I suggest changing downloading an app off the play store like "Bluetooth auto connect". If it is a hardware issue then send it back to google for a new device. Or open it up and check out the sensor

Hey all, unfortunately I lost my OPO last night. I was able to get to the Google Device Manager on my PC and lock it with a message, but I didn't have my GPS on so I can't locate it. I didn't see the option, so I guess this is a last attempt at having hope, but is there a way to force it on?
I dont see any to do it if gps wasnt on , maybe if you had a local hotspot in your wifi list but youd have to know that address , i dont know if it can be down from there either
